I recently flash CyanogenMod 7 (gingerbread) and everything works great except I'm little disappoint with camera. I think stock camera is much better and I was looking for camera.apk and I just can't find it anywhere. Few that I've found couldn't install. Anyone know where I can get a stock camera for Samsung Captivate? I also have ClockworkMod 3.x.
Thanks in advance!
Stock Samsung TouchWiz camera app that came with our phones aren't compatible with CM7, I believe.
I see. thx.

You're right. CM7 is AOSP or whatever the abbreviation is for it, but it has absolutely nothing to do with Samsung's firmware so those apps doesn't work with it.

Try Vignette from the market, utilizes all 5mp of your camera and orientation works as well, unlike the stock CM7 camera.
Hi. Someone ported camera app from ICS to GB? Or at least is it possible? I'm interested for my I9000. Thank you
For the first part of ur question answer is NO
I dont know if it worth porting it to GB (if possible which i doubt)
ICS camera sucks compared to GB
actually, I just want the panorama option. I think is better than all the other apps on market. Thanks for your answers.

Friends...is there any update on the ics build for galaxy note from samsung or cm9 or any custom rom?
There is an experimental build from cm9 team... but really excited for more progress about ics builds as a lot of other phones are progressing really well. Would love to know.
Thank you!

As per the posts in this forum, leaked version of ICS may come in few days. but the Official release may be in Feb or March. i think "maui" is waiting for ICS leak from Samsung for further developments in CM9 4.0.3 ICS build.
few days?
already over ten days.

he said may not will, there is a vast difference, why are people so eager to get ics, its almost as tho people expect ics to magically fix things

When you see the leaked rom`s off the S2, ICS is hammered to death by touchwiz visually. That`s realy a shame
does native ICS allow for permanent landscape mode in ALL screens?

wish it comes out soon anyway
Are there any GB AOSP ROMs at least? After coming from HTC Sensation, TouchWiz is really irriatting.
EDIT: Sense used to be awesome, hence laggy. TouchWiz is laggy for no reason :-/

Good point. It is too bad nobody picked up the torch and started running CM7 nightlies for the Note. I love the CM9 alpha build (ran it as my daily for weeks). Switched back to an LA4 based ROM because I needed the camera one day. I don't see the SPen apps as all that big of a deal. Not when there are better alternative apps on the market that work just fine with the s pen. So it goes.
ICS is much more than eye candy and yes, it does just magically fix things. Lag? What is lag? The official ICS from Samsung with TouchWiz overlaid will suck, but it is necessary to get the drivers for CM9.
I'm sure you've all seen this:

Hopefully we'll get an insider leak soon.

Yup. Exactly what happened with me. If the camera worked with the CM9 alpha build, nothing like it.
I bought the Note only because of its hardware. I would have bought the SII instead of the Sensation, but stopped myself from doing that only because I was against TouchWiz.
Looking forth to it very soon
when it comes out, most will view it as overrated. most phones (especially the Note) is already serving its purpose, and so much more. i think ICS is more promising to tablets than it is to phones.
I am new to this so forgive my ignorance, but when ics comes out does that mean all the existing custom Roms are then outdated?

I agree..maybe a cm7 pure aosp build since the hardware is very similar to the S2 until cm9 comes out later...lets see..

can't wait no longer for ICS... Rocket all the way...
I see that ICS for the Droid 4 has been released - which I guess leaves only the Bionic that hasn't got the update. I wonder if anything in this leaked version will help resolve the final issues with ICS on the Bionic...???
Wont help us.

really?
yeah we won't get much out of the leaked ICS versions for other devices. We need an ICS kernel, which thanks to the wonderful locked bootloader won't happen until we have an official release (or leak) from Moto
*praying for a leak!*
If you want to take a look at the Droid 4 ICS leak you can download it here
I hope this happens soon..
Would really like to ICS this phone, been running it on my Xoom for a while.. Sweet
Am I missing something here? Just download the Axi0m 3-20 ICS ROM for the Bionic. Been running ICS for 4months now...only thing not working is video recording.

You're missing the fact that an ICS kernel hasn't even been built for the Bionic. That it's incredible that ICS ROMs even run on the Bionic in the first place because it's booting up with a Gingerbread kernel.
ICS has so many things overhauled under the hood, including new aspects of kernel operation that got stacked on top of what was already there. Because of the locked bootloader in the Bionic, the kernel cannot be modified.
Bionic ICS ROMs are running with limited functionality (such as hardware acceleration) because not everything in an ICS kernel is present.

Everything you just said is technically correct; however I have been running ICS alongside GB for over four months now and have not toggled back to my GB rom in over 2 months. ICS, even with it not being "official", just runs 5x better than GB.
This is pretty much the summary of how people feel who are running Android 4.x on their Bionics. I do not know anyone who has tried the Axi0m ICS roms and then switched back to GB except for people who REALLY have to have HD video recording.

I keep hearing this but what kind of games are you playing that freeze up? Only one of my 13 freeze up and it's not even that good.
I only played a couple games when I had ICS on my Bionic, but they performed significantly better than they did on GB.

Defender 2, drag racing, temple run, modern combat 3, cartoon wars and a few others.
Ordinarily it would be no big deal, but I got a new job with a lot more free time on my hands and these games are a great time killer. Lol

Anything that requires graphics acceleration.
I switch back more for the bluetooth issues that we're still having w/ ICS over everything else. I use bluetooth devices quite regularly, and on ICS it's simply too buggy still for me to use it as a daily driver.

Wow, bluetooth? That's not dead yet huh? Just kidding
I'm curious though - what industry do you work in that requires the use of multiple Bluetooth devices? (This is a genuine question, I do not mean it sarcastically)

Can Anybody make a Froyo Rom (CM6) or port one, for Example Froyo Pro, with OC Kernel
And with some ported things like new adreno libs?
Is it possible?
Sikorsky96 wants it too
Thanks for the answers

I'm pretty sure the Galaxy Ace originally shipped with Froyo, so I guess its theoretically possible, but the issue is, why would you? Downgrading the software on your phone doesn't make sense to me when GB, ICS (And hopefully soon JB) all run nicely on the Ace...
Obviously, if its possible but not in much demand, then a developer probably wont go out and do it, however, why don't you go and give it a go?
Oh man froyo is just perfect for gaming. Would love to see froyo running on my phone. And by the my phone already came with Ginger bread which I don't like so haven't had froyo on my ace ever. It would be awesome dud
To be honest froyo seems smoother to me than gingerbread. Always hated gingerbread. And ics wasn't made for ace in the first place. And its too buggy. It drained battery from 100% to 18 in less than an hour wtf.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
I wanted to make one , but I need to make a Froyo device config.....or rather a Froyo kernel .
Besides , the CM6 sources are heavily outdated , because their manifest still points to android.git.kernel.org
"Friends forever." - Ventus
Only battery life is good on froyo.Nothing else.games like angry birds lack, poor memory management, low api level which means less compatible apps.

In froyo, 3d games used to lag like hell. And the camera didnt have 480p option too!
In gb, everything is faster according to me.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk 2
Anyways, having cm6 would just add up to our forums flexibility you know having it wouldn't harm. And by the way I used to have a LG optimus gt540 I could run games without any lag on froyo but as soon as I installed Gingerbread I could no longer experience that smoothness so I had to go back to froyo. May be that's just that phone Gingerbread isn't that shi* now that I think about it

I guess you never heard of Adrenaline Engine... Neither of any script
GB is much faster and better than Froyo.
And btw, ICS can be made for our device but samsung developers didn't even do anything to make it possible becauase, if they want us to get ICS, we need to buy one of their new phones...
Lol
Say no to Froyo.

lol . It's just business, what do you expect. what would you do if you were them???
Anyways running ICS OR JB on our ace is absolutely possible but its like running win 7 or 8 on a pentium 2 pc with 128mb Graphics and 256mb ram .
and bro, I've had this phone for less than two month. since I bought it I have flashed nearly a billion roms and tweaks and patches and ...., they don't make a lot of difference, when you can't run better shoes won't do anything.
