[Q] Pre-rooted Odin flashable ROM - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys i know the Note is still fairly new, but i wondered if there are any ROMs out there that dont require you adb pushing root to your phone to get CWM first? I'm a bit noobish with ADB and a tad reluctant to try it.. I was a flashaholic with my SGS1 and once i'd flashed my first Odin based DarkyRom 9.2 i was hooked, but once you have root or a means to get root (via odin) the rest is easy.
I dont wanna risk using ADB to root my phone so if anyone can point me in the direction of a custom ROM that uses Odin that would be great

This post by dr.ketan makes it really easy. No need to install anything on your PC or use the command line.
In his post scroll down to the 16Nov11 Simplified part and follow his instruction. Takes 10 minutes at most and half of it consists of waiting for it to finish

Try searching before posting. This is nothing new, just AT$T trying to reach customers who don't hang out in forums like this. This is the same update that was released on 2/24. If you are currently on a custome ROM, you would have to flash back to stock using Odin. beware, if you update to OEM Froyo you will not be able to root or install CWM with the new 3e recovery. I'd suggest you do some reading up on the issues and benefits of stock Froyo before you make up your mind to upgrade.
Thank you for your help, But if I'm not going to be able to root it back then I wont update. Unfortunately I'm not very experienced and I'm afraid of bricking my phone so flashing roms kinda scares me. I'd love to be brave and do all that kind of things. Oh sorry I tried to search but my app kept force closing.

There is a way to root the stock Froyo, but the old methods either don't work or need to be adjusted. I'd wait until I was at a PC so I could do some searches and read up on the issues. Froyo is definitely better than Eclair and a worthwhile upgrade, but still somewhat lacking compared to what the devs here are cooking up.

Hey guys, do not flash the OTA update manually with CWM, it bricked my tab an will most likely brick yours too.
Make sure your tab is stock 3.0.1 and wait patiently.

Is this what I should do:

Tbh it's not such a crazy thing to think that the OTA was ok to flash with CWM.on the galaxy nexus that was fine to do.
But I learned my lesson and I'm starting to understand the reasons why

Just wondering if anyone has had any success in unbricking their tab yet. I was reading through old forum posts and there was a thread where fricorico had flashed a transformer rom and couldn't load fastboot or download mode. He said that he managed to get his tab into apx mode and could then eventually get the tab back up and running.
I can't post a link because I'm on the xda app but our forum isn't too big to find it and try. Also, not sure what or how to get into apx mode though so this post may be literally useless to most people. But maybe someone knowledgeable will remember something as a result.

hey OP, i followed your video last night and after a few unplugs, task kills, etc. finally rooted my device.
i also followed your step to not flash CWM when rooting, but realize I might want to do that now. is it just as simple as plugging in the device again, then changing the option to CWM and clicking Root in wugs tool?
TIA.

That is a fantastic question. I will attempt to do this and get back to you with a response.
I have always rooted my phones after their warranty period has expired. I was waiting to do this with my N7 also but I see the toolkit had the option to return to stock and relock the device so I assume there is no warranty issue. Also rooting has come a long way and gotten much simpler than 1 to 2 years ago when I was rooting my G1, think will be rooting my N7 this weekend

Don't worry, the Nexus 7 is by far the easiest device to mod/flash/rom, IMHO. Wegfresh is by far my favorite.
Hi there,
If you got one than u have a fine taste. hehe. Its a brilliant piece of device. Congrats.
Regarding the flashing and stuff, gotta be honest, i have mine for two weeks now and still no flashing. It feels so great with stock mode still, so flashing will not happen for now. But good luck with it.

You don‘t really need to root for general everyday usage. Stock Android is already free of crapware unlike most other builds that OEMs use.
