Galaxy Tab 10.1 - Device not recognised
Hi,
I have the same issue, I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. This all worked last week and now it is simply not recognised. I have uninstalled all of the drivers and re-installed them again but with no luck. I am wondering if MS has pushed another dodgy update again! The Tab is at 3.1 and is rooted... does anyone have an idea why this is happening?
*checks forum section*
Umm, Im pretty sure this is the Galaxy Tab 7" section. You just might get help if you post in the correct location.

It's not their fault that this forum is unclearly titled, and you could be a little more helpful too.
Here's the correct forum for your posts...

Edit: I've asked a mod to consider renaming the Galaxy Tab forums to something else like Galaxy Tab 7.0", like the 10" one does, to avoid further confusion.
Make sure the USB Debugging option in Applications is DISABLED. I get consistent detection as usb storage already since I turned that off.
I bought that product last week and got it 3 days ago.
Well the Usb connector is cool if u want to use a regular keyboard or a memory stick
It does give power to my usb headset, but sound keep coming out from speakers
It doesnt give enought power to my usb Goflex Freeagent external Hard drive
As for the SD connector, well here come my questions since i didnt have any SD card nearby and i want to know before buying one.
Can I put my titanium backup/rom manager backups on an external SD card ?
Can i put Movies on the external SD cars and then watch them on my tab ?
I ask this last question because i got quite a few games that are taking lots of internal space and i only have the 16gb tab. I like 720p movies but they weight around 4gb and thats pretty much all the space i have left on the tab so i though i could put them on an external SD since my external HD cant be plug into the tab.
sorry for my poor writting skills, i hope u guys understand what i mean
please i need help on thoses two questions
I had similar questions, but apparently these aren't the forums to ask them.... sigh
Where did you purchase these gadgets at???
You should specify which tab you own.
Here is the 7" (1st gen./classic) tab forum and there is (sadly) no official Samsung "Usb and SD connection kit" for our tabs.
Hardware wise it should be possible to use kits made for the current 10.1" tabs, but there is no OTG (USB On The Go /host-mode) support in the ROM.
Regards, Juergen
..... this is the second subject i start in the wrong section
but since some of you read it here, i will anwser here and starting a new subject, so if we dont get any anwsers here check THERE!!!!
Yes i got the galaxy tab 10.1
yes i got the official samsung usb/SD card connector kit
I tried to read a movie from a memory stick plugged into the usb connector that was plugged into the tab and it did work but, video player like moboplayer arent flipping the screen, this mean that the stick and connector are in the 30pin connector wich is at the bottom of the tab so u cant watch a movie with the tab standing in the portrait position (see picture)
Do you guys know a videoplayer that will rotate the screen so my sd card or memory stick would at the top ?
Hi all,
after using the touchpad for couple of days, I sem to mis the following functions:
Access to my Android folders from WebOs, I understand that it got a WebOs, but when there is 32GB on the touchpad or 16GB for that matter a file explorer would prove handy.
The other issue I miss in both WebOs and Android is the USB host, there is a youtube video explaining that the touchpad does not have enough power to connect a USB memory or keybord or USB anything! and shows a work around, but not so practical.
The btouchpad got a 6800 mA battery, while my Galaxy S II got 1650 mA battery, yet my SGSII phone can host quite well! not to mention other cheap chinese tablets.
Is it a software issue that could be updated?
Well I'm pretty sure with the webOS file manager you can see the same internal SD as long as its not hidden. I don't know what you mean by android files.
The thing about the USB host is firstly the TouchPad doesn't have a full sized USB port so most peripherals would be impossible or impractical. That would only make sense for the producers to not give the voltage overhead to achieve some crazy mess of adapters and wires in a machine that was meant to be wholly wireless and cloud based. HP gave you a 50GB box account so you wouldn't need a USB flash drive and Bluetooth so you van get their Bluetooth keyboards and mice.

Thanks for the reply,
to browse the folders in webOS(I mean all the folders, even those created by android, downloaded in Android) it took I don't know what to call it but it is the equivelant of rooting or jil breaking.
Did not expepriment yet with USB host.
You must have been in a situation where you meet somebody somewhere has couple of gigs files in a USB memory to transfer to you, all that is around you is your phone or tablet , easiest way is to transfer it right there and then.
Not something that you wil need everyday , but very very handy to have when you need it, even cheap chinese tablets can do it, many phones can do it, Archos does it from day one. it is alot more common and main stream than the way you describe it.
thanks again for your input

Usb host mode is only available with a powered usb hub and a "Y" cable as the micro usb port on the TP does not supply enough power to use without the powered hub. For file transfers between devices I would recommend some of the excellent wifi transfer programs.
As for accessing android files within WebOS, all you need is internalz Pro file manager. WebOS does not require any sort of "Jailbreaking" to access files. Install preware on the webOS side and tweek to your hearts content.

Are you sure? Did you use this? Because it looks like this thing have 160ma battery, which is simply a joke.
OP, there is still a chance that self-powered Host is possible, but it's not guaranteed and it's not the first priority for devs.

It depends on your needs and maybe other options do the same or even better than a USB connection.
in case you need quick access to the Touchpad have a look at Airdroid or some ftp-server (e.g. swift-ftp).
It is very easy and comfortable with these apps.

Dear friends
First of all welcome as its my first post here
I really like tf701 even though here in eu it's not as cheap as in us
Anyway before buying it I'd like to post some q.
I have no android experience so please forgive my ignorance.
1. Can I use my usb 3.0 external drive, explore it, do some basic file operations etc?
2. It's usb powered one so do I need any additional accessories?
3. Can I host iphone, transfer music and manage apps?
4. I'm going to Asia for couple of years and I don't have laptop,
Most of the time I will not have internet access
Should I get tf701t?
The other device I'm considering is samsung xe700t1c.
Actually my only requirements are compatibility with
usb hdd, iPhone as mentioned above plus good display so other
Recommendations are also welcome
Thank you in advance for your reply
The tablet has an excellent display. As far as syncing with an iPhone, no android tablet can do that as iTunes is required for syncing with an iPhone and iTunes is incompatible with android, unless it is jailbroken with a certain tweak {I forgot the name} installed, but no guarantee that would work either, if you want a tablet that would be able to sync with the iPhone I would suggest a windows tablet that is running full windows OS 8 if you need to sync your iPhone, but I don't think any would support use of an external hdd, and I would suggest syncing your music and stuff before you go on the trip so you don't have to while on the trip. I have not tested using a external hard drive on the tablet, but I think it would work as long as you have the tablets keyboard dock and a power supply, but no guarantee on this.
There are apps (can't recall names) that allow android to sync with itunes I thought?
Using iTunes with Android - shudder! [emoji79]
I switched everything to Android to get AWAY from that horrible piece of software.....

It is a bag-o-****e I had to install it for my dad the other day and it completely messed up his ipad.....
Hey guys, as the title says - I am having difficulty with transferring files across from my Samsung S21 Ultra to my PC.
I have tried:
- Developer mode, enable USB Debug
- ^ + set default debug to be FTP
- keypad *#0808# and select MTP+ADB
- In the notification bar, clicked the 'charging' notification (that sends me to battery, not to pick another option)
I do not have the original samsung cable as it was of poor quality and failed after 2 months however I am using Anker cables, I use them for file transfers on other devices such as cameras, VR headsets and other phones - they work perfectly fine on everything except my S21 Ultra. I have also tried different PCs/Laptops in case its a driver issue.
Phone specs:
Model number - SM-G998B/DS
Running the latest version of Android.
If anyone can help me, that would be great. I really don't want to factory reset as that means losing the things I want to keep anyway which is just a lose lose.
If you can't find a solution quickly right now, then just use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.primftpd&hl=en_US&gl=US
FE Explorer can also do something similar.
Or, Samsung Flow or something else.
Also, are you mostly trying this on Windows or something else?
Ensure usb-drivers for Samsung phones are installed on your pc. E.g. by installing smartswitch on you pc.

No need to install anything.
If it's Windows, just go to Windows Update at some point after you connect the phone.
Click "Check for Updates" and/or go into "Optional Updates" and you'll find that the driver is waiting to be installed ON YOUR COMMAND.

Surely I wouldn't need an additional app to transfer files? I'm doing this on the latest build of Windows 10 21H2 and also on a Windows 11 laptop, my P20 Pro transfers just fine but the S21 Ultra doesn't read anything as something other than a charger.

Do you have super display installed? I had an issue where I had super display installed and could not connect my phone for file transfer until I turned the super display service off in my services on Windows.
I am having the same issue and as I can recall it was after the recent update strange may be.
Open driver manager from within control panel, right click on portable devices and update MTP driver for Samsung phone. Press allow on your phone and you should be good to go.
I'm using Solid Explorer over WiFI, no issues
If you're using a corporate windows you need to install the media feature pack. Otherwise just try a different cable, some don't work. I had the same issue when using my old huawei cable, used the one that came with s21u and was fine.
Try disabling DeX in the phone settings. It worked for me..
Just a quick question guys, does the S21 Ultra come with a USB 3 data speed cable or is that something I'd have to buy on amazon etc. Thanks.
