[Q] Volter with Higher OC? - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My tab is stable at 1.3ghz Stock volts. What volts should i try when trying to oc over that? Battery time is not a problem.

isnt 1.2ghz a liitle extreme? what's so important that cannot run on 700-800mhz?
Before asking you should have tried searching the forums because there are a lot of threads and post about overclocking and about different cpu configurations
Sorry I haven't search the forum...I have tried milestone overclock and overclock my phone to 1.2Ghz...its ok but eventually the it make my phone slow after 8hrs of testing it

What rom are you running....what are your clock speeds?

What rom and over clock are u guys running?
I'm currently using JT's AOSP ICS 3.1 and using SetCPU to over clock at 1200 Max and 400 min on demand. Gotta say that this baby is running very very smooth. I'll try to post my test times and maybe we can get a comparison going on who is pushing their SGT's.

I think you're in the wrong Galaxy Tab forum. This is about the original 7" SGT.
Galaxy Tab 10.1 Forum
....I posted this on my 7" galaxy tab.....and coincidentally the very tab I am talking about. Not the 10.1. ;-)

Overcome 4.1, 1.3ghz smartassv2 with Voltage Control
thanks to kvswim =-D
Think I may flash overcome tomorrow as the ics build still has some bugs that currently are annoying me more than I thought.

Overcome 4.1 1.4Ghz (uc when I can b bothered)
Ondemand gov
Btw what's different between smartassv2 & ondemand
Which is best?

Smartassv2 is essentially a more aggressive version of conservative, which in turn seems to be a more aggressive version of ondemand.
They will all try to stay as low frequency until an app requires it.

Overcome 4.1 OC 1.3GHz - min 100MHz UV -75mV on all settings upto 1.0Ghz, -50mV up to 1.3Ghz
Ondemand gov, but I may change to the Smartass per the comments here.
ICS Alpha3 1,4 ghz with voltage control
CM9 ICS @ 1,3 since @1,4 tab freezes on this build..
I am also using jt1134's build. I find that it will crash at >1.2 so I keep it at 1.2 with ondemend. I use the setCPU app.
I was running alpha3 but i change to boca rc1 and finally yesterday change to the most and exiting and the best rom. I change my galaxy tab P1000N to cm9 ICS with the new humbertos kernel, and today submit the new fix of sbradymobile, i o/c with 1.4 ghz max and 100 min with lagfree. dude this is fking awesome no freeze and so fast, they have a few bugs but all is good, i can connect with usb storage now the bugs are only animations in the theme but all is incredible!!! i recommend u if u have the same tab humberto is making the heaven of the galaxy tab

[Q] Can't Overclock my ACE

i know this is noob but here i go,
Well this strange thing that bothers me. when ever i try to OC, with a OC kernel my phone's CPU drops to 600mhz.. donno why and there is no way around it. i tried to OC through CM7.2... its like Setting> Cyanogen > performance.. and there it shows only up to 600mhz. :crying: please help me... also i would appreciate if anyone could recommend a OC kernel for me.
Try SetCPU
Enviado desde GALAXY Ace S II [email protected] 2
What do you mean it drops to 600MHz?
Becuase one thing is Min and Max CPU speed and other is the current speed...
+ Which ROM you have installed?
+ How do you know it drops to 600MHz?
Try setcpu app.

Are you really have the normal S5830? Maybe you have for example cdma edition of Ace (if it exist).

Max oc is 600... Tried setcpu. No good

Oh.and I am using lewa rom with its kernel
Edit: I dug a little bit on specs and I foubd out that my ace is having a 'arm v6 compatible processor rev 5 (v61)... how could this happen. Not what I expected. :'(

Is there any downsides with underclocking?

I noticed there is a CPU control in "ROM Toolbox". I was thinking about underclocking it to 1.2 Ghz.
So my question is, are there any downsides with doing this except that the phone getting a little bit slower?
EDIT: Does it matter with what app i underclock? Setcpu or ROM Toolbox..
Stock kernels does not support this tweaks

Im rooted on Speednote kernel.. My bad, should have mentioned it..
Speedmod does not support those tweaks... You need the notecore OC in order to be able to do so..
It's the same whatever app you use.. To change the frequency... Setcpu /etc

I´ve already tried and it is able to underclock, my question was if there are any downsides with doing this..
Nop

Why uc it slows performance I would try and find a kernel you can undervolt that will save heat and battery because it useing less voltage
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Put it this way. I am running Android 0.8 with the matching kernel (can't remember name) but that UC the graphics I believe and also has options to have min / Max speeds on CPU.
My Max speed is ALWAYS set to 800mhz. I'll be honest, I don't really notice any massive lag or slow down, the odd moment here and there when loading apps or taking a photo, but nothing major.
Battery life is a lot better when underclocked obviously. Give it a try, you may find it perfect for your requirements... it certainly is for mine.

Underclock under 200mhz has some downsides regarding performance/battery consumprion. U should checj the notecore kernel (hydra kernel) and search in there gavin's explanation

Well, i planing on just underclokcing my MAX speed (1.4 Ghz) down to 1.0 or 1.2 Ghz..

Hi Rivan =) ..if you from some reason just want to underclock to 1.0 or 1.2 you can safely do that with rom toolbox or setcpu. There should not be any downsides from doing it in any of those two apps as far as I know, except for that your phone will become a little slower as you mentioned yourself.

Depends on why you are underclocking.
If you are looking for better battery life then you are better off flashing HydraCore (formerly NoteCore) as this is an undervolted kernel, then selecting a low drain governor using ROM Toolbox Pro.

Fastest, stable overclock Zeus v7.04

What is the fastest but stable overclock and undervolting for LG Optimus Black on Zeus v7.04?

Fastest mean 1350 Mhz available in Zeus, but on safeside...1100 is preferrable of most users and is recommended.
In view of voltage (0) default is good.
InteractiveX is the latest and gives better battery backup..

For me,Best overclock is 1300MHz(you can put 1350 if you'd like)governor is smartass v2 and i/o scheduler is deadline. That is good enough for gaming and other stuff. For undervolt,go as" under" as you want

After studying on all Sources, Undervolting renders little or no use to saving power. It also reduces your performance. Take note.

I overclocked to 1350Mhz and my phone constantly restarted so I put it down to 1200Mhz and it seems to be fine for now

You can't OC that much without pushing voltage up aswel.
What do you recommend changing the voltage to if I'm going to overclock to 1350Mhz?

Push it up one unit at a time until it reaches a stable point (Just watch out for heat) . It's better to leave it at 1.2Ghz since I don't think you'll experience any lag at 1.2.
I put it up to 1350Mhz and voltage on the maximum of 5 and so far it's been really smooth without restarting. I'm not too worried about heat as my old Motorola Defy would get to about 60 degrees Celsius and I just played a couple of games and my phone is sitting around 30-40 degrees Celsius

Why don't you take serious the BATTERY HEAT, it will cost life sometimes..
