So, I'm soon expecting a Galaxy Note N7000 for my birthday in two weeks or so. And I've done googling out the wazoo to no avail being able to see if there's an NFC flash like the AT&T one for NFC. But, I came to this. I searched for NFC batteries and came to this website called exportprive and voila! It's a battery for the N7000, presumably from the Korean model, with an NFC chip! Same MaH and all. So I'm wondering, if I jam this sucker into my new phone when it arrives, will it behave as an NFC phone? Or will I need some kinda ICS ROM flash, or tweak to get it working? Or will it just not work and I should give up?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1539569
I actually emailed Samsung support about this and got very confusing answers. They said no NFC support in Gingerbread, but ICS would have it. They kept repeating this, and wouldn't say if I needed to buy a battery with NFC or whether the chip was already in there. Here is their answer:
In relation to your query NFC is not supported with the Gingerbread operation system but future updates such as ICE Cream Sandwich may support this function.
...
Don't fully understand your answer. Do you mean the Galaxy Note may support NFC with ICS at some point in the future, provided that I purchase an NFC battery? Or is there no need to buy an NFC battery?
As the ICS update is soon, I'd be happy to purchase the NFC battery if were likely to be supported, as I would like to develop applications that make use of NFC "smart tags".
Please be clear with your answer.
...
In response to your query, the Samsung Galaxy Note currently would not support NFC with or without an NFC battery. The gingerbread operating system does not support NFC. In the future when the Galaxy Note receives the Ice Cream Sandwich update then the device would have the software that supports NFC.
So there you have it.
But I think the answer is actually no. Samsung customer support just doesn't know anything about the hardware on their phones.
How would ICS communicate with the NFC chip on the battery? I can't believe it has a data bus for that there? Can't see how it would actually be usable.

Well it does... My Galaxy Nexus is exactly the same with the NFC in the battery and it works like a charm.
Now I had the ATT version of the NOTE before I traded it for the International one I have now and what I noticed is the the ATT version has 4 pins / receptors on the battery and the phone itself where the international version only has 3. I am assuming that the 4th pin / receptor would be for the NFC chip and if that is the case then I dont know that the international version is capable of NFC period.
Mmm. Well, I'm sure, absolutely sure, that in the ads on YouTube heralding the great arrival of ICS / premium suite, they would have found a minute or two to tell us that NFC would be available. They didn't, so I think it won't. But I'd love to be surprised to the contrary!

Exactly. there'd have to be a dedicated port for communication and it sounds improbable they'd put one in but not add the feature to the battery.

The GT-N7000 does not support NFC at the hardware level. No software will ever enable NFC on the GT-N7000. No battery will either. The North American Note (SGH-I717) does support NFC, but it does it using two bronze pins in the back of the handset that make contact with two pins in the back cover. This allows the NFC antenna in the back cover to operate. The difference in the appearance of the two types of batteries is trivial.

+1 for that
just ordered my first nexus phone. iPhone sold on amazon so there is no turning back for me. did not like the g2 being expensive and big. this phone is slightly smaller so i think ill like it more especially without that power button on the back lmao. but one think that won't let me sleep tonight is the low battery and the crappy camera shots taken and posted online already.
if they charged you 100$ more would you of liked to see a 12mp camera like on the xperia z1 and the g2's battery ? or is it fine the way it is at the moment because of the low price ?
besides this phone the only other catching my attention is the Z1s, which is a 4.3 screen so its perfect between the iPhone and a bigger phone like this but most importantly its waterproof and i work in the pool industry as well as having expandable memory via micro sd .... if i don't like the nexus 5 whats the return process like in the google play store and does anyone know any other alternatives besides the Z1s form sony xperia ?
Yes I would have been willing to pay maybe $450 for 3000mah battery. The camera shots I've seen so far seem to be pretty adequate/much improved over N4

I agree, I'd pay more if it had a bigger battery but not 50 dollars more, maybe 30 but 50 is pushing it a bit for me just for a battery upgrade. As for the camera, as long as they improved it over the N4 I'll be happy.
The Nexus 4 battery has not been a problem for me, so maybe not.
More mehapixels does not mean better pictures, just putting that out there. That being said I wouldn't mind an extra millimeter to depth for a bigger battery, and maybe a little higher price.

I'll wait to judge the battery when I receive the phone. Camera seems adequate to me. I would pay for a micro sim slot though. 50 bucks for a micro slim? No problem.

LOL, that's what I was thinking of!
Yes. I'm willing to pay like $549 or even $599 if you give me a true flagship.
But knowing the N5's price, I'd say at $599 I'd better be getting 64gb of storage too, maybe a 2MP front camera would be nice too at that point. 1080p right?
Sure, I'd pay more for that. Main attraction of the Nexus range is the developer support, openness, fast updates, pure android, not the price.
Nexus will never be the best of the best. If it was top of the line in every spec, why would you go for any other phone? The nexus would kill all android competition because it would guarantee fast updates along with the best specs. For the sake of android and not screwing other manufacturers, it keeps the competition going but gives a nice price and fast software updates to make up for what it lacks.

You don't need a better battery, did you see the battery improvements Google made yesterday? All audio processing goes go the dsp to save battery, 4G radios are much more efficient than the G2 or note 3. Things like wifi and 4G are more often in a low powered state. So I reckon battery life should be a beast.
And the camera is perfectly adequate with true HDR

Sent from another unlocked T-Mobile iPhone 5, Because they haven't delivered my Nexus 5..!
I was willing to pay 450 euros for a 32 gb+ 3000 mah version :crying: not more than that, hey the LG G2 costs 466 euros (the 16 gb version) so it shouldnt be more expensive than that ... I traded a 3000 mah battery (MAJOR thing for me) and a good camera for stock android (most important thing to me) a matte finish, buttons on the sides, hopeit's worth it google
I'd pay more if they offer me :
1. 3000+ mah battery
2. dual stereo front facing speaker like htc one series
3. micro sd slot
4. maybe slightly more screen size, about 5.3 inch perhaps?
if only nexus 5 have those 4, that will be the most perfect phone this year.
I'd definitely pay more for battery and storage options. I did the math and the manufacturing cost difference between G2 and N5 can't be more than 5 euro!
So yes I'd pay 100 euro on top of 32GB version for a 64 gb version with a bigger battery.
If kitkat will be better in power management, the improvement will apply to a 3,000mAh battery as well!!

For me it's just fine.
I only don't mind to pay until 50€ more so that I could buy it directly from Play Store with no need to use tricks like proxys and forward services.
The General sections on XDA are for tips/tricks/guides/howtos/news or some sort of actual content relevant to the Nexus 5 . Hypothetical situations, opinions, etc don't really belong here.

Hey all,
I have had my Nexus One, since it came out, in fact it was given to me by Google themselves, I love the phone, and thanks to a combination of treating it well, screen protectors and an Otterbox Commuter case it is still in absolute pristine condition and I don't want to part with it. I have also put Cynogen mod on it and a top of he range 32-gig SD card, so it does everything I need.
Also I am on a great sim only contract with 3, and don't want to change it to get a phone from three, when I already love the phone I have.
However the Battery is starting to fade and I need to replace it, and after looking over the web I see that there are a lot of rubbish one's out there and it is very easy to get duped.
So I was wondering if any of you kind folks at XDA developers have had any positive experiences of buying a new battery for the Nexus One.
I would be happy with standard 1400Ma replacement, but would ideally like to increase this a little bit, but don't want to change the back or look of this classic phone in anyway.
I would like to thank you for you time in this matter, and look forward to hearing your lively replies.
Kind Regards - Ashe.
Mugen or anker, most everything else is subpar

Hey thanks for the reply, much appreciated, however any chance you could post me a link to a reputable dealer, and do either mugen or anker do a battery that fits under my original cover but has a genuine greater capacity than, the stock 1400Ma Battery,
Kind Regards Ashe
I would just check eBay or amazon, there is plenty of security there. And yes both out perform the oem and are the same size

Thanks Old Sport, have ordered a 1600Ma Mugen off Ebay, hoping to get a little better battery time off this one than the original, and that after I upgrade my ROM to Kit Kat, it will give my phone at least another 18 months of serviceable life, (really don't like the current crop of giant, android phones, always thought that the Nexus one was the perfect size compromise as well as a design classic)
Kind Regards - Ashe
Just wondering these battery's on eBay gold ones that are I think 2500 is do they last longer and worth buying or not , want some reviews or tips . Thanks dragoncurt

The most important thing you'll have to keep in mind is that this battery is thicker than the original one. Therefore your device will also be thicker and I don't know if that is pretty handy for you.

Well, I am still waiting for my 3600mah battery from ebay : http://www.ebay.com/itm/3600mah-Ext...axy-S-3-III-S3-Mini-i8190-Black-/360674611167 and can't share personal opinions about it, but take a look at this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091111. There are screenshots of how much the battery lasts, and a lot of good feedback on it.
@GXGOW is right, though. It makes your phone look like a Nokia from 10 years ago

note8 is a sealed unit
https://a.aliexpress.com/_UrQnE
I bought this one. It's unlikely to be 4100mah but we will see
I didn't try that battery. But i can tell one thing. Chinese business batteries work well in few days and after, it won't last long as the original one. And its not stable. It causes your phone to loss several percent of power in few minutes especially after u unplug ur charger.
Thanks for the answers.
I succeeded to find Samsung battery.

The source was from "fix your phone in your house" co. they get the battery from the official importer co. of Samsung mobile products in my country.
You should find somthing like this in your country.
i've tried fitting note 9 battery onto note 8 successfully swap over the connecting cable by soldering, phone works powering up but too bad the battery is too wide to fit in
the dimensions of the note 8 original battery are: 88 x 39 x 5 (mm) and the dimensions of the note 9 battery are: 87.7 mm x 41.5 mm x 6 mm
looking at the slot seems like it can handle the biggest battery of dimensions 91.5 x 40 x 6 mm
i found s7 active battery looks identical but couldn't get my hands on the dimensions
if anyone knows the dimensions or know any bigger capacity battery which may fit do share the info here, really appreciate that
