Lock screen wall paper - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

This device continues to frustrate and confound me at every turn. I have tried many times to change the dreadful lock screen wallpaper and it just refuses to change it? I have tried both Go Launcher and the stock TW Launcher to no avail. I cannot wait for people to develop some better ROM for this thing. I think it really wants to be a great device but Samsung & AT& T just don't want us to be happy with it I guess.

settings>screen>screen display>lockscreen>wallpaper

I have done that multiple times still the stock bluish lock screen remains???

Might be a dumb question.....Did you click on OK in the top right corner after resizing the picture?

Did you try widget locker?

Dude, take a deep breath.
Go into Settings/Display/Screen. Do you see where you can change the font and homescreen wallpaper? On that same sub-menu there's another area for lockscreen wallpaper. Click it, it'll take you to the wallpaper cropper. Once you've cropped the image in the wallpaper cropper, be sure to hit OK in the upper right of the screen to save and set.
Alternatively, go into Gallery, find a picture you like, open the menu, it'll give you the option to set as either a homescreen or lockscreen wallpaper, then go through the standard crop process.
Lockscreen Wallpaper is NOT handled by the launcher code, it's an OS level action, FYI.

Croak,
I am by no means an expert but I have been messing with this stuff for a while and I have tried everything including what you mentioned. It does not change no matter what I try. It isn't the biggest deal in the world but I would like to be able to change that ugly lock screen background.

If you've done what I said, and it doesn't work, then something is borked on YOUR SPECIFIC UNIT. Lockscreen wallpaper changing is **** easy in Honeycomb, and it worked fine on both my Tab 8.9 LTE units, Bell and AT&T, both before and after flashing/rooting/overclocking.
If it really bothers you, backup and then factory reset, and if that doesn't help, move on to a reflash of the AT&T firmware. Guarantee that one or the other will solve your problem.
I take it you ARE seeing the option to change in Settings and in Gallery? If so, I suspect it's a permissions issue, and could be an artifact of the ADB fun you had when rooting and overclocking.

Can you fix permissions through adb?

You can, but we have no idea what exactly is fracked, hence the nuclear factory reset option. It's the only way to be sure.

I did a factory reset and can now change the wallpaper. But I lost root and everything else is setup previously what a PIA! Oh well guess I have to re-rooted and start over. On a good note the market seems to work better now was having issues with it loading slow and hanging.

Shouldn't have to re-root, just download SuperUser from the Market.

Yea factory reset shouldn't change the kernel

Well it completely wiped everything. I did the factory reset from the UI not from recovery. No biggie I just reconfigured it from scratch. I found the problem was Quickpic which I like much better than the OEM gallery. But when I set Quickpic to default image handler it borked the lock screen wallpaper option. Once I cleared the defaults and used the gallery I was able to change the wallpaper no problem. Weird issue but I have learned that with Android nothing is surprising.

Cm6 lock screen wallpaper

I can't seem to get the wallpaper to change on the lock screen on cm6. If i use a live wallpaper its no problem but any downloads from my SD i use i end up getting a stock wallpaper like the grass or the colorful light spec, one only on the lock screen not the launcher. Its pretty weird and i can't figure out how to change it. Any ideas?

i am experiencing the same problem...
same here on the CM6R1 lock screen it has a green grass background. not the live wallpaper swaying grass, but a photo of grass. i dont see a place to change it.
If you're using a launcher like adw, that has happened to me before. To fix it, I cleared the defaults, and loaded into the default launcher, changed the wallpaper, changed it back, and it was fixed.
Then again, this is on cm6, and I'm not using cm so I wouldn't know. Just a tidbit.

GSB Lockscreen Wallpaper

Where is it located at? And can it be changed? Running GSB 1.6
I thought the lockscreen was transparent and whatever you set as your wallpaper was your lockscreen

Maybe they'll eventually add that in to CM7's settings. Right now AFAIK the only way to do this is through third-party apps like WidgetLocker, which I use (Look & Feel/Alternative Wallpaper & Select Wallpaper). It's a pay app, but you can try it trial. I love being able to have any normal widget on my home screen.

I don't see a trial version. Do you get to use it for a while before it either stops working or you pay for it?

Well, it was many months ago when I bought it so I might have been wrong about the trial. That sucks.
Actually, wallpapers don't seem to be working, at least with Widget Locker on GSB at the moment. Sorry for the misinformation. I'm going to let the author know; I talked to him about an issue a long time ago.

[Q] Will using a custom launcher remove blinkfeed?

I guess it should, but maybe one of those who got their phones already can confirm this.

Yes, it does remove blinkfeed. Tested with apex launcher.
It will still be a background process, will it not? Even though its not visible. Like sense Rosie/prism itself

Torxx, you wouldn't happen to know a way we can have a alternative launcher running and keep blink feed?
I like it but I want my old Nova Launcher back
Alternatively, If I have to make do (which I expect I will have to lol) How can I change the Icons on the home screen Dock?
Or am I just being as thick as a plank??....
Cheers
To rearrange the dock icons, open the app drawer and then drag the unwanted ones back into drawer. You might need to drag them to where they're supposed to go (i.e. I have my drawer sorted automatically and had to drag the camera to where it'd be in the drawer).
You can only have the 4 apps on there but if you remove any, you're free to put whatever you want in its place.

It would be active, continuously streaming content to its interface on the sense launcher
Best option would be to change launchers and then freeze Sense
Just un-check all the options/feeds leaving blinkfeed blank. This way it fetches nothing. Then run you new launcher.

Thanks for the tip but Ive figured that out. The issue Im having is, If I use a Icon changer, it drops a widget on the home screen that is essentially a shortcut to the app you pick.
Because its a widget, it wont let me move it to the dock at the bottom...
I know I could probably go hinting to try and change the pings manually, I just really cant be bothered as I know It wont be long before I flash another rom.
Any Ideas?
Freeze it in titanium if you don't want it.

[Q] QuickPic/HTC Sense: no portrait option for wallpaper

Hello,
Has anyone experienced a problem trying to set a wallpaper in portrait orientation from QuickPic? In my case, if I browse the gallery in QuickPic, find the picture and try to use the HTC Gallery (Sense 5.5, Android Revolution HD 53), it simply doesn't open. If I try to use QuickPic itself, it only allows me to crop using a fixed landscape cropper.
Please give me some ideas how to get rid of this annoyance.
Thanks!

Yeah. I get the same thing. Unfortunately I think it's an issue with QuickPic. I think its default is to assume that the homescreen is to use scrollable wallpaper, so when you swiped through your different homescreens the wallpaper would shift along with it. That's how it was on my previous phone (HTC Inspire). And it's not actually setting it to landscape by rotating the dimensions. It's setting the width at 2x the screen size. The screen dimension of my Inspire was 480x800. If I wanted to use scrollable wallpaper, I would choose an image 960x800.
Since the m7 doesn't use scrollable wallpaper in the stock launcher (and I don't think there's an option to turn that on, but I could be wrong), QuickPic kinda screws that up. So it's better to use the stock Gallery app to set wallpaper. It will set the correct aspect ratio with the crop tool. Open the Gallery app, find the pic you want to use then set as Wallpaper (not QuickPic Wallpaper). Or you can go into System Settings>Personalize>Wallpaper, Select Wallpaper from Gallery.
On a related note, some 3rd party launchers allow you to set the wallpaper to be a single screen or scrollable. I use Go Launcher and if I have it set to single screen, I can use QuickPic to set the wallpaper and it sets the crop tool with the proper portrait aspect ratio.
Thanks, sharksfan7! I figured it might be something of the sort. I'll send a note to the QuickPic developer, maybe he/she will be able to sort this in a future update.

However, that brings me to my second question: the stock Gallery app does not open if I browse to the pic in QuickPic and try to set it as a "Wallpaper". Any idea what might be causing this? Anyone?

Noticed that as well. Again, probably a QuickPic issue. If you have Google+ installed you'll probably see a "Wallpaper" option using Google Pictures in that Set As list as well. If I select that, the whole thing just crashes.
If you go directly into the Gallery when you want to set wallpaper it works as it's supposed to.

Strangely after reading this, I went to QuickPic to have another go at setting a wallpaper and the 'crop box' was in portrait mode! Either coincidental or random update or I just chose the right picture!!

Question Wallpaper resetting

Title says it. I have a nice Nova Launcher setup on my S21 Ultra (TMobile), but every so often I would see a "Wallpaper applied successfully" while using an app and when I go back to the homescreen, my wallpaper changes to something else. The image doesn't even look like it's on my phone. I don't understand why it's doing this and I don't know how to stop it.
The dark themed image is what my display is intended to look, the other is what it'll change to. I thought Zedge was the culprit but no. I thought Samsung's wallpaper setting, doesn't seem to be that either. Any help would be appreciated. I'm willing to even factory reset my device
.
Do you have any other wallpaper apps installed? What makes you think it is Nova launcher applying the screen?
You might get logcat set up, and if you can make it reset the wallpaper, the log should tell you what is doing the reset.
I don't have that problem and I use nova launcher. I have a different wallpaper for the lock screen and another for the regular home screen
@GeekasaurusWrex what types of widgets are you using? I really like your setup.
I was using live wallpapers from Wallop and was having the same issue! But switched to a downloaded image and it hasn't happen since. I think it might be an all setting the wallpaper being the issue. Try to download it from the app and then let nova set it
