Anyway to make shortcut to camcorder? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Some Android phones have an additional shortcut to the camcorder mode of the camera making it quicker to take a video instead of opening the camera then switching to video mode. Is there a way to do this on the Note?
Thanks.

Thanks. That was too easy I should have checked the Market.

What features do you want updated/integrated from Samsung?

Let us start a summary of features we want from Samsung.
- Remote-Viewfinder with all functions like the camera app itself
- manual whitebalance (within Auto-Mode and easier accessing)
- manual focus
- face recognition in auto-mode
Sent from my GT-P5110 using xda premium
-forced flash light in automatic mode
There is manual white balance feature, but not in automatic mode.

Oh hell, yes i found it. Not really easy accessible and usable. I changed my feature-request ^^
Sent from my GT-P5110 using xda premium
-an API for manual control of the camera in our own apps, ex: shutter speed, Aperture, everything in "expert" mode, etc.
-time lapse option that bypasses the preview requirements. ex: time lapse with screen off to save battery
-unlimited continuous mode. ex: take pictures as fast as hardware allows and save them until the SD card is full
checking for protrusions in front of the lens when camera is activated on start up or activated by apps
else this happenshttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38367332#post38367332
Speaking of remote, how about publishing the remote protocol so we could write special purpose apps with vastly greater control than just launching a "take picture" intent.
And two new options in settings:
1) Don't start camera on power up.
2) Remember my default preference for using the sdcard, don't keep asking on every power up.

+1 for these 2
evSril afflicted
Only owned mines for a few hours now
but
+ 1 : Don't start camera on power up., straight to dashboard would be better
+1 for some type of Focus Control
:- 30 Second Shutter Window instead of 16 seconds
:- Different Flash Modes, maybe its me but I can only see auto, Rear ,Slow Fill etc.
hello
it was helpful thanks
- advanced panorama features like in LG's new phone (LG G Pro) and Samsung WB850F compact camera
- 3D panorama
- action panorama
-3D photo with one lens (as in WB850F)
Normal voice phone calling!
+1 To remember SD card setting on start up
+1 To not start Camera App on start up
+1 Flash auto fill mode
+1 Higher resolution Panorama modes
+1 3D Photo Options
What about untimed video recording option? Currently limited to 25 minutes.
And of course the most important:
PLEASE ALLOW NORMAL VOICE PHONE CALLING!
Sv: What features do you want updated/integrated from Samsung?
+100000000 for most of those named earlier.
Personally, I am really disappointed with the lack of fine-grained manual controls (even in manual mode). What I would really appreciate is
manual focus control
manual flash control (mostly intensity)
smarter handling of flash in all modes: when popping up the flash in auto-mode, chances are, I did it on purpose. If the light conditions don't seem to make use of flash necessary, use it for fill-in, already.
better use of screen estate / refined controls in manual mode. Of course, the huge dials for manual settings do work, but at least for me, they simply steal focus from taking the image. Give me onscreen buttons to modify the function of the zoom-rocker in real time instead, as is done with the dialer on SLRs: hold button for AE and the rocker changes exposure compensation instead of zooming etc...
Sent from a compact camera (Samsung Galaxy Camera, EK-GC100)
Manual focus control
Manual flash control
Faster and better autofocus
Manual White Balance, Can make phone calls maybe because for now i fell interrupted with no native app phone call... when i want check balance of my sim card i should swap to another phone and new features on camera like sgs 4 :fingers-crossed:
i need Manual focus control, Manual flash control
Manual focus slider
+1 for all above,
personally I've mostly missed manual focus, as I like to take shots of moving objects, or objects that are not yet in view.
is there any workaround app for the manual focus ?
also full remote controls for the remote viewfinder would be nice.
+1 dont start camera on power up !
like every digicam has a switch for viewing pictures without turning on lens motor ..

[updated]Found a way to use tap to focus while recording in 720P 20mbit!

Just wanted to let you guys know that I managed to get 720P 20mbit smooth day/night fps stays 30 while using the lgCamera app from PlayStore!
The best part is you can tap to focus!
My videos are amazing with this focus feature, I know it's not continues focus but it still beats the normal camcorder by a lot.
1920:1080 < 1280:720 with tap to focus feature
Download from here (it includes the latest Pro and standard versions provided by the developer himself)
Things you should setup on first run, open up lgCamera, switch to video mode with the upper right icon, press the menu button on the phone and setup these things:
1.White balance: AUTO
2.Effect: NONE
3.Scene mode: AUTO (If you change this to ACTION mode, after recording when you press STOP the lgCamcorder will freeze/crash, so just keep default AUTO the fps doesn't drop in low light while recording anyway)
4.ISO: AUTO
5.Exposure compensation: 0
6.Anti banding: 50
7.Focus mode: AUTO
8.Video resolution: 1280:720 (Every time you try to change this, the lgCamcorder app will crash, even if the resolution is supported, just leave it 1280:720 as it is default)
9.Video encoder: H.264
10.Video file format: MPEG4
11.Video bitrate: 20Mbit (this is a HIGH bitrate and depends on which class of SD card are you using, I've tested with class 10, so if you are facing problems try with lower bitrate)
12.Video framerate: 30
13.Scroll down to "Other settings", open it, find the option "Folder to save photo and video" and navigate it to "mnt/sdcard/external_sd/any_folder_you_want"
That's it for setting up part. Exit the lgCamcorder app.
Now every time you want to record a video, just open lgCamera, switch to video mode with upper right icon, start recording, tap whenever you want to focus, that's it. IF YOU DON'T DO IT THIS WAY THE RECORDING WILL JUST FREEZE/CRASH.
Here's the sample(not the best one low light, my videos on day light are awesome it's just my internet connection preventing me to upload more videos): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2dAaRhnKxo
Is this the stock LG Camcorder or some application?
I use stock LG camcorder in Parandroid CM10, and I cannot set bitrate.

LG Camcorder is a bit buggy especially if you downloaded the apk from somewhere else than the PlayStore, so go ahead and download it via PlayStore, install it, open up the Camcorder, set the Scene to Action, set the bitrate to 20, exit LGCamcorder... wait a bit.
Open it up again, switch to LGCamera by pressing the upper right button so your in picture taking mode, tap to focus, switch to video taking mode by tapping the upper right button again, try to record, it should record without a problem, try and tap to focus it should work perfectly and you should see sharp video!
Every time you wanna record again just go open up LGCamcorder, swith to picture taking mode, tap to focus, switch back to video taking mode with that upper right button then record and tap to focus when you want to focus!
That's it basically! I might upload a video to show you how good focus is in videos, imo amazing!
EDIT: You have to use this combination so the recording will work, I mentioned that the LGCamcorder is buggy, that's the only way I found that it doesn't fail.
EDIT2: Here's the sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2dAaRhnKxo

I tried it but it simply does not want to focus while I'm shooting video. After I I focus on picture mode and start recording, the focus stays like macro and when I tap it remains the same. Do I need to be rooted or have a custom rom? I still have Android 2.3.4. Official. I really need to have touch to focus, because let's say I want to make a review of a tablet. I need to focus at it a bit far away and then focus macro at the buttons and at the screen. It doesnt even let me focus when it is paused :S. Thanks in advance.

LGCamera look nice with many features but... That one crashes or freeze the phone all the times.
Tested on DM ICS, Kowalski CM10 and latest CM10.1
With ICS v30b official firmware, I can select the type of focus with lgCamera (auto, infinity, fixed and continuous) but I can't get more than 15fps in the recording because the app seems to ignore the FPS setting.
Here is how i got mine to work on tonyp's latest paranoid android v10.
Installed lgcamera
Opened the app
Switched to recording mode
Closed the app with back button
Went to settings/apps then chose lgcamera, clean data and force stop
Then opened up lgcamera switched to video recording mode, went to other settings(debug, flash) and turned off Run on camera button pressed and Set screen brightness to maximum.
Trust me, this is the only way to make it work, i had been fiddling with this **** for hours, now i got my autofocus finally
Didnt work :/

Hi, I tried a lot of methods and when I go into to LGCamera and press back, it doesnt let me force stop. When I start recording, It focuses once and doesnt let you focus anymore. I really need to know how to touch to focus while video. Running stock Gingerbread
I have no idea, im on tonyp's pa as i stated above.
for you guys who are facing problems
First post is a little bit outdated and confusing, sorry about that I should edit it.
Just to be safe, uninstall and reinstall lgCamera from scratch.

That's it for setting up part. Exit the lgCamcorder app.
Now every time you want to record a video, just open lgCamera, switch to video mode with upper right icon, start recording, tap whenever you want to focus, that's it. IF YOU DON'T DO IT THIS WAY THE RECORDING WILL JUST FREEZE/CRASH.
Really want to try this, but I can't get lgCamera installed. Anyone who can share the apk? Thanks
here ya go

I did exactly what you said, I don't have Anti-banding feature though. Its 720p but still no touch to focus :/ Samsung Galaxy SII is the mobile I have
I'm not exactly sure about Galaxy S2,
but from what I have been reading S2 already has continuous auto-focus, why would you want touch to focus anyway?
Can't get "tap to focus" to work either. Seems to automatically focus and won't focus on touching while recording.
Is there a way to record 1080p with lgcamera ?
It always make my Optimus 2X crash, what settings are you using if you found a way to do so ?

The only difference for my paid lgCamera is : It always crash my phone when I use it as camcorder and at any resolution/bitrate.

Sweet!!! Thanks, I've been half-assed searching for this apk for a couple days now.. Much thanks for the link!!

Glad you like it guys. :cyclops:

Any way to turn off Optical Image Stabilization?

Video recording (which can be ruined if you don't turn off CAF) can also be ruined by OIS - especially if you are panning left or right, you get a kind of choppy effect which looks awful.
Is there anyway of turning of the OIS?
I have been doing some reading and it seems the unit can be run in Manual as will as Auto mode for test purposes.
Seeing the fix for the front camera being rotated (after Hal3 setting) using an xml file,
I wondered if there was a similar setting in an xml file that could be flashed to set OIS to manual?
I await your learned answers.
If you are using snap camera, there is an option to disable stabilisation in the video recording settings menu. See the attached screenshot

Ok Will try
thanks.
Some of these camera apps have their own software stabilisation which you'd be turning off but I'll give it a go.
Sadly setting does not seem to be present in the version I downloaded

Video recording does no work when EIS enabled

My camera app doesn't record video when EIS is enabled.
When I switch from photo to video the transition effect blures the live image and doesn't refresh anymore. So I can't see any movement, just a blurred still image. I can't interact with the buttons from the top anymore (so no way to get into settings). I can only switch the mode - to photo or slow motion for example.
Any idea why this is happening? It worked fine until today.
I am on stock MIUI 10.2.13 global version.
You can wipe the data of the camera app and probably will be ok
No... I factory resetted the phone... No luck.
This is bigger than I thought, so I made another thread here:

Admins, please close the comments here or delete thread, it is now redundant.

Shortcut to video mode of stock camera?

Hello,
Is there a way to make a shortcut to the videomode of the stock camera, that I can place on the homescreen? For photos, I use a modded google camera port. But for video I'd like to use the stock camera, without having to swipe to get to the video mode.
Thanks in advance!
