Let us start a summary of features we want from Samsung.
- Remote-Viewfinder with all functions like the camera app itself
- manual whitebalance (within Auto-Mode and easier accessing)
- manual focus
- face recognition in auto-mode
Sent from my GT-P5110 using xda premium
-forced flash light in automatic mode
There is manual white balance feature, but not in automatic mode.

Oh hell, yes i found it. Not really easy accessible and usable. I changed my feature-request ^^
Sent from my GT-P5110 using xda premium
-an API for manual control of the camera in our own apps, ex: shutter speed, Aperture, everything in "expert" mode, etc.
-time lapse option that bypasses the preview requirements. ex: time lapse with screen off to save battery
-unlimited continuous mode. ex: take pictures as fast as hardware allows and save them until the SD card is full
checking for protrusions in front of the lens when camera is activated on start up or activated by apps

Speaking of remote, how about publishing the remote protocol so we could write special purpose apps with vastly greater control than just launching a "take picture" intent.
And two new options in settings:
1) Don't start camera on power up.
2) Remember my default preference for using the sdcard, don't keep asking on every power up.

+1 for these 2
evSril afflicted
Only owned mines for a few hours now
but
+ 1 : Don't start camera on power up., straight to dashboard would be better
+1 for some type of Focus Control
:- 30 Second Shutter Window instead of 16 seconds
:- Different Flash Modes, maybe its me but I can only see auto, Rear ,Slow Fill etc.
hello
it was helpful thanks
- advanced panorama features like in LG's new phone (LG G Pro) and Samsung WB850F compact camera
- 3D panorama
- action panorama
-3D photo with one lens (as in WB850F)
Normal voice phone calling!
+1 To remember SD card setting on start up
+1 To not start Camera App on start up
+1 Flash auto fill mode
+1 Higher resolution Panorama modes
+1 3D Photo Options
What about untimed video recording option? Currently limited to 25 minutes.
And of course the most important:
PLEASE ALLOW NORMAL VOICE PHONE CALLING!
Sv: What features do you want updated/integrated from Samsung?
+100000000 for most of those named earlier.
Personally, I am really disappointed with the lack of fine-grained manual controls (even in manual mode). What I would really appreciate is
manual focus control
manual flash control (mostly intensity)
smarter handling of flash in all modes: when popping up the flash in auto-mode, chances are, I did it on purpose. If the light conditions don't seem to make use of flash necessary, use it for fill-in, already.
better use of screen estate / refined controls in manual mode. Of course, the huge dials for manual settings do work, but at least for me, they simply steal focus from taking the image. Give me onscreen buttons to modify the function of the zoom-rocker in real time instead, as is done with the dialer on SLRs: hold button for AE and the rocker changes exposure compensation instead of zooming etc...
Sent from a compact camera (Samsung Galaxy Camera, EK-GC100)
Manual focus control
Manual flash control
Faster and better autofocus
Manual White Balance, Can make phone calls maybe because for now i fell interrupted with no native app phone call... when i want check balance of my sim card i should swap to another phone and new features on camera like sgs 4 :fingers-crossed:
i need Manual focus control, Manual flash control
Manual focus slider
+1 for all above,
personally I've mostly missed manual focus, as I like to take shots of moving objects, or objects that are not yet in view.
is there any workaround app for the manual focus ?
also full remote controls for the remote viewfinder would be nice.
+1 dont start camera on power up !
like every digicam has a switch for viewing pictures without turning on lens motor ..

Ok so I keep feeling that this question is being ignored but I think we might be able to fix this annoying low FPS problem on the Kaiser. Many are convinced that the actual camera hardware is causing this low FPS problem or that the lack of 3d drivers is the culprit.
If this is the common consensus then tell me, why when i Boot into Android the Camera FPS is 1000 times better. (of course using the camera is still buggy) If Android's protocol or what ever you call it to access the camera can increase the performance tri-fold, why can't we achieve this same effect on Windows Mobile?
You can make the windows mobile camera as fast as android... here's the trick:
- Start your camera.
- When you get image, lay you cellphone on your hand, covering the lens completly.
-switch off the cellphone (press 1 time the power button, not hold it)
- wait 3 seconds.
- press power buttin again (wake up)
you'll get a camera as fast as in android, with extremely fast auto-focus, but very dark.
Plus agains android:
-Auto focus
-correct color hue
-full focus length (i think android is limited)
Plus agains WM:
-No mambo jambo to get this (start camera app and you're set.)
-Manual Focus (comes handy some times)
You choose....
I am more then aware of this "fix" of covering the lens, however I dont consider that a fix more than a work around.
Also, does not work while Slide to unlock is enabled.
What I'm asking is why can this work without covering the lens in Android but not in WM?
What resolution is the Android camera app set for?
I've noticed that turning down the resolution on the WM camera gives me better FPS.
(or is that just my imagination?)
placebo... at least on my side
bilago, my thoughts exacltly! Is it possible to program a new camera app for kaiser which increase the FPS? or maybe some plugin or fix! or Maybe its ignoreable for developers coz they are concentrating on more important stuff?
But when your not a programmer yourself, its not fair to just ask for something, not thinking of all the hard work involved! So lets just keep hoping!

im happy with this fix!
As a "proper" camera, the unit seems to be missing some things I'd expect by default. How do you turn off auto-focus an focus manually... taking pictures at night - the stars etc - invariably the images are out of focus.
Also auto-exposure control - you can turn that off easily for images but for videos there seems to be no way to turn off the auto exposure - which makes the end product look very amateurish.
Finally whenever I go out at night, the LCD dims, I can't seem to stop that and it dims WAY too much?
Any ideas chaps?

It appears that you cannot turn Auto Focus off but you might be able to find a third party camera app in the Play Store that allows this
Settings for video are sparse it's true and again there is no control over the exposure etc.
I didn't notice the LCD dimming, The camera doesn't have an auto brightness LCD so I am not sure what's causing that. Turning the brightness up from the drop down notification bar is easy enough though.
Sorry these are not the answers you are looking for but we have to remind ourselves that this is a premium camera not a pro camera however.

Thanks for that. I will indeed look out for such an app. Agree with you that it's not a "pro" camera - but for example - on the iPhone who's video handling is equally dire, there's an app that completely compensates by letting you shoot 16:9 with auto exposure, auto focus and auto-white all turned off at the touch of a button. This camera really does need such controls to make it useful for anything other than "party" videos. Its a big disappointment that Samsung would miss off such obvious controls having taken the effort to make a special camera app in the first place.
there are only 2 focus modes as far as I can tell, auto and macro.
night sky shots have worked fine for me using auto focus though.
I made some nice pictures of a crescent moon without a tripod or manual focus, and it was sharp enough to see the craters on the moon.
using manual camcorder under expert you can set the brightness, and white balance for video recording manually(wb is under the settings gear)
lcd dimming: settings gear - general - display brightness
the settings gear is hidden under the > and the expert mode can be accessed through the mode button.
don't be so afraid to dig a bit through settings.
I often see complaints about missing/misbehaving features in apps when it's all available through a settings screen.
EDIT: apprentice: auto brightness works using the camera sensor, so it only works while in the camera app.
Thanks for that - so solved the LCD brightness, but I've gone through all the settings and cannot figure out how to turn off the auto-focus or the auto-brightness. Put your hand in front of the lens - and both kick in whether you want them or not... any ideas anyone?

As far as I can tell in camcorder mode, the one thing you can set - brilliance- is only relative brilliance - the exposure still bobs up and down like a YoYo.... making the movies look terrible - surely guys there has to be a way to turn this off?
Is there as way to set your camera to always normal mode, every time I open camera it defaults to intelligent auto and for me I just find this mode just doesn't work. Especially in gig situations where the lighting conditions are constantly changing it has a fit. Normal mode almost always takes great shots first try but intelligent auto I give up after the 5th blurry shot.
Also has anyone got any great tiles for capturing those great shots?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda app-developers app
Try this: long click on the screen, add shortcut, but do NOT select "app", just look for "camera", and that should offer you a selection of modes; select the one you want, and that shortcut will open always the camera in that mode.
Take a look at the following database (you'll need an app like SQLite Editor):
/data/data/com.sonymobile.cameracommon/databases/cameracommon.db
Such database contains a table named capturingmodes, which appears to contain the configuration to enable/disable camera options.
Open the camera from the homescreen icon instead of the quick launch button,
this opens the camera in your preferred mode.
Hey XDA lovers!
There's this minor annoyance that I'm facing. And with minor, I mean a First-World-Problem BIG annoyance.
You see, I never use the Superior Auto mode of the Xperia Z1. Instead I love shooting at Manual mode with ISO around 50 to 200. Superior Auto always cranks the ISO up to infinity, it seems. The fastest way for me to get to Manual Mode now, is through a shortcut I placed on my homescreen. So to shoot, I have to unlock the device, possibly press the home button, wait and click on the shortcut. The other option is to use the camera quick launch, press the button in the lower right corner before it freezes (happens too often) and then click Manual. Both are equally tiring, considering you can already launch the camera with one press of the shutter button!
So I'm asking the experienced modders on XDA: is there a way to redirect the quick launch shortcut to open the Manual Mode of the camera? Obviously this should require root, which isn't a problem. Is this idea even possible?
Thanks in advance for thinking with me! :cyclops:
(and while we're at it, is it even possible to place the ISO setting in the hotbar so it's just one click away instead of having to dig through the menu? Hmm, I suppose not)
I haven't found a way to do this yet. Manual mode possibly can't be launched with quick launch, but the 8MP can be modified to 15MP or 20MP in Superior Auto mode, with Xposed module called "20MP Superior Auto". In Xposed Installer, go to Downloads, and search this module. But to make it work, you have to enable it in Xposed Installer, select an appropriate option in "20MP Superior Auto" , and after restart, you have to check and uncheck an option in the superior auto setting (any option), and then the mod will work! I've got Xperia Z1C and it works, I tested (even with the 4k and 120FPS also).
Hope it helps !
Found a couple of bugs in the native camera app so far. One of them I posted in another thread which is the inability to turn off the obnoxiously loud camera shutter sound. There are even slider toggles to do it found in two different places in the camera app, but enabling and disabling the toggle does not turn off the sound.
The second one has to do with the beauty mode when taking selfies. When using the selfie camera, if you select the beautification option at the top (the icon that looks like a girl's head), you'll see 3 options at the bottom: Origin, Auto, and Personal. If you select Personal, you can adjust individual settings for things like slim face, smoothing, eye size, skin tone, color and brightness by utilizing a slider for each option. Well with the SMOOTH option, the placement of the slider that you choose NEVER sticks where you want it. For example, if you set the slider to 30 (it goes from 0 to 100) and then go to another option like eye size, and then come back to the smoothing option, the slider will not be where you put it. From what I can tell, the SMOOTH option is the only option where the slider never stays where you put it. It's pretty maddening. I've tried to clear the cache and data of the camera app but that doesn't work. In addition, the slim face option is hit and miss. When adjusting it you can see it trying to slim your face the farther you slide it to the right, but sometimes the app bugs out and it goes back and forth from slim to fat to slim to fat, etc. It's just buggy.
In the multi shot mode the EXIF metadata is not correct. It seems that the EXIF data from one of the modules (the one in focus?) is written to the two other images too.
In the "normal" camera mode the "2x" module works in the 35mm equivalent mode what is about 1.2-1.3x.
In the manual and the 64MP mode the 2x module is cropped an upscaled so that the label 2x is matching.
RAW/DNG images from ProShot show that the "2x" module is in fact a 1.2-1.3x module with an equivalent focal length of 35mm.
Is is also a shame that the multishot excludes the 2x module and incorporates only the 0.5x, 1x and 5x module producing a huge zoom gap in series.
Firmware MyOS12.0.8_A2022PG_G LB camera slows down in video mode, shoots jerkily. how to fix?
