Could a mod or someone that has 10 posts repost this relevant info to the following thread?

Thanks for the comprehensive list, very useful when trying to get an overview of things.
Found a few errors and outdated entries though, corrections listed below.
Also, since the list is only updated sporadically, I think the U/O/N classification is inadequate. An actual date for last top-post-edit seems much more useful since it doesn't need to be updated/maintained even when absolutely nothing happens with the rom.

Do note, I'm not able to send PMs to neither mods or the guy updating the thread, again probably because som moronic rule... so posting a thread is the only way to do it.

I tried that, and even though it was here in Off-topic, that is filled with complete nonsense threads, I GOT WARNED!
When you can't post RELEVANT info to the proper thread, can't PM the thread starter the message, can't PM moderators and can't even post BS in offtopic just to be allowed to post the stuff you wanted to post in the first place... then you have a pretty FUBARed situation.

I think spamming up 10 other threads with nonsense posts is a lot worse than what I got warned for. But it does serve the purpouse of point at how silly the "must first make 10 post before you can add anything relevant to the dev-section"-rule is.

To be honest your attitude is not helping.
The rule works, its there for a reason.... 10 posts in OT DOES NOT give you the right to post in development....
You could have started a thread in the appropriate general device forum instead of this insulting joke of a thread.

Not being allowed to discuss the issue with moderators in PMs, after already being given 1 hoop after the other to jump through, is what is creating the attitude. It's not really userfriendly or helpful in making people feel contributions is wanted.

I'll do that when I actually have 10 threads I feel I can make a meaningful contribution to. Currently I don't, (I am eg able to use search to find existing answers, and "me too"-posts are useless). But I did spend about 10h last 24h reading up on the different desire roms and wanted to give back to the community with corrections/updates to 1 specific thread I myself found useful.

My reply about "scaring away" was regarding requiring 100posts instead.
Also, as a relative newbie to Android phone modding I'm not confident I can make much of a meaningful contribution in Q&A. But as I read through rom & howto threads as well as trying to test out roms, I can still contribute good feedback in those threads. Ironically I'm not allowed.
In any case I'll do what you suggested with the thread in Desire General and let you know here (or will you get a PM from me even if I can't even see a notification that is't been sent?)

New users can't do anything

Hi Guys,
It seems that new users can't really do anything on XDA, a bit annoying especially if they have something interesting to add.

That's because most new users don't do crap. You're probably a rare example.
-10 post limit for off-topic!-
Stop sitting around moaning about it and just post 10 times (useful posts) then you can do anything you want. Not many really.

I find this rather annoying too. Not only are we limited until we post 10 times, but there is a 5 minute delay between each post allowed?
Honestly, I doubt many people come to XDA Developers as a complete newb...

Explanations?

Earlier today, I started a thread telling a little story about Android. But, for no reason, it was closed shortly after. No explanations, nothing.
I did it in the right section, it was not offensive or rude, I don't know what the hell I did wrong. I don't mind my topics being closed, but with no explanations, this is just bullsh*t.
If somebody could explain it to me, it'd be cool.

Thought it might be funny to tell a story about my two years using Android using a kinda-dramatic style, but I don't get where it's against the rules.

Contrary to popular belief, off-topic is not a place where you can open a thread for anything you like and it just flies. It follows the same rules that apply everywhere else in the forum. In this particular case, the rule is about not opening threads that already exist. I did link you to two threads that were relevant to your post.
As for this thread, if you have a problem with a mod decision then by all means question it, but don't open a thread to do it. Send a PM to the mod in question (namely me, in this case) and politely discuss it with them.

You are going to draw unwanted attention from a mod so I suggest you stop doing what you are doing in the fashion in which you are doing it. These restrictions are in place for a reason, mostly to stop spam posters.
Read this first please:
[GUIDE] How to be a New User (and not a noob)
If you have any other question afterwards you will know what to do.
One other thing. Is it so much to ask that you read for a bit first, pick up some knowledge and experience, help a few people in the 90+% of the site which is completely open to you, to participate with quality posts instead of BS posts, in return for being able to post into any of the ROM threads from any dev on this site?

Yes. You also don't get away with spamming for ten posts. Read this 19 times.....
Good day sir.
There are already so many threads here in OT that you can post to for your ten post, it should be extremely easy for anybody that takes one minute to look. Use the 'game threads' like last letter and similar word and such. Problem solved.
EDIT: Mods, why not make it so new users can't start a new thread until the 10 post limit is reached?

Firstly its "AOSP" not "ASOP" and second, why on earth didn't you even do a quick google of what it meant first before creating a topic?
because they stopped letting me ban for people post questions in general or people trying to be a smart arse, and explaining in how in anyway my pst positions as a moderator or lack thereof makes my question any less valid. and also as a long time member of this forum you too should find op behavior stupid as hes turning this forum into the cluster of knowledge it was when i joined into a orgy of DUURRR
(PPSSTTT, just because im dont have to look after you people, doesn't mean i cant point out what mistakes you make)

Agreed!
I can understand being too lazy to go buy groceries and ordering a pizza instead. I can understand being a bit lazy sometimes and playing more PS3 than going to the gym.
I will never be able to understand being too lazy to Ctrl+T and doing a Google search. I'm lazy myself, but that's just downright impressive.
I don't know if it is laziness as more effort went into creating a thread than doing a search. Why, if you have heard of AOSP and the Cyanogenmod team, not go to the effort of doing a small bit of research and seeing what one offers over the other? I mean if your interested in something, your willing to put in a bit of effort to fulfil that interest are you not?
A Simple search of "Difference between AOSP and AOKP" produces over 30,000 results.
I don't think you'll struggle finding your answer.

OPO official forum sucks

<rant>
Recently i was researching on OPO supported rom kitchen and i decided to ask in the DEV section in OPO forum
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/opo-supported-kitchen.94937/#post-4648268
Read the thread and see...lets just say..i stopped posting there after that, cause its just pointless unless you wanna troll people and make stupid jokes
Funny part is one of the mods moved the thread to "Accessories" section
XDA is heaven by comparison
</rant>
The OnePlus One Forum is completly useless.
So glad there's a section for it here on XDA.
From time to time a check out the announcements and the last posts from steve kondik.
Besides that there is no reason to read, or post anything over there.
I also Found The official OnePlus Forums to be full of people being sarcastic to others even when asking a valid question
cant beat XDA
So many crybabies in the OP forum. Lower Antutu score than previous update? Rant. An app FC oftens? Rant. There's so many clueless user in that forum it makes my head hurts. I have to wonder why these guys even buy OPO in the first place if they don't even know how to Google and settle common problems. They don't even wanna learn using it. All they know are complains, then open a report at CM Jira which makes it even worse to track a real issue with OPO
That's just shameful.. Then again, any dev with respect for himself would turn to XDA. A "new" forum with invites begging isn't for devs. This place is made for it. <3

my thoughts exactly
CM Jira has become a damn discussion thread..you have to scroll through thousands of useless off-topic comments to get any valuable info sigh!!
I agree, opo need to sort it's forum out. It is bad business to have all those not so experienced people blaming, ranting and hiding the good stuff just because a bad organized forum. Doesn't look so good to all those customers...
The forum itself is a mix of rant heaven and noob hell...

Lol I agree it was a WTF moment anyway
FYI ArchiKitchen now supports OPO, JustArchi updated the device profiles and fixed a bug where it was not recognizing the ROM due to wrong order of model number in build.prop

It's funny tho, since 2010.. Before back then even, when I wasn't a member here yet, I've yet to see a thread like the one mentioned here. On XDA it's usually one troll.. Or people saying stuff isn't relevant, so on, so on..
But you're right. It's not going anymore. But I keep my statement about closing it.. Since it serves no purpose.

Yep I have become tired of the OPO forum. I would guess the average age of people posting is under 20. The people posting the BS over there think that they are "cool". Pretty much every other thread/post has something to do about getting an invite. Not to mention all the deleted posts, deleted threads and heavy censorship. No thanks.

^^^ What he said
there a few useful post here and there though, like this one listing all the ROMs, kernels and recoveries for the OPO: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/full-collection-roms-recoveries-kernels.82526/ , however xda wins hands down.
So why bring that here and start ranting about it? Is this thread contributing anything positive to XDA?
Thread moved to Off-Topic because our OPO forum wasn't the correct place for a thread like this.
If the OP has a problem with it being here, I or someone else can go ahead and close this thread.
One word. Internet. Kid this is internet where you find people that are smart and people that are so dumb that using the word dumb is not enough but then again there are trolls that like messing with people alot!
