I was browsing on the forums and I came up with people complaining more about people not using the search than helping.
I'm just guessing but I would say that there is about a 2:1 (for every 1 non-search thread there is about on average 2 people in the thread complaining about not searching) ratio of complainers to clueless people. It seems people spend more time complaining about people not searching then just helping out. Why waste posts complaining about searching.
So for all you search nazis plz settle down, help out and move on.
For people who don't live on the forums its not as easy as you make it out to be to find everything. I agree people need to atleast try.

1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.

You needed a second member complaining, to get the 2 to 1 ratio.
I'm here to help you: go search a bit.
On a more serious note: yes you are right. That's why I read the forums I'm interested, and only post on Off-Topic forum.

So my post wasn't help full? Then steer me in the right direction. How could I help a pushy arrogant person that ignores rule #1 and is also to lazy too use google or the integrated free xda search engine with many options?
good day.
the main problem is there is that many crap useless threads being made daily it does make it harder to search so i can see where some people cant get the searching bit working, Like if you are new here you're first language isn't English and you need to search you're going to struggle;e, yes i agree a little searching should be made first, what really bugs me is please help thread titles that doesnt help at all, at lest lie and said you are struggling using the search make it look like you have made an effort
I understand with you guys about searching I'm not trying to down that. Just the fact it seems counter productive with all the posts about "omg SEARCH first omg!!"
Sorry this was just a rant from yesterday and why I did it in "Off topic". I'm over it now lol. Back to learning how to root.

Earlier today, I started a thread telling a little story about Android. But, for no reason, it was closed shortly after. No explanations, nothing.
I did it in the right section, it was not offensive or rude, I don't know what the hell I did wrong. I don't mind my topics being closed, but with no explanations, this is just bullsh*t.
If somebody could explain it to me, it'd be cool.

Thought it might be funny to tell a story about my two years using Android using a kinda-dramatic style, but I don't get where it's against the rules.
It's in the "off-topic" section, the same one where people tell the song they are currently listening to, or other things cool to share but not more relevant than my thread. As long as I don't infringe the basic rules, I don't get it.

Contrary to popular belief, off-topic is not a place where you can open a thread for anything you like and it just flies. It follows the same rules that apply everywhere else in the forum. In this particular case, the rule is about not opening threads that already exist. I did link you to two threads that were relevant to your post.
As for this thread, if you have a problem with a mod decision then by all means question it, but don't open a thread to do it. Send a PM to the mod in question (namely me, in this case) and politely discuss it with them.

You are going to draw unwanted attention from a mod so I suggest you stop doing what you are doing in the fashion in which you are doing it. These restrictions are in place for a reason, mostly to stop spam posters.
Read this first please:
[GUIDE] How to be a New User (and not a noob)
If you have any other question afterwards you will know what to do.
One other thing. Is it so much to ask that you read for a bit first, pick up some knowledge and experience, help a few people in the 90+% of the site which is completely open to you, to participate with quality posts instead of BS posts, in return for being able to post into any of the ROM threads from any dev on this site?

Yes. You also don't get away with spamming for ten posts. Read this 19 times.....
Good day sir.
There are already so many threads here in OT that you can post to for your ten post, it should be extremely easy for anybody that takes one minute to look. Use the 'game threads' like last letter and similar word and such. Problem solved.
EDIT: Mods, why not make it so new users can't start a new thread until the 10 post limit is reached?

Its not like I am telling a secret loophole or anything, what I said to do should be common sense to anybody except the OP right? If it's that big of a deal then new users shouldn't be able to post in OT either. I'm just saying that's better than starting a new thread with no topic.

Was wondering if we could make this thread happen because there's already the drummers thread and the bassist thread. This way, if it's all combined into one thread, it can help with clearing up future clutter with threads for other instruments.
We could have all our musicians all in one place and all talking about what they love.

Not too sure that the respective op's would be too happy about a merge....
I'll leave that for Archer/Vanessa to decide though....
Also, merging would just create an unholy mess of a thread due to its chronological nature.

Merging is no big deal to do, but all the posts are merged chronologically, so it would make reading the thread from the beginning very difficult. I think it would make more sense to close the existing threads and start a new dedicated one, if we were going to do anything with them.
Oh, and I was joking about the sub-forum. I should have used the instead of the

I think that probably works best with what we've currently got, but without a thread where they all talk to each other how will we start an xda band??
I'm still not convinced though that we shouldn't have a dedicated thread. I play both guitar and keyboards, as well as doing computer generated music and would like talking about them all but that would take at least 3 threads. I'd like to talk about them all in one place.
Now I've typed that I'm thinking that one thread is the way to go. Undecided Archer is undecided.

Very nice! I second.
I, for one, would beg any mod to NOT merge the musician threads.
I can only imagine scrolling through, and seeing 19 pictures of of someones guitar rig, links to bass sheet music, arguments about who actually invented the fiddle, and so on.
My point is that in the respective threads, people get pretty detailed about gear and preferences. It would be so frustrating to weed through all that for (in my case) drum related posts.

This is where the confusion steps in.
If it's all merged together, it makes it more awkward and irritating for the people commenting for different instruments etc.
But if it stays how it currently is, I can imagine people noticing that and it getting out of hand and eventually seeing a thread for the triangle players of the community.
It's just a case of working out the best option. Any suggestions from you Skinny?

Yep I have become tired of the OPO forum. I would guess the average age of people posting is under 20. The people posting the BS over there think that they are "cool". Pretty much every other thread/post has something to do about getting an invite. Not to mention all the deleted posts, deleted threads and heavy censorship. No thanks.

It's funny tho, since 2010.. Before back then even, when I wasn't a member here yet, I've yet to see a thread like the one mentioned here. On XDA it's usually one troll.. Or people saying stuff isn't relevant, so on, so on..
But you're right. It's not going anymore. But I keep my statement about closing it.. Since it serves no purpose.

^^^ What he said
there a few useful post here and there though, like this one listing all the ROMs, kernels and recoveries for the OPO: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/full-collection-roms-recoveries-kernels.82526/ , however xda wins hands down.
So why bring that here and start ranting about it? Is this thread contributing anything positive to XDA?
Thread moved to Off-Topic because our OPO forum wasn't the correct place for a thread like this.
If the OP has a problem with it being here, I or someone else can go ahead and close this thread.
One word. Internet. Kid this is internet where you find people that are smart and people that are so dumb that using the word dumb is not enough but then again there are trolls that like messing with people alot!
