new to the forum need help my sprint hero is 1.5 i want to root it and overclock but i do want to keep sprint tv and sprint nav thnx
Have u read up on the process of rooting.?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
yes i did but all seemed geared at the 2.1 update so can i root or do i update to 2.1 then proceed
There are directions to root 1.5 and 2.1 everywhere here you just have to give some actual effort to look for them. I'd suggest going to geekfor.me and use the kitchen to autoroot it.
Why root 1.5 when your going to upgrade to 2.1 anyway? Why not just RUU to 2.1 and then root it?
OMG...what is going on...SEARCH! ALSO there is a Q&A section specifically for these problems. This is the ANDROID DEVELOPMENT section. Im not trying to be mean but please read the rules about posting before posting.
On a side note i would suggest using the universal 1 click or REGNAW's method.

I completely disagree. There are a mere 3 stickies in the Development forum, of which one clearly, in the title, says "Don't post questions here!" This was a question, which directly violates the rules. Not only that, it's the most basic question of all (how to get started) which is also answered in the stickies. Why should we make any effort to help the OP (and many others on these boards) when they obviously made no effort of their own?
If you don't agree with me and feel the "purpose" of XDA is to baby everyone, I'd encourage you to check out some of the other sections that still have some activity and mods who care. You will find them to be a drastically different experience.
I'm sorry but clearly he had to open the main cdma hero forum part. He SHOULD HAVE seen Q&A. Then decides to post in development. I'm not trying to be a prick I'm following The rule's. Like above..if he would of bothered of making an effort he would have seen the sticky saying don't post questions. I just feel when some blatantly makes no effort to search or follow rules they should not be handed something. And I did answer his question if u guys would have looked at my post.

No problem man, simple mistake.
I do like the rules that are set here (with the stickies and such) but I do remember the feeling of just finding xda (which was my first forum experience) and how overwhelmed and confused I was. I did mess up in the beginning, with my posting, but I was never bashed. I know you guys weren't bashing him (well I hope not) but you have to realize that he won't make this mistake again, it was a simple mistake. I didn't even know what a "sticky" was when I joined in January haha.

Everyone cool your jets. you got rockets in your pockets? I see nothing wrong with what t12icky0 originally posted. He answered the questioned and suggested what everyone else would have suggested--searching & reading more.
I also have to agree. There are other forums obviously specifically for questions or general talk along with the sticky here saying that as well. I'm not bashing OP. It just never hurts to do your best searching for your answer, and if you come up short, post.
Also let's chill with the foul language.

Hi,im new to the site.Have a Samsung Transform...For those of you that dont know it looks like the Epic hardware wise and like the Moment software wise.
My question is if anyone has an iphone dock and icon pack for launcher pro plus.Im familiar with applying docks but not icons...Sorry if its been asked just cant find it.
Thanks in advance.
Icons: Here.
Longpress any dock shortcut > Change icon.
Dock: Here's a nice collection. If not, Google helps.
"Glass" under Apperance settings > Dock backgrounds also works.

This is the best answer I have ever seen.....
Yeah. It was a **** answer too.
The whole reason people post in this forum is to seek help and help others.
If you take the time to be a douche and post one of those "Let Me Google That For You" links, then you might as well just help them.
Being from a senior member too, that knows exactly where those icon sets are, and could easily have pointed them in the RIGHT direction. Or even provided them with the icons.
If they wanted to Google it, they would have. Not asked the question in the forum where it should be. Just sayin'. ;D

A **** answer?
There are literally a thousand - No, a million iPhone icon sets on the web.
Google iPhone icons and you get 10 relevant pages on the first search.
The fifth link was actually iPhone icons over at DeviantART where there would be a thousand more related icon packs.

Most people come here and ask questions without searching. This is a very, very basic question that would have been 'resolved' with a quick search either here on XDA or Google. If you feel "Let me Google that for you" is a '****' link then I assure you I was not trying to be a ****. I was given that link at some point and realized Google'ing might be a good idea before raising a question or creating a thread.
You're very helpful yourself, Mr.God. Your answer to this thread really helped the OP more out than I did.
Someone here has problems keeping their temper down.
a simple search on google, xda would find plenty. Can't remember and post the links for the iphone icons soz, but you can find plenty of them on my dropbox

Couldn't agree more, this is why XDA is going down the pan, because of idiots diluting the forums all the time. Then you get children like "God!" who think its fine to post silly questions but not ok to give silly answers, Although the answer given was not actually silly as it 100% answered the OP's question and took him directly to what he needed aswell as also a lesson to use XDA search or Google FIRST.

The upgrading happens when dalvik cache is cleared. Sounds like there was an issue with dalvik. So yeah. Wiping/stock was probably your best bet it wiping/reflash didn't work. It could also have been a bad kernel flash.

Yes everyone who has a bad experience on a forum should post a new thread about that bad experience and then everyone who has a bad experience in that thread starts a new thread and so on. Its the circle of forum life.

I'm just guessing that this thread won't be deleted. Mostly because it completely adheres to the forum rules and is an incredibly helpful asset to the community.
You should post more like this. Help those other n00bs out.

Listen, whether you had a real problem or not is irrelevant. There will always be people that just like pissing on your cookies. If you hadn't experienced people like that in the past I want to congratulate you for finally leaving your house or connecting to the internet for the first time...those people are everywhere. The correct way to deal with them is to ignore them and then realize that everyone else in the world has dealt with them in the past. The incorrect way is to call attention to it and then cry about it in a very public way. Take this advice: Leave it alone and never bring it up again. It just makes you look pathetic and self-entitled to make an entire forum topic about it so you can "tell the world". The world already knows...I'm just sorry you didn't.
Edit : Forget it. The OP has issues.

No need for an apology. Just read threads and the posts. Most, if not all the information you need can be found on the threads. Yes, some are hundreds and hundreds of pages but reading and searching will give you great results. I'm in no way an expert. I hope to learn and love this stuff. I have learned tons on here and you can never stop learning. Don't take things personal either.

Firstly its "AOSP" not "ASOP" and second, why on earth didn't you even do a quick google of what it meant first before creating a topic?
because they stopped letting me ban for people post questions in general or people trying to be a smart arse, and explaining in how in anyway my pst positions as a moderator or lack thereof makes my question any less valid. and also as a long time member of this forum you too should find op behavior stupid as hes turning this forum into the cluster of knowledge it was when i joined into a orgy of DUURRR

Agreed!
I can understand being too lazy to go buy groceries and ordering a pizza instead. I can understand being a bit lazy sometimes and playing more PS3 than going to the gym.
I will never be able to understand being too lazy to Ctrl+T and doing a Google search. I'm lazy myself, but that's just downright impressive.
I don't know if it is laziness as more effort went into creating a thread than doing a search. Why, if you have heard of AOSP and the Cyanogenmod team, not go to the effort of doing a small bit of research and seeing what one offers over the other? I mean if your interested in something, your willing to put in a bit of effort to fulfil that interest are you not?
A Simple search of "Difference between AOSP and AOKP" produces over 30,000 results.
I don't think you'll struggle finding your answer.

So many crybabies in the OP forum. Lower Antutu score than previous update? Rant. An app FC oftens? Rant. There's so many clueless user in that forum it makes my head hurts. I have to wonder why these guys even buy OPO in the first place if they don't even know how to Google and settle common problems. They don't even wanna learn using it. All they know are complains, then open a report at CM Jira which makes it even worse to track a real issue with OPO
That's just shameful.. Then again, any dev with respect for himself would turn to XDA. A "new" forum with invites begging isn't for devs. This place is made for it. <3

It's funny tho, since 2010.. Before back then even, when I wasn't a member here yet, I've yet to see a thread like the one mentioned here. On XDA it's usually one troll.. Or people saying stuff isn't relevant, so on, so on..
But you're right. It's not going anymore. But I keep my statement about closing it.. Since it serves no purpose.

Yep I have become tired of the OPO forum. I would guess the average age of people posting is under 20. The people posting the BS over there think that they are "cool". Pretty much every other thread/post has something to do about getting an invite. Not to mention all the deleted posts, deleted threads and heavy censorship. No thanks.

^^^ What he said
there a few useful post here and there though, like this one listing all the ROMs, kernels and recoveries for the OPO: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/full-collection-roms-recoveries-kernels.82526/ , however xda wins hands down.
So why bring that here and start ranting about it? Is this thread contributing anything positive to XDA?
Thread moved to Off-Topic because our OPO forum wasn't the correct place for a thread like this.
If the OP has a problem with it being here, I or someone else can go ahead and close this thread.
One word. Internet. Kid this is internet where you find people that are smart and people that are so dumb that using the word dumb is not enough but then again there are trolls that like messing with people alot!
