Hello all,
I attached a log file which i hope, i BEG someone can help me with.
My camera wont open, i click the camera app and the screen goes black then i get a force close message, or a message saying cannot connect to camera. Sometimes the app opens and i get the cannot connect to camera message and sometimes it just force closes with a black screen.
I am on the stock 2.3.6 rom. i have dskchked the sd card, formated the sdcard and started over, tried different camera apps.
Attempted a different rom but i cant seem to get the drivers to see it when i start in fastboot USB mode. :-(
Can anyone tell me whats up?
Thank you
I really miss camera :-(
Well, since you said you already flashed a differenct ROM to see if it would help I'm going to assume it was something you know is stable like cyanogen or a stock ROM so it should work but just in case if you haven't already I would try passimg. Now you haven't done any radio flashes lately right?? Although from what you have said I think it may be hardware failure :/
Thank you for your reply, no i havent its on the 5.08 radio i believe, its changed to the defualt stock when u OTA right? i lost the works when i did an OTA to stock 2.3.6. I have just put recovery back on. i had CM7.1 before and it wasnt working, but it was working before that on stock 2.3.6. If you can picture that timeline. I thought reverting to stock would fix it. but apparently not.
Ok well when you reverted to stock did you use passimg? if not then I would give it a shot but if that doesn't fix it then I think it's a hardware failure sorry :/
I just flashed GRI40 using recovery then OTA to 2.3.6.
Is that any different to passimg??? im not sure of the difference?
Well it's because passimg by default makes a flash to every partition so it will wipe everything and put it all back in flashing a ROM on the other hand just does the system partition.
right... sounds interesting... can i passimg over the most current version... as im on the latest now... Or will it just say its up to date?
No unfortunately the most recent passimg file is frg83 so you'll need to use that but if it works then after that you should be able to flash anything you want and have no problem. For the instructions just check my sig.
worth a shot i guess... i just apply the froyo passimg and it just instal over 2.3.6, then it will naturally OTA to the latest again...? u recon it will work? shame their arent more people confirming this... its a lot of work!
passimg solved the touch pad buttons at the bottom problem i had of them not lighting up, unfortunatly the camera is still not working

well if it was working perfectly before
than if u can open ur phone check all connections or go to some repair shop and get it done,
this might solve the problem.
this solved my camera FC problem

Hi..a friend of me has a new Nexus One (with locked bootloader) and has some issues with camera.
When he enter camera app it is black and it doesn't work.Same with applications that use camera (like Goggles).
He tried to initialize sd card and phone memory but issue is still not solved.
How can he flash his N1 with original firmware?Does he need to boot phone keeping pressed volume button? And how can N1 recognize and flash original rom?
Do you think it is an hardware issue? It would be a problem cause we live in Italy!
Thanks..

No, he needs to do none of that.
If it's still locked and appears to be broken don't try and fix it yourself, just get a warranty replacement...

How can I do?DO I need a stoke rom zip or img?

I understand your unwillingness to send it across the world but really, do you think some camera software got corrupted on a read-only phone? If so, it's still unlikely that you will be able to fix it.
To put new firmware on the phone you will need to root it. If you root it you will not have a warranty and you still might not be able to fix it.
Latest, full, leaked, signed rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=648856
It's a risk though...
I'm sure I can flash with original rom a N1 not rooted.
Exist default recovery mode and I think it is to flash N1 with stoke rom.

Have you tried uninstalling lag fix to see if the problem goes away ?
no, i will try now.
no lagfix is not the problem.
I uninstall it and the camera still won't make pictures...
For sure was when i rooted the phone...
maybe some kind of permission..
Thank you for suggestion, what now?
Kikan
If you have an external SD card, in camera settings, try change the store location to the sdcard and take a picture, and then change it back. It has fixed the problem for me before, although I had the problem in the camcorder mode! Some kind of glitch in the camera app, I guess.
This isn't really Android dev, should be over in the Q&A forum or something or other.

It could be hardware problem.
I once experienced something similar to this and no matter what firmware i flashed the problem persisted so i sent it to Samsung SVC centre and they pretty much fixed it, stating that they had replaced the camera module.
i don't have external sd card...
Interesting is that camera i sworking and video is working too, but i can record but i can't take pictures...
Hope that is not hardware problem...
i called to samsung service, and the gay there told me, that is probably something wrong with application, that maybe is there some apps, that are running in the background and this stops camera to make pictures.
first i will buy sd card and test, after
I don't want to change the rom before official release, just to test if camera will work...
I'm thinking that maybe i can uninstall all apps that a downloaded...
it's very strange that nobody had same problem...
The best thing you can do, if you accept loosing all your data, is to go in recovery mode and do a factory reset. If the problem persist after that it means that you have a hardware problem. Good luck
do i have to uninstall lagfix and unroot the phone?
i did recovery and factory reset, but camera still don't work...
I found out that doing factory reset will not delete sdcard files and i still have superuser apps installed and when i tried to install lagfix, i receive one error...so is not completely factory reset.
maybe something happen when i root the phone?
is there one way to completely remove all thing and reinstall all stuff? Just to see if i can solve camera issue...
i would like a fast and stable frojo release...
Thank
Kikan
i did a mess...
i didn0t uninstall lagfix before doing factory reset and now i think that i will go to samsung service...
i spoke with them today i and they are putting JP5 firmware now in all SGS...he thinks that firmware update can solve my camera problem...
i sow that is maybe batter to flash the JP6 firmware? Is this the stable frojo version?
thank you a lot
i solve my camera problem....
i use rom manager and Doc's Rom last jpm firmware version...
Thank you all for help me....
kikan
Sorry to ressurect an old thread.
But I'm currently experiencing this problem with the latest official release of Froyo. I've 2 Galaxy S phones here, both that I've setup, except only 1 seems to have the majority of problems.
I'm experiencing the same issues as above. Front facing camera shoots/saves, and so does the Video using the back camera. Saving pictures using the back camera fails with a simple 'camera failed' message and a broken invalid image file.
I'd like to keep my official froyo version without flashing another firmware. Strange that my other phone has none of these issues, yet is running the same firmware.
Anyone have any sort of idea what's going on or how I can solve this? Much thanks is appreciated.
I can't seem to post the screen capture. but if you want to take a look

Hey
I had posted earlier about my N1 not connecting to my network. I thought the problem was fixed, but I guess I was wrong. The problem is deeper than that. I flashed CM7 Nightly. All was well but the mobile network wasn't working. The reception bars were zero with a small cross on them. I flashed MM's Gingerbread. The network got stuck like that. No bars. On the lockscreen it read "(No Service)|Airtel" (airtel being the name of my service provider). Then I found out that audio wasn't working either. No audio from the speakers or 3.5mm jack. I changed roms, changed sims, everything. Nothing worked. I tried my sim in another phone and it worked perfectly.
I then tried updating the hboot. It seemed to have worked but a reboot later I was back on square one.
I then tried to update my radio (I'm on 4.6. Tried to update to 5.12) but on connecting the USB cable the notification didn't pop up. The charging LED lit up but that's all. I tried mounting my SD card through AmonRA's recovery but my PC did not detect it.
What could be wrong with my Nexus One? I've been using this phone for about 10 months now and after this I'm back to my old Sony Ericsson w705. It's unbearable. Somebody please help me. Any help will be appreciated.

Raptor
Have you tried returning to stock to see if the situation improves?
You did do a nandroid backup of your stock ROM before flashing everything yes?

I rooted when I still had eclair and haven't been on stock ever since. I have a nandroid backup of my stock eclair ROM. I think I'll download a stock FRF91 and try it. I updated the radio to 5.12 but it has had no effect on the problem. I'll try a stock 2.2 ROM tomorrow since it's night here in India right now. Thanks for your response.

Hey, sorry for my long absence. I had been caught up.
Well, here's where I stand: I tried all the roms I could find- stock 2.2, cm 5, cm 6, cm 7, MIUI, 2.3, everything. But my phone just shows no service. Nothing in the device status too. There is no audio, neither through the speaker, nor through the 3.5mm port. And the worst of all, it refuses to mount the SD card. When I connect my N1 to my PC the charging LED glows orange but no USB mount message appears. I've tried mount widgets and apps but nothing happens. I can't even mount the SD card through the recovery (Amon RA, latest). I tried ADB devices but it didn't show any connected devices. What should I do?
I'm currently using my old Sony Ericsson w705 and going from Android to J2ME isn't really something anyone would like. I will be really grateful if someone could help me fix my beloved N1.
Regards
Raptor
I guess you're out of options - restore your phone to stock and send to HTC for repairs. This seems to be the only answer to your troubles.
Read my signature, look there for Unroot/restore guide, PASSIMG method, using FRG33 ROM. Execute the guide. If your phone starts working - great, if not - send to HTC.

Hey
I tried the PASSIMG.zip method. I got back to stock hoping it would fix the problems but no luck there. I live in India so it's unlikely I will be able to send the phone to HTC. Besides, I unlocked my bootloader so my warranty is void.
Anyway, I think I may have found a lead. After the PASSIMG.zip didn't fix it, I went back to CM7 nightlies. I installed SPB shell ui. It comes with it's own wallpaper and changed my wallpaper to its own wallpaper. Anyway, I was updating the nightly build and I did a complete wipe a couple of times. After I flashed the new build and it booted, I realized that the wallpaper from the SPB shell ui was still there. I have a habit of wiping every time I flash. When I updated again it was gone. But a few builds later it was back.
What I think is that there is something wrong in the system partition and clearing it might solve the problem. But then again, I might be wrong. I would appreciate some advice on this matter.
Regards
Raptor
Edit: I wiped the /system partition through root explorer. It didn't fix the problem. Could there be some other files in the phone memory that could be causing this problem?
Hello guys, i just receieved my phone, it is a GT-I9220_xx_EUR.

Did you try a factory reset? It may do the trick!
Not just one,it didn't do the trick.
I even downgraded to 2.3.5, no luck.
i found out my note it's a test version(that's why it came with 2.3.5 KH2- i never heard of this fw). i will look upon my sources, maybe i'll find the original software.

Hi, i have seen many forums regarding this error, so I will post what i have tried already. Problem only on rear camera.
I did clean cache and restarted.
Reinstalled camera app/other camera apps from the store.
Started in safe mode.
Ran xperia diagnostics/service test. Camera didnt start.
As far as i can remember it happened shortly after installing avatar rom. I kept getting constant crashes so i decided to flash stock again, everything works fine but the camera.
Right now i am on 4.4.4, with the "C6602_10.5.1.A.0.283_Customized_US" firmware. Rooted using towelroot, but the problem existed before and remains after rooting.
I have been uninstalling/disabling some sistem apps through Titanium Backup , so I would say i mistakenly deleted some important system app. Can anyone share the process/apps needed to use camera? so i cant install all of them again.
Can it be the firmware? should i try a different one? I would like to fix it without having to wipe, but if it must be I will just restart from scratch.
Thanks for the assistance, feeling sort of lost on this one.

Try with clean install. Repair it via PC Companion or reflash it via Flashtool. If still doesn't work it's probably hw problem.
ok, i tryed reflashing a couple of times, the error is still there. It doesnt seem likely that its a hardware issue. Is it possible to reinstall the files necessary for using the camera?
One other thing, i cant use pc companion repair because it says my software is modified, if i relock bootloader can i use it?

Yes, you can use it with locked bl, but you don't need to do that, find .ftf ROM for your region and model or any other you like and do a clean flash via Flashtool, if still not working it's hw issue, you need new camera module.

i just reflashed 2 different roms for my phone and version. Relocked and repaired via pc companion. And nothing worked, i assume its hw damage then.
Does it happen when the phone suffers a hit? or is there another explanation?. Cant figure out how it happened.
Thank you for all your help.

Hi, kennycol
Can you tell me if it is hardware problem?
I met the same problem
After revive my C6833, the camera can't work. Firstly, the front camera is OK,but not a long time, it also can't work.
After I flashed other rom using flashtool, two camera both can not work.
when I use camera , phone shows "unfortunately, the camera stopped"
press *#*#7378423#*#*
enter service test
camera CAMERA NOT CONNECTED
Secondary camera THIS DEVICE DOES NOT SUPPORT THE FUNCTION
Then, I reflash it by S1tool, the things repeat again.
