[Q] Undervolt vs underclock nAa Kernel + MiniCM - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im running kernel nAa 08 and MiniCM 2.1.6.
Is safe to set min cpu to 19 MHz?
And Undervolt?
And both together?

Setting cpu to 19 mhz will lag very much and will be unstable

Correct.

well.. im running at min cpu 19 MHz for 2 days.. so far so good... no lag, no reboot...... ondemand governor....
in 8 hours and a half I lost 5% battery (NO airplane mode)

Thts nice. Might try it later...

19 mhz its in idle mode, when you using your phone clock automatic go default max

That looks fantastic. I'll try that too. My battery usually hold for a day and a few hours.
I'm just curious... How long your battery was lasting before setting to 19 MHz?

[Q] Improvement :D

I use xperia x8 and i have nAa11 and 2.1.9 CM7... I have the processor speed, my minimum speed is 600MHz, 806MHz is max speed... I am interested in what else I can do or put on my xperia x8 to be a better, more beautiful or fast?
When it comes to speed, I think you have reached the X8's limits. There is only so much the devs can do - and for the record, they've done a far better job than SE (I guess it's just S now) will ever do.
Why 600Mhz for minimum speed? That will drain your battery very fast.. I have my minimum speed at 19Mhz and my phone is smooth as butter.. Your governor will raise the speed when needed.

Well, i have nAa too and no reboots at all. Because i don't overclock i also undervolt which also helps saving battery. One thing i like is the fact that phonecalls always use 19MHz
What governor are you using?

On stock it's set to 600MHz. 748MHz works for me without any hiccups.
200min and 780max
Governor : smartassv2

i set my cpu to 806mhz for playing games but always lower it to 480mhz for normal use
max should not be more than 800 and min could be 100

Your phone would lag on such a low freq. After waking it up from sleep...... max: not more than 748mhz.... min: 320mhz.... governor: smartassv2/ondemand... i/o scheduler: sio/deadline.... respectively.

and at min as 320mhz the battery would be sucked like hell even when the screen would be off
even my galaxy s with bigger screen don't lag with 100mhz clock speed
if the lag would be there it would be very small as till the lock screen is passed the processor would be at required speed
and setting it depends on person thats why i wrote "could be"

So, I think it's better to set min on 200mhz.

It would not drain the battery because when you put screen off the device goes to deep sleep mode.... and saves a lot juice..... and even on galaxy y and latest entry level phones of samsung the default clocking is min: 315mhz and max: 832mhz, that also on 1200mah battery....
Sent from my GT-S5570 using xda premium
If you can adjust the screen off frequency set it to 125MHz.
Set the max screen-on frequency to 758MHz. Min to 300Mhz
Note: The higher the frequency you set, the faster your battery drains out.
try an app call "system tuner pro" with it you can ajust the CPU frequently when the screen is in deep sleep... also does a lot more... try it

i dont think samsung give deep sleep functionality in stock kernel
and if deep sleep is there that means way too much lag while waking up device
Samsung is not giving 315mhz as min speed in any of its kernel, 315mhz is way too much for min

It has deep sleep.... every phone has it man.... .... I have a galaxy Y so I know which freq. is min. Its 315mhz.... If there would be no deep sleep... your phone would no last even half a day... Search and think before you post...

CPU Overclock

Hi,
I'm running CM 10.1 with Werewolf kernel v007. At 1600 MHz the CPU is stable, but at 1700 MHz, the phone freezes and I need to remove the battery. Any solution to make it stable? I tried to set 1325 mV instead of 1275mV, but the SetCPU crashes.

Try another over-clockable kernel, but i advice u to stay at the 1600 mhz no more.

I wouldnt worry about it, the difference between 1600-1700mhz is tiny and a 100mv voltage jump is a big jump to get 1700 stable. Personally is underclock mine to around 1200-1300

well, in that case you have no choice but to stay at 1.6GHz...
and two more side notes: i'd recommend tricksterMOD for such things like UV/OV, ... (i use it myself as well --> "guaranteed" working )
and the max voltage is capped @ 1300mV. more would be too much (remember, we have mobile device with no cooling, not like a lappy )
I would stay at 1600 MHz. The battery gets hot enough without pushing the phone.
I for my part had it underclocked at 1200 and after Optimux Prime kernel Im using 1500MHZ.

which kernel and rom save battery??

which kernel and rom more save battery?? i want a save battery's rom
Go for stock rom with stock kernel.
It gives the best battery backup..
Or you can also go for primehd with naa kernel..
sent from my phone using hands and brain...
I think PrimeHD 10 with nAa-14 be the best power saver combination.

+1 "he's always right!"
And I could use my phone three days without simcard on gingerdxv31 plus nobodyAtall's nAa14 super kernel(medium usage ,2 hour gaming ,1hour music ,20min video ,1hour other #and still I've been got 20% left!?!)
In my opinion every rom has almost the same performance , all you have to do is to select "ondemand governor " + underclocked min freq to 19 mhz max to 480 or 600 , and cpu undervolt option (gingerdx31 doesn't suppurt this feature)
Currently on minicm10 ,drains battery like a monster! :/

Not so much diffrent comparing to 120mhz - 600mhz but phone will wake up a little later
(If you wanna play games set max to 600 or higher otherwise 480mhz is enough for scrolling , browsing ,running apps ,because our ram and I/o is slow so the cpu clock speed won't be important here)
#Voltage usage in diffrent freq:
320mhz=3mv
480mhz=5mv
600mhz=6mv
729mhz=7mv
#480 uses 20% less energy than 600 I think
#On sleep mode freq will stay on 19-120 mhz most of the time so its very helpful for saving energy.
(Usage on gb might be diff. Cause these numbers are for minicm10)

[Q] Which rom for battery life?

Just wondering what you guys are using on your phones. I got a s3 lte recently but im using a 2 year old battery so i think that might be the cause of my bad battery life but i have sentinel rom v6 and boeffla kernel with zzmove governor and -50 undervolt cpu and -25 gpu. I struggle to get over 3 and a half hours screen on time with just watching youtube and web browsing. What rom and kernel do you use and what screen on time do you achieve? Can you suggest what i can do to improve.
I`m using Carbon rom 4.4 on my S3 LTE, along with boeffla kernel 2.2. My battery is 1.5 years old and I get screen on time of about 4 hours. So i think for a 2 year old battery your screen time is not too bad. I had best battery life with Omni rom and boeffla kernel, about 4.5 hours screen on time in 48 hours use, but also limited cpu to 1.2 ghz.
yes but i only manage to achieve that with 800 mhz max, -75mv undervolt, ART, and lowest gpu frequency xD
I am using alliance rom v3 with boeffla kernel 5.2. Zzmove extreme battery yank CPU max 1000mhz gpu 266/350
Undervolting both medium touch boost 500
With this I am using my s3 lte while browsing with lte ca 4-5 hours. When I am using with wife for ca 8 hours.
