Hi there. I looked all over the internet, and could not find a solution to my problem, or anyone else it has happened to. I am in canada on the rogers network with my captivate. It was running gingerbread, and I rooted it. It worked for about 10 minutes, and then would constantly reboot, as in boot up, 10 seconds later reboot. I tried fixing it by reflashing it, but now it just goes to the bricked screen. I can get it into download mode, but when I try to reflash with odin, it fails, although it does recognize it. Please help. Is it fixable ?
Okay, I think I managed to flash it to froyo, but now it just goes to a black screen after the S screen, and the bottom buttons are lit up, and it vibrates occasionaly.

This sounds like you are having the issue that I was having a while back, put it into recovery mode and use the Odin one click for the i896 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=979133) to flash it. Let me know if you're still having any problems.

Running a Captivate that I rooted and upgraded to 2.3 over a year ago. All was working well. This week it began freezing after it fully loaded after a reboot or power-on. It will go through the ATT, the Corn logo, and the S animation. It will scan the USB storage devides (internal and external) and then quietly freeze. It will sit there with the wallpaper moving around, but the first key stroke done after all has been loaded up will cause everything to freeze.
While it is starting up, I can enter my passcode, use all of the menu buttons and get to applications or settings. However, once the scanning is done, wherever I am will freeze. I can get all the way through the perform a factory reset procedure before the scanning is done, but it I will run out of time before the phone can start the reset.
Seems like something in 2.3 got corrupted and I need to reload the software without going through the boot-up (I went through Kies, but once the phone booted up, it disappeared from Kies and it told me the phone was disconnected).
Any step by step to either repair 2.3 or to install another droid system prior to the phone booting up? I'd appreciate the help.

You could grab Odin KK4 without bootloaders and flash it in download mode.
From there, use Odin 1.87 to flash Corn kernel if you wanna be rooted and have a custom recovery again.
Then it's your choice whether you wanna stay on 2.3 or look into 4.2 ROMs.

So, do you agree with me that it seems to be a software issue? Or is this something to try and see if all goes well with the new install? I have no problem if this is something to try since nothing else is working, but I am just curious if my diagnosis is correct.
Thanks for the quick respond.

My guess is that something got corrupted, so yes, software issue. Find the required Odin and 2.3 kernel for the I9000 and flash them in download mode. It should run fine after that.
Got things resolved
Thanks for the help. I tried to follow your steps, but I could never get the phone connected to the PC. It would charge, but not connect to let Odin in. (It will connect to another PC without issues. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, but no dice). However, in the process of putting the phone into download mode and rebooting it back somehow got me into the recovery screen. I did a factory reset through there and it worked.
Thanks for the help of all the contributers to the site.

Hi all
I reflashed an old i9000 with CM10.1 for my wife recently, and everything seemed to be working fine. Then it started behaving a bit funny and this week it started rebooting at random. I thought "no worries, I'll just do a fresh flash with stock GB".
However, before I could even give that a go the phone started acting even weirder. As soon as I put the battery in it powers on (without me even pushing the button) but it resets every time it hits the Samsung splash screen. Earlier today I could get it to go into CWM recovery and after clearing cache I actually got it to boot up. But by the time I had downloaded the stock GB files the phone was just constantly resetting at the Samsung logo and now I can't even get it to load CWM recovery using the 3-button method.
I can get it to enter Download mode, and it shows up in Odin just fine. But within 5 seconds it resets itself again so I can't actually perform a flash.
Any suggestions? Or is the phone just plain busted?

I'm just going to answer my own question as I've solved the problem but it may benefit someone else to know how.
It got to the point where the phone wasn't even booting to the Samsung splash screen, but I could still get Download mode to show up for 5 seconds (not long enough to flash). Then in a moment of desperation I got the original Samsung microUSB cable and plugged that in, and booted into Download mode again. This time Download mode stuck! And I was able to flash a clean GB ROM which is now working fine.
So the take-out from my experience is this: sometimes you really do have to use the original Samsung USB cable.
Weird.
Thanks for reporting howto ...:good: good to know

I have a similar issue where I'm trying to flash my stock ROM on my Epic4gTouch. When it opens up the download mode error I start to flash and all seems to work before it reboots. Every 5 seconds. I tried the original cable and it did not help. Any ideas??

Hello guys,
suddenly my Note 4 won't work anymore, it freezes and reboots every 30 seconds. The sim card won't be recognized and in the settings things like IMEI and the carrier are unknown. Deleting cache in recovery didn't solve anything. I didn't do anything, the phone wasn't rooted, I didn't try to flash something, it justs got semi-bricked one day! Then I got a new battery and then it worked again! At least for some hours. Then it froze and rebooted again.
So I tried to flash stock with odin. Didn't work, even with the pit file and different versions of odin. It stops right at the beginning.
It's a N910F if you want to know.
And yeah, KNOX counter still at 0x0. But I don't have warranty any more.
Thanks in advance!
When did this start? Funny thing I have a similar issue. Yesterday my phone was fine. Had it with me on my desk until I went to bed, plugged it in and thought nothing of it. About half hour after I get to sleep the phone reboots, I hear the TMO gingle. I paid no attention to it, about 15 minutes later it does it again. I shut it off and this morning it all went downhill. Phone won't stay on, keeps rebooting. It sometimes freezes and becomes unresponsive.. you name it, everything that could have gone sideways has.

Probably your motherboard is dying.
Try to flash twrp recovery via odin and flash any rom and see if it works.
RIP mine is completely dead. Won't boot anything at all. Best of luck to you OP.
I have the same issue. Changed battery, nada. Flashed stock via odin, and it'll flash, and then it'll boot for a bit after flashing then freeze and go into bootloop, even if i try to boot into safe mode and try to boot into recovery. Flashing twrp with odin just makes it bootloop. I've tried every combination of things and can't get this thing to boot up properly. I'm convinced its a hardware issue.... perhaps processor going as someone above has mentioned?
Hello everyone. I have encountered something I don't understand. My note suddenly turned off and wouldn't restart. I thought maybe my battery was low so I plugged it in and it started. I decided to get a new battery and charged it up same thing was going on sometimes it would restart and be fine I was running stock rooted rom twrp recovery never dropped it never messed with it. Then since i was having trouble I took it to a cell repair shop. I could boot to download and twrp but when i tried to back up the rom it would get to about 2 percent and shutdown. The only way the phone stayed on is if i am in download or twrp but i couldn't do anything repair shop couldn't help either. I was desperately trying to save some data off the phone when i gave up I said ok i will reflash it all goes well in odin it reboots then says applying update but never gets past the boot farthest i have got is the tmobile screen. then it shuts down and keeps vibration and trying to restart only to shut down and do it all over again. so I am now stuck in a boot loop it seems not sure if that is accurate. I have no idea how to fix this any ideas anyone i have reflashed the latest rom twice and everything should be fine but it isnt. I am wondering what to do next I tried to flash twrp but it didnt take and also tried cf oneclick root didnt take either but odin says success and pass. I am at the end of my idea list and out of google searches no idea what to try next. So I have come to the one place i may find some help XDA. Thanks in advance
your phone partition got messed up you have to put TWRP back and then go in wipe and then you have to do file repairwhen you fix file then ran back the stock firmware which will fix bootloader
then go back install twrp and install custom rom with root

there is the list of stock firmware try them see which one works with twrp, you have to install twrp first so you can fix the problem using repair files in twrp

also read this for installing twrp on 910t

Befour flashing twrp make sure you uncheck Auto reboot....when it's done flashing pull your battery, put it back in the phone but don't power on....you want to boot right into recovery......then twrp will stick
I have my rog 2 stuck in a bootloop. I don't really know why in the first place, because I don't like to change and mess around with custom roms. So i've never done that.
The case was that I was watching a video on YouTube and suddenly the touch screen stopped responding, the phone kept responding to other inputs such as the power button and the volume rocker. So I decided to restart the phone. And then it didn't turn on again. Got stuck in a boot loop.
I've been trying to fix it for a long time. But I just can't do it. Nor am I able to see what is happening with the phone. I have used this guide.
EVERYTHING works perfectly, it doesn't give me any errors during flashing or anything like that. Even the program tells me that the rom has been flashed correctly, and even the rog logo during boot, changes (I suppose because it is a version of the rom prior to the one I had.). The fact is that even with that the phone is still stuck in the bootloop. I have tried more things but this is the one that has taken me the furthest. I don't know what else to try. If anyone has any ideas, please tell me.
P.D. Sorry if my English is a bit rusty.
go back to stock and try other rom.

Any suggestions which rom I can use? I have tried the rom of the guide and the ones that Asus has on their website. None of them have bailed me out.
@Arnau17 Any Updates? I am facing the same issue. Mine reaches till boot logo and then freezes and reboots again. Tried flashing stock ROM as well but no Luck
I am in the same situation, tried several raw rom files, still in bootloop
USB plug correctly on side USB port? can you enter recovery or fastboot mode?
i have same problems before, if fixed after flash RAW rom, hope this help.
