[Q] I'm rooted but i have S-ON ? - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my hero almost 3 years ago, i believe it was some method using the cmd in windows. So i just checked today for the first time if i had S-Off but i have S-On. I haven't had any issues with flashing, wiping, etc but i want to make it S-Off anyway. Would i have to re-root using a modern method?

Search the developement forum for "S-off".youll find a zip that is flashable from Hboot and youll be S- off. Next time try searching first, thanks....

I figured out that it was my radio..so i downloaded the .27 radio but my recovery couldn't flash that radio and i can't find any links for 2.5.0.7 so i'll try flashing Amon RA and then flashing the radio and unrevoked.

Okaaaay my TE is blind. I extracted Darchstar's ra zip to my sdcard and i got the img file. So i go into TE and type "su", then "flash_image recovery /sdcard/Darchstar_ra.img" but when i type that it says "flash_image: not found" I have it right on the root of my sdcard. I even tried flashing the zip via recovery but it failed lol, anyway can someone help me out please. Either a 2.5.x.x img of clockwork that i can flash or helping me with whatever the problem is for T.E

If you want to go go back to 2.5.0.7 use rom manager, once you get it back you should be good to go for.the unrevoked zips.

Originally (yesterday), flashing 2.5.0.7 through Rom Manager didn't work but today it did ^^. Thanks. We're done here.

Anyone know where I can find the .27 radio for heroc? I'm trying to use the unrevoked.zip as well to get s-off. But, its not compatible with the .29 radio.

You can flash to s-off with darchstar's Eng-SPL with .29 radio. Follow these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13955725&postcount=19. You can get the flashable zip with Eng-SPL here for now: http://tinyurl.com/863zya4

Thanks, that worked!!
Except, I'm not fully sure what this buys me that I didn't already have with root. I know I can flash recoveries from my terminal emulator, now.
But, I'm now S-OFF.

I keep a recovery.img in my HERCIMG.zip on my sdcard. I use firerats so whenever I want to try a different ROM, I boot into HBOOT and then update my recovery which gets rid of firerats. Then I can boot right to recovery. Saves me having to type out the flash_image command.
I also have a HERCIMG with a rooted stock ROM. I can then flash through HBOOT on the phone and use that to update PRL's without having to restore through recovery. If you browse around, way back someone posted a HERCIMG with the 651.7 RUU as well. That HERCIMG will remove this S-OFF.
It also enables you to use the fastboot commands.
Seems more convenient to me anyway.

Ok, nice! That would be great to be able to flash recoveries (or system images) that way.
Except, i have tried it every way I can think of and HBOOT won't recognize my HERCIMG.zip (or HERCIMG.ZIP...tried both, but i doubt its case sensitive). It always says "No image!" for HERCIMG.ZIP. The zip contains a recovery.img and the android-info.txt files.
I also tried:
-re-formatting my sdcard in recovery and placing the HERCIMG.zip back in there
-updating the android-info.txt for 2.31 or 2.27 versions...not sure that matters for flashing recoveries.
any ideas? Is there an issue with version 1.46 HBOOT? Do i need to be on 1.47 with S-OFF? I'm on 1.46.2000 with ENG S-OFF and a .29 radio.
I've seen a lot of other threads about this, but there doesn't seem to be one sure fire way to get them to be recognized.

This is a HERCIMG that I use with the CW3.0.0.5 recovery. http://tinyurl.com/6na8u2r

No dice. Same thing. Says "no image!" when it gets to the HERCIMG.zip part of the HBOOT.
Does it matter how I got it to the root of my sdcard? I copied it via USB/windows.

Make sure you name the HERCIMG.zip just "HERCIMG", it automatically becomes a HERCIMG.zip. Check the properties/details and make sure it is not named HERCIMG.zip.zip, then it won't recognize it. Also, make sure that the image inside the zip is named recovery.img and not something else, that has caused me problems in the past. S-off has saved me a few times when I have lost recovery. I also always keep a HERCIMG on my sd card with a recovery and it works great for Ruu's too!

Thanks for the help guys...but, still doesn't recognize anything. I've tried everything i can think of. Using HERCIMG files supplied by others, ones i found on xda, and created my own (in windows and in astro file manager on my phone). It has never recognized any of them. I even made sure by checking the file names in the terminal emulator that the extension/filename was correct (no zip.zip's). I also tried every combination of case (i.e. hercimg.zip, HERCIMG.zip, HERCIMG.ZIP). Looking in the terminal made me wonder if its a permissions thing with the filenames? Can't imagine that's it, b/c its got to be root user who's executing the process, right?
I'm at a loss on this one. I'm sure there's a solution, but i'm about to give up. This sH(* is annoying.

What else do you have in the zip? Is there an android-info.txt in there? What steps are you doing to install? Here is the HERCIMG that I use- http://db.tt?URG9r5L9, it's an Orange Lantern 4.0.1.4 Unofficial Clockwork.
I just reread and saw that you do have the android-info.txt. I have the same H-Boot and radio as you do too. You shouldn't need to do anything but put on the root of the SD card (don't pop in a file) and click the trackball from H-boot. It should install and then ask if you want to reboot. Press phone then home to get into recovery from there. Good luck and let me know if you pull the HERCIMG from my link.

Cool, thanks, i'll try that when i get home, since big brother is watching my downloads at work.
Did you use darch's ENG SPL method? I read a lot of threads where people had to downgrade their radio to the .27 before getting S-OFF. I never did that. Just flashed the HBOOT zip referred to earlier in this thread (referred by poashll).

Looks like its just a link to dropbox.com...not getting a file. Am i missing something?

Unable to update SPL

Since I'm unable to root my dream until I have SPL 1.33.2005 on the phone I've been trying to update it to the correct one. Once in recovery mode upon pressing alt-S with the update.zip on the root of the sdcard I get the following error
E:No signature (5 files)
E:Verification failed

Exactly what am I missing?
that spl has nothing to do with getting root as far as i know. to get root you have to downgrade to rc-29. that is haykuro's spl that frees up more memory in system

apologies for my ignorance with rogers. never had to deal with a rogers phone lol. but back to the OP's problem, if it says no signature then the spl you have for some reason is not signed. really do not know what the reason for this would be. you could have gotten a bad download of the spl. try to redownload the spl from haykuro's site and see if it will work
Even with haykuro's signed spl I still get the same error as before.
Also following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4048946&postcount=404 I get "cannot load "boot-new.img"
I have no clue whats going on anymore.

do you have the boot-new.img in the same folder as all your other fastboot required stuff. sorry for lack of proper terms. follow the second post in this thread to set up a fastboot folder and place the boot-new.img in it. see if that helps any
The new boot image is in the same folder as the fastboot exectble as well as adb. I added the path of my tools folder to the environmental variables previously as well as copied AdbWinApi.dll to the system32 folder just in case. Again no dice.
Can you use adb or fastboot for anything else?
fastboots useless until I have the new spl installed, which I can't install either.
The only thing i can think of is that since it says the files are not signed, is that you can try to sign the update.zip for the spl and try flashing it. Other than that i can think of nothing else at this time. I'm sorry. Like i said earlier don't really know anything about the rogers rooting process except for what i saw in the thread posted earlier and since i do not have a rogers device to test it on i can't know more than what i read.
PHP:
After further hunting it seems that there are two different update.zips.
One is 184kb and one is 2MB. Using the rogers dream rooting guide I get the 184k one which doesn't work. Should I start hunting for the 2mb one and give the rooting another go?
It can't hurt to look for it. I hope you can finally get it rooted
I may have just bricked the phone.
I used the recovery flasher app from the marketplace to flash the recovery image from the rogers rooting thread. That gave me the cyanogen 1.2 + JF recovery image. I then flashed the .2005 spl or so I thought. After booting into fastboot it still showed .0009 spl. I figured what the hell and made a nandroid backup, the wiped the phone and flashed it with the cyanogen rom 4.0 and now the phone is stuck on the rogers boot screen. I still can get to the modified recovery mode as well as fastboot though.
your phone is not bricked thankfully that is just a soft brick. try to flash haykuro's spl from the rogers root thread again after using the recovery flasher app.
make sure that you do not use the trackball to flash it and that you use the keyboard commands and home and back to reboot.

How to get Clockwork recovery, busybox, & root on 8/26 leaked RUU 3.21.605.1

Making a thread for this for now since it will probably get buried in the RUU post.
Most important thing first, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE RAN UNREVOKED FOREVER AND HAVE S-OFF! IF NOT DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS!
Get the RUU here:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Inc...4k_NV_1.50_PRL58006_release_143351_signed.exe
Follow this guide by IncredibleDoes to extract the rom.zip update here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695825&highlight=RUU
(don't download the file he tells you to, download the one linked above, but follow the rest of the guide to get the rom.zip file)
Once you get the rom.zip, follow this guide below:
1. Install this update, get rom.zip from the RUU file, rename to PB31IMG.ZIP (somewhere in this thread there is a post with link to rom.zip, but you still have to rename it), make sure your SD-Card was formatted as Fat32 and put this on the root.
2. Boot into hboot
3. Install PB31IMG.ZIP (not the one I attached to this post)
**Step 3 note** Your phone might reboot to either hboot or recovery after trying to install PB31IMG.ZIP, just get back to hboot and install again, when you get back to hboot you should notice its version .92 and S-OFF is still on, just install PB31IMG.ZIP again and all should be good. I believe at one point after it updates hboot it has to reboot to finish the install, so this might be what you are seeing.
4. Reboot, setup your google account, etc. (note first boot might take a few minutes and appear that your phone is stuck at the droid eye animation, be patient and don't do a battery pull)
5. Put the files I attached to this post on root of your SD-Card
***Files are PB31IMG.ZIP (this is not the update, either delete the other PB31IMG.ZIP or rename it to PB31IMG.BAK, this is just clockwork recovery in the PB31IMG.ZIP) , busybox.zip (remove the.zip extension, so the file is just busybox) ,payload-update.zip, and su-2.3.2.1-ef-signed.zip***
6. Power down phone and boot to hboot (hold optical button + power)
7. Install PB31IMG.ZIP in hboot, this installs clockwork recovery
8. Once that is done installing, press volume down, so your phone doesnt reboot, then select recovery
9. Once you boot into recovery choose install zip from SD-Card, then choose payload-update.zip
10. After that installs, choose to install another zip and install su-2.3.2.1-ef-signed.zip
11. Reboot and enjoy your rooted phone.
***Update*** I didn't realize busybox wasn't in the payload-update.zip I have attached it to this post. This site wouldn't let me post it without an extension, so rename busybox.zip --> busybox with no .zip extension. Also you can easily go to the market and download busybox, this requires root, which you will have, and it will install busybox for you after you click install.
Might as well put the usual disclaimer while I am editing this.
I take no responsibility for what you do to your phone, any issues, explosions, or bricks are caused at your own discretion.

Yes
This updates your hboot to .92 and OS and I don't think the splash changes, but it is in the update. The radio will update if you don't already have the 2.15 radio installed.
Why can't we JUST flash the OS? I already have 2.15 radio, and I don't care about Hboot.
Can't we just flash the OS and leave everything else the same? Like other custom ROMs?

You could, but this is just the way to do things now until someone puts out a rom. If you install this as-is, unrevoked 3 doesnt work anymore. This is a workaround to get root and recovery on your phone. I think the hboot .92 blocks unrevoked 3 from working, seems thats the part it failed for me was when it was in hboot. Of course we could always downgrade hboot.

Guys you gotta give devs time to DEVelope, and to POST there new stuff. this leak just came about last night.
if you notice this is the 4TH leak, AND like the 3 previous leaks, there has been ROMs built from the leaks, AND ROMs of the leak, so give it time, this is just for those who have S-OFF have no patience. and are WILLING and nice enough to test and share there information.
people with S-OFF have the option of doing this, and of coarse downgrading hboot, blah blah, if you don't want to deal with all that, (which is me) wait for the awesome devs to do there thing, and release there stuff. you know Adrynalye is all over this, and will have a 4th wave put out when he has the time. patience is a virtue. too bad me and most don't have much.

Question
I asked this in another thread, but this one seems to be a much more appropriate place to ask ... for those of us with SOFF but otherwise stock, is there a reason to go through the extraction/etc steps ... what is the downside of just running the RUU?

Nandroid Restore?
Thanks ... one more question.
If I try this, and hate it (or it turns out to be super buggy), can I restore a nandroid backup of my current setup (Radio 1.00.3.xxxx; HBOOT .77; Stock 2.1-Update) or will some of that not restore.
Thanks!

Another HERCIMG question...

So my not so brilliant girlfriend tried to flash a ROM herself and its now in a reboot loop with HTC white screen and a sprint load screen. No backup, computer does not recognize the phone when plugged in, it does charge though. Hboot 1.47 does work and so does CWR 2.5.07....I tried to flash HERCIMG.ZIP but its not finding it in Hboot. I can see the file in recovery though. It is S-On, so I know there may be issues with that as well. I did format the SD card via my computer card reader as well.
I have another phone for her but I really just want to see if I can fix it. Anyone have any longshot ideas?
go here,,,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=759955,, its an s-off tool. install it and you may be able to flash your HERCIMG.img file. Or you can possibly get an RUU thats flashable through HBOOT and then reroot and start from scratch... later man
Im obviously cool with going back to factory at this point. Given cuurent state of the loop, anything do needs to be flashable I think.
I know you can find RUU's here in developement.somewhere that are flashable from hboot and some from recovery which ever you prefere or are able to. You need to be s-off the flash a HERCIMG file from h-boot, you can ruu though. If toy can get into recovery, just flash a new Rom and gapps. Make sure you format everything in cwm multiple times. I format boot, system, cache and data 3x. Sounds like overkill, but it cleans out the dingleberries.

Have you checked to make sure that you haven't named it HERCIMG.zip.zip? If you put .zip in the name, it will show up twice. If you can get into recovery, I don't see why you want to ruu when you could use something more optimized (like NFX sense roms) or custom CM7, AOSP, etc.
You should be able to ruu without changing the radio. It will change it when you flash the ruu. Use Darchs SPL ENG for S-off and you don't have to change the radio I believe for that one. Regaws is permanent and you need to downgrade I think.

Help! no reovery

you should make a gold card (just goole it)
or well can you update via ota, under settings look for updates, if you can get to 1.5 then you can use androot or maybe see if THIS GUIDE helps.
ive only rooted one rogers branded g1, and you dont do the dreaimg.nbh method rather
LIKE SO but at this point you need to move on, try some of the above stuff

ok went searching for update in settings and noticed firmware is at 1.5 , I didn't think it could update automatically without a sim? so I'm guessing DREAIMG.nbh didn't take? Just messed my recovery? I installed Androot and it says I'm "already rooted, root again?" The first guide you pointed to THIS GUIDE says for "Tmobile G1 only", should I go ahead anyway? The last one LIKE SO , I would like to try the rogers_1.89.631.1.nbh but it seems to have disappeared from the net. I'll look into the gold card idea this weekend. Thx for your input :good:

Well made a gold card, but got a message "main version is older" when I tried to update the image, I think the problem is finding the right image file. I thought Gold cards got around that? I guess I'll just use 1.5, doesn't have everything I want, but its working at least. thx for the help just the same
The gold card didn't take, may need to use a different sd.
But did you say you have root? Do you have a custom recovery? Maybe you can go about this in a different way, can you post everything on your bootloader screen?

I read your post to m3talmouth:
Find amonra recovery in xda, latest is 1.7 something
Put on root of sd card and name it recovery.img
Open a terminal and type
su
If you see a # procees
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
If you have an error it could be you need to add the flash image bianary or you have a bad download or named it wrong,
I figured It might work for me, now I have AmonRA recovery 1.7 :good:
So now following the guide you posted earlier http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Dream/Rooting_Branded_EBI1s, I should install the engineering SPL, then the EB1 port file, then flash cm 6.1.zip?
Hey good! Well if you have a custom recovery you are most of the way there, now remember you have a rogers dream and need tgo flash the proper radio and spl, make sure they are listed for your phone, check md5sums, flash radio first then spl then id recomend cm5 (faster) flash rom and gapps
Do this right, just the other day someone flashed either spl first or a curropt image and got a brick. Only warning so you don't but as long as you do what I said above you'll be safe

Well...I i did a nandroid backup, tried i now have the eng SPL installed, tried the CM 6.1 as it was easier to find for my phone + the port file, but it stuck at rogers boot screen. I've seen some posts for 2708 kernel but it never mentions this in any of the install guides. I have found CM 5 roms but only with the 2708 kernel and no mention of rogers, so I'm staying clear of those for the moment. Will search some more for CM 5, its not Android 2.2 though is it?
Cm5 is 2.1 but smoother than cm6 on these phones. You can flash the one in cm wiki just flash the right kernel on top of it. If you want to do the 2708+ update (I say a good idea) then just follow ezterrys instruction in his thread. Download radio and SPL, check md5sums, and then flash via fastboot. Now they can also be flashed in recovery but I don't recommend it. After that you can flash any of the newer ROMs and it won't mater that your phone was once rogers. But older ROMs (mostly eclair and older) will need a different kernel flashed on top of them

Success!!!!! I have CM 5.08 + 2708 installed and working, thx for everything, will try this mod for a while to see if it covers all I need, if so I'm good to go. :good:
Awesome! You may need to move to froyo if apps you need aren't avalible on 2.1, there are many good aosp and cm variants just straight cm6 is kinda poor on these phones, try a few out, make nandroids so you can change back easy, there are about a dozen 2.3 and 2.2 roms that I feel run great on the dream and I personally keep a back up of each for a quick change

Do not forget that your phone is no longer EBI1.
You will no longer need to flash EBI1 ports.
On a side note, looks like you somehow got the 1.33.0014 update.
1.33.0014 is a bootloader released by HTC somewhere last year for HTC Dream. They claimed it was unlockable, and you could flash with it. I did the unlock process, and I can promise you that HTC duped us. It's not unlockable. The unlock does absolutely nothing other than change the text at the top. I even had someone reverse some of the code, and they claimed the code for doing fastboot flash doesn't seem to be there.
yeah the .0014 official unlocked bootloader is a crock, when it first came out i was about to test it and someone else here tried first, turned into a nightmare for him so i tell all to stay away! some phones it actually isnt too bad if better ways like hacked bootloaders or radio s-off has been found for it, but its a pain and you usually need to flash a rom in recovery, extract the kernel from the .zip and then flash the kernel through fastboot.
so yeah any phone that you dont need this option, stay far away from it!

Trying to get back to Stock - Rogers M7_ul

I could really use your help guys. I'm trying to get back to stock so I can get the updates being pushed by HTC/Rogers. There are a couple bugs that are really annoying me. So, before i tell you what I need, here's what I have.
M7_ul
Locked Bootloader - was relocked after unlocking a while ago
Rooted
CWM recovery
Stock HTC ROM
S-OFF
Baseband 4a.14.3250.14
Main 1.29.631.4
Modelid: PN0712000
CID: Roger001
Now, what I need is either the RUU or the stock recovery files and some sort of guide on how to install them. I've tried downloading from here: http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads/P60 but i can't flash it via CWM. I've also tried downloading and RUU from here: http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1...5013-1033115001-release-312087-signed-2-4zip/ but when i unzip i get corrupt files and i can't move it to the phone.
I'm at a complete loss here. I would really appreciate any guidance you guys can provide. Any idea where I can get the proper RUU and how I can install it? Or if it's easier to just get the stock recovery, any idea where I can get it and how to install it using CWM or another method such as terminal emulator?
no need to relock bootloader is s-off'd
easiest way, IF there is an ruu or ruu zip for the rogers variant (you would need the ruu files that match 1.29.631.4) floating around i suggest this...back up sd card contents, boot into recovery...wipe the system, reboot into bootloader connect device via fastboot, run the ruu..one it boots except the ota
done
but how do i run the RUU and how do I know which exactly is the right RUU for me? I've heard RUUs are exe files but i haven't found any that are. The one I think is right for me is a zip and it seems to be corrupt though I dled the 1gb file twice. So i'm a bit confused.

You can find the RUU you need here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2207874

Thanks so much. But I'm still not sure which version to get. I tried the RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.29.707.3_R_Radio_4A.14.3250.13_10.33.1150.01_release_311678_signed.exe but no go. I get an error. Says it's the wrong ROM. Ugh. I've had no luck with this. So frustrating.

This is what I did and it worked like a charm... minus of course the issue after the software update which got fixed anyway.

Ugh. Thanks cue_32. I had just downloaded that file when I saw your post, so I was very hopeful this would work. Pushed it to my phone, tried installing via CWM but almost immediately it said installation aborted. I have no idea what's going on. Nothing seems to be installable. WTF? And the link you posted for the stock recovery doesn't seem to lead to anywhere that has a recovery file for DL. So, I'm totally stuck now. UGH. Been on this for almost 2 days now. Haven't run into this much trouble with any of my previous phones, despite trying out almost a dozen different ROMs. Here, I'm just trying to revert to stock recovery and RUU and can't even do that. Sigh. I just don't get why none of the RUUs are installable.

There's no RUU available yet for Rogers so I personally wouldn't try any other RUU.
So you downloaded the Nandroid backup from Whamboush (or whatever the name was), you extracted and moved the EXTRACTED FOLDER to the proper location (Clockwork>Backup) and updated the permissions correct? I used Root Browser to do this, the permission should be exactly like your other CWM backups. If I recall correctly there are 3 columns with 3 rows, all are X'd except for the last box on the 2nd column\3rd Row. (middle\bottom)
example:
X _ X
From there I just did the restore using the original clock work mod (non-touch cause I'm old skool)
After it successfully flashes, before it prompts you to reboot you'll be prompted to re-root from within CWM itself. Select No.
After it reboots, test to make sure everything is ok.
Then enter fastboot mode (adb reboot bootloader), from fastboot mode you can then flash the recovery.
You're welcome

Flash, unroot (if necessary) and flash stock recovery, which is what the instructions I provided, and optional lock the boot loader
So, I tried changing the permissions, which I hadn't done before, using Root Explorer but it says that some files can't be modified. So I can't set the permissions and CWM won't see those files at all, so that's not an option it seems. So I decided to just flash the recovery but when i do i get an error in adb Failed (remote: not allowed). So, that's not working either. Hehe. Every time I think i got it, something stands in the way. Will definitely feel like an accomplishment when i get this thing done finally, just not sure how or when it'll happen.

well, interested in another option.....i havent done this, but some people do...
change you CID to some device which has rcvd OTA, like mine is HTC_J15....just an example... now your mobile would be WWE internation blah blah... now grab the RUU.exe for it....backup all your data...and run it.....and then go for the OTA's ...in short the region of your device would be changed... you will have to find it in the forum itself... there are tutorials out there to do it...
Well, I'm leaving for the weekend, so I'll have to put this aside for now. In my research I had come across what you are suggesting but it seemed like more trouble and a little confusing so I opted against it, but maybe I'll have to revisit it when i get back. Hopefully you guys will still be around to provide some guidance. I do appreciate all your help. THanks again.

Just to be sure, the EXTRACTED FOLDER I'm referring to is the last folder before you see ALL the files of the 'ROM' like boot.img, cache.ext4.tar, recovery.img, etc...This folder is the one you want to make the permission changes to.
I had the exact same problem before and tried on ES File explorer, Astro File explorer, and Root browser (not root explorer although Im sure it works too). (I've never had to have this many installed at once) but basically this was the problem because after I extracted and updated the permission using Root browser, it worked on 1st try.
What I had done as well is make sure I was moving the extracted folder to the proper location by doing a nandroid back up first. From there I located the backup I just created and moved the extracted folder there. Once the extracted folder is in the right place, I went and used root browser and updated the permissions.
This totally worked Cue. Thank you so much. Finally managed to get the nandroid back up flashed, but then when I went to flash the recovery, i got an error: Failed (remote: not allowed). Ugh. So baby steps, but still in the right direction. So now my status is, Locked bootloader, s-off, flashed nandroid backup, but still have CWM recovery which I apparently can't seem to shake. Anyone know where I can maybe find a .zip recovery that I can try flashing via CWM? Not sure whether that's even possible, as CWM would essentially be overwriting itself but not sure what other options i have. From the research I've done so far though, it seems i can't flash a recovery with a locked bootloader. It does feel like i'm going around in circles here.

Do i really have to go through the entire unlock bootloader process to flash stock recovery? Ugh. I honestly don't get why this is so complicated. My previous phones were SOOO much simpler in comparison. This just feels like way too much trouble. I originally just wanted a rooted phone to get rid of bloatware and other small tweaks. I had no idea it would have such annoying consequences. Now, I'm just trying to get the stock ROM updated with HTC's latest bug fixes and software upgrade before i try and custom roms. I suspect it's not going to get easier though. I think once i get this finally done, i'm just going to leave the phone as is, completely stock at least until the 4.2.2 upgrade. Then after that I'll root it again. I used to love this process of rooting, installing custom roms, etc. Was fun, but this is just tedious as all hell. Hehe. Anyway, enough ranting. Ya, if anyone can tell me what my next step is, I'd be grateful.
