Complete Backup - Samsung Galaxy Mini

Hi everybody,
I'm looking for a stable custom ROM for my Galaxy Next/Mini, but first of all I want to do a complete backup (apps + apps data + data) and save the backup copy of the files on my PC.
Now I'm using Android 2.3.4 (by Kies) with CWM, Root access and Link2SD( I want also to maintain the 500mb ext partition made via CWM)
Can you help me?
P.S: i've found that emanoN ROM v3 seems to be the most stable customROM, do you agree?

you can go for emanoN v3 but in my opinion cm7 is best compatible OC'ed able and super smooth and for backup use clockworkmod recovery backup or try backing up app with es file explorer and for data copy the data folder from /system/data/data

Thanks for your reply.
Now, using Titanium Backup, i went into Backup/Restore menu, clicked the botton at the left of the Home bottom (sorry, I don't know the exact english name of it), go into Others and I've found "Create 'update.zip' ".
Using this function will it make a backup copy(of apps and app's data) flashable via recovery?

No. That option will create a flashable .zip to install your titanium backup trough recovery.

Using the app ANDROZIP or ASTRO FILE MANAGER, you can take backup of all the applications installed in ur mobile.
Androzip>Options>App manager> ..select which all apps to take backup..the setup files of those apps ll be saved in SD card in the folder 'app backup'
if you have any data saved in each app, that app will be having its own backup option.
Contacts, SMS and call logs could be backedup using SUPERBACKUP app

If you are on custom rom it's a matter of breeze. Just go to CWM recovery and do a nandroid backup. Read how to backup all apps and data article below:
http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/10/how-to-backup-all-applications-and-data.html
If you are on stock rom flash CWM recovery v5 and then do the backup as in the article above.... Here is the link to download and flash latest CWM recovery v5.0.2.6 : http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/09/installing-clock-work-mod-recovery-in.html

Pay attentintion, since backup from one rom to another may not work,
since different roms may store data in different places (sms, contact ?).
If you want to dump an exact copy of you ROM+APPS+SETTINGS+DATA you can follow this 3d...

u need the titanium backup app(needs root access) first
download it from below
after that open the app and select the apps that u want to backup and select apps + data option
now a folder named Titanium Backup will be created in your sd card ,copy it to your pc
after u flash a new rom paste that again in your sd card and run the app and restore all apps and u are done
and for a custom rom cm7 is a good choice for mini

1. Install Rom Manager, and from there flash ClockworkMod Recovery.
Enter ClockworkMod recovery. (reboot in recovery, or boot while holding power + volume down button) In ClockworkMod recovery select backup/restore and then backup (you can navigate using the volume buttons and power button)
2. Pretty much the same as 1. A nandroid backup (recovery backup) backups everything. But, if you only want a backup of your apps and data you could always use Titanium Backup.
3. With My Backup you can backup your contacts etc.
4. Download the rom onto your SD card. The rom will be in zip format, no need to unpack it.
From there boot into recovery, select the options:
factory reset/wipe data (root will not be erased)
Wipe cache
Advanced --> wipe dalvik
And then select the option install zip from SD card and choose the right SD card. (internal or external)

1. How do I save my stock rom (2.3.4)?
To save your stock rom you need Rom Manager. Once you have installed Rom Manager you must "Flash ClockworkMod recovery. Once you have done that, you must swithch your phone off. Once it is off, press and hold the volume up (+) and down (-) button while holding the power button. Do this for about 10 seconds and it will boot into ClockworkMod recovery. Once in there go to "backup and restore" and then "backup" Now after that you will have a nandroid backup.
2. How do I backup all my apps and data?
To backup all your apps and data use Titanium Backup . Once you have installed Titanium Backup, go to "backup/restore" push the options key on your phone and then press"Batch". Now select "Backup all user apps/system data".
3. How do I backup my sms , contacts etc ?
Use MyPhoneExplorer Client. You need to also install the software on your computer. Once you have done that. Open it on your phone and connect your phone to your pc. Then open the software on your computer and click sync.
4. How do I put the new rom ?
Oce you have got ClockworkMod recovery installed you can flash a new rom.
Do a full wipe in recovery mode (wipe data, cache, dalvik) but you can always restore your data with titanium backup. What you also could do in case everything goes wrong (I highly doubt it) is to make a total rom backup which you would have done if you did the back up like I said in question 1. You can also press "backup rom" in Rom Manager. In my signature there is a "rom" and "kernel" which I use. You could try that if you want.
Good Luck
ok i got a question, i have a nandroid backup of the stock rom ive used before, android 2.3.4 and if i restore using clockworkmod everything will be okay

No, it depends on what rom you using. You would have to change the partitions back.

Yes, you need to flash a backtoext3 converter (try this) before restoring your original backup, as CM7 uses ext4 for the system-partition.
The backup includes everything you need: the boot-image including kernel (boot-partition) the firmware/OS (system-partition), user-apps, settings and data (data-partition). The only iffy part may be apps installed on the SD-card. To be absolutely sure move all apps to internal storage before backup. (This step is more than likely not needed, but it's good practice to have a complete backup and not have files dangling here and there.)
As for downloaded game-data, unless you format your sd-card (or move or delete the data in any way), the data will still be there when you come back to CM7 (if you do).
First press VOLUME DOWN and then POWER button altogether. You will enter RECOVERY MODE. On this mode, wipe all data (data, cache, dalvik, etc). There are 3 wipe data menus, take them all.
After wipe data success you should have stock rom working
Good Luck

[Q] Just flashed new ROM

Hi guys,
I just flashed a new rom -Stocklite 7.1
This is my first attempt at flashing a ROM so bare with me.
I created a Nandroid backup prior to flashing and I also copied the entire contents of the SD card over to my computer.
I am using Link2SD and an ext partion as well.
Flashed succesfully. However none of my previous apps / data show up, this was slightly unexpected. I attempted to peform a nandroid data only backup to get these by going to recovery mode then advanced data only restore.
But i got an md5 mismatch.
Basically.
I am trying to restore my apps / data and I want to keep the stocklite 7.1 ROM. NOT a full restore.
Any help?
I recommend using titanium backup for backing up your apps. But, you can probably get user apps by coppying/flashing them to where they belong.
Options:
1 go back to stock rom by restoring your stock backup, make a backup using titanium backup, flash stock lite, install titanium backup, restore your apps. To succesfully restore your stock nandroid backup use te ext4 manager app, convert system to rfs, go to recovery, restore.
2 - open your stock backup on your computer with unpacking or iso software (like 7 zip), extract your user apps (apk files), create a flashable zip to flash them to data/app, system/app as needed. You can also flash their libs and data files to data/data and dalvik-cache to data/dalvik-cache. That should restore user apps and their data to internal memory if you don't want to use titanium backup.
You lost all your data..you should have a taken app backups with Titanium Backup,Nandroid isn't enough.
MD5 mismatch is showing up because you changed the name of the backup folder ..
You can open the backup manually, and get all the data.It might or not work, that would depend oon your luck
Thanks for the posts guys!
I just wasn't thinking. I had already taken a titanium backup full backup so thats' all good!

[Q]Queries about flashing ROM

Hello I am newbie here.I know there is a thread for how to instal CWM recovery & how to flash custom roms, but I find that method very confusing . I have upgraded my phone to Gingerbead 2.3.6 using ODIN player (Build number:- DDKQ8). I have already rooted my phone using that zip file method. Now I want to install CWM recovery v5.0.2.6. Here are my questions.
1. Do I need to install CWM recovery v 4.0.0.9 first & then need to update it to 5.0.2.6 ? If so, how to do that?
2. After installing CWM, I want to backup my current OS,which is an official GB 2.3.6 update provided by Samsung for my country. How to backup it?
3.I still use 2GB sd card,so how much space is needed in my sd as well as internal memory while installing custom rom?
4.After installing new rom will my data stored in sd card (app backup files, music files, pictures etc.) get erased?
5.Please suggest me a good custom rom which has:- great battery backup, good interface, exciting features, fast response etc.)
Thanks in advance!
WellCome..
1) No, you can directly install 5.0.2.6..
2) In recovery You will get options for backup and restore..this will take the backup of your current rom and you can restore at any time through it..
3) No need to make any free space..if you are not using any ext partition..
4) Not At all..it wont touch your sd card data..
5) It depends on You,Which Rom you like..read their thread for more info of the rom..

Sorry for asking u again, I am going to flash Apocalypse final 9.7.2012 ROMhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1700749 , but I have few questions. The installation procedure is as follows:-
Installation Procedure - Step 1 (rom)
1. boot into CWM5 Recovery
2. wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik
3. format cache/data/system/sd-ext
4. MOUNT DATA
5. flash APOCALYPSE-17.06.12
5. reboot and complete the setup wizard
What is mount data? I can't see that option in CWM 5 or is it suppossed to be mount/data ?
also it's a barebone ROM, so from where i can find essential apps like sms, mms, camera? also does bareback ROM contain google apps like gmail, gmaps, navigation etc. ?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] official v20 zip

I wonder if there is any way to find the official v20 euro open in zip file in order to flash it wherever I am via cwm without using a computer .thanks in advance
You can clean install v20 and back up with cwm. Firmwares come in kdz.
and then? i will make a wipe and after that i will backup from sd and thats all?
You should backup from sd first. If you are having any games, use titanium backup to backup and then backup using astro or file expert the apk and data file (obb file). You can install the game using apk and data file and then restore titanium backup to resume the game where you left. If you do install from LGFlashTool, it will format the phone. Just simple cwm backup after factory reset. I think it is better to install from pc than cwm. I hope you understand.

When you backup the rom, everything will be backed up. However, using a backup made by cwm will technically not backup your applications for you. While they will be there if you restore the backup, you won't have access to them if you go to a new rom or ftf or whatever it is that you are trying to do.
Titanium Backup is a great tool to backup your apps. It does both the app and the data, so it's pretty convenient. Personally, I like to make sure that the backup folder is somewhere on my sd card.
