LG Release ICS - LG Thrill 4G

Source
"Following the footsteps of Samsung and Sony, LG has come forth with details on which devices will be getting Android 4.0 -- also known as Ice Cream Sandwich "
"During the second quarter of 2012 upgrades will begin for the following smartphone models: the LG Optimus LTE, Prada phone by LG 3.0, the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus Sol, the LG myTouch Q and the LG Eclipse. These upgrades will be followed by upgrades for the following smartphone models during the third quarter of 2012: the LG Optimus 3D, the LG Optimus Black, the LG Optimus Big, the LG Optimus Q2 and the LG Optimus EX."
Well it looks like by the end of the year LG will have ICS release for our device, but (and its a big one) we obviously dont know how long it will take at&t to ready it for us.
So it looks like AT&T will let us down even more.
With that being said from now on all my android decives will be bough directly from google, to ensure that I get the latest android builds.
FYI: for those that are not aware LG has also already released GB for our phone and AT&T has it, but we all know how that is going.

You're speculating 12 months in advance on a topic that's already been posted multiple times. Nobody cares about your tale of woe or where you plan to get your next phone.

That's a fake rom with a funny launcher.

This is the last time I buy a LG phone. I very much regret purchasing the Thrill 4G and if I could return it (I am beyond the 30 day window), I would.
---------- Post added at 10:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:21 AM ----------
The stock ROM is horrible with all the bloat. All that crap kills my battery, and it is only running Andorid 2.2, so everything is sluggish. My single core Droid X that I bought a year ago was much faster. LG bloat is a perfect example why Google needs to lock down the manufacture and carrier software that is installed on Android devices.

LG and AT&T sucks!

I was super excited to get this phone but once I started rooting it and wanting to do more it has done nothing but give me problems. I live in a 4G area but I'm getting less then 3G speeds, all AT&T will do it kinda look at it until I get mad enough to just walk out of the store. When I call in I ask to be offered another phone and an upgrade price and they refuse, I've only been with AT&T for 7 months and I'm ready to break the contract and leave for good.

Gingerbread in Optimus 2x?

I saw an article on XDA Facebook, and in it it says that the Optimus 2x will launch with Gingerbread?
http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...rs/ShsH+(xda-developers)&utm_content=FaceBook
From what i have seen the Optimus 2x launches with a 2.2.2 Froyo, so is this a mistake in article or will it realy launch with gingerbread?
Good Question! Would be nice to know where xda got their information from.
At this time , I don't think it will pre-install 2.3 when it become on sell to the market

I too dont think thats true. LG would already have announced it because that would be huge news.

here they say it will be Froyo so I really don't know xD maybe later versions will be with gingerbread
Well here in Denmark, it will be sold with the Android 2.2 Froyo, but it will be able to be updated to gingerbread when you take it out of the box

This indeed is very very interesting:
Is this written on the outside of the box? If this is the case and its also on other language-versions, LG would be obligated to give us endless Android updates.
If they will once stop doing so, we could constrain them by a lawsuit or get our money back.

I downloaded the sync software from LG just to be ready when my phone arrives and I was told there was an upgrade available. Have you tried this? Might be some bug fixes.
Also, is that advanced task killer I see in the notification bar? Task killers may affect performance and stabillity in froyo if used indescrimimately. Please do not use this when doing initial testing before you report back on the phone here.

It's good if they will actually stick to their word this time but it's still quite crap that it will have taken them nearly 6 months to release. When the devs on here have already released gingerbread ROMs!!
Come on LG some your [email protected]#t out!!
I wish people would stop posting these, it's clear that LG have no idea when they're releasing it.
It especially didn't need a new thread when there are so many on it already.

Would still be great to have the sources for 2.3 - together with the LG Apps (esp. Camera app) which will work on 2.3 ...
the main reason, maybe LG didn't know how to make GB fully operational in optimus 2x or they too busy to prepare a new comer, optimus 3d etc. etc?
Probably the amount of bugs to fix
don't hold your breath.
One thing is for sure.
There are going to be a lot of Pissed off people if we get the GB update and the phone still suffers from overheating and shutdown issues

Gingerbread incoming?

There has been reports that Optimus one, 2x and 3D are starting to get the GB update.

Gingerbread will gonna boost some performance for sure. I've experienced this with galaxy ace. LG singapore has announced 2.3.x OTA for some phones, i'm sure our phone is next and i believe our devs will be excited.

I think you should not sell your OB, coz it has nice hardware. and it is still competitive to other high end phones. especially when you use Cyanogenmod ROMS and other really nice ROMS (like Nova )
By the way, Gingerbread update here in Philippines will be on October.

Because it is a list of current phones that will be upgraded. The D3 is a current phone that is not listed, which means it will most likely not be getting an upgrade. However, no one knows for sure
I'm not sure it indicates anything. The D3 isn't listed in the list below either where all of the other phones are.

This was my thought.. that top banner of text seems as more of a teaser for those who just purchased their bionic and razr to silence the people worried if their recently purchased phone is going to receive android 4.0.
The Droid 3 isn't listed on the page at all and obviously it exists.. so I don't think that upgrade page means a thing. I would assume those would just be the first to get it then other phones that are capable would have 4.0 implemented. Since the D3 is so similar, I doubt the bionic will receive 4.0 without the D3 being considered..
http://phandroid.com/2011/10/24/mot...-release-beginning-with-razr-bionic-and-xoom/
A few sites(check google) say that these lists are just motorola confirming which phones will get ics over the next few weels starting with the razr, bionic and xoom.

Has anyone noticed that only verizon moto phones are listed? That cannot be a complete list, what about the photon? The atrix 2? I highly doubt this is a complete list of devices that can be upgraded. This is just for hype, companies like to do this so people buy their phones for the upgrade. If this is the complete list, our beloved Droid 3 has booted ICS already so there is no need to worry.
I'm probably going to thoroughly ***** a verizon rep out. I'm not big on ICS to be honest but the fact that they dropped this, then like 10 other phones in the few months following is terrible business practicing. My phone shouldn't be obsolete in 2 weeks.
I may just drop Verizon and goto Sprint while it's still got unlimited data. Tho that would probably leave me with $600 in termination fees. Good thing I got credit growing from things bigger than Verizon?
Page obviously needs an update on all the new phones, looks like it's 6+ months out of date so it has no real relevant information for new phones at all.
We will more then likely get ICS.
-smc
That's technology. You don't wanna be outdated get an iPhone. With the overclocks, custom ROMs, Hash working on ICS, and everything, why wouldn't our phone keep up? I mean it's got the hardware to be current for a while minus 4G.

GWR Wi-Fi Update/ Android Wear Update

Has anyone else had any new news regarding the info from this article? http://phandroid.com/2015/07/12/exclusive-android-wear-interactive-watch-faces/
I mean, its pretty obvious nothing is coming out this week, but maybe someone has heard about another release date?
Maybe it depends on how the Urbane sales are going. If they are slow we might have to wait even longer for the update so they can carry on pushing it as the only LG watch with WiFi!!!!!

That is true, however they explained this in May so that people won't get confused:
“LG Watch Urbane is the only wearable device Currently shipping with the latest version of Android Wear OS and is Wi-Fi capable out of the box. The original LG G Watch was not designed with Wi-Fi in mind and will not have this capability even after the Android Wear update. LG G Watch R will require a maintenance release after the patch update to Android Wear-access Wi-Fi networks. LG engineers are preparing the patch now for availability in the third quarter.”

I'm gonna wait myself. I don't rush updates anymore. I have found the old adage "be careful what you ask for" to be spot on with it comes to Android updates over the past year or so.
