[Q] Can't flash modem on Sprint Tab - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm pretty much at wits end and completely out of ideas. Long story short, I've successfully used several different Rom's and Kernels without issue but decided to just revert back to stock. I'm just trying to reflash back to the original EA24 Rom. However it flat out refuses to reflash the modem. Everything else works fine and if I omit the modem file when flashing via Heimdall it works perfectly (minus 3G obviously).
However, if I include the modem file or try to flash just the modem after flashing the Rom, it just hangs once it reaches 100%. I've attempted it no less than a dozen times and it just refuses to flash the modem. No errors, it just hangs.
Does anyone have any ideas at all on how to correct this? Sprint was zero help whatsoever.

There's a post in the development section. The really recent so should be easy to find.

Yeah keep trying. I've had Odin hang modem before. Alternate between heimdall and Odin. Rodderik has a thread that should help in Dev section.

[Q] Flashing Bell Galaxy S

Hi guys, not sure if this is the right section. I attempted to flash my Bell Galaxy S with the [ROM] Bionix 1.9 - JI6 OTA Build - Oops I did it again *10/14/10* and basically it installed no problem, but once it did my phone would no longer connect to the network at all. No voice or data connection just sat on searching. I restored from my nandriod backup and to my horror, still no network connection (voice or data), wifi and everything else worked fine. I ended up doing a lot of reading and staying up until 8AM to get everything fixed, felt a little stupid once i knew how-to fix it.
But now to my question, if i want to flash one of the roms, is there any special procedure that i need to follow to not loose my cell network? Any help would be fantastic
LOL... Thats sux's anyways you can't flash that rom. its not for your phone you have a GT-I9000... that rom you have flashed is for the SGH-T959.... You will need to download Odin 1.3 and flash back the whole JH2 firmware to get your radio files back. or download any rom from the i9000 forums and flash it.. but the only way to get 850mhz back is to flash to the stock JH2 firmware. unless you know what your doing and know how to flash just the radio files. you can also try kies with a reg hack to flash different firmwares.. just look around in the i9000 forums..
Go to samsung-firmwares.com and download the JH2 firmware then flash it back. Tmobile Vibrant is different from the i9000x line of phones.
I think you guys misunderstood, I have fixed it already using ODIN. I was just wondering what was flashable without breaking my radio.

[Q] Probably the wrong place...

I'm not quite sure if people still visit these threads, but I'll give it a shot. My friend gave me his old captivate i897 because he got a new phone. He is on AT&T, while I am on T-mobile. So I looked up how to unlock this phone, and it said that I needed to root. I looked up how to do this in the seemingly thousands of different ways. It was running gingerbread, and the only working program I could find to do this was gingerbreak. I ran it, and it seemed like it was going to work. I then ran the unlocking software, and it would not let me do so because of a supposed bad root. Following this, I researched some more, and found that other unlocks work on froyo. I then tried to revert the phone to froyo using odin. This worked, except the phone then believed that it was a i9000 instead of a 897. I realize that I must have used the wrong program. The phone itself worked fine, but it registered as a 9000. For some reason, I then continued my quest to unlock/ re root. I ended up trying to use heimdall one-click. It could not find my device. I then turned to a stock flash thing. I tried cognition 5, which involved frugu or something. Anyway, the phone has the noise/lines running across when i turn it on. It will enter download mode. Have I bricked it? If not, is there anything that I can do?
Not bricked. Is the first screen the white at&t world phone one or the black one that says gt-i9000? If the latter, hold volume down only and plug in USB to get download mode.
Also, the garbled screen is from trying to use a gingerbread kernel with old bootloaders.

Get into download mode and use one of these GB 2.3.5 i897ucKK4 one clicks with bootloaders...here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18370912.
Then use the regular Odin to flash the KK4 Corn Kernel v7.0A to get a compatible kernel with CWM Recovery included. And as a bonus, within that recovery u can get Root...here is the kernel thread...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18233847
Afterwards proceed how u wish as far as flashing other Roms.
(Another Root method here...[Utility] KK4 Easy Root)

[Q] Trying to bring 8.9 wifi US back to stock

Hello all, I'd like to apologize in advance if this is covered somewhere but I searched and may just be missing it.
So here's the issue. Bought galaxy tab 8.9 wifi around when it was released. Used it for a few months. Played with a few roms and kernels, got a ****ty rom combination and just lost interest in the roms (mostly because work forced me into an iphone so I had to give up my gnex).
Fast forward a year I pick up my tablet again.
Played around with it for a day and couldn't get things restored properly.
I believe it was on a stock rom but someone elses kernel when I tried all this. But OTA update wouldn't work.
So I installed CWR through odin. Installation went fine.
Then rooted the phone through CWR, again everything working properly.
Tried to flash to most current version of AOSP and tablet and it won't boot. Screen stay's black after 20 minutes.
I can get into the tablet via Odin to repair it I'm just not sure what files I need.
So what I was looking for was to bring the tablet back to stock, if possible. To start from scratch.
I have the file for stock recovery, but not a stock kernel or stock rom. I have not been able to find these for my model of device. GT-P7310MA
Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. Again I apologize if this is covered somewhere else I just haven't been able to find it.
Go to sammobile.com for the stock Rom. You'll have to register but it's free. You'll download a zip file. Use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file from it. Use that in Odin, PDA. Just have auto-reboot and f.reset checked. You'll be good to go. Use Odin 1.85

[Q] Odin Stuck on SetUp Connection

My Tab is second-hand, and was rooted when I bought it - Froyo 2.2. I am attempting to re-stock and flash a new ROM, since this one started acting crazy.
I'm using the Overcome Guide, but am worried I made a mistake with the modem selection. The Tab is from T-Mobile, but I don't have a SIM, and I think a new modem was flashed on the device: a JK5. I chose the T-Mobile modem .bin for the re-stock first flash, and now Odin seems stuck on the setup connection (for almost an hour now). I'm using Odin 1.85
What should I do next?
Thanks in advance from an utter n00b.

If its stuck at setup connection then there's not much you can do except close Odin and open it back up if it hasn't started flashing anything then you should be ok

If you are using Overcome Guide, you should be using Odin 1.7 that is included in GB-stock-safe-v5
Not sure about other people, but I don't get success using 1.85.
Besides, best to stick to what the guide says.
Working like a charm now
My USB drivers installed and re-installed and I realized that although the KIES was running on the Tab that didn't mean it was installed on the PC. Fixed that and now I've got the whole Overcome shebang up and running.
Thanks!
I don't even know there is a KIES in the tab.

There is. It was highly useful for making my home button work again after my Tab would do this weird semi-factory reset. The wireless would turn off, my home screen went back to stock, my apps would all be in alphabetical order, and the home key wouldn't work at all. It was fixable, but annoying and it kept happening (along with other wonky stuff), which finally caused me to flash the new ROM. And I'm highly grateful, I like this one so much better. It's like having a whole new device!

WiFi Dead? Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 [SOLVED]

What's good, chaps? This problem is currently on Overcome 4.1.0--beautiful ROM.
So what had happened was......
My Tab's WiFi worked perfectly, until yesterday (from the time of this post). Before this problem occurred, I had tried to flash a file I though would be useful for the Tab. The file sent my Tab into bootloops, and I scolded myself for not having made a nandroid.
I decided it'd be a good chance to try another ROM.
I eventually lighted on MIUI v4. I liked it for 5 minutes, then wanted to go back to Gingerbread (Overcome). I read that the MIUI ROM was an MTD ROM; I have no idea what that is, heh.
The only way to return to Gingerbread was to use Odin, so I did that. I followed every instruction on flashing the Overcome ROM to the letter. The installation went smoothly....until I found out my WiFI is broken. In fact, the baseband comes up as unknown--that never happened before. The Tab was getting a cellular signal, but that was it. I tried to reinstall the modem using Odin--no good. I tried using the fix from the Overcome Thread--no good.
I don't know what's wrong or what to do next.
If anyone can help me shed some light on this, it'd be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
I don't know why most people will try to fix their broken tab using overcome rom, find it broken but didn't tell how it was when it was merely on SG-stock-safe-v5
remember, Gb-stock-safe-v5 is Gingerbread from Samsung, JQ1 rom, in fact.
If it is broken at that stage, it is an entire different story than if it broke under Overcome ROM.
So which one is it?
Sorry for my late reply!
I found out it was broken when I reflashed the Overcome ROM. I never tried WiFI when I flashed GB-Stock-Safe-v5, so I can't tell you anything from there.
Did I do the right thing in using Odin, when downgrading from ICS 4.0.4 to GB 2.3.6?
No idea. But re-do the GB-stock-safe-v5 again and see how it goes.
If all good, add overcome kernel, see again how it goes.
if all good, flash overcome rom, and then see again.
Be methodical when you want to find your root cause.
Alright, I'll give it a go. Thanks for your help!
For the record, does downgrading from flashing a ROM with a different partition set-up have to be done a certain way?
just need a rom that has pit file and you tick the repartition in Odin.
That should take care of the downgrading from MTD rom
Followed your instructions and everything is back to normal!
Thanks again!

tried every thing. flash froyo, flashed ginger. flashed Overcome's. flashed other roms like Boca or Miui.
but nothing can bring back the wi-fi even tried overcome's wi-fi fix and wpa-supplicant with proper permissions bla bla bla...
the tab was working fine before and was on overcome's last rom. but suddenly if wi-fi switched on, tab started giving constant re-starts.
do you think it's a hardware issue now? i flashed 2.3.6 stock on which it doesn't give restarts but wi-fi keeps scanning and switching off by itself.
3G works fine no issues at all.
please someone tell me if there is any thing that i'm not trying.
Yours sounds like hardware issue.
