Dear all,
First, I'm from the Philippines and I purchased my Galaxy Note from a local appliance store here first week of December.
Checking the software version of the unit indicates the following: Android Version: 2.3.5, Baseband Version: N7000DXKJ3, Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-N7000DXKK1-CL706642, Build number: Gingerbread.DXKK1.
The software for the phone is stock, and basing on what I have read on the forums so far, upgrading it may lead to an improvement of the phone's battery life.
Question: As I am in the Philippines, is there a way to officially upgrade the software version via wi-fi (or OTA as I assume the term means "Over-The-Air"), OR is there even an available software update where I live, since every time I try doing so, I always get the "No Update Available" response from the server?
Thanks in advance for the help and advanced happy new year to all.
Bump, help please? Or a link to a previously discussed solution? Thanks.

Hi
I just bought Galaxy s
PDA:I9000XXJF3
PHONE:I9000XXJF3
CSC:I9000XENJF1
Is this good firmware ? or have there any better firmware ?
Please advise me I am a noob for Android
Thanks
Unfortunately you require the horrible Samsung Kies software (from their website) to update the phone firmware. Mine is updated to JM1 but it seems almost random as to which phones receive updates, my first UK based SGS updated, but the replacement from Portugal did not.
Hello, all,
About four of five days ago I upgraded by Tab's firmware via Kies. Now the 3G data connection is painfully slow. I connect via Wind in Italy. Here are some other details:
Firmware version: 2.2
Baseband version: P1000XXJMF
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
Build number: FROYO.XXJMG
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?
Should I consider changing it to an unofficial ROM or a Gingerbread ROM?
I hadn't connected to Kies for a long time because I didn't have too many problems I couldn't live with.
Thanks in advance!
And yes, I did search for this problem but couldn't find anything particular to my circumstances.

Wind is t-mobile frequencies. What modem (baseband) did you have before the upgrade?

Click to collapse
I don't know. I've never upgraded the firmware and bought this here in Italy when it first came out last October, if that tells you anything.
Settings > about > baseband.
What do you see?
Does the thing end in JPZ?
I have a Samsung 7” tablet that was purchased from T-Mobile. I have contacted both Samsung and T-Mobile to try to get an updated OS for this device, but can not get anything from either one. I get pushed off from one to the other saying it is up to the other to provide a software update. There are other users on T-Mobiles site that have the same issue and anything I could find out I will gladly pass on to help them also. There are some features on the new OS that I and others would like to have installed. Can someone please help! I use this device for my business on a daily basis and any help would be greatly appreciated. The device information is listed below.
Samsung 7” Galaxy Tab
Model: SGH-T849
Firmware: 2.2
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build Number: FROYO.UVJJB
Carrier: T-Mobile
Can someone let me know the following questions:
1. What is the most current OS that can be installed on my tablet?
2. Where can I find the software and directions to install it?
3. Is there any known issues that need to be addressed after the software is installed.
4. Is there a modem driver that needs to be installed in order for the data package to work?
Thank you for your time and look forward to a reply.

David,
As of now, the highest OFFICIAL TMobile USA firmware is 2.2 (Froyo). There have been other official firmware released for other regions that are 2.3.3 (Gingerbread). These are updates for the GT-P1000 (International Version) rather than for the T-849 (TMobile USA Version). They are in essence the same device as I understand it with support for different wireless bands (ie. different antennas; this would be taken care of by modem firmware which can be flashed independently).
There are numerous roms available if you have a rooted Tab. Obviously stay away from any that are built for Sprint or Verizon. Overcome makes a solid rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317384) but if you are going after the stock experience I would suggest http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1073854 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312329. Full instructions on how to download and install can be found on the linked pages. If you are using the Tab on the Tmobile network, I would always stick with the TMobile modem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069727).
Hope this helps.
Thank You,
I appreciate your response to a long drawn out issue I have been fighting with. I understand T-Mobiles firmware issues and at this point T-Mobile or Samsung are not going to release an update for this device. I have a few questions I would like to ask if you wouldn’t mind. I am new at this whole process and want to make a quality decision.
1. Is there any advantage or additional features added to the Overcome version of the OS verses the other two? I am looking for a straight forward installation without a lot of issues and some gained performance.
2. Is there any advantages of going with one of the other two stock ROMs?
3. Is Overcome ROM a newer version than the other two versions posted?
On another note I have a couple of questions you may be able to answer if you do not mind.
1. Is there any way of getting the layered applications feature from the Honeycomb OS on the Gingerbread OS?
2. Is there a browser that will allow for the websites to be displayed in Full or Desktop mode on the Gingerbread OS?
3. Do you know if there will be any builds coming out that this tablet may support? Such as Honeycomb or Ice Cream Sandwich? I know there are some hardware requirements that may need to be addressed.
Thank you again for your time and help!
Dear All,
I am the newbie and would really appreciate if I got some assistance. My story starts recently when I received an LG P990h that initially was working fine. Along the way,I downloaded LGsuiteIV desktop suite and upgraded the android version to 2.3.4 however since then its rather erratic in behavior as in the keyboard can go wild and start typing self or once you probably searching for something like a contact or any folder, the phone just goes ballistic and starts flashing windows, camera, pictures, etc and also the eventual hunging..
My phone details show this now;
Model number
LG-P990h
Android version
2.3.4
Baseband version
1035.21_20120327
Kernel version
2.6.32.9
Build number
GRJ23
LGE version
LGP990h-V20b
Any kind advice for this me,would be much appreciated.
Firstly, i'm really sorry for being such an ignoramus on the subject of this phone. I am actually an experienced IT 'professional' but for the life of me i can't find what looks like a reliable method for updating the firmware on my GT i9305 LTE handset... I bow to your knowledge of all things Android...
I am running version 4.1.1 and would very much like to upgrade to the latest 'stable' version of android. I am based in the UK and am on the EE network using a 4G contract.
Kernel Version 3.0.31
Build number JRO03C.I9305XXALI5
So far I have tried:
1) Going into the phone's Settings>About Device
- result - no "update" software option is shown
2). Downloading and installing Kies 3 and updating the firmware with the built in facility
-result - awful! the updater gets to 15% downloaded and then disappears. Though processes are still running...
3) Downloading Samsung GS3 Toolkit
- result - i have been too scared to go any further as i can't seem to find what looks like a good and reliable ROM for this phone (GT i9305 LTE) on EE...
Question - does it even matter which network i'm on as far as the ROM is concerned? What about the country as long as it's English?
If anyone can help me with this i would be most most grateful!
Charles
Use this, pre rooted E E rom.
