Bricked after/during bootloader unlock - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, i've tried to unlock bootloader using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
The first part (up to step 5c) ha gone really smoothly, without any complications.
However when i tried to connect phone to Flashtool all i got was "Device connected with USB debugging off". So then i decided to do the dumbest thing (now i know that) i could do: reboot my phone. Now it's not powering on, so I'm assuming it's bricked.
So my questions:
1. Is it bricked beyond all repair, and i cannot do anything about it, or perhaps there is still some hope left for me?
2. If it's bricked, will service be able to help me? And if yes then how much approximetly would they charge me for that (I'm assuming that my warranty is void because of my attempts)?

1. A cellphone technician with a JTAG/RIFF BOX tool can fix your phone, or the alternative is by replacing the motherboard of your device, you cannot fix at home, that is for sure not unless you have this devices and know how to use it.
2. As for the warranty, just play dumb and say that you dont know what happen to your device. Your warranty is safe as long as they didnt find out that you have mess up the bootlader, IDK much about this, but for me this work.
It happens that, x8 that has been manufactured in 11w26 to 11w37 is problematic and 11w38 beyond is surely bricked if tried to unlock the bootlader. The issue is, they have fixed the security loophole in the bootloader in the later releases. I have 11w44 x8 black that has been hard bricked a few days ago, and I just play dumb in the service center, and they didnt asked anything, it has been covered in the warranty, so free service.

There is nothing wrong with the procedures that has been provided by the guide, its just that there is something wrong with your phone, most probably youre x8's mfc is 11w38 or up, "remove your battery, then look for the e.g. 11w38 something like that in the back of your phone, 11 is year 38 is week that it has been manufactured."

By "no longer clear" you mean what?
You unlocked the boot loader and now the phone does NOT show any light, vibration or things on the screen anymore?
Simply try to describe the problem in a few words so we can get the idea.

Yes! I have exactly the same
The phone does not react.
The phone does not power.
In this case I'm very sorry to break it over to you, but this is a hard brick - especially if the manufacturing date of your phone is 11W29 or newer (11W30, 11W31, 11W32, ...) - take out the battery and look at the sticker below.
There's no way left by which you can "repair" the phone yourself. You need to either take the phone to a repair shop (if such a thing even exists in Iran) or send it in for repair.
From the hard bricks we observed around here the repair measure will be that the motherboard needs to be replaced past a working one.
Simply take a look in the X8 Q&A section and have a look at the "Warning ahead of unlocking bootloader" thread.

I honestly don't get what you mean, but the hard brick you now have in your hands was caused by two facts ...
1. The phone being manufactured 11W40 (way past 11W29 where the trouble starts) means that the chips used in your phone are of a newer revision which have the security hole the boot loader unlock tool uses closed. At the moment you unlock the boot loader you kill the phone.
2. You didn't do your homework in gathering info about the boot loader unlock procedure. While the guys maintaining the "How to unlock the boot loader" are ignorant to inserting the hard brick warning, a simple in-depth reading of the X8 related boards and posts would have spared you this fate.
The only way to get the phone back to work now is to, as written above, take it to a repair shop or to send it to Sony Ericsson.
Try charging the bettery ,full, then begin the whol process again

That was a good idea on your behalf (will give a thanks to you), though it seems the warning didn't stick or wasn't understood in full.
Well, seems to be a somewhat common issue that English seems to be too hard to learn.

[Q] Coma Brick or Hard Brick?

Hello Everyone,
Sorry if this is redundant but believe me I searched for hours but still not sure,
I got an X8 (e15i), I wanted to flash ICS, so I did the following:
1- rooted using x8toolbox.final (Success)
2- chose "Recovery" -> "Clock Work Mod Recovery" -> "nobodyAtall CWM 3.2.0.0r4" to install CWM (No errors, didn't try if cwm were really working)
3- Checked Production Date from IMEI code to make sure that it may be unlocked (Success)
4- chose to UnLock BootLoader in x8toolbox.final, it opened s1tool, I followed instructions (got semc simlock certificate)
then it did something and restarted the phone and opened s1tool again, so i powered off the device to hold "back" key and reconnect it, and the device never saw the light again!
it won't turn on by any means, no led no vibration no screen...
I suspected the battery so I charged the battery with an external charger, and no change...
We never have any SE service centers in Syria, so this is not an option, either I fix it or throw it away.

[Q] Factory reset without knowing pin?

So basically someone (I don't know who, I was drunk, I thought it was a joke but no one has come forward) has set a pin on my phone and I can no longer use the thing.
I just want to be able to make phone calls again.
Is there anyway to factory reset my Sony Xperia Z1f without knowing the pin? What are my options basically?
Thanks,
Alex.

I was hoping to be able to use it this weekend *sigh*
Do I need the receipt/box or something? I bought it from a small importing company who have told me I will need to mail the thing to Sony at my own expense as the nearest service center is a 10 hour drive.
So there is literally no way for me to unlock my phone short of how ever many weeks it takes Sony to mail it back to me?
It's like the shop where I bought mine, they said I got Manufacturer Warranty so I will have to send the phone to Sony, but actually when I call them they will do this for me. Go there and ask them or call them.
Factory Reset the device with PC Companion.
It doesn't ask for a PIN when I just tried now.. I needed to FR mine for the 4.3 update, so I tested it for you

Also, I tried following this guide...

But I can't access the service menu on my phone from the emergency dialer like many YouTube videos show.
Why might this be?
Pc companion is a program for your Pc where u connect your phone and you can do loads of things like reset update etc...is made by Sony so just do a lil Google search and download it... Or go on Sony website

But now after reading through these forums I think I would like to flash a custom ROM, however looking in the service menu my phone says that bootloader unlock is not allowed.
Is there someway to still unlock my bootloader and flash a custom rom?

No, if Unlock Bootloader Allowed say NO you can't unlock it, but you can flash custom roms with stock kernels and also root your phone. Unlock Bootlader is needed to flash custom kernels only.

There's no fix. You can try fastboot format cache and fastboot format userdata. If that doesn't work, there's no fix.

I wouldn't yet. Someone may eventually find a fix. But yes, you're going to need a new phone in the meantime.
Just a random thought; so what is covered by warranty? Say an internal connection was to get detached and the phone just won't power up, I think that would probably be something they may honor and replace the phone. I would not go back to the same place you tried to have it fixed, I would contact Motorola direct.
Again just a thought without thinking through all the scenarios nor with any thought of the morality of it.

The crap part would be if someone finds a fix after the phone is damaged. But, before you do anything, make the call.
I see many many threads regarding how to get free tethering, so I don't feel this is too out of place. Again, everyone has to work out for themselves whats right for them.

I'm thinking abt getting a n6. Can u elaborate a little more? Wouldn't "unlocked disabled" mean locked, so that phrase would mean the same as a locked bootloader which he did?

Since 5.1, you need "enable OEM unlock" set in settings to unlock the bootloader. If it is not set, you cannot unlock the bootloader. It only stays set until you boot up.
So some people update then immediately lock the bootloader. Then their phone won't boot so they cannot set "enable OEM unlock" so they're screwed.

So when I get my n6, I just need a laptop to root, and not to unlock boot loader? Since I can just go into settings and check "enable unlock bootloader?

You have to enable oem-unlock after every boot, it will not stick after a reboot.

No. The "enable OEM unlock" setting allows you to boot to the bootloader, connect to a pc and use the "fastboot oem unlock" command to unlock the bootloader.

Is this the same with aosp ROMs?
What happens if I forget to check it after a reboot? Like if my ROM does a random reboot and I don't know about it

I think we're confusing the issue. It doesn't need to stay ticked. All it stops you doing is unlocking the bootloader. Once the bootloader is unlocked, its unlocked.
The only reason you'll need to tick it is if you relocked the bootloader and then wanted to unlock it again. But this is dangerous because if your ROM breaks and you're locked, you cannot then unlock.

With OTA should be fine.. If something goes wrong during ota thats covered by warranty, but i was impatient to wait for it, so i did for my self over USB thats not covered by warranty like when u **** up something with root permissions.. This method is not the original updating method. but its a bit confusing because this was an official google suggested method (https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images) Terms of use, i accepted hurray!
"Send it in for repair mate, off course its fixable in a servicecenter but not by us consumers."
I did it and they cant repair it.. No way to access to that software part

Question Bricked OP 10 Pro - Help

Hello All,
I managed to brick my OP 10 Pro
It happened when I locked the bootloader before uninstalling Magisk.
I am now in a forever bootloop, see video:
Your browser is not able to display this video.
It will not boot into fastboot for love nor money.
There is no time for adb to load into fastboot as it is constantly resetting.
If I hold all three buttons when it is not connected to anything, it does nothing.
If I hold all three buttons while the phone is connected to the computer, it goes into EDL mode and Qualcomm drivers appear in the device manager, but it still fails to shows as 'adb devices' or 'fastboot devices'
I dont know what to do.
Help :-/

Is there anyone that had a look on Baido ?I tried everything under the sun.
I downloaded this from mega which has the full firmware files
https://mega.nz/folder/vMYSxBgI#LJXkyX-Ue9a4iFZPQmc80w
The closest I got was downloading the QFIL to flash it in EDL mode, but I couldnt get it to work...
I once took a bricked OP6 (hardly a month old) to service center. They fixed it, no questions asked.
I guess times are tough. GSMMAFIA steals OP software and sells it to you.

Considering there's a thred in this forum exactly for that...
The same thing happened to me on my NE2215...
Told OPO support it was the latest update that did it.. they are offering to repair it, still under warranty, for free.
from what I hear it can take 3weeks to 3 months to get it back.
Need a MSM tool
How I happened to me...
i wanted to get the latest OTA, so I removed Magisk, changes boo.img back to stock, reset the phone, and then when to turn flashing off (lock the bootloader)
on the rest step of Locking the bootloader back, is when it looped into this as well....
I know this isnt helpful right now, but NEVER re-lock your bootloader. I've seen far too many people brick their ****. Why unlock it to begin with? When you relock the bootloader, anything that's not signed will not boot. I hope you get your phone fixed. Good luck to you bud
can you please tell me your mobile after hard brick have a pc connection ? beacause my phone also bricked and totally terned off no button combination no charging no pc connection

Why did you try a super complicated route to update? There is no need to do reboot or lock your bootloader after restoring (not removing) magisk in order to do the ota update.

i bricked my op10p same way like you... i went to store where i bought it and they sent it to repair after that i got info that they switched motherboard from it

Best solution: throw your phone in trash, also boycott OppoPlus and don't buy from BugPlus anymore
F*ck OnePlus !!
Everyone listen to the google logo user. Oppo is hostile to rom developers and releases broken source code and restricts msm. They're just the apple of android products nowadays
