[Q] rooting the phone - LG Optimus Black

Hello.
I'm noob with this phone stuff,
I hope you guys can help me.
I have an LG p970. at first it was ok with all the apps that come with it, but now I just want to remove then.
I thinking about root the phone, but
I dont want to lose my warranty, cause my GPS is not working at all.
Is it safe to just root the phone? I mean, there are any risk of brick or something like this?
How can I unroot to send to warranty? Is it easy and safe?
thank you all.

Hey.
- nothing is riskless
- rooting makes losing warranty, but safe
- unrooting is possible but the safest way is to flash a firmware

[Q] Voiding warranty and how to get away with it

Hello,
I just got my first android phone, X8. I've read through sticky threads about upgrading and various other threads, and I'm just about to install GingerDX (Is that a good choice?).
But I haven't found anything warranty related on X8 forums, and while I did found some stuff on other boards, I'd really like to know specifically about X8.
Basically, I'd like to know if it's possible (and if it's needed) to revert to the currently installed android version to have my warranty honored in case of a non-OS related issue? I'm assuming it's done via xRecovery, but can they tell that something has been done with the OS, and is the process more difficult than upgrade itself? Also, will I be able to revert to the exact OS that was installed on the phone, or just a vanilla 2.1 installation?
P.S. I've seen many Croatia flags under people names on this board, so to those people - since I'm from Croatia : Have you had or heard about experiences related to this issue?
Thank you for reading,
P.
The warranti is void, as you root your phone. But there is SEUS for that. If the phone can flash himself the stock firmware to the phone, you can get your warranty. If not, then hope for that.
You can always flash a backup of your stock ROM via a recovery, and then you can unroot with SuperOneClick.
But If you´ve made other changes in the internal memory, like App2SD, better reflash the latest original 2.1 with SEUS/PCC/Flashtool
BTW:
Yes, GingerDX is a very good choice
Good to hear, that about answered all of my questions.
Thank you both!

[Q]Unrooting (the safest way)

I would like to know what is the safest way to unroot because I want to root my phone but I want to have the best chances in case I need to send my phone to warranty.
Can you please show me the best way to do that?
(sorry if this question has been asked before but I needed to be completely sure)
Best regards.
if you flash your original rom via smartflash or kdz update it will be unrooted.
Trolling in the deep
I am no expert, but I think there is no "safest" way. I recommend you know how to unbrick your phone if something goes wrong. Once your phone is rooted and you have a harware failure, there will be no way to unroot it or to flash it, so LG will know it has been rooted. Now, if they will care that you rooted the phone but sent it in because their battery started leaking: I don't know.
If there is a hardware failure, they wont know, that you rooted it. Cause then you probably wont get further, as to the LG screen. They wont be able to boot any further, except he is unable to unbrick it... Otherwise, if you flash the stock ROM and do a factory reset, they will never know
Thank you all for the help you gave me.
You forgot to push the THANKS button for everyone who helped
It's just a little button for you, but motivation for all who help, to keep on helping
I did not notice it until now

NOOB question about ROOT

Hi, this is noob question about root, its my first android phone and i wonder if root is necessary in my case
as former owner of iphone, i had to jailbreak my phone since apple system is very restricted
Android is more open-minded
i dont want to brick and dont want to spend much time if anything goes wrong
ROOT is it safe? what is its purpose?
Sony has made great stock rom, light and reactive, now with the latest firmware, we got better screen calibration, black navbar...
should i switch to the root or not?
thanks you
It really depends what you want from rooting. Ask yourself, what do you want to mod? Want stock rom? See anything you like from this
Rooting is safe, not unless youre doing it wrong without reading the instructions thoroughly.
Root: granting the users access to system files.
Here is a list of terms you may find helpful.
thanks but i am willing to root my phone but what if anything goes wrong
any backup before installing MODS?

When I first rooted my Android phone I was the same, why do I want to do this? I kept asking myself. Simple answer I just wanted to explore and get more understanding off what was in my pocket.
Have you unlocked your bootloader? Can it be unlocked? There is a really good site where there are step by step instructions on how to unlock it, it uses fastboot (to my knowledge - sometime since I done one).
Don't want to spend too much time if it goes wrong -- well how longs a piece of string? It will go wrong if you haven't read the proper tutorials don't go in blind, there are backup facilities available to you just find the one thats best suited for what you're doing.
Enjoy
what should i do before rooting like backup?
is that easy to root phone?
Backing up is really for after rooting as you may try various mods or other roms. You can then back up with twrp/cm. Give rooting a go....

[Q] Root while on AT&T Next?

So I ordered this phone yesterday and I want to try some custom roms on it but I don't know if rooting while on Next would be a safe idea. I'm positive i can root and flash a rom with no problems but if i wanna switch phones in 18 months will I still be able to?
If it just needs to be the way they shipped it, will flashing a stock rom and un-rooting do the trick?
Thank you all in advance, and keep up the great work. Happy rooting. :highfive:
I would assume you would be in the clear as long as you dont trip the Knox counter. It would be a safe bet to un-root it and such when you take it back in to trade for a new phone.

[Q] How do I safely root and use Xposed? Also, best way of recovery?

Hi there! I've been using HTC Desire 500 for almost two years, and I've decided to root it, but I want to do it the safest way possible. Also, I'd like to know, in case it gets bricked, how can I reinstall the Android on it through PC.
I've heard of the OneClickRoot way, is it safe? Has anyone tested it yet? I'd want to test it, but I am just scared of loosing my phone (hard bricking it). On TF101 I did hard brick it once and I had no recovery, but for that tablet there is a special application (EasyFlasher) which I used to bring it back to life, so now it's all good. Is there any software similar to it? And is the latest version of Xposed safe or install or there's a special version I should use?
Thank you!
