Just got a new 2x off ebay and gets delivered soon but from reading on here it seems it riddled with issues. Does anyone actually like their phone?

Its a good phone considering its value. You just need to use custom roms to make it better.
The original shipping ROM was horriffic, which is why the phone is so cheap now. The official GB update is much better, as are custom ROMs.
its just a honest phone somewhat cheap for its functions. but has it cronical problems. if you are familiar with android modding the phone shows up as a awesome option!
Mod the phone and you will be 10x happier.
Currently I'm using Galnet MIUI with swiftextreme 1.5GHz kernel running at 1.2GHz for the most part and I couldn't be happier. Also I'm using the Suave HD theme

Optimus 2x is awesome hardware wise for its price..The stock software sucks a bit but if you willing to play a bit and follow some guides in this site you can be really happy!

Hello Everybody
I got an offer for LG Optimus in ebay for a good price.
The offer was well worth when comparing to it's specification.
But, i was searching about the mobile phone in internet to find out any major problems.
And i came across following issues.
Would lose network connectivity frequently for no apparent reasons
constant "Force Closure" messages.
Unstable Gingerbread update process.
On-screen keyboard frozen up occasionally
I heard that if we use LG Updater software, then there is no issues in upgrading to Gingerbread.
And i heard that Gingerbread update completely fixes the phone lockup and reboot problems, is it true ?
There is no GB update out yet....
Most of problems on this device are baseband related, and after 3 baseband update, its still not that good...

It's safe if you're willing to mould it into what you want.
If you want to use it as LG provide it, it's not so good.
Root. And flash a stable rom. Then its verry safe.
The downside is that when u drop it, the screen cracks really fast. The + side is that it is not that difficult to replace the gorilla glass by yourself. There is a nice vid of it on youtube.

Android Gingerbread update has been released for T-Mobile G2X http://www.phonearena.com/news/Gingerbread-update-for-the-T-Mobile-G2x-goes-live_id20543
Isn't T-Mobile G2X and LG Optimus 2X same ?
They're the same in North America, but not the rest of the world.
So, if i buy LG P999, Then is that T-Mobile version?
If so, if i install Gingerbread firmware in T-Mobile version of LG Optimus 2X, then would the major problems be rectified?
P999 is the T-Mobile G2X or the Wind Optimus 2X, the update should indeed help with some things, check out the G2X forum for info.
Had the Optimus 2x by one month and i tell you that i am very satisfied of him. I have a stock room with all the latest updates and i don't have problems of reset or keyboard. IF you don't use it much you can get more then 2 days of battery.
In Europe the T-mobile G2x is not the same with the lg optimus 2x. You probably broke your phone if you update it with the firmware of G2x

What are the baseband related issues and what are the consequence?

im now running FR19 fearkill edition 12.4 with the neoblaze OC kernel.. (smooth as butter)
the DJ droid seems to be a stable rom aswell
(the good thing about this phone is that there are plenty of roms to choose from,
i recommend the fearkill roms. eventually i always got back to them. (never hade anny trouble with them)
Does these Roms preserve LG customizations?
fearkill deleted a couple of them but u can add them. there is a link in his topic where u can download all the lg software and add them to the rom
Golden question - did GB on the G2X fix most issues?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk
Go ask in the G2X forum?
I think its a good choice, even on stock rom i had no problems butnon CM and Miui i did abit of baseband swapping to find the bestbin for them and everything is fine upgrading basebands has given me better signal..ect

For me O2x is a lol choice.

Baseband issues :
- calls quality are really bad (for me)
- lags appears when you install apps : the device becomes totally unusable (im wondering if there is a rom that fix this issue)
- wifi error durring connection establisment/ hspa drops connectivity with NO reason.
- Audio playback may lag quite randomly (probably due to stock rom)
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
The app install lag is gone in CM, and possibly MoDaCo ROMs.

sdk is not source code
SDK = Software Development Kit, not the Source Code !
This is tool for software developers that are making apps/gamez for ICS.
i know..but devs try to make it work on SE x10
and when i got zte blade, on modaco the devs ported 2.3 from sdk
Bless, we've been stuck waiting for 2.3 for nearly half year, with no visible signs when is that gonna happen. Probably ICS in two years time.
On the matter as started above S SDK is not source code.

i know sdk is not source code..but others can do a bootable rom from it... see x10
or zte honeycomb on android modaco...
its all from sdk...maybe with cm7 libs and kernel and so on
Don't count on it. I guess our best bet is Cyanogen. I don't think LG will do it.
It might just be me, but unless apps start requiring ICS there's no real benefit to it. It doesn't seem to do that much that can't be achieved otherwise. I actually just switched from a Gingerbread phone to a 2.2 OB and I don't miss anything. Reading about 4.0 doesn't give me the impression that existing phones will be so much better with it.
It would obviously be nice to have ICS and I would definitely flash an ICS rom to my OB.

The IceCreamSandwhich GPU Acceleration of the UI is a real benefit.
i heard that Cyanogen is doing CM8 based on ICS. I think OB is getting one too....hope so....

I do hope you are corect.
CM7 is nearly done by the look of it. So CM8 would be nice indeed.

Does Optimus Black have enough internal storage for ICS? I mean Nexus S has 16gb Free while Optimus Black has only 1GB free.

It matters not. The software itself wont eat much. That 16gb internal is for smoother operation. System not reading an SD Card which would be slow. That's why they gave it a large internal memory as possible.

Yup. Phone 's hardware is no problem. We have a decent processor and RAM and ROM space. So ice cream sandwich is surely to run on optimus black. Unlike other phones such as Sony, s new devic es xperia mini and pro and neo etc which have just 320mb internal memory.
Although since LG will take too many time to update we will surely need some developer 's support S soon as possible.
Don't care i'm expecting miui ice cream

I don't think OB will be updated to ICS because were not even Gingerbread yet. But my hope is with Marquee because it's currently 2.3 so next update is certainly ICS then just port to our OB.
Similar to what happend to my old Samsung i780 where only its twin brother EPIX got updated to the latest version thankfully some good guys here at XDA ported it.
Hi all
As my o2x was preordered it had loads of random reboots every day. I have tried several custom roms with different results. Now I wants your opinion for rom of choise(with evt extra tweaks) for making the o2x most stable w/o oc/uv??
Thanks from SuperSkill

Hey
Well, at first I want to wish you a happy new year.
I think you should try a CM 7.2 KANG with IronKernel because in my opinion this combination will make your phone very stable and it will also perform very well.

Yeah, I don't really know about the camera quality of CM because I haven't compared it with the other roms, but I don't use the camera very often so I don't really care about whether the quality is less than in other roms.

Happy new years!!
I've found that the weapon g2x 3.0_r1 rom is really stable I havny run into any bugs or random reboots. I've been running weapon g2x (various versions) since I got my phone 4 months ago and I'm more and more impressed every day.
Making bad decision's one at a time.
I'm on preorder o2x and I'm on CM7.2 bb824. Haven't had a random reboot/blackscreen in 2 weeks. And I had a lot of those in the beginning.

Hi! A friend of mine offers his nexus one + money for my OB, and, seriously, I dont know what to do, 'cause hardware in OB is way superior but there are so many cool roms for nexus one...
What is your opinion?
Thanks in advance :highfive:
the nexus. it's a google phone thus it has exclusive updates (see jb) and there is a bigger community developing for it.
But on the otherhand try to find out why he is opting for the OB
And if you play games, keep it unless the nexus becomes faster using custom roms
Anyways you see
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
I think the looks of the OB are awesome, so is the screen. The nexus one only is better for the software development...dunno, its hard to decide. The point is that I dont play games, so the gpu is not a deciding factor, but the smoothness of the ui and the different android versions, sense ui...

Keep your ob
Skickat från min LG-P970 via Tapatalk 2
Yup...waut for others to reply
If you dont care about software tweaking...go ob
And by tweaking, flashing nearly everyday, the phone is not used for its purpose
We do that for performance and theme mostly...id say stick to ob
Use it as it should have been.
.email, calender, facebook etc
Tweaks will come sooner or later
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
Thanks 4 your opinion! Well, I think I'm finally stickin' with the OB, lets trust in the great developers we have in xda!
nexus One = small screen, Pentile, bad camera, etc
nexus= lots of custom roms
Even with the advantage of a bigger comunity, I think that the Nexus One is a little too old.
I tried the Optimus Thrust and Gueste cm7 and cm7 but I am Not satisfied at all! Which one is the best Rom for this phone? Are there any smooth roms with good battery life and short charging time? Im now on old bl but I can simply Update it so no matter about that.

1. Best rom threads aren't allowed here
2. But to answer your question, there is never one ideal rom. It's a personal preference. What I'd suggest is, look at the few popular roms, like one each on ics, cm10, cm10.1 which are trending currently on the forum(browse in the development section to know more, but don't ask in those threads "is this rom best or better than that other rom" etc.) , and give those a try one by one. Settle on your favorite one among those.
Most out here would agree that there is no best, there is a user's personal favorite. Henceforth, a request and an appeal to other new users to not create a similar thread and use this as a reference.
Regards

I personally think that stock gingerbread is the best one, i know it looks like awful due to LG UI Skins but, my back to life O2x is running like a fresh phone now. CM7 as you mentioned is very good at performance but not at battery life, after my O2x bricked when i was trying to install stock ICS, i was using Nova HD and it is pretty awesome, but i think they stopped the development. If you have any question, you can ask me, i will be glad to help you!:victory:

As was explained above, the 'best threads' aren't allowed, one reason, it's avoid discussions since every person has a different opinion based on usage, installed apps, installed mods, etc.
I'll close this to avoid more related posts...
