Hi all,
First of all, excuse me in advance if this matter has been discussed anywhere else in this forum but a quick resort to the search function didn't give me any relevant result.
I noticed that my phone has problems capturing sound with its microphone: I have no problems using it for normal voice calls - I mean when I keep it next to the hear with my hand - but people start complaining the exact moment I switch to speaker call: voice feedback and low volume are the most reported problems by the other end. I believe this problem share the same nature with the low sound in video recording, as all my clips show non-intelligible voices or sounds in general.
Now, I wonder: is my device defective or maybe I'm facing a software problem? I'm using CM7 (temasek Kang build 22) with 218 BB and RIL and I sincerely forgot what video recording was like when I was on stock. I'm pretty sure speaker calls have always been difficult, though.
Thank you and happy new year!
I have the same, when I switch to speaker, the other side has trouble with quality of the call, they dont hear me very good. With older phones I didnt face this problem. I have 725BB and RIL (20l)
guys.. download and install GetRIL from the market and get a matching RIL
i am on CM7 temasek build 23 on 725BB and until i got 725 V10d RIL (i had a non-matching RIL coming from stock 2.3.4) my 2x would go into airplane mode randomly and I couldn't get out of it unless i rebooted.. be that as it may i didn't thoroughly test the video and call quality back then
however now with the matching RIL, speakerphone and video audio is fine
Months ago I kind of gave up on this one...
Let's say you record a video of your mate talking 2 meters away, can you hear him well on the video? I can't even if I have otherwise a well working 420 bb/ril combination with temasek's CM7.
One way to solve this would be a mic gain option (like in ASR voice recorder) in the camcorder but haven't found any apps supporting it.
Let me know if you have any ideas.

Hi
Have been using Resco Audio recorder and Vito Audio Notes to record phone conversation but in both the softwares i could only here my voice clearly and the other persons voice is not audible at all. I have faced this problem on ALL HTC DEVICES but the same software worked amazing on XDA Xing and ATOM. cam someone help me here as to what settings to change or what software to use for proper recording.
Thanks
all of these programs will record if the phone is on speaker.
read the documentations, as some phone do not provide duplex conversations, or something like that.
once you set the call on speaker, all works fine, but it's kind of inconvenient.
yea if i remember correctly, it has something to do with the way that the voice calling was implemented in the device that it will only record your voice.
straight from resco.net from the audio recorder page:
(Both sides recording is hardware dependent. If your recording contains voice of one side only, it is not due to the program's failure.)
On my old PPC6700 mine worked fine with the call volume all the way high, The other person sounded a bit low, but if you want you can edit the call on a PC and make them louder. It all depends how often do you plan to record your convos.
I'm recording both sides without speaker or any other hazzle...
This is what I've done:

Do you really intend to unbury every 1+ year old topic on that subject? I think people got it by now. Make ONE thread with full relevant info, that will do it.
I was just wondering if anyone else was having problems with a bluetooth headset using Cyanogenmod 10.1? The call quality while using the handset is great, but when I use my bluetooth (Jawbone Era, Motorola Sliver Elite) the call quality is absolutely terrible, the person can't even hear what I'm saying.
I say Cyanogenmod because that's my favorite rom, but it also happens on AOKP, PAC, ParanoidAndroid, and pretty much every other Vanilla type Rom.
Any help or suggestions?
The same problem with Jawbone Era. All works fine in Samsung stock 4.1.2 ROM.
Yep. I have this problem, too.
Bummer, as I'm writing a Bluetooth headphone round-up for a magazine this month, and I can't review call quality without borrowing a friend's phone.
Known Issue
Hey guys the bluetooth isssue your speaking of is a VERY well known issue in CM its one of the few bugs that is still being ironed out. Its also present in basically every other aosp type rom because they are all based on CM. The awesome cyanogen devs are working on it constantly and im sure they will get it figured out :good:
So if you here any reference of an "upstream" issue in a ROM thread its most likely referring to it being an issue in CM and therefore the ROM in question. :good:
Bluetooth car connections drops and really bad audio quality when on call.

Hi everyone, I have used PARANOIDANDROID in the past for Samsung Note and had a great experience using it. Just installed the PARANOIDANDROID on my new HTC one.
I am having two issues that are forcing me to go back to a stock rom,.
1st) Bluetooth connection with car, when calling the audio quality is really bad. The person on the other end cannot understand what I am saying.
2nd) when on a call with a headphone /w mic and connected to my Mac, the mass storage keeps going on and off. This affects the audio quality of the phone call.
All other issues that have been reported here I am OK to way for, but the BlueTooth issue forced me to look for a stock ROM for now.
I hope the great the people working on these Rom ( Paranoidandroid and Cyanogenmod ) can fix these issues quickly.
no bluetooth for voip apps
I've tested CM on note I and II, the same issue shows up, I cannot use bluetooth with voip apps. Same goes for 10.2. Too bad
Just acquired one of these phones today and seem to be having a slightly strange issue and hoping someone might know the resolution.
When on a call, the other person cannot hear me at all (they can hear nothing as-if the microphone is muted, it's not!), however if I switch to speakerphone they can hear me fine.
This is happening on any ROM, except unofficial CM10.1 where the microphone does not work at all.
In external apps the mic does not work either (so if I record a video, I get no sound).
I'm having trouble seeing this as a mic hardware issue as it works OK on speakerphone, any ideas on this?
Cheers!

Does this happen on stock rom as well?
Yeah I've put it back to the Samsung firmware (Carphone Warehouse UK, 2.3.6) and still doing the same thing.
Interestingly, on stock-based ROMs the Mic works on speakerphone (Still nothing anywhere else), but on CM-based or ported ROMs, the mic does not work at all!
Just to confirm, the Galaxy Mini does have just a single mic right? Haha!
It is a fine piece of work that is done with Vivokat 4.4.2. As far as I can see, everything works as it should, except for the sound recording and Cast screen. If I choose Sound Recorder, and start recording, the phone locks up. The only way of getting out of it is to remove the battery. The only reason that I rooted and upgraded my phone was for making screen mirroring to my TV so it's a little boring that precise this feature does not work. Koushik Dutta from Cyanogen Inc. now has a beta version of Mirror which can be installed on a rooted 4.4.2. I have this app installed, and the program can see both my Apple TV ( v3) box and Airserver on my computer. However nothing happens when I select them. It tries to connect for approx. 7 seconds, and then nothing else happens. I can stream Flipps movies to both Apple TV and Airserver, so I have a suspicion that it might be Koushik Dutta's app is not working with HTC Incredible S. It's a beta version, so the possibility exists. It may also be that this HTC model, just can't do screen mirroring, regardless of which apps you use.
Does anyone have experience with screen mirroring from a HTC Incredible S?

I just found out a fatal error. The microphone does not work, so I can't use voice recorder and what is worse, those who call me can not hear what I say.
It seems that I need to find another ROM where the microphone is working Does anyone have a good idea in this context?
Vivokat Stable #3 (the previous build) worked perfectly in regards to the built-in microphone and phone calls (but has intermittent wifi issues), so if you just want audio to work, you can use that. szeszo put out an updated kernel for those on stable #4 to test out (which should fix the mic issue), but judging by the replies here on the forum, it looks like it doesn't seem to work for everyone.

Note!
I attach a Catlog file. Maby somebody can investegate this file and maby see whats the problem
All of a sudden, my microphone does not work in a call. Regardless of if I originate the call or answer a call, the other party can not hear me. Works fine through speaker phone or Bluetooth. I've searched as much as I can online for a fix, but no results. So far I have done the following:
-Installed a third party phone app
-Tried safe mode
-Tried to repair in the Xperia Companion app on my PC (actually made things worse - couldn't make or receive calls)
-Full restore to factory defaults (fixed the call issues, but not the mic issue)
The tests in the support app fails to hear a frequency change.
Since the microphone works in speak phone, I assume this is still a software issue and not a hardware issue (unless the speakerphone uses a different mic).
I'm stuck and could use some advice.
Thanks
I have the same problem for several months
I have the impression that I had this problem since I put underwater
the only solution I found is to put in loudspeaker or use headphones
