I upgraded my Vibrant to Onecosmic's ICS for Galaxy S, and it runs extremely well, however, my headphones are no longer recognized when they are plugged in. Even when headphones are plugged in, music plays through the external speaker. In addition, sounds are also played through the external speaker. I have tried clearing user data/cache/dalvik, but no success. I even tried flashing TeamHacksung's ICS ROM and it didn't recognize the headphones either. I tried with two different sets, one full sized and one set of earbuds. Before ICS the headphones were recognized with no issue, so I'm fairly sure its not a hardware problem. Is this a known issue with ICS or is this just me? I searched through a few pages on Onecosmic's post and found no mention, although it could be in there with the 500+ pages...
Also, as a side issue, the volume rocker buttons seem to have been reversed, with the "up" button turning the volume down, and vice-versa. It not only occurs in Android, but also in CWM. Anyone else experiencing this? Again, this was not noticed before ICS.
For reference, my previous ROM was CM7.
For me too

I have been using TeamHacksung's ICS ROM build 12
But dont have any such problem...
everything is working fab..
Same here it doesn't work on my SGS "team ICSSGS RC3.1".
I able to listen to songs but headset controls are not working.
For voice calls the volume is very feeble.
Searched all over the ICSSGS thread but no luck.
Any help/fix would be appreciated.

I have ICS from team Hacksung on my Fascinate. I get the sound through my headset but have no control of audio from headsets. Mic does not work either. Any idea?

Having a weird issue with my Samsung Captivate and I'm seeking the advice of those smarter than myslef . Lately my mic has stopped responding while listening to music. The strange thing is that it still pauses the music but it doesn't pick up any calls. I've tried several music players (even the default) with the same result. I didn't always have this problem. I'm currently running cog 2.2 beta 9, I did a master clear and flashed back to stock but that didn't fix the issue either.
Is it possible my captivate is defective or is something that can be fixed via software. I've also tried multiple headsets.
What was your final outcome? I had a similar problem (no mic OR pause). Tried many things and am now resorting to replacing the unit (warranty). My post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112729&highlight=mic

Up until this point, I haven't had any issues with my phone, sound or otherwise.
Once I upgraded to Darky's 9.1, I could no longer hear my "touch" acknowledgments or media sounds.. I.E. Youtube videos have no sound at all.. UNLESS, I plug in headphones.. Then for some reason all of the sounds want to work.. through the phone speaker. Odd right?
No other roms seem to give me issues, and even going down to 8.X solves this.. I'm assuming it has to do with something in Darky's (Obviously..) and, more than likely Voodoo. Is anyone else having any problems like this? Should I maybe try to disable Voodoo and see what happens?
Basic Rundown..
Ringtones play, notifications go off, yet, when I try to watch videos or stream ringtones through ringtone apps, I have no audio, UNLESS I plug in headphones; However that makes the sound come out of the headphones + phone speaker.
Stuck.
Anybody?

I had this issue, although my Captivate had sound working for a short time, but while selecting a ringtone or notification tone it cut out. A reboot fixed it once, after that it still won't work. I noticed that the sound DID work the volume was super low. I had to hold the speaker directly on my ear to hear anything. I've just done a master clear, and Odin 1-Click, reflashed 9.3 and I'm about to do the CWM "part 2" again. This time I'm going to try a different kernel. I'll let you know if it works. If not, I'll have to jump to a different ROM. I was using Speedmod selected from Darky's ROM Manager if that makes any difference.
Ditto. Just flashed Darky's 10.1 and I'm having the exact same issues minus the headphones (which I have yet to test out).
when it comes to speaker sound darky rom sucks big time till date.rest of it rocks like a rockstar.
So I have been trying many of the latest Gingerbread roms as I had been with Froyo and Eclair. Recently, I went from Cog5v1 over to a CM7/MIUI rom and noticed that the headphone icon was always in the notification bar and I had no sound from the speakers. The internal speaker seemed to work properly, as I could hear ringtones, notifications, volume rocker, etc...but no system sounds, music and such. Also, when I receive a call, i cannot hear anything until i hit the spekerphone button and then the speaker works. Additionally, while on MIUI, I switched kernals and the problem inverted, meaning the speaker worked as it should but I had no headphone response at all. Since this problem occurred, I have flashed back to stock, master cleared, flashed froyo, flashed stock GB, and many others always flashing to stock in between. Now with every rom I flash I have the constant "headphone on" problem. Others have suggested hardware, but the speaker does work (speakerphone and when I change kernals and invert the problem), so im thinking it is more likely software, firmware, or bootloader related.
Has anyone experienced something like this before or could suggest something to try to fix the problem? I use headphones for music and audiobooks everyday, but if the phone cannot handle regular phonecalls, its pretty much useless to me.
First, Bootloaders and firmware ARE software listing them separately is just redundant.
just because the speaker works does not mean it's not hardware related. Sounds like an issue in the headphone jack. Try and spray it out with some air duster perhaps?

do u hav a kid at home..who keeps licking the phone...???
coz this happens when there is moisture inside the stereo jack socket.and phone thinks that headphones r connected....so just dry it with hair drier(keep it lil far and see its not too hot...or clean it..
hopefully taht will solve the problem..
Well... after I play music on the cappy in speaker and after 2 or 3 songs it stops working... recently flashed CM 7,1 stable... tough it was the kernel so moved to glitch and it still happens... In handsfree or connected to earphones it works normally so it's kinda weird....
I want to know if some1 else have experienced this... it fixes waiting 30 or 40 mins or rebooting.. so i dun have a mere idea of what's happening. Tnx in advance if some1 can help..
What bootloaders are you on

I went back to stock eclair before flashing CM.... so i guess eclair bootloaders..
I am having similar issues. However, no cwm or Odin flash has yet to fix it.
Funny.. My wife's Cappy did that a while back. speaker just totally quit on EVERYTHING. it was running stock then with ZERO MODS. to fix, pushing on the speaker solved it. Like the connection contacts were makeing good connection for it.
I'm pretty sure that this is a physical problem unrelated to any ROM. You should try opening the back and pushing down on the speaker unit so that it makes better contact. I had similar problem and this did the trick for me. There was another thread where someone suggested using padded tape to keep pressure on the speaker unit, but so far that hasn't been necessary for me.
For physical problem, do what ^^ he said
When I was CM7.1 i was having same problem with my cappy, the quality of sound was horrible everywhere...on speaker, earphone and if streamed to external speaker...someone sugggested to use DSP manager settings, but i didnt do it and moved to another rom..
Hello I have cm10 with devil kernel amd installed voodoosound and volume blast as when suddenly all the apps got quiet. No sound st all. Turned out that either of the programs has switched my headphone/speaker recognition. When headphones are plugged in the phone is playing, when theheadphones are out , voodoosound turns on and you can turn the volume up and down wothout hearing any noise (as if it had headphones plugged in) any ideas how to solve this problem?
You must have the devil kernel for the i9000. Your screen rotation might be messed up also. You need to flash a kernel for the captivate, like devil.
