[Q] Dying battery? - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

I bought my stone in April 2010. Since about 3 weeks ago, my phone have been suffering from sudden battery level drops.
When the phone is being discharged, the battery level drops from about 78% to 63% suddenly. Then when the battery level reaches about 45%, it once again drops to 19% suddenly.
When being charged, the battery level leaps from about 19% to 62%, then jump to around 78% and starting increase incrementally until 100%.
The whole charging procedure only takes about half an hour. Does this indicate that the battery is dying?

Sounds right about it.

You should just buy a new battery. I bought mine for literally around $2-$3 from amazon.com. I just got my new battery in today, and it's working pretty well!

could be a rom problem.. try a different rom. if the problem stays, time to buy a new battery

it seemed that i once experenced the same situation u've just had.
i recommand u to flash a different rom before u purchase a new battery.

I have the same problem. i would suggest a battery replacement.

HTC 2150 Battery

This thing is amazing! Last night I finally let my phone just die and charge fully. This morning I unplugged it and started using it. I actually thought it wasn't reading the battery stats correctly because it was stuck on 100%. So i started using the GPS, Bluetooth etc... Finally after 3:45 up time and 1 hour awake I dropped from 100% to 99%. I am now at 4:15 up time and 1 :15 awake and at 95% and have been listening to a podcast for the past 20 minutes.
SOOOOO much better than the stock battery.
BTW - running Skyraider 3.1 RC3 with Kingx #4 kernel. Set CPU set to 998 max and screen off to 245-384.
the first time i used it i had 90 hours up time and 17 awake. This thing is crazy!
This battery sounds incredible

Seidio recommends 12hrs of charging? i only sleep for 5 hrs each night.
I just recieved my battery from Verizon yesterday. Dumb Fedex didnt leave the note on the door so i had to wait an extra three days. Anyway i charged last night bump charged this morning which took 1.5hrs WOW. One phone call and I'm down to 99% already. I will let the battery get down to 5% then recharge and bump charge i will do this two times and see what kinda battery life i get. For the size difference it better be really good. It definetly took away the slim line look. But as much as i use my phone i hate being constantly hooked to a charger.

After about 2 weeks of letting it die/recharging, it now doesn't even need bump charging if I just leave your phone off to charge the whole time. And mine used to drop really fast the first time but it has stopped doing that now. Goodluck

Wow that 3150 one is huge!!!
Though seeing the price difference is practically the same on Amazon I'm thinking about getting the 3150
I bought this OE HTC 1500mAh battery for $17.99 shipped. Brand new, can't beat it.

does this battery need an extended door? I bought the seido case, I hope it works with this battery
Nope. It is fine

You can get used to the extra bulk quickly. I love this extended battery. I can use as much as I want during the day and charge at night.
I received this battery yesterday. I put it in my Incredible and it said there was like %40 of charge. I then turned my phone off and charged it for like an hour or so. I turned the phone on and saw it charged to about 97%. I sat there and watched the battery drain super fast. I mean, 1 minute it would go down like 1-3 %. I was like WTF?? I'm running CM6 and setCPU. Do you all think I need a new kernel? I was going to try a different ROM, but this battery shouldn't be draining this fast should it?
What are the proper step the charging a new battery? Does it really have to be charged for 8-12hrs? If so, I can buy a external charger and let it sit overnight.
Any thoughts?
Dude, it does that quick few % drainage no matter what you're running.
wow is all i have to say, i just got the 2150mAh, with the original battery normally i unplug @ 8am and dead by 4ish pm, it is now 1030pm i have 37% and ive been using my phone a fair amount today, this battery is amazing

Mugen powerbattery 1800mah for legend full review

Hei,
Ever since i saw this thread, I was considering a better battery for my legend.
To begin with the stock battery (Standard HTC battery) that came with the phone.
1. It used to last me for 2 hrs 10mins of voice call
2. If GPS was on it takes about 25mins to fully drain from about 95%
3. between 80to40% whenever screen was switched on, phone used to heat up.
4. At times (lately) even when the phone was in stand by in my pocket, it used to heat up so badly, i had to refrain from keeping the phone in my pocket. It actually felt like a "hotpack" in my pocket.
Phone is just perfect except for the retarded battery that comes with it. Whats the use an awesome phone if it you cant go through a day of light to moderate usage without requiring a charge?
So i decided to try out the mugen power batter. I love my legend, so even though battery was a bit pricey about INR.2,153.00 (USD46.95) (after shipping). I ordered a mugen battery 1800mah from their official website on 8th Nov. They took about 14 days to ship it to India from Hongkong (3 days waiting as batteries were out of stock).
Received it a week back. and currently i am running the 4th recharge cycle.
Immediately installed the battery on receiving it. (Couldn't wait!!)
The battery came with instructions to fully charge the battery (even after its fully charged as indicated by the green LED on phone) for 10-12 hrs for each cycle and nearly drain the battery before charging it again. (I took it to 5% each time, charged for a minimum of 11 hrs)
The fit
I was dead scared seeing the comments in this thread. But the battery was a perfect fit, infact the same fit as the stock battery. It would directly slide out without any poking / fingering
Tip - There is a small red plastic stick in the battery compartment to assist in battery removal. I dont have to use it though
The following are the actual statistics i have written down after each cycle. (Help me post a screen shot pls)
Recharge cycle 1
1st charge for 12hrs continuoesly
Voice calls 29% - 45min 44 sec
wifi 30% - 7 hrs 22min
Display 27% - 2hrs 12min (full brightness for 1hr)
Mpas 8% - GPS -23min, data 10mb
cell standby 4% - 7hrs 22min
phone idle - 2% - 5hrs 12mins
Total 7hrs 22mins from 100% to 6%.
Dint record the 2nd cycle, but was difficult to drain the battery in the next 13 hrs, had to switch on GPS + music on for 30mins on speakers + torch app with about 80% brightness for 1 hr to drain it before 11pm the next day.
I wanted to charge battery for atleast 10 hrs before leaving for office
Recharge cycle 3 Unbelievable!!!
3rd charge for 11hrs
Voice calls 12% - 1 hr 15min 12 sec
wifi + bluetooth 44% - 37 hrs 12min (dint turnoff bluetooth/wifi) transferred about 153mb in this cycle
Display 17% - 3hrs 12min (played angry birds for 1hr!!)
Mpas 13% - GPS -14 hrs 12min, data 43mb
cell standby 9% - 7hrs 22min
phone idle - 5% - 5hrs 12mins
Total 37hrs 31mins from 100% to 4%.
As you could see there was a drastic increase in battery performance after the 3rd recharge.
------------
Note - I am using juice defender (free version) + the phone is on strictly GSM only mode. (Exhausted my monthly data quota on 3g )
Currently I am charging it for the 4th time. Will post the final results again.
Also as froyo users are posting better battery performance, expect even more longevity of the battery once i receive my OTA (damn ever eluding update)
Conclusion - Definitely its a drastic improvement from the stock battery and the best part is it resolves the only problem i had with my legend, heating of the phone for no reason!
Makes me wonder why legend doesn't come with such a battery on default purchase.
Thanks Mugen for such a great battery
Do drop your comments and suggestions below or any standard benchmarking tools that i can use ...

Heating up is unusual with legend under normal usage, are you sure it has to do with the stock battery?
Some people did report problems with juice defender, your case may be different though.
Gotta say mugen battery was very lasting initially if you follow their instructions properly, but after using it for couple of months I don't think iam getting that same performance, its much less.. though still better than the stock one.
My mugen fits lil tighter than the stock one, its hard to get it out without that red lever. Iam kinda surprised about yours being the same fit as stock one. Dunno if they changed anything.

No heating issues at all after replacing the stock battery with the Mugen one. Havent changed / installed any new apps / software for the past 2 weeks. 1 week with the new battery.
So i can confidently say the stock battery is the culprit.

Hope mine gives the same performance at a later stage as well. Can it be that you got used to the longer battery life and dont realize it now?

I dont know if they have made any changes to the battery. My Mugen slides right out of the slot on tilting the phone after opening the case just like the stock battery!

It could be that, but iam sure it doesnt last as long as it was initially.. but still better than the stock one for sure.

Mine doesnt slide right out like the stock battery, it does need lil effort. (ie. the red lever) May be they made some changes after selling many pieces ?

I've experienced the same short life when charging through USB, but when I use the wall charger, it lasts much longer.
Going to bite the bullet & try out one of these, just awaiting the money to be put in my PayPal account.

[Q] Battery dead after a year of usage

I've had my SGS Plus for a bit over a year now and the battery died few weeks ago.
It started with reboots, mainly with high battery drain use like browsing and gaming. When it tried to reboot, came a pop-up telling that I should connect my phone to a charger even tho I had plenty of juice left, and then it shut down the phone because the battery level was too low. When it finally booted after 3-5 reboots caused by low battery, battery level was ~5-8%, and it started to charge itself slowly, so that it would almost reach the level It had before the reboot in a few hours.
The battery lasted +2 days on average with my use, so it definitely has not been charged too many times (150-200 charge cycles). Samsung gives a six month warranty for the battery, so no help from there. The battery itself had swollen ~1-2 mm, that how I got a clue where to look for the fault.
Do you consider this normal? How long has your battery been serving you?
The battery of my i9000 still works after 2 years. Batterys are quite unpredictable so IMo it's not something you could blame on Samsung unless everybody would have this problem. In other words yes I think it's normal, but you are unlucky.
It isn't a big problem either since you can buy a replacement for just a few dollars if you don't care it's not official. The i9001 battery has more capacity though so they are either expensive or hard to find.

[Q] Galaxy S I 9000 Battery Drain Issue

Hi,
I am recently facing a heavy battery drain issue with my Galaxy S. The battery drained fully even in stand-by, within 10-12 hours.
So, I now replaced with a new battery(the battery was already 2 years old).
But, with this new battery too, it gets only around 20 hours of light use(3G, Music, Video drains the battery a lot). Also, the battery never shows fully charged unless it charges for a full night. though it reaches 100% around 3 hours, but still drains within evening.
I got my motherboard replaced recently, facing a network issue and was using the old battery for the first 2 weeks before replacing it with new one(1650 mAH).
So, my question is, whether the problem is related to my battery or is it with my motherboard?
Can anybody help me in this??
Are you using a custom Rom
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium HD app
was using, now reverted back to stock rom... still d same, barely lasts half a day.. with nearly no usage....
Also, the Battery monitor widget says the capacity is 1500mAH, but this is a 1650 mAH battery, the voltage level seems to be ok

I know this is going to sound strange, but is there any specific app you are using when this happens, the reason I ask a friend uses facebook and it drains his battery from a high percent down to 0 and shuts off the phone in less than a minute.

Damaged battery from cold?

Hi, I have 2 batteries for my Galaxy Note: The original battery (works fine, slightly short life) and an Anker Battery for the Note. The Anker battery I was using for about 6 months without any issues, however on the way back from a holiday in a car, I left the Anker battery in it. The battery was in the car from about the 25th July to 5th October (roughly 40 days). The temperature outside has been hovering around the 0 degrees Celsius mark during the night and about 7 degrees Celsius during the day. When I finally found the Anker battery, I plugged it into my Note and it started to charge, once it had been charging for about 20min I turned it on and it was at 20%. Whilst using the phone, the phone shutdown without any logos appearing or anything special. Once I had turned it on, the battery jumped from 25% to 55%. Treating this as just a random reboot which happens rarely, I carried on using it. After about 30min of use, the phone yet again shutdown when I locked me screen... the battery dropped from 55% to 25%.
Today, during a 6h period, the phone shut off 4 times.
So my question is: Can the battery get damaged from the cold or could it be something else? Perhaps I just have to use it a bit more? Or maybe the battery is just degraded after this 7 month period of time?
Seems like damaged for me. I had the same behavior with my x10.
Sent from note, a phone like never before

Thanks, I got more confirmation that it is damaged - screen started flickering at 30%
Guess I will have to use my original battery.
