Can you download and run Internet Explorer 8 on this device for web browsing?
Wtf

Maybe I should have clarified. I am looking at purchasing a tablet that will support Internet Explorer 8 for work purposes. The web program we use is only compatible with IE8 (not IE9 or any other web browser). I would like to get the tablet through Verizon to have the 3G/4G service when Wi-Fi is not available. Does anyone know if the Samsung Galaxy Tablet, the iPad2 or any other tablet they offer could be rooted to allow IE8 as the web browser instead of the factory installed web browsing system?

Is not posible, IE8 is for Windows. Android and IOS have a full diferent system.
And even if you bought a tablet thats compatible with Win8 (WeTab etc.) It will not run an "old" IE8... so most liekly no IE8 on a Tab

I had an I pad for a while but the lack of being able to do any type of file manipulation or use flash is maddening. If anyone used the netflix AP originally, you may have noticed that it was the html 5 version of the site. Recently that changed, so I do not know if anyone has a way of testing this. Since the android browser supports html 5 we are able to visit the netflix website and use it normally until you get to actually watching a video. Since someone was able to get flash plugin to work with netflix, maybe its posibble to see how and why netflix works through safari on the Ipad. If the html 5 version of the site could be tricked or not is beyond me. Just throwing this out there to see if it sticks to anyone.

The android app (http://mcdn.netflix.com/us/mobile/android/45/netflix-45-release.apk) also is just a web interface but the actual video playback requires a native library (which doesn't support Xoom) as I'm sure the iPad and PS3 app does as well. You can browse the various netflix mobile sites with any browser.

It is the same as what you see on the iPad
I didn't think about having to develop it for the tegra until now. Hopefully with the glut of tegra devices we will see it shortly. I hope the tegra is capable of the same type of device encryption as the revolution. I don't know if the device encryption within the xoom is honeycomb or the xoom itself.

Ok.so I've just seen a friend with a Samsung galaxy s 2 and an app called kies air and wondered if there is a similar kind of app that we can use on the desire hd?

I'd really like to know this as well. I had a SGS2 for a few weeks and really grew to love Kies Air. I wish HTC had something similar. Even the Motorola Atrix I had used something similar.
The latest app in market is Airdroid. Its much polished and better than Kies Air.
in the market?
I have not seen any app in the market that provides the user interface that the kies air does. There are a couple apps that provide the wifi file transfer but interface is nowhere near the usability of kies air.
I think airdroid is closest I've found

good
kies Is Just For Samsung And We cant use it on other than samsung devices so use airdroid for now
I tried Airdroid the other day and the user interface seems very good. I don't need any of that though since my phone stays by my side at all times, so I don't need to log into a browser to check anything. I use SwiFTP for wireless file transfer. Can be done if you are on the same Wifi network, local basically and over the network. I lost my USB cable haha, 2nd time this has happened I leave the bloody thing everywhere since I keep moving around, so wireless transfer is the best.

The problem of Airdroid is it require too much informations from the phone!
HTC Sync is the alternative ☺ though, I don't think it does much other than sync media [emoji53]

I've seen this in the UK for around £279. I'm wanting to get a tablet for the Adobe Touch apps to use alongside with Photoshop and Illustrator.
I have an Android phone, HTC Incredible S which I absolutely love, and I love Android. However, I also have a Mac and have had an iPod Touch 2nd gen, so I love OSX and iOS, so am also tempted by an iPad.
Anyway, how well does the Galaxy Tab 8.9 run? Do the Adobe Touch apps run smoothly on it, or would it be best for me to go for an iPad?
Thanks.
Do you work for a company or go to university that uses citrix? If you can you can connect to that and use full pc apps, I always use word on my tab and it's awesome to do.

What do you guys think of the new Chrome OS release, demoed on the new 5 series samsung laptop? After playing around with ICS on my galaxy nexus for the last few weeks I've begun to be incredibly impressed by Google's capability to make an operating system.
Never thought of getting a chrome laptop before but considering it now... although it still might be in its infancy... ??

Spend a couple of weeks using nothing but the Chrome browser on your PC for everything (and I do mean everything). If you get on okay with that then you're a candidate for a Chrome book.
But AFAIK, on the Chrome OS that you can install on Windows it also means that if your intarwebz is down then you can't use the OS?
Is that true? Or is it the WHOLE OS that depends on the web.

I'm waiting for the next iteration of "chrome OS". The last update (with the kinda, sorta like a desktop) isn't available yet on the cr-48....

THERE ARE offline apps (like offline gmail or docs (drive ) you can also access your downloads thru the rudimentary file manager)
However, to use most apps, you do need an internet connection.
I have a cr-48 with the 3G Verizon chip and I love it.

I've considered one myself, but don't know if it's just a "buy pretty stuff" urge, or if I really would use it. I've got a 10" tablet so it's sort of not required. Watch this space. Maybe.
I dont like it, its just like a browser

Multitasking on Microsoft Windows is a great feature that also works well on the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and is one of the main reasons I will not buy a large tablet like the iPad or Nexus 10 which doesn't have it.
You can increase the number of multitasking apps by rooting or using the MW-PEN App from the Play store.
I used the MW-PEN App to multitask the Photon browser which is a great browser for viewing Web sites that need Flash player.
Multitasking has many uses, for example it's great being able to use email whilst "keeping an eye" on something happening on the browser or watching media.
Samsung are rightfully proud of multi-tasking on the 10.5 as shown by their adds and I for one agree with them.
I agree. This is a central reason why I bought this tab as opposed to an I pad. It makes practical sense to be able to multitask if work õr play demands it. This tab does it seemlesly too. I often make notes on word app whilst reading ärticles online or make power point slides by directly cutting and pasting relevant info from the Web.

I put this to the test today. I had two chrome windows running two videos and there was zero lag on either video and both played sound flawlessly. I am very impressed.
Hi, I didn't think I would use this option, but I really like it and I use use quite often!
But I had to add a lot of apps with wanam xposed module.
The default list is too short.
