I've successfully screwed up my boot logo trying the changer in Rom toolbox. It didn't list bionic as an option when i selected my device so i chose the closest alternative i knew and tried it. Installed a theme and all it did was distort my stock Motorola logo.
Anyone know where i can get the original , or better yet, a custom that works ?

Just a heads up to you guys looking for alternate boot animations, now up in my section of rom manager are all 5 droid phones bootanimations, the droid, droid 2, droid incredible, droid pro, and droid x. enjoy.
thanks..where exactly is the bootanimation being placed on the system...I check Data/Local but nothing is there after I tried to install it using rom manager. Reason am asking is because the bootanimation did not work
does this work on dj05? chus ive been
trying but its still on the galaxy s boot up
any sugestion?
You need to flash a kernel that supports custom boot animations.

Like Adr0it said, if you install this and are still getting the default bootanimation you need to install a kernel that enables custom bootanimations. either one of jt's kernels, or stupidfast 1.2.3.
also for the galaxy s phones bootanimation.zip is stored in /system/media
does anybody have the droid
sound.. i wanna put it with
the droid pro boot up
I think Pete still has a stock deodexed Droid 1 Froyo ROM on his website (link is there, I assume as of now it's working). You can pull the sound from the system folder.

there is a variety of boot animations in www.romkitchen.org you can just make a update.zip and flash it thru recovery. thats the easiest method,

Just go to http://www.romkitchen.org/sgs/?s=generator and Base Rom : update.zip, then set boot animation whatever you want
Remove boot animation zip should return to stock animation.

You can only change the kernel and baseband on these phones with a OTA update from Motorola. Our bootloader is locked.
You can return the phone to stock software with one of the FXR apps that are available. But the baseband and kernel will remain unchanged. I used this one successfully last weekend: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/5484-r3l3as3droot-and-43v3r-root-for-the-bionic-v21/
Will the method mentioned on the RootWiki site also remove the bootstrap/CWM if installed?
Yes it will
So basically I can load bootstrap and cwm from koush and something like liberty and then go back to the way it was when unboxed with no sign of any changes? The reason I ask is I am still in my 14 day return window.

After installing CWM make a virgin backup before making ANY changes.

how would one go about changing the splash logo from the Motorola Dual Core logo to something else on the droid 4?

ROM Toolbox is the easiest way I know. Be careful though. Seems like I saw someone post here on XDA that their phone got very angry after changing the boot logo.
is this documented to be working?

I have used rom toolbox to update my D4's boot animation.
It does require the Premium (non-free) rom toolbox.
But it does work on the droid 4?

I recently had my bionic flashed to page plus from verizon. I have it rooted and bootstrap installed. But before i downloaded a custom rom a bad thought crossed my mind and i definitely need a more experienced answer to the question. If I were to flash a custom rom could it adversely have an effect on the prl or any other changes made during the page plus flash? Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance

keep trying the 4 corners thing. just tonight I rooted my Bionic, installed Safestrap, and installed the IcarusHD rom. I had precisely the same issue as you when loading the new rom, but the 4 corners thing got me out of it. if you've never done it before check out the finger placement in this video:

Thank you so much i was finally able to bypass it. Turned out i was tapping too far below the bottom 2 corners. Thank you sooo much
