I recently had my bionic flashed to page plus from verizon. I have it rooted and bootstrap installed. But before i downloaded a custom rom a bad thought crossed my mind and i definitely need a more experienced answer to the question. If I were to flash a custom rom could it adversely have an effect on the prl or any other changes made during the page plus flash? Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance

keep trying the 4 corners thing. just tonight I rooted my Bionic, installed Safestrap, and installed the IcarusHD rom. I had precisely the same issue as you when loading the new rom, but the 4 corners thing got me out of it. if you've never done it before check out the finger placement in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYDYN0iWp_4
Thank you so much i was finally able to bypass it. Turned out i was tapping too far below the bottom 2 corners. Thank you sooo much

You can only change the kernel and baseband on these phones with a OTA update from Motorola. Our bootloader is locked.
You can return the phone to stock software with one of the FXR apps that are available. But the baseband and kernel will remain unchanged. I used this one successfully last weekend: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/5484-r3l3as3droot-and-43v3r-root-for-the-bionic-v21/
Will the method mentioned on the RootWiki site also remove the bootstrap/CWM if installed?
Yes it will
So basically I can load bootstrap and cwm from koush and something like liberty and then go back to the way it was when unboxed with no sign of any changes? The reason I ask is I am still in my 14 day return window.

After installing CWM make a virgin backup before making ANY changes.

can someone please port liberty from the D3 to the D4? i think all it needs is the LTE support and a change in the keyboard lighting code.
Is Liberty already available as a Safestrap ROM?
Sent from my DROID4 using XDA
its been available for the D3 since 2011 works in safestrap
Safestrap for d4?
Sent from my DROID4 using xda premium
i tried installing it today (D3 version of liberty) and safestrap installed it and the init d "speedy" hack fine, but it wouldnt boot.
I'd really like to see sense roms ported. I had core cell for my hd2 and loved it. Miss it lol

Did you make sure you were using a Safestrap compatible version? Remember a safestrap rom is different than a regular rom.
Sent from my DROID4 using XDA
i just took the D3 version of it that i was running on my d3 and flashed it. didnt boot though.
Can you give me a link to the thread where you downloaded the rom you are flashing?

If you read the first post, it explicity says "cwm only". It is not a safestrap rom. Also, liberty is based on the Droid 3 stock rom. If you want to port it, here are the first steps:
1. Get an updated Safestrap rom that incorporates the lates Motorola patch. (We will want the performance and battery boost it gives the d4)
2. DeOdex the ROM from step 1.
3. Prepare a sort of blank slate to start with, by ripping out everything not necessary.
At this point, we can start adding the Liberty customizations.

I am in the process of doing this. I am currently trying to work with Hashcode to try to put together a Safestrap version of the D4 stock ROM with the latest OTA patch. I'm going to try to deodex and deblur it.
For now, have you checked out my Motoblur LT ROM?

Is it your motoblur LT deodexed? If so that is what I have been waiting for. I love gummy but would go full stock if I could change some or the icons safely. like the green battery icon. It just looks retarded with the blue 3g, 4g and wifi icons. If I knew how to deodex a rom I would attempt it myself, are there any instructions available for doing this ones self? Thanks for what you have done and are attempting.

Unfortunately, it is not yet deodexed. I just spent the last 3 hours trying to, and the resulting update.zip looks fine, but it won't boot. For now, though, it is very debloated and slightly deblured.

Are you sure you need deodex? I used ROM Toolbox to change battery icon on stock Razr ROM.
Hi, guys,
I am recently rooted. I am experienced in rooting (Eris and Incredible), but you all know the Droid 3 is a little different. I am gaining CM recovery with the bootstrap app. I flashed gummy 1.2.0 but I keep getting stuck in the animation. I am wiping dalvik and data, and I know I am doing everything right.
I flashed Gummy 0.9 last night and it worked perfectly except I had no 3g, so I researched and discovered 1.2.0 was released which fixed the problem, so I tried it to no avail. I LOVED Gummy 0.9, and I would really love to have Gummy on my phone. Any suggestions would be great.
And yes, I have been searching the site since last night.
Try flashing Safestrap instead.

Did you use one of the ics-leak specific builds of CM9 and install safestrap 2.0 after you installed .232? If not, you need to do that. Also, you should wipe the cache and dalvik cache again, maybe even just do another factory reset/wipe from safestrap. Also, often when installing a new rom, it will go to the black screen on the first boot up and you may have to do a battery pull, and the second try will work.
Yeah I didn't download the leak version lol. I'm a noob to the bionic lol

Did you follow the directions word for word? As stated above some roms require you to do certain things to get beyond certain points. I have yet to install an ICS ROM as I'm quite happy with .232. Every so often we think we follow directions down to the "t" but we miss 1 little step. I do it all the time and I am not new to flashing new roms/leaks etc...You just gotta go back and retrace your steps and see where you might have gone wrong. I know I've read some of the steps for one of the rom and the spot you're at seems like the point where you need to do a battery pull as suggested.
I overlooked the whole leak rom thing lol. I'm back on .232 cm9 wasn't really as smooth for me as the leak .232

I tried CM9 and AOKP before I tried Liquid 1.5. Liquid was a LOT better.
Does the status bar on liquid scroll down with the screen locked? That's my only peeve right now
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda app-developers app
Liquid 1.5mr1 is really nice, i really like it alot, i like motos stock leak but there isnt any customization on it
Yeah, there are some things I like better about stock .232 over Liquid, like the SMS app but I'll trade that any day for ROM tweaks.

Anyone have specific install instructions for slim kat on targa? Do I need a specific version of ss, do I need to install on slot 1? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well I got no replies, but I went ahead and updated safestrap to 3.65, and installed on slot 1. It is working well.

Well, then. That's better than I got on my Bionic. CyanFox, CM11, or SlimKat(current) would not even breathe on slot 1.
Any other slot, and I was golden.
Yep, test, play, tweak, or wreck.....blow that slot up and go at it again.

Running 3.65; was looking into updating TWRP since I went from SlimKat 3.2 to 3.6.
I'm running SlimKat just fine on Slot 1.
Wifi Tether does not work

It works now. Did the AOSP WiFi Fix (check the CM11 topic)
I personally recommend updating to 3.72 safestrap. I was getting errors flashing JBX Kernel until I did that (correctly).
Was anyone able to download the new update? I keep getting a server error.

roms
Its good to see people still flashing custom ROMs on their bionics. I still have my bionic and its going as strong as ever. My son uses it and he loves it.
I installed Slimkat and I can't get past the loading screen. It just keeps flashing the Slimkat logo over and over indefinitely.
Alright, I fixed the problem. I made the mistake of using the old bootstrap to install Slimkat, so I wound up with a bricked device. Even the recovery was wiped out so I thought I was screwed. I did some digging and figured it out over the course of a few hours...
I downloaded the latest firmware for the Bionic and tried installing them in the command line while the phone was in fastboot. The img files supposedly loaded successfully, but I still couldn't get into recovery to finalize the system installation. Luckily I discovered RSD 5.6. It worked except there were a few problems in the xml file within the firmware, so I had to take out both lines that had "oem" in them to get it to finish.
After that my Bionic was brought back to factory stock condition. I rooted using the Safe Root command line tool, installed Safestrap 3.73, and flashed Slimkat. It worked great!
If you're having similar issues and I didn't give enough info just let me know and I'll try to help.
