Flashing rom?? - Motorola Droid Bionic

I tried flashing cm9. I'm on the. 232 ics leak. After I rebooted it was just a blank screen but my soft keys were lit up. Never booted up. Help please?

Did you use one of the ics-leak specific builds of CM9 and install safestrap 2.0 after you installed .232? If not, you need to do that. Also, you should wipe the cache and dalvik cache again, maybe even just do another factory reset/wipe from safestrap. Also, often when installing a new rom, it will go to the black screen on the first boot up and you may have to do a battery pull, and the second try will work.

Yeah I didn't download the leak version lol. I'm a noob to the bionic lol

Did you follow the directions word for word? As stated above some roms require you to do certain things to get beyond certain points. I have yet to install an ICS ROM as I'm quite happy with .232. Every so often we think we follow directions down to the "t" but we miss 1 little step. I do it all the time and I am not new to flashing new roms/leaks etc...You just gotta go back and retrace your steps and see where you might have gone wrong. I know I've read some of the steps for one of the rom and the spot you're at seems like the point where you need to do a battery pull as suggested.

I overlooked the whole leak rom thing lol. I'm back on .232 cm9 wasn't really as smooth for me as the leak .232

I tried CM9 and AOKP before I tried Liquid 1.5. Liquid was a LOT better.

Does the status bar on liquid scroll down with the screen locked? That's my only peeve right now
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda app-developers app

Liquid 1.5mr1 is really nice, i really like it alot, i like motos stock leak but there isnt any customization on it

Yeah, there are some things I like better about stock .232 over Liquid, like the SMS app but I'll trade that any day for ROM tweaks.

[Q] trouble installing red dawn ROM for cdma hero

Ok, Papa Smurf put together a really good ROM, I'm just such a noob its killing me. All of the Jargon involved in this is very far over my head. whenever one of you guys say any technical term, i literally have to go look the word up. Rooting for most people with a working brain is a cakewalk. That wasn't the case for me. But i stuck in there and got it done.
Then it came time to install the ROM. I looked through the thread that he posted the ROM and never found any real directions. I'm sure this is due to the fact that everyone has enough sense to figure it out on their own.
What i did was went to the ROM manager and installed the ROM, then re-started my phone. it stuck on the htc screen for a minute then the droid eye thing came up and that kept looping. Soo, according to what I understood from the directions....i took the battery out and put it back in. The first problem I am having is how to turn my phone back on now. It's not even recognizing that the charger is plugged in. The second thing i need is for someone to give me any type of directions on hoe to do this the right way. I dont know how to flash the jit file either.
I'm sure i sound like a fool but thats what i am. Thanks ahead of time to anyone who tries to help me.
I got my phone restored back to the way it was before I tried to install the ROM. I just need to get the ROM installed.
I got it I guess. I just restarted my phone about ten times and it eventually took... a red eye popped up and it said "droid" over and over like it has been doing. Then the rotary lock screen came up and i started to set up my phone. but after i finished it went right back to the eye thing. Is it because of the JIT.ZIP file not being installed right?
That's pretty old. Why not try a nice 2.2 or 2.3 based rom? 2.1 is so... old.

Cm7 or aospmod both are fine choices for non sense roms. Not real sure about sense roms, though. LiquidSense, maybe? Remember to wipe everything before you flash a new rom. Dalvik, cache, data all need it when flashing a new one. More than likely, that is what is causing your boot loops. Don't be so hard on yourself, we all were new once. Btw, I said "hard on"! *Beavis laugh*

D3 Clockwork Recovery on the way!

I just saw this! Follow @P3Droid on twitter for any updates! My guess by Friday Clockwork will be up!
Good afternoon everyone. According to a reliable source we have just been informed that the Motorola Droid 3 now has a fully functioning recovery. This is great news for those that want to have the flexibility that CWR brings to the Android line of devices. Currently we don't have the specifics regarding the method of installation but according to P3 more information will follow soon..
I know there are a lot of excited D3 owners and Devs out there hearing this. I also hope this means we'll see the X2 and the Bionic to Follow. Let the Backups and Flashing begin.

Not really caring about roms. My main concern, right now, is if someone backs a backup of the bone stock pre OTA phone, with clockwork recovery, will i be able to install it on to my phone?
I think the best part of this so far is that nandroid is working (ie: backups can be made & flashed w/o the hassles of using RSDLite and waiting for SBFs). Great news! One step closer to Cyanogen.

Basically what it means is that you can install any rom made for the droid 3. Different "cooks/chefs" (people who cook or make roms) will make roms ranging from stock 2.3.4 (sans blur) to modified "improved" 2.3.4 stock droid rom to new versions that have leaked like the upcoming Ice-cream os and maybe even Jelly Bean.
Truly unicorns here. I remember when I had the D1 the battery life was barely better than what we have now. Liquid cooked up a rom that gave me a 2 day battery life with heavy use.
Not to mention hotstpotting and other cool things. I doubt getting past or fooling the Efuse is too difficult after the unlocked bootloader.
Look at how far development has come on the Milestone despite its locked bootloader; granted, it's been almost 2 years since that phone came out but it certainly is possible to squeeze way more performance out of these bad boys than is possible with their stock representation!
Can't wait to see what happens in the next few months!

If you read the first post, it explicity says "cwm only". It is not a safestrap rom. Also, liberty is based on the Droid 3 stock rom. If you want to port it, here are the first steps:
1. Get an updated Safestrap rom that incorporates the lates Motorola patch. (We will want the performance and battery boost it gives the d4)
2. DeOdex the ROM from step 1.
3. Prepare a sort of blank slate to start with, by ripping out everything not necessary.
At this point, we can start adding the Liberty customizations.

SafeStrap question

If I do a factory reset in recovery while safe system is enabled, does that only reset the Rom on that side of the partition? Or does it reset the other side where I have 232 installed (safe system disabled) as well?
A little background: I was having issues on 232 with reboots after a month or so so I decided to give liquid a shot which seems ok so far.
Any help would be appreciated.

I think the main thing that is used from the "non-safe" side on the "safe-side" is the kernel. I was having some problems with 232 and did a factory reset and it helped, but you will loose all of apps and data, even safestrap. You will have to install it again and flash a ROM to your "safe-side" again because it will delete the preinstall where your "safe system" is stored.

Just make sure you don't restore a "safe" backup to the "non safe" side, and if you are going to try out Jelly Bean on your safe side make sure to format "/system" along with wiping when coming from ICS.

I read all that last night - also droidforums.net. There was never a solution beyond reflash, and nobody ever reported back if they were able to solve it. I don't recall having this problem with Safestrap 1.08 when I tried Liberty before.
Oh well. I'll keep playing around. I tried the vending.apk from Maverick 4.5 but that didn't seem to help either. I also tried turning ads back on in ROM Toolbox. It may be time to go through build.prop or something.

I've used liberty off and on and I only ever had that problem the first time, and never again. Odd

I keep getting market force closes. I've tried lost of things - wiping data in the market app in settings->applications->manage applications; reflashing the ROM; wiping Dalvik; wiping data and reflashing the ROM and setting up from scratch. No matter what I do, the market FCs.
Anybody else?

Ok, I got it working. What worked for me is to skip the initial setup of Liberty by doing the four corner trick (i.e, on the "touch the Droid to begin" screen, touch the four corners of the touchable display in the order upper left, upper right, lower right, and lower left; this will skip the setup steps and bring you straight to the home screen). Touching the market after that asks you to log in to a Google account, and this successfully starts the market/play store without a force close.
Breaking my usual rule of not changing two things at once, I also switched from the first ROM slot to my third (I have three slots.) I doubt that made a difference, though.

Hmm, that could be why. I always skip setup via 4 corners, although back when liberty first came out I probably didn't. Although it could be coincidence, as stated in the thread, it seemed kinda random, appearing for some, and being fixed via multiple reflashing.
I've been giving some consideration to going back to liberty for awhile, switch it up. I'll put it to the test if i do

I feel the need to point out that I don't use safe strap but plain old cwm+bootstrap. I have no need to keep a stock partition, plus saftedtrsap mounts roms as loop back devices which is slower. Minimoto is much faster when it's actually my /system and not a mounted. Img

Do you have to change anything to get it to boot in cwm?

I flashed it with safestrap 3.5 and everything works perfect for me. Are you sure you guys used the right gapps? Everything works on my phone.
P.S.......And thanks for updating Liberty to work with Safestrap 3.5..........

Oh, cool. I'm just used to flash my own GApps with Liberty, like before.
Weird, not sure why people are having an issue with it then?

You only need to flash GApps on aosp based roms like cm and aokp. This is due to legal issues, android is open source, gapps are not. Since liberty is heavily modified blur base rather than being compiled from source, gapps are included.

Thanks, I'll have to keep that in mind. I'm not sure if there's anything in a CyanogenMod Gapps that would be bad for Liberty.
Anyway, the four corners trick works, and everything else in setup is easy to re-do. Restoring apps and WiFi access points I do with Titanium anyway, so I don't need to restore from Google.
I have to say that I set this up but went back to Minimoto because I was traveling and I wanted to have a known-good setup. I'll restart with Liberty in a day or two and see how things go.
