Shutdown on LAN?

Hey all,
Using my Hero to send Wake on LAN packets to my home PC either manually or via Locale when I get near my house, it all works great.
My question is are there any apps that can shut a PC down remotely too?

WOL is a bios function, shutdown is a OS function. Your only bet is along the lines of
Code:
ssh [email protected] shutdown -h now

I know there are commands than can be sent to a windows PC but its sending it from my Hero that's the issue
Yans - There are wake on lan apps for the Hero on the market, including a plugin for Locale, then you just need to do some googling for information on setting your PC up to accept the "magic packets"

i use vnc to shutdown windows

You can always use BsoDroid, if your pc is under vista/w7.

Unstable wifi connection

I am having a very annoying problem but I don't know if it is application or system related. When I try to copy a file from my network drive to SD card with ES File Explorer the whole thing copyes normaly or (most of the time) I get an error. After that the wifi connection doesn't work anywhere (browser, market...) and I can make it work again by disabling and re-eanabling it. After that I can browse the internet.... but I still can't copy a file from a network HD. The whole thing just repeats itself. Or downloads a % or two and stops with an error.

Root your phone and grab the app "WifiPowerSavingOff" from market.

Judging by the name of it - won't it eat my battery faster? Because I like to have my wifi enabled all the time.

[Q] Wi-Fi Problem

My Galaxy 7 tab will not connect to my router, there are 2 sky routers it is trying to connect to, not sure why it is trying to connect to the other.
How can I remove the unwanted router from the list of devices?

Turn off wifi, still in the settings, tap once in one router, and choose delete.
Is better you delete both them.
And after this connect again for the one that appear when you turn on wifi.

Try tap and HOLD and a menu should pop up.
Install wifi key recovery from market first then loss of key should not be an issue.
(I'm assuming you're rooted)

Wi-Fi recovery keeps force closing and tap and hold just brings up the key entry box

Let me get get it straight. You saw two routers on the list.
One is the one you want and have key for it.
The other is the one you don't want and have no key for it.
1) is that correct?
2) how do you know your tab is trying to connect to second router.
If you just want to remove the second router ( aka don't want to see it hanging around) , you can't.
It is broadcasting and you will always see it as long as it is turned on.

My point is, the second router is just being around, you don't have to connect to it or remove it.
That is why I asked how do you know your tab us trying to connect to it.
My suspicion is, it is not trying to.
It just happens to see the other router.
You can just ignore it and connect to yours.
If the tab can't connect to it despite having the right key, maybe it us MAC filter or something else. Just focus on that and forget about the other router.

I have a wifi problem as well where I cannot connect to my wireless routers, even after deleting the settings and trying to get in again. One is open the other is secure but i have entered the correct key. It gets stuck on acquiring IP, but my other devices connect almost immediately.
Any clues?

This is where mine stops as well.

Still looking for a solution to this problem, beginning to considerer a factory reset.
I have tried turning security off my wi-fi and it still does not connect.

Not sure what to do about this problem now, I did a factory reset but the 2 routers are still trying to connect, so I went into download mode cleared cache and reloaded system from download menu and the 2 routers are still both trying to connect.
I have found details on the net about removing the DHCP details using a root exploer but my tab no longer seems to be rooted and if I try to root it using Z4Root which I used before it fails to root the tab.
Any ideas how I can root the tab to get to the DHCP info?

I heard from another that an app uou can download from google play called WIFIX helps wofes a lot of wifi problems.

After having dowloaded or created new files on my phone , it can last a long time before I can see them on my PC via USB connection. Is this normal? Is there a way to fix that?

I have seen that, Seems to happen on internal memory, try putting the file on external (Those might be the other way round, its been a while since I have noticed it)
The other thing I have done is disconnect and reboot phone

Try using airdroid or wifi file transfer from the market.

I never connect to the PC via USB anymore. The charge you gain is poor compared to A/C.
I purchased wifi file transfer pro and use it every day. You dont have to mount and unmount, then wait for the sdcard to be read. You can throw files back and forth in an instant.:good:

I use airdroid and other apps as well. they are good for throwing files but slow in transferring big files via wifi (Like roms etc) but for everyday file transfer these are good.
Dropbox also automatically uploads my pics, and myphonexplorer is also very good

Nothing I copy to the phone stays on it after a reboot

I've been trying to add notifications to my phone and I can copy them to the phone using Android File Transfer on my mac. I put them in the Notifications folder and when I reboot they disappear.
Anyone know why?
It seems as though my SD card space is under the same write protection as /system.

Weird. I have a ton of music that I put on my phone using ATF, and I transfer files back and forth on a daily basis. I'll try to add a notification tonight and see if that works. In the meantime, try putting it in your music folder and then transfer it with ES or another file explorer and see if it sticks.

I did a factory reset and now stuff is sticking.

Now that I'm trying it out, I can't get ATF to connect to my phone. I rebooted both my mac and my phone, reinstalled ATF... nothing. When I think about it, I haven't actually used ATF since rooting with pwnmymoto... have you tried it since rooting? Or installing Xposed?

I'm suspecting pwnmymoto as well. As soon as I factory reset, the problem went away. I was rooted at the time of the problem

I had to plug and unplug several times to get aft to work

Damnit. I'm gonna ask jcase if it's possible that pwnmymoto breaks mtp.

Major deal-breaker if so. I'll reroot and run some tests

Not a dealbreaker for me, just a major PITA. I'll use google drive if I have to, but I really hope it doesn't come to that. Let me know what you figure out.

My problem seems to be an isolated one. I re-rooted and everything is working fine. Something corrupted my SD partition but it seems ok now
