wifi teethering now possible on X8?

Hi,
as in the topic, is it possible to use wifi teethering now on a X8? I understand that the bootloader hat to be unlocked, which seems is possible to do now.
Can anyone please point me into the right direction?
What must I do?
- unlock the bootloader?
- install a new kernel (or does that come with any ROM already?)
- which ROM do you consider me to get?

On FXP ROM after 028, it is possible to use it

If he use barnacle wifi, it's not necessary to do something else. Barnacle works with different way.
Otherwise he must do the steps that you propose.

Hi, thanks for the info.
it seems as if the developement of FXP Rom is stopped now, as Cyanogenmod released a port for the X8 device today? (which currently isn't downloadable at http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=shakira) ?
So should I wait until I can get CM, as it is supposed to work with that also, right?
I have already put another Rom on my X8 a few months ago, is there anything else I need to do now?
As the bootloader got unlocked.. Is there something I need to do to make CM7 and wifi-teethering to work then?
Sorry.. for my dumb question.. But the X8 is not my main phone.. I really only need it for wifi-teethering

The ROM FXP 043 has a built-in option for WiFi Tethering in WiFi and Network Settings.

and reboots instantly when u turn on wifi?

Install barnacle...you do not need your bootloader unlocked with it
I do not advise you to install fxp rom and kernel because that are no stable

I have 2 X8 (Me and My daughter) - both with GingerDX (v017, v014), stock kernel, no unlocked boatloader and Burnacle works very well for Me (usually I tether My GSM data to My daughter in a car)

With FXP_028 and FXP_030 kernel it don't reboot

just install barnacle wifi tether...
no need to unlco bootloader or anything...

Help: l instal barancle, started apk, on lap top find network, clik conect... and can't go to internet... what l do wrong?
Any setting?

Start wireless tethering -> while lap top connecting to the wifi -> Stop and restart tether quickly and it should be detected

Hi guys,
i managed to unlock my bootloader and load new kernel(linuxdx) and i'm wondering how can i do reverse usb tether? I.e. to have internet on my Android phone from the computer.

hmm ..
i have GingerDX V18 and i cant tether my connection to my ipod
Barnacle starts .. ipod finds wifi and connect but no internet

I got it. Connected with my ipod. When it was trying to connect i just click associate but i dont know if it have something to do with it. Give it a try

Wifi tether - no interent connection
I have X8 E15i
- unlocked bootloader
- full wipe
- miniCM 2.1.5 installed
Works perfectly, but i can connect to the X8 with wifi from a notebook, but no internet connection. (I tried barnacle, with the same result... I tried with and w/o WPA, same result ... )
Edit: Finally, i can use wifi tether with X8.

Yes... Is there any Gingerbread ROMs with Native WiFi Tether fully working like MiniCM? cause in GingerXperia and iTimmy (I forgot what version ) there is still a bug on WiFi tether... I just want to know if there is GB ROMs with native WiFi Tether... thanks

Yes, some ROM has built-in support. But I am not sure which, I dont use it...
Its normally specified in their official threads. Try GingerDX.

Wifi cm7 bug

Hi guys... i wanna ask something. First my problem is next...
1. When i flash any cm7 ROM my wifi work fine then after 10 minutes then he got off and after few second he's back again... example i'm on skype talking after 10 min puf connection lost...
Good developers know about i talking... on all cm6 and cm9 wifi is excellent... so i wanna ask can i get files from cm6 or 9 and put into cm7 change permissions and etc.... please answer really need this ... who find the way [email protected] (;

so noone ? .... really need fix for this... did i alone with this problem or what? what i must do? .... i say again on CM6 and CM9 ROM's wifi is working good... but when i flash CM7 (who's the best) wifi working fine 10 minutes ... when 10 minutes go ago my wifi reboot disconnect and inmidieatly connect and that kill myconnection ... like example what i say about skype...
so is there any solution for fix this? i love cm7 roms but can't use it please help me i pay if someone find fix :thanks!

What rom and kernel do u use? I had problem like that with stock and Alfs-GDx kernels, but with nAa and Alfs-Cm7 no problems with WiFi...

hello, i had the same problem once with CM7. Go on to settings-wifi and networks-wifi settings then press the options button on your phone then click advanced, then click wifi sleep policy and click NEVER.
IF that ^^ didn't work then go to recovery mode and do a factory wipe.
IF that ^^ didn't work then just install a different rom.

i do this few time and didn't working on all kernel's and all cm7 ROM's that is :S

Configure manually your network (WiFi >Advanced >Use static IP).

Repair phone with PCC and flash rom and kernel again
Or delete etc folder....root of phone it will maybe reset wifi drivers and reboot phone after deleting

Joyos problem

ok it is said that there are no bugs in joyOs... i have two problem
1st is my wifi didnt work... when i try to on the wireless button it automatically goes to off.
2nd is problem in importing contact from sd card which i already asked but no rply yet

Maybe you should get a logcat so the dev would know where to look?

JoyOS is full of bugs..
Try a different rom..
You can install the same launcher for free in the PlayStore.

What JoyOS are you using? If you want a really fantastic one,check this thread:

The ROM is fully developed and great for daily use( believe me, I tested it myself!)

That's very weird. I've been using it with full app load for an entire week and got no bugs. Try wiping or something...
None of the bugs you posted applied for me, so that obviously isn't a bug in the rom

People who are using Joyos I recommend that you flash latest nAa kernel. I use Joyos too!

On the contrary, I recommend Alfs v08a CM7.
It has MUCH better overall performance than nAa and benchmarks prove it.
I've never had a problem with Alfs and I've tested both kernels on many ROMs, so I know.

no improvements frens....wat to do...should i change the kernel??? if yes then plz send me link of that kernel....

How about posting your present kernel?
Anyway, there shouldn't be problems with kernel if you use Alfs CM7 v08a or nAa 13/14
Do you have a .vcf backup on your card? That's necessary in order to be able to restore contacts.
As for the wifi...maybe even a kernel problem. Try reflashing one of the aforementioned ones

A-B works,camera isn't laggy,+ other things I don't remeber. I was on Alfs too but now I'm on nAa 14 for long time. And battery is very good-about 5 days!

That counts for Alfs too! I had nAa for a long time and decided to switch to Alfs because it performs much better in benchmark, esp. the uncapped version. No problems with nAa kernel, but. Alfs is still fully functional and very fast.

i had the same problems. here's what i did:
For contact problems:
1. wiped out everything in recovery (full factory reset)
2. re-installed joyos
For wi-fi (do this after you have re-installed joyos because if not you will have the same wi-fi error):
1. turn on wifi and try to download anything from google play
2. turn of your phone while your wi-fi is on and DLing.
3. turn on phone and see that its downloading.
hope this helps, if not please don't blame me.

[Q] error on tethering wifi

I'm not able to activate tethering WiFi on my x8. I see a string error below the tethering WiFi when i tap on it.
Is there any log i can check for?

GingerDX v30 have tethering and portable hotspot function but it won't work just because you are on the stock kernel..
If your phone manufacture date is not 11W29 or higher (11W30,11W31,..), you can unlock your bootloader and flash a new kernel with flashtool made by developers. Otherwise, you can only use stock kernel so stop dreaming about wifi-tethering but you can use Barnacle wifi tether app on the play store to tether with other devices.
If your phone can BL unlock, try downloading kernel like Alfs and flash it and install GingerDXv30 not for stock kernel apps and flash some mods for alfs kernel via CWM recovery.
I'm 18 and I don't know really know much about this android world but I share this with my brain and my kindness to you in detail by each process.

i also have Barnacle in my phone downloaded and installed it as a fist app but never tried it or open it.LOL
