When I try to activate the built in wireless Tether option, it always gives me an error message and doesn't work.
Any ideas?

If you mean Wi-Fi hotspot, I just tick it and it works.

Did you already check the usual stuff like firewall and proxy settings?
Whenever I try to tether on my bionic (using android wifi tether) I get started, but with errors. The error it shows is "disabling nat rules - failed". I've gotten the latest update off google code for it and tried that and still nothing.
Using axi0m 4.0.3 ics rom
Also, the built in tethering that's provided doesn't work either. USB tethering just hangs when I enable it and the wifi one hangs at turning on wifi.
Also tried using open garden and it works but the type is limited and I can't get it out of adhoc mode.

I lose regular my wifi connection
And get an verification error. Then after resetting the router. It will work for a few days. Its a huawei hn220. I also use another router on it as acces point. To improve my wifi signal in the house. Its a belkin. On that wifi i dont have a problem.
Thats why i use 2 wifi logins.
So is there a solution on this verfication? Other equipment doesnt have that problem. To connect with the wifi.

If it is solved by reseting router, I do not think it is phone problem.

I have a need to connect to a WiFi device (Camera) not connected to the internet and be able to get internet data via 4G at the same time. Is it possible to force connection to the mobile network for data with the WiFi on? Rooted on KK.
TIA
All I can think of would be to tether your data, portable hotshot to the camera.

No you can't. I would say tether like the previous post said.

Thanks for the replies.
Any suggestions where I can learn about portable hotspots? Is this a device requiring a separate data plan and acts like a mobile wifi access point? The camera I'm attempting to use wants to be on it's own network.
I've tethered before to a PC thru both USB or Bluetooth, but not familiar with hotspot.
You can do wifi tether on your phone...

I've tried Wifi tethering, but the camera wants to act like a router/master and can not be changed. The SSID and passwords are the only settable things.
Ad Hoc is not an option. It does the address assignment and security password management. Maybe I need a different software on the phone? Or maybe a configuration I'm not doing??
I'm from Venezuela, I have purchased a mobile unlocked at & t "galaxy s5 sm-g900a" but as I do not have att sim, apparently I can not use the hotspot.
There is no way to run the hotspot with another carrier?
when trying to enable hotspot says "mobile data is not available or is not a valid sim"
edit: only works through USB.
Have you tried foxfi or tether it?

yes, works great with EasyTether with USB, I've been able to connect via USB and have internet from there.
I'm missing is wifi audit.
:good:
I have the same problem. I would like to tether via WIFI.
Someone could fix it?
Hey I tried fox-fi at work yesterday (I work at hhgregg) to try to provide WiFi to a laptop and it wouldn't work for me. It asked me to install pdanet+ first so I did and it still didn't work. Any way to get WiFi hot spots with this phone without root?

no way, I've tried everything to make it work for wifi and nothing, is completely blocked by the software layer at&t, only works for USB.
I downloaded and tested all applications for wifi tether, and no work, same error.
Well good news, geohot achieved our root at&t.
Now, as you can unlock the hotspot feature to use internet with another operator.
I remember a atrix 2 at & t, was modified somewhat in the system folder, but with this phone do?
