Yeah you should totally upgrade to KL7, mine was also KKA, after upgrading I've seen notable improvement in term of smoothness and performance.
checkrom has been working great so far.
too early to tell about battery issues since it takes a while to for the battery to calibrate itself.

I suggest you stick with KL7/KL8 ROMs.
Don't know if KL8 is rootable, or if any custom ROM is using it right now.
Stock KL8, feels smoother than KL7 for me. And yes it can be rooted.

Use the instruction and links located HERE and flash the ICS Rom of your choice vis PC-Odin, it's the safest way!
I suggest not going for the LPY Roms because of the eMMC bug that can brick your device!
Hope that helped bro!
Thanks for the reply bro btw what does LPY mean?

LPY LPF LLA ect.
They are all codes of defferent Firware builds.
nothing important, just to know which rom is what!
LPY means ICS open Germany rom
its a part of the open germany rom name
N7000XXLPY_N7000OXALPY_DBT
L = 2012
P = ICS
Y = Number version for OXA version
Had Darky ROM
Upgraded using PC Odin without loosing any data..
I've been out of the loop on the Galaxy S for so long and I would like to ask what is the best current stock firmware for the Galaxy S ?

XXJW4 stock firmware with xxjw4 modem is pretty stable
for daily use.
the latest one out is the XWJW6 with xwjw1, but of

I think JW4..it's really smooth and stable for me

It is worth upgrading to 404 as battery life is better, transitions and window animations are smoother than 403.
I'm using CF Root 5.6 LRG kernel and stock odex rom with some bloatware removed.
Well its my personal experience.
You'll sure hear some people advise you to downgrade to GB :silly:
You can download 404 with Check Fus Downlaoder.
Is that kernal safe???

No ICS Kernel is 100% safe.
When performing a Full wipe (Data/Cache), always flash the Abyss 4.2 Kernel first And reboot back into recovery!!!, and then wipe.
and what's the relevance between you going away and the urgent itch to upgrade?
No reason to upgrade lol....i just a flashaholic

Regarding CF Root 5.6 kernels. Samsung has released new sources but we still do not know if brick bug is fixed.
Better safe than sorry - always use GB kernels to be 102% sure and safe.

I do not know if CF Root is compatible with MIUI.
Flash CFR 5.6 with mobile odin.
use only the kernel that came with the firmware, i doubt also that other kernels will work with MIUI.

I think you have already rooted your device.
ROM manager won't work on Note.
What i remember is you have rooted your device from some other site. Now look to you appl drawer, whether it having CWM application?
If yes, you have to backup with that.

most of us already change to JB, i'm still in custom rom GB
I just installed JB stock LQ4. My experience:
1) With stock LQ4, stock kernel, rooted:
- To now, not bugs that some people say to have, like camera fc.
- Touchscreen feels like not as smother as GB
- There is something like lag in some areas, like in settings, when you press some one like sound, it take like 1s to open that setting. Very anoying
2) With stock LQ4, custom kernel (SIRI), rooted:
- Don't feel any diference with 1) , with pegasusq // sio at least.
When I flashed JB I did wipe data/factory reset, cache and I flashed it twice just like I read in some thread (wipe, flash using odin, boot then wipe again, flash using odin again)
