Hi everyone,
I have problem with wifi in my G1.
I've been using Froyo by Laszlo Rom for last 1year.
Yesterday, I was change ROM to BananaBread 2.1
After installation I decided to change theme/colors.
When I was changing theme in MetaMorph phone was get a FC.
After that "settings" disappeared from menu list and from desktop.
then I flash ROM one more time.
Since that time, when I want to turn on my wifi there is: "turning on..."
after few seconds there is "error"
I can't turn on or connect (wifi)
Lets say, that after few hour I can turn on wifi for a while. -> scanning, but when I want to connect i get FC. after this i have "error" in wifi and can't turn on one more time.
operations which I've done:
-change rom (different, few times)
-change kernel (different, few times)
-change radio (different, few times)
-change recovery (different, few times)
-format and new partition sd
-new sd card (after format&partition -> new rom)
-wifi fix from market
-adb (all options, chown ect)
-remove wpa_supplicant.conf
I don't have more options.
Maybe You guys can help me ?
best,
Thomas
PS.
Sorry, for my english.
B
maybe you should just go to an altogether different rom?
havent tried out bananabread yet but sounds like if you want to stay with this rom you should try to post in the developers section and see if the dev can give you a fix
I've already wrote that I was changing rom's
I don't have bananabread now.
in every different rom wifi doesn't work. -> error.
chances are there is something wrong with your daughterboard then, thats the smaller board with the usb port. that is where the wifi is located

I could use some help getting my bluetooth to work. I've tried several of the CM7 nightlys, their RC4, phiremod v5, v5.2, and v5.3. They all flash just fine, and work great, except when I try to turn on the bluetooth. When I go to the settings and try to turn it on, it just spends 30 seconds trying then goes back to having it off. I've flashed and re-flashed the system, and have read everything I can find, but don't know what I'm doing wrong.
My steps.
1) Downloaded 8gb_clockwork-0.1-ext4.tar.gz
2) Burned the contained img file to an sd card (used the dd command)
3) Copied system image to sd card (ie phiremod-nook-V5.3.zip)
4) Unmounted sd card and inserted it into my rooted nook
5) Turned nook on
6) Formated /system /data and /cashe
7) installed from sd card, selecting zipped image (ie phiremod-nook-V5.3.zip)
8) when complete, unmounted sd card
9) removed sd card
10) rebooted
11) it always fails to boot the first time, but works find after a restart.
Can anybody see what I'm doing wrong?
What works for me is pressing 'fix permissions' in rom manager then reboot and badabing.

That did the trick!, thank you very much luciferii
Just a note as I try to avoid "Fix Permissions" when possible-
Anyone with this problem MAY be able to turn bluetooth on by rebooting and enabling it as quickly as possible.
This seems to work most of the time for most people. Not always..
If not, fix permissions and a reboot does seem to take care of it the rest of the time.

Why would you avoid fix permissions? It just sets things to sane values.
As for me, the fix I heard and what worked for me was to turn off Wifi, Power off, power back on, turn on Bluetooth and let it init, then turn on Wifi. Now both will turn on.

Two reasons:
#1) While I am not afraid to mess with root access or abilities I also try to avoid doing so whenever I can. If I don't NEED to, I don't. Same way I work on my linux computers. And if I have done nothing to mess perms up they SHOULD be ok.
#2) I think the simplest fix is best, every time. (As long as it actually FIXES the problem, of course.)
If all that is actually NEEDED is a reboot and turning on bluetooth quickly, why do anything else?
Hi all,
Please bear with me as I'm a newbie here. I have an O2X with stock rooted V10A rom with modded status bar courtesy of UOT Kitchen (framework-res.apk taken from my stock rom). A month ago I installed an app called rescan media that requires usb debugging mode turned on. Then right after installing the app (with usb debugging mode on), I flashed the modded files from UOT Kitchen.
And now I'm beginning to notice a problem that wasn't there before I installed the app and flashed the customized files. Everytime I connect my phone to my laptop in usb storage mode, my phone reboots. Then after rebooting once, I can connect in usb storage mode without any problem. But later on the rebooting problem will show up again, and I don't know why.
What I've tried so far to get rid of the problem without luck :
1. Uninstalled rescan media and turned off the usb debugging mode;
2. Turned on usb debugging mode;
3. Wiped cache and delvik-cache then re-flashed the modded files from UOT;
4. Moved some apps that I noticed running in the background from SD card to internal memory.
Any suggestion how to fix this? For me stock ROM is good enough for daily use so I'd like to stick with it if possible.
i think you should update your firmware.. dont use v10a.. CMIIW
I'd like to upgrade my f/w but since I don't have unlimited internet access I'll wait til official GB is released. And before I installed rescan media, turned on the usb debugging mode & flashing modded status bar I had no such problem.
Hi, I installed GingerDX v14 7 days back into my Xperia X8i. This ROM is working fantastic and with all function. One problem I found that my phone can not connect with Adhoc Wifi connection with my laptop. When I try to connect the cell tries for 5 to 8 mins and reboots automatically. But with my Wifi router it has no problem. Can some one help me?

@Flypants101010 : yes sir, I also have stock kernel with GingerDX v14. Still now we dont have any option to solve. I searched forum for the solution but I didnt find any. If you get some I request you to remember me please and share.
i have an idea we could change the tiwlan.ini in /system/etc/wifi like in the mod for faster
wifi (N standard mod) it says that the mod enables n standard and wifi adhoc im going to try it!
i use gingerdx 017 and i had try your sugestion, i change to faster mode wifi (n standard mode), but the problem was not solved.
I think gingerDX not yet support wifi hotspot. Can try app like Barnacle from market (saw somewhere in this forumn work well, haven't tried yet).
Well you're luck cuz I don't have any wifi or bt now (after installing GDX v17)
anyway, if you want to connect your phone with laptop I can help there is app called connectify (it's cool really) give it try.
I hope I helped
guys, nothing helped me. the problem remains same. ugraded to v17
do a clean install make sure u do a full wipe and all your wifi problems and bluetooth problems should have disappeared ive never had any problems with wifi or bt when using the method i just told you
Even after clean install of GDx V019, then full wipe, X8 fails to connect to Ad-hoc N/w on my laptop. It fails to get the IP address. But there is absolutely no problem in connecting with wifi.
try connecting to other wifi networks ? maybe its your laptop ?

no dude, I also have exactly same problem as nima7 says. So both of our laptos have same problem?
Ad-hoc
I have same problem, phone reboot after screen timeout while connected to ad-hoc network but it doesn’t happen when I am charging my phone?? Any cure?
just installed gingerDX v021, and the problem goes on...
When connected with adhoc, when screen turns off, it reboot...
Any solutions?
AdHoc Problem
Hi,
I found out the solution, it worked gem for me. All new custom ROMs comes with Wifi N standard enabled and as per developers N standard does not support Adhoc connectivity. So simply we need to disable the N standard if you frequently use Adhoc or you don’t have N standard routers.
Follow this steps:
- Launch Root Explorer.
- go to: /system/etc and find a file named tiwlan.ini(Path for miniCM RC1 or CM6). For CM7 based ROMs the path may be /system/etc/wifi. And copy this file to SD card??
- Now copy(tiwlan.ini) file to your computer via USB cable. And open the file using Notepad.
- Look for these below mentioned lines and change them from 1 to 0 (use ctrl+f to search in notepad)
HT_Enable=1 ---> HT_Enable=0
BurstModeEnable = 1 ---> BurstModeEnable = 0
Single_Dual_Band_Solution = 1 ---> Single_Dual_Band_Solution = 0
(CAUTION: DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE OR USE SPACE JUST REPLACE 1 WITH 0)
- Now copy the edited tiwlan.ini from your computer to your SD card, and then copy this to its original location by using root explorer with mount R/O enabled and replace the original file, and exit from root explorer without any further changes.
- Go to settings from menu and go to wireless & network>Wi-fi setting and clear all the network(SSID) name you used before by long pressing the name and then select forget network.
- Restart your phone and enjoy??
If useful pls hit the thanks button.
thanks dude worked charm for my friend x8
it worked for me after I unlocked my bootloader and flashed alfs 07 ics kernal and used gdx 22 and it works perfectly and better performance
Great to hear this some people successfully connected to Adhoc wifi.

It was a good advice at the time of the writing, but GingerDX v29 already contains these modifications.
I tried wifi hotspot function using two X8 phones, both running GingerDX v29. As I also had "error" always when I tried to start it. Interesting thought my X10 mini Pro (also running GingerDX v29) was working as a hotspot using the same menu item.
Then I realised what is written in the first post:
GingerDX v029 (29-09-2012) - huuuuuuuuge update:
Based on MiniCM shakira device tree
CM nightly dated on 28/09/2012
New devices officially supported from now (Xperia X10 Mini, Xperia X10 Mini Pro, Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-5830 - thanks to CallMeVentus)
Updated Google Play Store to 3.8.17
Removed Nemus Launcher
Added Holo Launcher 1.2.4
Added Google Authenticator
Spare Parts/Dev Tools
Ultra-brightness
Ultra-brightness power toggle
Native WiFi tethering (custom kernel only)

Which was the problem the X8's had. As custom kernels require unlocked bootloader and they should be produced before 11w29 as the guide says:
If your phone's manufacture date is 11W29 or PAST 11W29, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER. IT WILL MOST LIKELY RESULT IN A HARD BRICK

So this can also be the reason. HTH
HI everyone, i'm a Noob here sooo here goes:
I don't know why - but I installed CM9 Alpha 2 on my HP Touchpad and my wireless was working at the time of installation. After using it for a while then turning it off, and on again the wireless stopped working. I can see the wireless signals but when i click to connect it says "Connecting" then back to the wireless name and never connects. It came back, stayed on for a while...then when i reset it again this time to see if it would go off again - it hasn't come back since.
My question: Does anyone know what is going on? Am i missing something or doing something?
Thank you
Im having the same problem...
nightly 3/17
FWIW I have had the same problem occasionally when installing different builds but what seems to help is going into the WebOs and turning the WiFi off then on and then rebooting into whatever Android version I was using at the time. There is also a long thread covering this in the development section with thoughts on how to fix the problem.

No, you've done well...wifi has been a persistent issue with almost everyone. There are several ways to go about resolving it.
1) (from terminal emulator): enter su (hit return) then type the following....
rm (space) -rf (space) /data/misc/wifi (space) && (space) reboot
(Or if that doesn't work...)
(from root explorer): access /data/misc/wifi folder then long press wpa supplicant folder and select delete...confirm delete and reboot
Either of those methods from #1 should allow you to restore wifi but you'll probably have to repeat the process upon each reboot/restart of your TP. A more permanent resolution has been proposed by #2 below.
2) You can also look up Rohan's Supreme Mods v 1.3 (for CM9 Alpha 2) and flash that zip file over your current rom, but be sure to reboot into recovery and make a Nandroid backup before flashing the mod package.
:[MODPACK][3/10][NEW]SUPREME Mods v1.3 [Faster, Smoother, Faster Wifi, Better Battery]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1519161
Make sure you select the mod package that matches your current DPI setting of your Alpha 2 rom and follow his install instructions to the letter.
Good luck!
flash these drivers. should do the trick if you're having wifi issues with the disconnect reconnects.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/18332-new-wifi-driver-ath6kl-from-compat-wireless/
download the file and flash via Clockworkmod, do a nandroid backup first just in case something goes rogue.
another quick fix, toggle airplane mode. usually gets you back going again. As for rohan's mods, try this first. His mods won't help if you can't keep a stable wifi connection.
I'm having this problem also. Very frustrating! I will try all of this tomorrow and report back. Thanks.

Hello Everybody!!!
Yesterday i`ve flashed my SGS from CM10 to the Stable 10.1 of CM.
Now i`ve got some Questions and hope someone can help me ...
First question is about the Hardware-Button "On/off".
In CM10 it was possible to Reboot to CMW-Recovery directly without pushing the combination of Vol+, Home-Button and On/Off-Button.
Is there any option to activate this function in the System-Menu???
Second question: In the settings I`m missing the "Performance" and the "Development Tools" - where you can regulate the CPU-Clokcing, I/O-Scheduler and so on. Are they removed from the settings or have i make a mistake while flashing/upgradinf to CM10.1
My telephone-number is not shown in the "Status-Menu"? Where can i enter my telephone number so that it will be show in the status-menu???
Last question Is there any file in the file-system where i can get the information about a) number of SMS sent and b) how many minutes i`ve telephoned in the current month? Is there any possibility??? In the Google Play Store there are some Apps - so the Apps must get the information, too!
CM10.1 on my device is stock!
Thank you very much and sorry for my bad English !!!
Hi
I hope I can help you.
1. There is the option to set up like that in most roms like aokp, it is generally found in the part of settings where you customize the look etc of the rom.
2.Cant help you with this one
3. Your number isnt always shown. I have never had my number shown no matter what device I am on but for you it might be that you have set your number to private
4.The apps on play store actually keep track of the time spent themselves or they add them up
ngeumnt than
Hi,
at first thank you for your reply ...:good:
1. Okay i will get through the hole menu and hope i find some option to enable "reboot in Recovery"
In the main menu of CM10.1 ==> "System" ==> "On-/Off-Button" are the following options:
- Reboot-Menu (it is active) ==> i think this is the option, but there is only the choice "Reboot" when pushing On-/Off-Button
- Screenshot (active, too!)
- Extended Desktop (disabled)
- Profile-Changing (diabled)
- Airplanemode (disabled)
- Silence (diabled)
2. All of my questions i want to post in "Galaxy S I9000 Android Development > [NIGHTLY][ROM][4.2.2] CyanogenMod 10.1 for Samsung Galaxy S" - but i`m a newbie with Posts < 10, so i couldn`t post it there :crying:
3. Okay that appease me, but what do you mean with "might be that you have set your number to private" ??? How can i do this ??? Is there an option, or do you mean "Caller-ID for outgoing calls" ??? I have tested with showing the number, but it doesn`t change something....
4. Okay there is no recording in the filesystem, instead the apps recording it by themselves ...do you have an recommendation for a app?
Hello again ...
the answer for my Question 1 and 2 is so easy, when you know it ... :cyclops:
To activate the additonal Option-Menus "Performance" and "Developer-Options" you only have to go to the "System-Options" ==> "Over the Device" ==> now you click 7-times on the build-number ...after 3-4 times a text like this is shown "you need only 3 times to be a developer...."
And now magic ...
==> You have the additonal Menus "Performance" where you can adjust CPU-Clocking, I/O-Scheduler and the "Developer-Options" where you can extend the "Reboot-Menu for Boot in Recovery"...
Some things can be so easy when you know .........
Regarding the call recorder thing sadly I cannt recommend as I haven't tried any, I just know from working on roms this info isn't collected by the rom, if you hold in the power button and click on reboot does it give you the option or does it just reboot
No Problem i will test some apps :good:
When you hold the On-/Off-Button and touch on the Option "Reboot" you get two Options "Reboot or Recovery". Then you take the option "Recovery" and push on the "OK"-Button and after a few seconds you get in the CWM-Recovery ...
Do you get the "Recovery-Option" ???
I'm not exactly sure if you asking me if I have the option or how to get it. What u saying is right you should get a recovery option there. My android broken, currently on blackberry so no I don't get the option.
My first question was ,how i can get the option "Reboot in CWM-Recovery" back.
But now (after the trick with pushing 7times on the Build number of cm10.1) i can activate the additional option for my On-/Off-Button.
Oh okay i thought you`re sentence "if you hold in the power button and click on reboot does it give you the option or does it just reboot" was a question...so i wrote the option you get qwhen you activate this function....
But now everything is clear and all works fine :good::good: ...
You`re android is broken? But you will get back to Android???
Yeah my galaxy s, my usb port is shorting ouit so it can't charge, just needa flash stock rom and send it in sometime
Oh that`s bad ...the original Stock Rom you can get on http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
But it i think you know the site
Yeah I know it, I had most of them but windows got corrupted and had to format. just needa download it, thanks anyway
