[Q] Optimus Black Nova version 11c - black screen - LG Optimus Black

Hi Devs and fellow android users!
I recently updated my Optimus black Nova 7 to version 11c (I just updated it now cause I lost my Optimus 2x a couple of days ago ). After installing and rebooting, my android goes into a boot loop. LG icon shows up in screen with black background and Capacitive buttons blinking then the phone switches off then starts up doing the same thing. There's a FAQ about this:
Q. ZOMG, the screen is black and LEDs are blinking forever after flashing, why?
A. Calm down, sometimes happens. Remove battery and try again, it'll work.
Click to collapse
I tried removing the battery multiple times but nothing happens - still doing the boot loop. Also I forgot to do a backup and Debugging (i think) is turned off (since I copied the 11c zip file from my desktop through USB so I turned USB debugging mode off and forgot to turn it on).
Have I bricked my phone?

Update:
I missed this part:
Q. How to use eRecovery? new
A. After powering on start twiggling volume or G keys
until screen goes blank for a moment.
Click to collapse
I am able to boot into recovery now [CWM v4.0.1.4]. I tried installing the zip (11c) from sd card then reboot my phone but it still goes into a bootloop.

Hum... aren't you mistaken Nova rom and Nova kernel ? When you say Nova 7 are you talking about the rom ?

Oh crap lol It's been a while since I visited the site to check some updates.
Thanks for pointing it out lol Yes, I remember flashing my black Nova rom but i think its only 7.
To recap.
1. my Optimus Black is on Nova rom v7.
2. Then I updated my kernel to version 11c (I thought this was rom - my mistake!)
Am I screwed?

Ok so all is explained. Kernel v11c is only for CyanogenMod (Gingerbread). You can't use it with Nova rom (Froyo). So you can stay with Froyo using Nova rom v8 or go to Cyanogen Nightlies (or Kangs by Temasek) and use Nova Kernel v11c.
Hope you're not confused with what I say.

No!
v11 is only kernel for CM7 (Android 2.3)
Nova 8 is a room (Android 2.2) and use a Quasar Kernel

Sorry but im not asking you.

Kernel got reverted back when I applied nova v8 rom. So like what axpira said, v11 is only for 2.3

It says for GB so it should works. But nandroid first.

Works on Zeus, dont know for others, but do a nandroid, in case it's a bad patch/update ...
yes it boot
it seems don't do any change at all, i mean, the battery decreasing 1% about per hour (or more) even when my phone is not in use, just like the original (i'm using the #42,stock kernel)
another note, i tried to flash huexxx's kernel but get stuck on the logo (you know what i mean )
so be careful, at least in my case

Which ICS ROM does not lag?

Hey guys.
I am using an ICS rom at the moment. I am currently on the NOVA HD Rebuild v1.1.0 and the kernel I am using is 3.0.33-NovaKernel-ICS-1.0.7.
The problem with this ROM is that it is extremely laggy. Is that a problem with all ICS roms and should I just go back to Gingerbread or is there another ROM which is not as laggy. I would like to use ICS on my phone for daily use without it being sluggish or slow. Thanks.
Paranoid is the best ICS Rom since 5 days I passed from cm7 to it and I love it. So stable 0 bsod and no lag
Perfect rom

Try xxmrhyde's latest build.
I use NOVA rebuild before, everything is OK except hapetic in game is not good as CM7. I think driver is not full support, alway have problems.

Game is OK ?
I'm using Paranoid with the stock kernel too, very nice.
Not sure if you've made the distinction between the actual rom or just the launcher which seems laggy.
I'm using LG UI 3.0 on Paranoid and for the moment there doesn't seem to be anything else that beats it in my opinion.
miui v4 2.6.1 by bihariel fast and customizable, I use it for two months. No lag, except that sometimes the camera is FC but this' common to all ics try.
MIUI v4 2.6.1 by Bihariel
kernel NOVA EDITION PURE beta1
Paranoid, i also suggest this, i use NOVA before and it was to laggy and cannot multi tasking at all,
Tried paranoid and now i will still stay with it.
(Build 5 coming soon, with some jelly bean theme temporary, hope the dev can morp in the CM10 soon)

Just follow the instructions (you'll need root explorer: linked)
sorry for the late reply.
I have indeed started using the Paranoid ROM and it is not laggy at all, maybe a little unresponsive but overall it is fine. Better than NOVA. What kernel are you guys using? I guess I want one which supports voodoo (I am not sure if voodoo has support for it in ICS).
In my opinion they all lag, especially when opening the drawer.
Paranoidandroid was the smoothest from the one I've tested and it's lag is so subtle from time to time, that it does not bother me.
So from all I've tried now Paranoid build 5, stock kernel and Ram manager or advanced task killer is totally good to go for daily use.
Had only one hot reboot since I'm using it.
I am using paranoid build 5. In my opinion its the best among all ICS ROMS.No lag No unexpected shutdowns.Im loving it here is the thread.

(Q) kernel

Hi, i really confused about flashing kernel to OB v20b.....
Can i flash kernel from the othee version from v20s or 20o...
I want to use diana kernel or marvel kernel but it based on gb 234 v20o
Is it possible to flash these kernel.?
Please help, maybe someone can explain to me and i really appreciate it..::
I am just want to help my friend build his OB

This is exactly what I want to do. I mean flashing Diana kernel to V20b middle east stock rom. Of course we should somehow bring Zeus tweaks settings menu to this mixture
Come on Huexxx !
Why dont you just:
1. Backup your current ROM via recovery
2. Flash Diana kernel
3. push Zeus app on the phone, or install Zeus ROM, back it up with Titanium Backup, restore your backup, flash Diana Kernel, restore Zeus app and maybe you also will need some additional files from: /system/Zeus
If it works, cool, if not, unbrick it with smartflash tool and restore your backup and your back to normal within 10 minutes.

Even latest releases and corresponding middle eastern patch could not match great customization that LG have done to stock rom for this region.
I mean proper right to left menus, keyboard, dictionary, calendar & more. So if I somehow want to benefit from excellent custom rom like Zues, I have to use stock rom that comes with all that localizations and a custom Kernel like Diana.
Thanks

In nova kernel v11c my phone is getting dead for a sometime, I can't unlock the screen and even if someone calls me I'm unable to know about it but for the caller it'll be ringing. I need to remove the battery and switch mobile on... This repeates 2 to 3 times a day.

CM10 (can't remember which nightly I used) doesn't have those problems either.
Apparently ShenduOS is also really good. I haven't had time to test it yet.

you obviously dont know how to use the phone. latest cm10 nightly dont have that bugs, maybe the battery drain but it depends on how you use the phone but my experience with any gb roms specially stock is the same battery life with cm10, so everyone can use it now as a daily driver aside from you caveman who dont know how to use your ob.

nightly from 20121111 or 20121114 have an exelent battery duration, the only issues that I had so far, is GPS takes around 10 minutos to lock a satelite, and the camera crashes every time you try to record a video, photos works great
Does som1 has the problem that the softkeys aren't working?? i did all 3 wipes but they still don't work
Can you guys please tell me what firmware (KDZ/AP+CP) you are using?? or is it a hardware issue??
When using CWM or CynMod7 (boype's) they respond great, but using cm10 they don't work at all (not responding, lights are on!)
I had the same issue and solved formating /system. I'm using RR JB v3.

Doesn't make much sense, if you flash a stock ROM you need to root first to flash a custom ROM and if you want a custom ROM why flash a stock ROM first?

It shouldn't. Never did for me.
Zeus 6.4 or Marvel 9 (with the "There is no delay" patch) were absolutely flawless.
I'd try a full install with a full factory reset.
Either something didn't install correctly or you have a hardware issue.

I dont have the phone anymore, so I cant really help on that... But I think I always used Zeus 7.xx and I always used the non-undervolted kernel (I think it was included in an older version) since I also had problems with "random" reboots on undervolted versions. And I think to remember that Marvell ROMs and the one by CDiederik or DCiers and achyut were quite stable. And IIRC paul also had a quite good ROM for this phone based on GB.

So far from all the ROMS i have tested it depends software version
on Gingerbread Zeus 6.4n is pretty much the best there is( I'm just annoyed by the launcher and GB in overall isn't smooth )
then on Ice Cream Sandwich i'm handing this one to Huexxx's IZS v2 (awesome ROM right here)
lastly on Jellybean i'm handing it to Mackay Reloaded (though it has some annoying bugs )
