Hi guys!
Store-bought Galaxy ace runs on Android 2.3.4. Flashed TheMyth ICS Beta Full 2, worked fine, but went back immediately to stock ROM via CWM Recovery just to see if I can. It was successful. Here's how I went back to stock:
Went into CWM Recovery --> backup and restore --> Advanced Restore, selected image to restore. There are 5 options:
1. Restore boot
2. Restore system
3. Restore data
4. Restore cache
5. Restore sd-ext
After doing numbers 2 to 5 without any problems (already back to Stock ROM by that time), I did "Restore boot" (I did restore boot last). I think it hanged, so I re-booted it, and now it's stuck on "Samsung Galaxy Ace" logo.
I tried wiping, didn't work. I tried "Restore system" in CWM Recovery again, didn't work. Went again into CWM Recovery --> install zip from sdcard --> choose zip from sdcard --> selected TheMythICS_beta2.zip. Installation successful. I can use my phone running TheMythICS.
Now on TheMythICS again, I turn off phone, went into CWM Recovery, tried to Restore System again to go back to stock ROM, it's still stuck on "Samsung Galaxy Ace" logo.
So now I can't go back to stock ROM because it keeps getting stuck on that logo. I am forced to install the custom ROM so I can use my phone again.
PLEASE HELP!!!
I think u should know that themyth has converted ur system from rfs to ext. So u cant restore a stock rom with rfs system.

yeah install stock ROM through ODIN...
you'll get a bootloop again, now wipe the cache it should work fine
Curius7, how exactly should I do that? I already downloaded Odin, but don't know how to go about it.
The instructions here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
don't seem to help.
Newbie here, pls help. =(
Ummm, download the one package file from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-S5830&r=1#regiona
Download the proper package according to your country and baseband if you have a carrier specific phone, if you dont have a carrier specific phone then you can flash any version you like.
After downlading the package, turn off your phone, start ODIN on computer, select "one package " option, click on one package button (it is at the bottom) and browse to the file you downloaded. Download the file I have attached here, change its extension from .zip to .ops (i hope you know how to do that), click on select ops and select the file cooper.ops which I have attached. Put your phone in dowload mode by pressing your home button + poweron button simultaneously, keep holding them until the phone enters into download mode, connect phone to pc, click on start in ODIN, wait until the process gets over, it may take around 4 mins.
ENjoy
Thank you tj_droid. The sammobile link you provided does not have DXKPD, but devilking's website has it: http://themythace.co.cc/
May I download from there instead? The file name is:
S5830DXKPD.1pack.Mysamsung.vn.rar
If all is correct so far, I'm going to open Odin 4.38. There are four check boxes to the left:
One Package
Auto Reboot
Protect OPS
Reset Time (sec)
Should all four check boxes be checked?
Then I click on One Package at the bottom, and open S5830DXKPD.1pack.Mysamsung.vn.rar
Download Cooper_v1.0.zip, rename it to Cooper_v1.0.ops, click on Select OPS, open
the recently renamed Cooper_v1.0.ops, then go to download mode on the phone, plug into laptop, click START in Odin, and wait.
Is that correct? If yes, I have a question about going into download mode. You said home + power button, isn't that going to recovery? I think it's volume down + home + power button, right?
Also, I've read in other threads that it would go into bootloop, so I would have to go to recovery and wipe. Would that recovery still be the CWM recovery? And which wipe exactly? The factory reset? what about the Dalvik cache?
Thank you!

Only check the "One package" box, leave other boxes as they are.
Sorry, for that download mode error(it was a typo), you are right, its volume down +home+power button
Yea, it will go into a bootloop after flashing. Just switch off your phone. Start phone in recovery mode, it will start upon in android's default recovery (CWM gets removed after flashing stock ROM) and Wipe Cache.
Reboot and enjoy
Please press the Thanks button if I helped you
Follow tj_droid's instructions....
I've added screenshots of odin for option selection...

Thanks a lot Curius7 and tj_droid!!! Worked flawlessly except the "wipe cache" part. I wiped the cache like 3 or 4 times but it didn't stop the bootlooping. I tried "wipe data/fatory reset" and bootloop was fixed.
So I guess it should be "wipe data/factory reset" instead of "wipe cache"? Or did the phone simply need a little time to self-adjust?
Also, if I want to install latest firmware (not custom ROM) from sammobile.com or samfirmware.com, is the procedure the same? If it is, can I do it in a way that will not erase everything? that is, my apps, messages, contacts, etc.,
Thanks!

Yes, the procedure is same. Lets take an example- You have a 2.3.4 firmware on your phone. Now you want to flash 2.3.6. All you need to do is switch off your phone. Go to download mode and flash via odin. It will preserve all your data, apps and everything else. And you wont get a bootloop again

Do you have a nandroid backup in cwm? And what combo are you using to enter dl mode?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA
I think this will work:
1ownload original 2.3.4 from anywhere(STOCK!!!) and flash via ODIN
2:Now download CWM 5 and flash it in the STOCK-Recovery.
3:Reboot, but again to recovery!!!
4:Cache Reset/Dalvik-Cache Reset/Factory Reset !!!
5:Flash your ROM (but remember you must look that it fits to your phone!!!)
6:Cache Reset/Dalvik-Cache Reset/Factory Reset !!!
7:If you like to do:Fix Permissions (I do that every time!!!)
8:Reboot and hope that it works
If that helped you, please klick on thanks

yes i am able to get into download mode .i have tried reflashing but still of no use.
earlier i had clockwork mod recovery installed and now when is press vol up+home+power android system recovery <2e> appears.
and also in recovery i am getting this:
upadate media. please wait ...
E: Can't mount / dev/block/stl10
(Invalid Argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount DBDATA:

i guess earlier i was using One Click Lag Fix - 2.0 but i uninstalled it and i probably the file system didn't fully got converted back to RFS..
..am i right???
Have had this problem myself, did you repartition in odin? Not entirely sure how I solved it, but I flashed JP7 from odin (pda, csc and modem) with repartition selected (pit 512) then reflashed it without repartition and it worked
flash back to the rom you came from? when you say 'uninstall' the lag fix, you mean you uninstalled the apk and didn't undo the lag fix? I had something like that before, when i flashed back to the rom that i had lagfixed it on, it worked again.
I have had the exact same error..I was on Darkky 4.1 and wanted to flash the latest speedmod, so I removed lag fix and flashed the speedmod.
Then rebooted the phone and was stuck with the exact same error.
I googled a little and found a galaxy forum.
There a guy gave the solution... I shall now share...
First flash this zimage:
http://www.4shared.com/file/jHJyZZ32/SO_zImage_opt_ext_root_JPM-JP6.html
Using odin (no repartition and no pit file)
If all is well you can get into recovery mode, clear all cache you can find, and format all there is to format (i got on error on one format can't remember which one..) Then when you are done go back into download mode and connect to odin
Then flash JPM from samfirmware (no repartition) and you are back in business (atleast I was)
The I re did the clockwork recovery and flashed darkky 4.1 speedmod again..

4. WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
5. Download the ROM into your SD Card
6. Install the ROM with the "Install ROM From SD Card" menu option.
7. Optionally install the Google Addon

Use LGmobile update tool to reflash stock firmware.
Things you need:
1) LG mobile update tool
2) Phone USB cable
3) Phone IMEI number. You can find it under the phone's battery.
Things to do:
1) Start LG mobile update tool and install the LG P970 USB drivers.
2) Remove the phone battery
3) Hold the Up button and plug in the USB to your phone.
4) Click 'Customer Support' and choose recovery phone. From there, it will ask
you for your phone's IMEI number. Follow the instructions from the tool.
After you are done, repeat what you have done before.
As for step 6. The install ROM from SD card option is found the ROM manager app that you have installed.
Hope it helps
If you have successfully installed CWM recovery 4 or higher, then just press the volume down key while turning on your phone. You should be able to go in recovery mode again which will allow you to install zip from SD card.

You can press the thanks button at my post for giving information but actual credit for a to the developers around here who tried hard to give best with our beloved optimus black. Since our phone doesn't have any hard home button like Samsung 's galaxy phone it was quite good that we can use recovery mode by volume and power buttons.
Also to say, if you plug charger and then turn on your phone and in between you take out the battery from phone, it wil also take you into recovery mode!
thanks,It works

Well, i didn't say it works in CM. The OP seems to flashing CM for the first time. And if stock rom is flashed with this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1206175 .. well, in NOVA rom it goes in recovery mode with power+volume down. But you are right, it is a ROM feature, it's not related universally to the CWM itself. So i am sorry for not explaining this in my post.

I am not an active developer, but that ain't synonymous with noob.
. If you would have known me from other forums, you wouldn't have said as such. But anyways, if you were offended with what i wrote ( i had no intention of that... i didn't even knew you ! ) and if even offended somehow now (even with my explaining post ) .. i would suggest we talk on PM and don't make useless heat over this thread.

hello guys!
don't know if any one have done this before but am sure i did something really stupid!
here i have a galaxy s plus
and i tried to update it to jelly bean!
and just went to "Echn!kan"
and followed the steps ...
but i still get back to the booting menu
and tried it lots of times but nothing happened
and thin i read some where that i should root the system before doing any thing !!!
and that's what i didn't do!!!
so now i have a really a empty phone!!!
dose any one have an idea to solve this?????
Can you tell me exactly which steps you followed and what the current situation of your phone is?
As far as I know you don't need to be rooted before you flash another ROM.
You're saying "but i still get back to the booting menu", do you mean that every time you turn on the phone you end up in the recovery? In that case you are experiencing a simple bootloop which can be solved in a couple of minutes.
u need to have cwm recovery before flashing roms . stock recovery wont work , i think u ended up in a bootloop ... did u made a backup ??
flashing with odin through downlod mode will solve ur problem
HIT THANKX IF I HELPED

Once the installation is finished, install the google apps package by following step 9.
When you finish installing google apps package, select ‘ Go back ‘ and select ‘ Reboot system now ‘.

Relax, we'll be able to get your phone up and running again!
As pretty much everyone so far was already thinking, you're probably just experiencing a bootloop. This is only a minor issue, I've had it too. Just follow the instructions you find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24831012&postcount=1330
If all goes well, your phone should start up in normally again. If you have any more questions just let us know.
Hey guys,
I own a SGS+ and tried to flash a ROM a few month ago.
Not sure which one it was in particular but it was a 4.1.2 ROM.
Normally it worked pretty well but that time it broke my phone apparently.
So now a few month later I tried to get it to work again.
My phone stucks at the splashscreen, easy said.
It boots till the splash screen and then it's on for about 3-4 minutes I guess and then the screen turns off.
But apparently it still runs because if I try to start it again over the power button it doesn't work.
I have to remove the battery, insert it again and then I can use the power button.
I tried several things and I'm out of information here.
So maybe one of you guys can help me out here?
Thanks for reading!
Try wiping cache an dalvik cache and fix permissions. If that doesn't help do a full wipe and install a new rom. If it still doesn't work, flash a stock rom via odin. Also, which recovery are you using?
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda app-developers app
Already did everything you mentioned, multiple times.
Well I used at first CWM 6.0.1.2 then switched to 6.0.2.8, then 6.0.3.2, then 6.0.3.6 and then TWRP 2.4.0.0 and TWRP 2.6.0.0.
I tried those who should be for the bricked phones.
Try to flash a new kernel, then flash a new ROM. You should be able to get into download mode...

That's not the problem.
I can get into download mode, I could get into download mode all the time.
I don't think you got my problem right:
My phone stucks at the splash screen.
Doesn't turn off only screen turns off but the phone is still running.
I can only reboot if I take the battery out.
So it boots up to the splashscreen and stucks.
I flashed a few new roms and nothing worked.
If you can get into download mode, try flahing a stock rom via odin.

Download BroodRom(Not ics or jb just the old GB edition) it's a lifesaver.
1.Go to recovery.
2.Format EVERYTHING(data, cache, dalvik AND system.)
3.Download mode
4.Flash broodrom with Odin.
That should work!

Not really, still the same.
My phone still stucks in splashscreen.
Does nobody else know a solution?
I can flash normal, go to download mode easily and everything else too.
It just stucks in the splashscreen.
Follow my tutorial about how to flash back to stock. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44047896&postcount=2

Maybe you didn't flash appropriate ROM for your device. Read this thread, especially the first post by our forum mate xsensman and try to check if it could be concerning also your device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1890667
Even through I know how to flash, I tried the two links from the guys above and tried them.
Again nothing happened either.
Flashing was okay, everything was fine.
Unfortunately the phone still stucks in splashscreen.
No one else knows what I could do?
verify serial No

Mate, something is strange there. With splashscreen you mean bootloop, right? So you see the logo, but the phone doesn't really loads the Android?
OK, here we go: please remove the battery and write down your serial No and google a bit is it really i9001? There are about 20 different types of SGS so just to make sure which model do you have.
That bootloop can happen for several reasons, but I would assume that in your case it happens either for:
bootloader isn't working properly
you haven't flashed the proper ROM for your device.
I suspect very strongly the bootloader, so re-flashing the bootloader via Odin, theoretically, should revive your phone. Just check (as written above) do you REALLY have i9001, (as otherwise -if not- you could brick it with the bootloader for i9001):
First post, "5. Follow the instruction" (all files there)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32144697
I'm 100% sure that I have a real i9001, not a special edition or something like that.
And I flashed before it got broken a few month and the roms worked just fine.
Well but then it broke somehow.
I just see that my phone with the CWM-Recovery can't format /data and hangs.
Can't do anything unless I remove the battery and boot up again.
Could this be a hint for you guys?

I have no idea what may that be, but are you sure your phone is bricked?
Have you tried to use normal TWRP 2.6 instead of that one for bricked phones?
I don't know, but maybe this helps:
Guide: How to Recover from a bootloop http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660596
@tetakpatak: Yes, I did it like the post "suggested".
@3L4CK_5C0RP10N: No, I'm actually not sure, that's why I wrote "bricked/broken".
I'm not the best guy at those things as you can guess.
No, I didn't tried the normal one, gonna try it now, atleast it's worth trying.
I read the post you linked me here and tried those things, unfortunately nothing happened.
Even tried it with ADB, also no solution found there.
But thanks already for the work guys!
suggest you try the following:-
1) power it down, remove battery, remove SIM card and Ext SD card and press and hold your power button for at least 30 seconds to a min, before reinserting battery and entering CWM recovery
2) In CWM recovery, enter Mounts and Storage and Format every partition, that can be formatted, repeat it twice ( You will lose all your data ) meaning you will be trying to get a clean environment for a fresh start. Do not reboot but pull out battery, press power for a few seconds and insert battery.
If you need your data, in mounts and storage, enter usb storage, here with usb connected to PC you can copy your entiere internal SDcard to PC, for salvage later.
3) get into Download mode, to flash the oldest i9000 Stock ROM 2.3.3 with AriesVe.ops using Odin 4.43 ( with ops ticked) How to flash follow this

Updated to TWRP 3.0.0-0 on Feb 13, 2016.
NOTE: The MTP feature of TWRP causes issues with ADB access while in recovery. You may need to toggle "Disable MTP" a from the "mounts" menu to get ADB access.
TWRP does occasionally give a "failed to mount /system" error. If you get this error, simply reboot recovery and it should work.
Now properly supports all set_metadata functions in newer updater-scripts.

@ketut.kumajaya has provided us with a working zImage which I combined with his previous TWRP attempts to make this recovery.
Please report any bugs here in this thread.
Please take a moment to say thanks and/or donate to @ketut.kumajaya for helping us out.
I have a T210R, so I haven't tested on a T210.
Thank you to everyone who has (and still will) help in testing!!!!
Credits go to:

@Jamison904 for giving us root
@hkjr for getting ketut to help
and of course the Team Win group

Watch THIS VIDEO tutorial for a step by step visual guide for performing the instructions listed below (thanks @Tomsgt for the video).
Supplied in 3 formats:
Odin flashable tar.md5 (for first time installation)
Recovery flashable zip (requires a custom recovery to currently be installed)
.img file (for those who use Flashify or other direct methods).
Instructions for ODIN: (use the one with "tar" in the name)
1. Download ODIN on your computer.
2. Power off the device.
3. Restart in "Download Mode" by holding the "HOME" button, "Volume Down" and "Power" all at the same time (for about 5 seconds).
4. Hit the "Volume Up" to enter download mode.
5. Start the ODIN exe program. Un-check Auto Reboot. See notes about ODIN below.
6. Connect the device via USB to your computer. Verify the device shows as "Added" in the Message box. If it doesn't show then you need the Samsung USB drivers (just install KIES to get them).
7. Select "PDA" then choose the recovery file you want to flash.
8. Hit "START". Wait for Odin to finish (~10-15 seconds). The message area will display "RES OK" when finished.
9. Restart directly to recovery mode before rebooting into OS.(Hold POWER, Volume UP, and the HOME button all at the same time. When you see the Samsung Logo, let go of the POWER button, but keep holding the Volume UP and HOME until you see the recovery screen).
After you get the custom recovery working, you can flash the latest SuperSu zip to get root.
Internal card gets mounted as "/data/media". You'll have to hit "up a level" on the folder list on the left to find it.
Notes about ODIN
--Make sure that "Re-Partition" is NOT checked.
--Auto Reboot can be un-checked if TWRP doesn't flash correctly on your device. Some have reported that un-checking Auto Reboot fixes this issue. If you un-check Auto Reboot, you will need to reboot the device yourself (refer back to step 10).
Instructions for recovery flashable version:
Boot into your previously installed custom recovery.
Select the Install Zip option.
Find the recovery zip.
Flash.
Reboot recovery.
Enjoy your new recovery.
Flash at own risk!!!!

By no means new to android, have a few rooted devices, know my way around ODIN, ADB etc.
I can't get TWRP flashed onto my T210R. I've followed the process, used ODIN, it seems to work, but when i boot back into recovery, it's still the stock android recovery.
Did anybody else get this working? I've tried flashing twice and both times it did the same thing.

Try flashing it in Odin with auto reboot NOT checked. Then boot straight into recovery when it is finished flashing.
Not sure if that will help or not, but I read it somewhere.

Looks good...I'll add it to the OP :good:
EDIT: 2.6.1.0 actually gives a lot of "E: A render request has failed" messages, but it looks like everything is still functioning.
Going to pull 2.6.1.0 attachment for now until we fix the theme.
EDIT #2: 2.6.1.0 attachment restored to OP (it was just missing a few png's).
silly quesiton, but first time flashing recovery (official rom). so after i successfully flash recovery via ODIN, it auto resets and goes back to regular android O/S. how do i go to recovery from this point?
UPDATE: i've tried holding volume buttons down + power key to try to get into recoveyr but just loads normally. seems that i cannot get this working. am i suppose to be able to do this from the official untouched rom?

T210R = T210 + IR remote.
Based on kernel defconfig:
1. lt02wifi: base configuration - T210

3. lt02wifidtv: wifi + digital TV - T210?, South America?
4. lt02wifilgt: wifi + NFC - T210L, Korea market
5. lt023g: wifi + 3G/4G - T211/T215

That's the same build I have and I've flashed back to full stock unrooted several times and haven't had any issues.
The only other suggestion I have is to flash the prerooted firmware linked in post #2 of my CWM thread and then try again. You won't lose any data.

I flashed TWRP 2.6.1.0 with odin 3.07 on my SM-T210. wokrs fine, only thing I noitced is that it is responding slow if you select something.
Further no problems.
