Feeling lazy tell me which ROM my g/f should use - HTC Incredible S

So after realizing I don't have a boat load of time to read through all the sense based roms on the dev page I was hoping I could get some insight. I use aosp ROMs and "senseless" Roms only so I have been out of the Sense based ROM game for some time now. Can anyone reccomend a good Sense based ROM for my g/f to use as her every day build. She currently has Nik's ROM and doesn't like it due to the fact that it randomly resets itself, I'd fix the problem but I'd rather just d/l something new so she can have that shiny new feeling. If anyone could give me some reccomendations I'd greatly appreciate it (and of course a thanks for anyone willing to help ; ) ).
No ICS and no AOSP / "senseless"
Thanks!

If u want sensed rom, stability n working front camera then try ARHD. If u want sense 3,5 then try nik trinity...but its front camera shows a glitch...

Affinity, perfect rom from Virtuous team.

I would use ARHD forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1088498

ARHD would be a good choice

Hahaha.. i totally understand & i warn you, you better get her something that is flawless or it's all going be your fault
My suggestion, 2 of the totally bug free & awesome ROMs out there
- Virtuous Affinity
- DutchDanny's Bindroid
i have used both of the above the longest among all the others & fell in love with both of them.
Affinity has the stock sense look with tweaks & Bindroid has a little extra color which makes for some good eye candy
and of course, there are NO problems with ANY function on either of the above, so your call

Virtuous Affinity if you ask me. It is just as stable as ARHD, but few more bells & whistles. I particulary liked "smooth rosie" tweak...

wanna impress ur girl? then just use nik's rom loads of tweaks and sense features with TRON themed!!

Welcome to thanks town except for you santhospirate as you appeared to not have read my post.

i would say virtuous or arhd. Or you can try niks 2.0, its way more stable than 2.5 (i don't know which one u are using now.

RCMix.Energized is a good choice, Blue style..

Sensation 3D Transitions

Hi All,
I was just wondering if anybody knows of a theme for the IS that included the cool 3D transitions from the Sensation?
I am currently running
S-OFF
Android Revolution HD 1.0.2
HTC Sense 2.1 (3.0 Lock Screen, Weather, etc etc)
Basically all I need now are the groovy transitions. But I don't want to lose Sense 3.0
Was just wondering if it's possible?
Thanks
Dean
A little more;
Ignore the above,
I've seen a video somewhere on this forum (most likely in the DHD or IS dev)
It's was like a 3d homescreen wheel. When swiping side to side the screens moved in a wheel like action as apposed to sliding horizontally. I believe it was a continous flow of homescreens.
Anway I've searched and searched and scowered the forum and I can't find it again.
Does anybody recall this?
(Was likely to have been in an Android Revolution thread) I can't find it anywhere.
Please note, I have watched the n00b video

I dont think its possible to get 3d Transitions like HTC Sensation on IS with And Rev ROM - If u want the 3d Slocrilling effect (n many others) use Launcher Pro from the Maket once installed . On the Home Screen > Go Menu>Prefrences>Home/General Settings>Transiiton Effects
http://geeknizer.com/android-3d-launcher/
Here you go you were looking for number 2
the sense 3.0 ports of incredible s must have that..
or else you can download the 3d rosie pack for sense 2.1 rom from dhd section seo thread..
and all the sense 3.0 stuff..
it would work on most phones with sense 2.1
Thanks all
I found the rosie pack and gave it a whirl . After it booted up I cleared the data from HTC sense to get my widgets back but I still do not have the Bookmarks or People widgets . I have tried rebooting, clearing data again, clearing that cache from recovery (don't recall the name) . Yet these two widgets are both missing .
I presume I can install them or push them ?

those rosie pack are for DHD, they need to be re-written to be able to properly used with the IS. Pushing doesn't work, already tried.
It's working fine. I flashed it through recovery . Can't see any real bugs apart from the two missing widgets. I'm going to get rid of it tomorrow all the same .
Thanks

Thanks!!
Hey. do u have a link/guide how to install sense 3.0 lockscreen and wheater?
i found sense 3.0 rom for incredible s before and i'm using it right now. it looks like sensation, has the 3d transitions. but cannot use sense 2.1 anymore.

Nice Digger, but answer to Your question is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1028
Nowadays we have phones loaded with HTC Sense 3.5 ROM's. If you don't want to use custom ROM then wait 6 days when HTC will officially release Sense 3.0.
Im using Android Revolution HD™ 1.1.9 custom ROM have all the sense 3.0 but not the 3D Transitions :-(

I agree with nsg86. can't go wrong with vu2.39.
Thanks nsg86 for the info going to flash to Virtuous Unity Rom. but before i do that im sure I need to wipe my device and i have about 20+ games installed how can I backup all the save data and any other data that I have.. please advice
why are you flashing vu ? its sense 3.0. Go directly to 3.5, try Rcmix 4 or Nik's Trinity ROM.Sense 3.5 is a lot smoother than 3.0.
You can use titanium backup to create a backup of your apps and their data.Just avoid backing up system apps, only backup user apps.
You can backup contacts using the builtin backup option in peoples and you can backup sms using the builtin option in messages.
My Quadrant result now using ARHD is 2310 and performance is superb. Would like to know on other ROM that is stable and have a superb performance So far came across Nik's Trinity ROM.Sense 3.5 and also vu2.39
I'm using Virtuous Affinity 1.48 and its fantastic; smooth, quick, stable, and so far, the battery is great.
I have it clocked at a maximum 1.15ghz with the virtuous daemon, and my quadrant score is about 1900, better than the stock 1200.
@h3llrai53r, what is your clock speed to achieve such a high score? Or is ARHD just that little bit quicker?

Which Sense Rom have you been most successful with?

Which Sense rom with 3.0 features have you been successful with?
I tried ARHD w/ 3.0 add-ons, and it was fast and smooth, but the battery life can't compare to CM7
What are your experiences with Virtuous, or other roms? Which kernels did you like?
My current favorite is CM7 with the CM kernel, I get 2+ days of normal use, 1+ day of heavy use, 5hrs 30min+ of screen on time! What do you get with your favorite ROM?
Thanks!
I've only tried CM7 so far. I am curious though, do the Sense ROMs rotate the buttons?

Yes, the rotating buttons are a HTC Sense feature and is not a basic feature of Android Open Source that CM 7 is based on.
Nice, I might give Android Revolution a try then.
ARHD 1.1.6 is the best, and I love the gui of MIUI rom
Ehab's 2.3.4 sense 3 ROM has been the perfect mix of performance and battery life imo..
Other sense 3 roms seem to chew battery but this one is great

I'll throw my support behind Virtuous Unity. I have played with ARHD, and i found it just OK, but the full Sense 3.0 experience in VU blows it away.

whats the difference with roms?
whats the difference between gingerbread, sense and ICS? do all the apps still work on any?...
i currently have a downgraded version so i could finally S-off and root the phone now looking at what to use
im guessing the CM7 or Nik Trinity Sensation XL V.4.0 sounds like the go?
There's no doubt that Nik's and CM7's one of the most popular ROMs around. But there are other ROMs like CoreDroid or MIUI. So it depends on what you want your device to feel like at the end of the day. Personally I prefer CM7 because it doesn't have htc sense which boosts the performance speed a lot but due to the less developed camera app, I switched to Nik's Sensation XL because I really need a good phone camera.

I am not agree. I had some glitches with this ROM which I don't have with others.
I found Virtous Affinity more stable and less battery-hungry.
My fav is Android Revolution HD, Sense 3.0, no fancy add ons but very stable, bug free und battery friendly.
I've tried most ROMs.
Miui: don't like the look or feel of it. Too iPhone ish and hence reeks of KIRF syndrome (iPhone envy).
Coredroid: battery drain excessive.
CM7: excellent battery life, geeky interface, no integration between apps like sense, poor in call volume unless you use tiamat kernel.
Sense 3.5 ROMs like niks, virtuous, runny etc: beautiful visual interface, sometimes too much bling making the phone slow & overworked. Poorer battery life, best UI.
ICS ROMs: still experimental, buggy, bad to unusable camera & FM radio. Same geeky interface, and seems worse than CM7 IMO.
Sense 3.0 ROMs like ARHD: best balance between UI, ease of use and battery life.
You may wish to differ in your opinions, but at least respect the other's opinion & choices. See my signature for my choices

First, you're not idiot (I think), between GB (without sense)/ GB + Sense/ and ICS, a lot of graphical changes; that's attractive i think.
Then, you know that Sense is visually beautiful, but pretty battery killer..
Everything's depents your needs: If you wanna have a succesful user interface, choose ROM with Sense, If you wanna have latest piece of cake from Google, choose ICS ROM.
About apps; some GB apps will doesn't work with ICS. And vice versa.
Hope i was helpful
Used CM7 for a couple of weeks. Liked it, but then went to Virtuous Quattro and probably won't look back from ICS. Google Chrome for it is really fantastic to have compared to the stock Android browser.

I can't stand Sense so I've always been a Cyanogen fan from the first moment I tried it. Every now and then I try MIUI but after a day or 2 I always come back to CM.
I like VQ and CM's AOSP settings UI, but I also like Sense's widgets and hate the Sense settings UI.
If there was ever a way (highly unlikely) to combine the weather widget into CM7/CM9, that's all I could ask for as I don't miss anything else from it.
Beautiful/Fancy widgets and the rest of the stuff are nice imitations, but not good enough.

Miui. It's fast, smooth and it's customisation options are unparalleled. I'd say, outside of a sense ROM, it's the most polished available.

[Q] Your dream Vivid

I want to start a thread to find out what the majority of people want for their Vivid. I think we were close to perfection with some of the GB Sense 3.5 ROM's. Now there is ICS... Take the time to tour other devices XDA threads and current ICS ROM's. There is starting to be some really cool stuff out there. Remember, this is just a wish list some or none of this may be currently possible now or ever. Along with all of the standard root, debloat, de-odexed etc, personally, I would like:
OC
Sense 4.0
Amaze Camera/(or other new boss future camera)
enhanced beats/(other sound tweak)
better battery life
Possible new theme selection (which I am told is not possible yet for Sense 4.0)
Wi/Fi Tether
FYI, I saw a cool non-sense ICS ROM out there that has a really cool sense like lockscreen and a bunch of launcher tweaks. It was for the Desire, I think...
AOSP gingerbread or ICS
I love stock and Sense 3.6.

Definitely this.
For starters either Sense 3.0 with ICS or Sense 4.0. Sense 3.5 is horribly ugly and 3.6 is better but the proprietary apps Music, Reader, Watch, etc look MUCH better on Sense 3.0. Just not feeling the bland straight edges and all black.

ICS
Sense 4.0
De-bloated
De-odexed

Better battery life ...
Voice control [like Siri on the iPhone 4s, or better]
Mostly, I'm happy with the stock AT&T vivid [after Rooting & de-bloating, etc] ... I just moved from a mostly stock HTC Rhodium, so Android is a whole new world of fun & learning.
I'm not sure exactly how Siri works on the iphone 4s but you can hold the search button on android devices and it lets you send a text, make a call, look up directions, listen to a certain song/artist/album, send an email, set an alarm, get a map of a place, go to a certain url, make a note to yourself, or google search things. It just doesn't talk to you...

This is from an article... "DiClemente notes that Google is expected to offer something called “Assistant,” as part of the next version of its Android operating system, version 5.0, dubbed “Jelly Bean.” That will be a more advanced voice-recognition search than Google currently offers, with the ability to tap into Gmail, the “Google+” social networking service, etc."
I agree, it would be awesome!
Am running Unlocked, Rooted, OTA, the ICS with 3.6, I like it but would love:
Capychimp's APM from Sensation
more settings on notification bar, like BC's or RCmix3D
a music player that allows sound enhancements over BT
and of course wifi hotspot
I would be happy just with these.
I have already sent Capy a message asking if it was possible to get the APM, and how this old fart can put it on, now to find the rest.
Cheers
Jeff

Think I figured out my issue with sense 3.6

It's themeing! Honestly I like the holo look of ics. I also like the textured look of sense. And it seems while sense 4 is just as intrusive as previous versions, they redid the graphics and tweaked in ics features to blend quite well with the holo elements in tact. However this isn't the case with 3.6. 3.6 really is just a tweaked 3.5 designed to work with ics. Problem is there are 2 themes present here. A lot of menus your seeing holo elements and but you still have textured borders of old sense everywhere in the ui. The result is a ui with a loss of identity. You can install custom skins that help but they still leave a lot of textured sense borders that can't be removed as the skins only go so deep.
I will say overall I like sense and buying an HTC phone I didn't expect AOSP. I think if they couldn't give us 4 than 3.6 should of at least been designed better to blend in with holo elements. And one thing I don't get about HTC is they always remove the overscroll effect. I'm going to root my phone soon and first order or business will be fixing the themeing. I dunno if ill put a custom Rom on yet just want more theming control to start. Imo I don't want a pure senseless Rom as I do like sense

Yeah I've been pressed for time but I've been wanting to learn how to develop for my HTC Flyer tablet and my Vivid. With the Flyer its creating a better stock launcher that interest me as with it being on honeycomb and support being cut off from htc, there aren't a whole lot of choices. For this phone its cleaning up the stock rom and allowing ics and Sense 3.6 to coexist in perfect harmony. No promises on anything yet

I've been trying to mess with the stock rom for a while now with no luck...I just can't seem to get any apktool to work with stock ics of this device, and after a little research it seems sense 3.6 is the problem, but I have yet to find a solution

Yeah htc makes someone nice devices but they aren't developer devices for sure. I'll let you know once I get involved in it what I can do might be why most flash the sense removed roms as its all or none.
Yeah overall I like sense 3.6 just hate the theme clashing. Good example is hitting the search button. All of a sudden your not using sense 3.6 anymore, your now using aosp android! I think I remember reading Google required a certain percentage of holo elements for market access, and I think htc kept that in mind in redesigning sense from the ground up with the one series. But when it came time to upgrade what they had they just basically ported 3.5 over and added a few ics features into the launcher. HTC claims that 4.0 is too different from 3.5 and earlier and previous users need familiarity but Imo if you've played with a one x its all pretty familiar. 3.6 overall was a bad call

My one major gripe with Sense is the lack of changing things. I'd like to be able to (without using LauncherPro) tell it "I want 5 columns, and 6 rows of icons, on top of the 5 at the bottom. (so a total of 7 rows of icons, 5 columns)"
It WORKS well, just see some photo's I've posted in recent days.

I hear ya, but thats all stock launchers including the google one. Sense 3.6 has some of the best customization for stock I've seen, but it still pales in comparison to say ADW EX, Go Launcher, or Apex.
alright...for the longest time ive been trying to use apktool with the "att stock ics for chefs or whatever" never had luck...today i decided to try apktool with an old download of 0.9 holics rom, to my surprise apktool works with it-i was able to install framework, decompile, recompile...it all worked!
so im wondering if maybe the stock ics wasnt properly deodexed, or maybe with holics rom something special was done? when i get the time im gonna try contacting bananacakes and see if maybe he can help me set up a stock base, or possibly use a stock base he may have laying around...ive tried making my own stock rom in the past from the RUU but got the same errors as the att stock rom for chefs...
