I have the SCH-I800. It has the latest software on it. 2.3.6 Is it possible to get it rooted? I tried many online tutorials. SuperOne click didn't work.
Please help,
Thank you,
Chuck Wilson
Are you using the Verizon Tablet? Im trying to do the same thing and i've been trying to figure out which version of these roots will work on mine. Though im on 2.3.5 my build number on mine is i800.0.3
I came into the same problem with my verizon tab with 2.3.6. I had to flash with heimdall to get it rooted.

I just bought a used verizon tab without any verizon service. I think its currently on 2.2. Any way to upgrade it to gingerbread manually? I dont care about rooting, just want to upgrade to gingerbread.
Here is the info on my device:
Hardware ver I800.0.3
Model SCH-I800
Firmware 2.2
Baseband ver S:I800.0.3V.DL21
Kernel ver 2.6.32.9 root (at) SEI-28 #3
Build num SCH-I800.EC02
I have tried Kies and that does not recognize my tab.
Thanks!
Edit:
Ok I think SCH-I800.EC02 might be gingerbread. Im still confused though because gingerbread is supposed to be "2.3" but the firmware shows up as "2.2".
EC02 is not Gingerbread, it's still Froyo (Android 2.2). There hasn't been an official release of Gingerbread for the Samsung Galaxy Tab SCI-I800 (Verizon model). I'm getting very, very impatient and annoyed by it too, especially not that the Sprint model (VERY similar to ours) has already gotten that upgrade and we're still waiting without any details about when to expect it to come to us. VERY annoyed.
Guys read in the development section Verizon users have been able to flash the sprint rooted update and it works

Hi all,
Tesco in the UK are selling the 7 inch Galaxy Tab for £149, down from £399, so had to buy one.
I'd like to root it but not sure if it is one of the rootable Tabs.
This is the information from About Device:
Model number: GT-P1000
Firmware version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: P1000XXJPZ
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XWJP9
In the Mobile network type it says HSDPA
Is this Tab rootable, and if so, which method should I use, and which files do I need to download?
Many thanks
Gaz
Hi Gaz.
I managed to get one last night from tesco too.
Just rooted it using the method on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812367
Very easy.
Now I'm on the hunt for a decent custom rom, but need to install recovery first :s lol

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you rooted it before updating the ROM to Gingerbread in kies. You would have been running the original Froyo ROM, which I believe the method above works for. I don't think it works with Gingerbread.
I don't want to install a custom ROM, just want more control for backing up, removing bloatware, etc.
Thanks
Gaz
You're right (sorry I had missed you had Gingerbread right out of the box). I rooted the stock Froyo version, then updated to Gingerbread via the Samsung Kies updater.
Then I re-reooted using the following:
http://www.review-ninja.com/2011/08/root-samsung-galaxy-tab-7-gingerbread.html
Very simple and works for GB ;-)
Thanks for the link. Nice to know it works. If it works on yours it should work on mine; I just wasn't sure which of Chainfire's kernels to download as he lists several here on XDA and none seemed to match my Tab. I'll give it a go.
Cheers
Gaz
That worked a treat.
Thanks for your help. Always safer to check before doing this as it would be embarrassing if I'd bricked a 1 day old Tab!
Great value at £149. Thank you Tesco!
Glad you're sorted
Yeh kinda impossible to take it back for an exchange if you brick it, seems like the stock is well and truly gone now.
I just bought a Verizon Galaxy Tab I800 that is running 2.3.5 GB. I tried rooting with Superoneclick and it was unsuccessful. Before I keep up searching many forums I thought I would ask to find out if my time searching was no longer needed if this is not possible.
Easiest way is Google odin and download that and than just download a kernel already rooted. Easiest and fastest way

Hello.
I recently got an Orange branded Galaxy S I9000 (baseband I9000BVJV3 and Android 2.3.5). I am wanting to get CM9 installed on it but first I obviously require a root. A lot of the roots I have seen around are for different baseband versions to this phone, though I don't know if this makes any difference. If anyone know a way I could root this phone I would be grateful if you could help me out a little and post it
Thanks!

hi all,
I have a Verizon samsung galaxy tab sch-i800. I have been searching and trying different root methods. My current version is 2.3.5. I can't seem to get any rom method to work. A lot of links are dead from age. Can anyone help me out on a potential way to root this device?
