I love the Note, but I hate the key layout. About half the time, when I wake it up with the power key, I press one of the volume keys as well. Can anyone think of a way to disable the volume keys?
Thanks,
Charlie
why not use the home button to wake the phone up?
Simple answer -- because I did not think of it
search for "volume lock" i am sure you will find something i am using "volume control +" btw... got it worked on my sensation and my bro's gNote
*Usually tapped from my toilet. Thanks HTC Sensation.*

Hi
Does anyone know if there's any way of making the Kaiser power up from any of the other buttons? I find the power button quite fiddly to press so I'd like to try using the button in the centre of the D Pad (or one of the others) to turn it on, but then use S2U (slide to unlock) to stop me accidentally turning it on.
Thanks
Dan
I'm guessing that's a no then...
Settings->System->Key lock
"Do not lock buttons = device will power up when you press any button.
Brilliant - Just what I was looking for!
Thanks a lot!
I was wondering if there was a way to re-map the power button to the OK button so when i want to turn on my x1 screen instead of pressing the power button i press the Ok button or maybe another button?
would this be possible? thanks,
Not sure about the re-mapping, but there's a setting under settings>system>key lock that lets you wake up the device by pressing any hardware key.
I need this too!
Have you tried with one of the several button/key mapping tools available?
Did you tried long pressing end call button? Mine locks screen...
Cheers!
Edit: Try AE Button Plus to map your keys.
so my power button is gone on my htc touch with android. i need to poke the small button inside with a penpoint or small object.
is there a way to re-map the button or another way to turn the phone on from sleep?
My power button is working but I have same concern. Developers, why don't use D-pad key for home/back etc functions? power/camera buttons are very critical because without them you may even have difficulty to enter bootload mode.
Atools will let you remap the keys
Thanks!. I have created an update that set Vogue D-pad as:
Left: Back
Center: Home
Right: Menu
Working perfect on my SuperFroyo.

I've used Atools to remap wake up to other keys but, it only works if i press those keys after receiving a notification.
have you been successful in waking up the phone from sleep without having to press the power button? are there additional settings i need to change?
I also have the same problem - my power button stopped working this afternoon for some reason and I cant wake up my phone except by calling it from another line or restarting it - any idea how i can change the wake up key? from what i gather, the atools fix isn't working?
Exact. Same. Problem. Using Incubus RLS16 (no audio input either... grrr...)
I remapped the power button and it will turn on but only under these conditions:
Phone just went into sleep, after a few minutes no response.
If it's plugged in.
Which makes me wonder... are there two different sleep modes? ie: light sleep which lasts for a few minutes when unplugged, and a deep sleep which kicks in after that, or never, when plugged in.
I only need to wait a few more weeks for my upgrade, but I want to be productive now!
Anyone have a solution to the phone not waking up problem - Ive realized its not my power button..
Anyone noticed if you mash keys you get the phone to do things? For example pressing on the keyboard R, T, and J at the same time acts as the standby button. I've noticed that there is also another button combo to increase/decrease volume and emulate the Menu key.
First off, why?
Second off, what are these other key combos?

Hi
My power button recently sunk into my HTC One and is no longer clicky, making it a huge pain to use. Is there any app, or way to use Tasker perhaps, to catch the volume button long press and lock the screen? It'd be awesome if long volume down would lock for example...any thoughts?
Thanks
