Ok, so I put my foot down and bought a new unlocked/rooted AT&T version off ebay with the following stats:
Model number GT-P1000
Firmware version 2.3.3
Baseband version I9000UGK3
Kernel version 2.6.35.7 Overcome-v4.0.0 #40
Build number Overcome 7 series v4.0.0
I paid $429 for it; I know...but, I really wanted the phone option that came with it.
Can anyone tell me if there's any way to make sure it was indeed a brand new tablet?
Also, are the software versions (ROM, kernel, etc.) alright or do I need to upgrade?
All help is greatly appreciated!

So I have a galaxy S vibrant SGH-T959. I recently updated to the leaked 2.2 and its awesome. So I was talking to a co-worker who has the galaxy S I9000 dxjg4 and he uses that on AT&T but he'd like to get some 2.2 action on it. I wasn't aware of the various different I9000's there were until today, I just thought there was the 4 for the US carriers and the I9000 for everyone else.
What can I load on his phone? Are the ROMs mostly compatible between all the I9000s or are they just as different as one for a vibrant vs his phone?
What is different between all those i9000 models, is each one for a specific carrier? Is there a universal unlocked one that isn't tied to any carrier?
If I wanted to get an I9000, is there any specific one that's the "good" one to get? gets the fastest updates, etc? Where would you even pickup one of those? Do they have a model that does 3g on both Tmobile and AT&T?
Thanks,
-J
No dice? Someone has to at least be able to answer SOME of these questions? Where did you guys get your galaxy S i9000s? Some internet site?
The t-mobile galaxy s vibrant you have doesn't have a front Facing camera and uses a different radio chip to support the 1700 (AWS) frequency that t-mo uses.
The international galaxy s I9000 has front facing camera, fm radio support and uses the standard international frequency.
The Bell (Canadian) galaxy s vibrant (I9000M) is same as the international one except the radio is change to support the North American carriers (850 frequency instead of 900).

Greetings and a Merry Xmas to those that celebrate the holiday!
As a new owner of a SGS I was hoping someone could assist in identifying my particular model and if the Froyo OS update is available for it. KIES was not any help, says this model already has the most current version.
Phone info:
MODEL: GT-I9000T
PDA: I9000TUBJG5
PHONE: I9000TUBJG7
CSC: I9000TUUBJG4
FIRMWARE VERSION : 2.1-update1
Baseband version I9000TUBJG7
Kernel version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Build number: ECLAIR.UBJG5
Again, thanks to any who respond.
recommend you search around and flash to jpy..then flash either the jp2 or jl3 (part of canadian jl2 firmware) modem all in odin.. then do factory reset... then you may have to use sgs info to make sure 850 mhz 3g is enabled..

I invite you to read this post

Hi Everyone,
My first time diving into this forum. Sorry if the answer is out there already, but I couldn't find it
There are just so many threads in here about flashing..
I've had my Galaxy S for a few months now and rooted it with Z4root as soon as I got it. That was easy enough..
What I'm confused about is flashing new kernels to the phone.
As I understand it, these are the details about my phone which I obtained from the "About Phone" menu.
Samsung Galaxy S (Rooted)
Model number: GT-I9000
Firmware: 2.2
Baseband version: I9000 ADJP3
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 (root - SE-S608 # 1)
Build number: FROYO.ADJP6
What do I have to always consider when choosing a kernel or rom?
Is it the current firmware version and the ADJP3part in my case?
For example:
I've been reading loads of websites about flashing firmware and came accross the samfirmware WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm website that lists all the Samsung Galaxy S related firmware.
I think it's pretty good and understand that I should only be looking at the European list in blue as I'm UK based.
Looking down the list I can see:
I9000XXJP3
512.PIT
Version 2.2
2010 August
According to the details I gave above. Is this is the version I currently have installed?
So where can I go from here?.. Can I only install the ones that have XXJP or can I install any of the others?..
Just not sure what to look out for and want to get my flashing adventure off on a good note
My advice would be to read the FAQS on the ROM Kitchin pages then build your own rom .

XXJP modem and CPW csc should cover all UK networks the rests you pick yourself .

I just bought a used verizon tab without any verizon service. I think its currently on 2.2. Any way to upgrade it to gingerbread manually? I dont care about rooting, just want to upgrade to gingerbread.
Here is the info on my device:
Hardware ver I800.0.3
Model SCH-I800
Firmware 2.2
Baseband ver S:I800.0.3V.DL21
Kernel ver 2.6.32.9 root (at) SEI-28 #3
Build num SCH-I800.EC02
I have tried Kies and that does not recognize my tab.
Thanks!
Edit:
Ok I think SCH-I800.EC02 might be gingerbread. Im still confused though because gingerbread is supposed to be "2.3" but the firmware shows up as "2.2".
EC02 is not Gingerbread, it's still Froyo (Android 2.2). There hasn't been an official release of Gingerbread for the Samsung Galaxy Tab SCI-I800 (Verizon model). I'm getting very, very impatient and annoyed by it too, especially not that the Sprint model (VERY similar to ours) has already gotten that upgrade and we're still waiting without any details about when to expect it to come to us. VERY annoyed.
Guys read in the development section Verizon users have been able to flash the sprint rooted update and it works

Hi all.
I have a Korean version of the Galaxy Tab that I'm using in the US.
Model: SHW-M180S
Firmware: 2.2
Basebad: M180S.DL24.0810.ST
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build: Froyo.DL24
What are my options for rooting / firmware flashing? I've searched the forums for the ROMs that I might be able to use, but I don't see anything listed specifically that fits.
If I didn't care about getting the modem working, does it matter which version I decide to use? I know the Korean version have a bit more hardware in it (mainly the over-the-air TV), but I don't care about that either as it's completely useless in the US.
Hey gang. I've got one of the original AT&T Galaxy Tab devices from November 2010. Shortly after I first got it, I rooted the device and installed
Firmware 2.2
Baseband I9000UGJK3
Kernel 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build: FROYO.XWJMI.Roto-JMI-v2
Lately it seems as if the device is running a little sluggish.
What ROM or ROM/KERNEL would you recommend I try next? My daily phone is a CM7 variant on an HTC Inspire 4G. I'm not a fan of MIUI.
Please help, there's so many ROMS now, I'm not sure where to go next

Ooops , overlooked the AT&T thingy Your best bet will be then to read this manual ... It gives specific instructions for the AT&T phones in the 'restocking'part...
