[Q] HD7 ROM Upgrade failure

Hi, hoping someone, maybe Ansar, can help me. I have been unable to load latest ROM from the developer thread onto my HD7. Error 296 , needs a newer NBF File, is reported.

How did you even manage to flash a Mojo build on your HD7?
Thats one of the early beta releases of wp7. Where did you get it from?

The rom you were loading to your hd7 was an early build of wp7, try loading an appropriate rom from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876451

Thanks for the replies guys. The ROM detailed above was on the device when I got it, but as you say its a very early build and very buggy. I have the device as a sample from HTC. I can wait for them to get me an updated version but that maybe sometime, so just wanted a quick solution if there was one.
None of the ROMs in Ansar's thread above seem to work, I have tried the HTC Europe and the Telstra ones, and O2DE, to no avail. Error 296 every time, "Upgrade Only, Try a Later ROM". Just wondering if there was a ROM out there that would work or some other procedure I need to follow. I am not technical.

if you are not technically oriented, why would htc give you a "sample" device???

Er, to see if I would like to buy some?

you could make a goldcard and then flash a stock rom (real stock , not the modded rom's)
there are a view threads about goldcards so just use the search button

I'm in the same boat az you are ! and I have the security unlocked sample of the HD7, so please let me know if you find any solution for this cause also I downloaded all of the roms in RMA and none of them worked with this device.

[Q] HD7 - Basic Questions on flashing and unbranding

First, hi there.... i'm a newbie regarding flashing smartphones.... so please be kind
My phone info:
OS Version: 7.0.7008.0
Firmwareversion: 2250.09.11901.207
HW-Rev: 0002
Radio: 5.51.09.06a_22.30.50.09U
Radio-HW: A.102.0.D4

Provider: o2 Germany
(HD7 bought via o2myhandy)
PreNoDo-Update is installed.
And here are coming the questions :
1. Correct me if im wrong but it looks like my HD7 is branded from o2. (i have the o2 accent theme in my design settings and so on)
2. I want to unbrand my HD7, to get updates directly and not through o2. Is that possible?
3. If that is possible, which ROM should i use to flash? (Is it useful to debrand my phone with an preNodo ROM and update it then through zune?)
4. Can i use the offical HTC ROMs, or du i have to use other ones?

This is exactly what I've been wondering too. The o2 search provider (Yahoo) on my phone annoys me lots and I'm fed up waiting for the 7.0.7390 update to arrive. Shall I take matters into my own hands!

and have updated to NODO successfully
Please Note it seems to work with only HTC HD7 on O2 UK
I had an O2 UK and its seems to unbrand it to European version to get the nodo update
Do make sure you read the post properly again and again if you must , cause I made a few cockups a couple of times but got it right the third time

Whats the difference between the o2 UK and o2 DE ROMs aside the language?

I've also updated my phone and it worked flawlessly!
It's even now offering the NoDo update officially from MS, I presume because the phone is now unbranded.
Unbranding made a big difference to my phone, stripping the o2 logo off the bootup sequence and taking the crappy Yahoo search off IE.
Very happy with the improvement

I am getting a T-Mobile unlocked hd7, question is .. is there a way to unbrand and get NoDo ? If i do it will it get locked again ? ( i used unlock code to unlock it )
Please if it has been posted before, just guide me to the threads i should read.

Did you remove netlock? A unlocked phone will allow you to side load apps. T-Mobile wouldnt do that (its not legal).

I called mobile today to get my HD7 unlocked wil try this

did anyone from germany try that too? i dont know if UK and DE ROMs from O2 differ that much.

Even i have a HTC HD7 US T-Mobile version sim unlocked and im using it in China.Is there any way i can unbrand it and get NODO update?

sorry to barge in luke this but...do u guys have the 7004 firmware??

Had a long chat with the wp7 support staff and they are just a prop...anyways...like u guys know, the nodo update has reduced color depths...so was thinking of going back to the very first firmware...it was quite good and I was in love..i really don't see any significant or drastic change in this nodo...yea the marketplace downloads are fast...copy/paste...thats about it...
So my question, does the pre nodo (7008 namely) update have the same color depth issue???
Or does any1 have the 7004, the very first, original firmware???

I need the very first firmware, namely 7004. But I am in Asia, India. So I don't know which one will work. ALso, I am looking for something that will update without issues.

Under Settings-> Mobile Network -> Edit APN
input cmnet in the first field, leave the rest blank and save.
Also disable 3G connection.
Done

i have a 707 phone also, but would like to switch to european language.

You'll get an English 7004 (WP7 RTM), later just unlock it and upgrade it as you wish.
P.S. remember to flash the phone you need to have it in bootloader mode with the necessary drivers installed, anyway just follow the instruction given by the flash software.
To get in bootloader mode: shutdown the phone and then start it keeping the volume down button pressed.

What means doesn't work for you, if it's an Asia phone you just need to put it in bootloader mode and flash it, nothing to do with your OS version.

I was Searching the xda forums, and all over the internet, but i couldnt find any way to jailbreak My Tmobile HD7, The device is already Carrier Unlocked but not Jail Broken, the details are:

would be to just install a Custom ROM.

as long as you have RSPL or HSPL installed...
you can flash any HD7 ROM.
just remember, flashing a Shipped ROM will rid you of XSPL.
