[Q] titanium backup pro freeze and defrost - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Cannot seem to freeze or defrost apps properly. After following tutorials, changing permissions and app processing mode I can now freeze but it hangs on defrost. Someone else has a similar issue here...
Any input?

Same issue here. Shame because the app wasn't cheap and isn't defrosting properly.

Uhhh, stupid question:
Did you root your Note?
Or is that to simple?

It won't do anything without root, so I'd guess it's poorly coded for the current Note firmware.

I don't have any issues with TBP on my device. I'm using rooted stock ROM (2.3.6).

So freeze AllShare then defrost.
Does that work? It doesn't for me with the identical setup.

Mine is DXKL3, flashed it using Mobile Odin Pro with EverRoot option checked.

it's an issue with KL7! hope it'll get fixed in future updates or newer firmware! pretty annoying

Same here.
SystemCleanup works fine.

checkROM rooted and abyss 3.0. doesn't work :-( Hmm.

Using RocketROM v15 + Abyss 2.8 and i get the same problem as well. I stuck at freezing but when i quit the app and went back to check, the app is freezed. Not sure about de-frost though. Don't see any reason to defrost apps once freezed.

I'm on XXKL7 and i can't defrost the apps that i freeze as well

I am on XXLA4 and can't defrost apps once they have been frozen.
I really messed things up by using Bloat Freezer as well - LOL. Can't defrost anything frozen by Bloat Freezer or Titanium Backup.
Also, Titanium is restoring System Apps into the /data/app location rather than /system/app
And I get the feeling that the OS is unfreezing critical stuff. Or what it thinks is critical...
SD-Maid is reporting corpses from some frozen system apps. This is not good...
.

I still get this issue too in ics chinese version.

I reflashed XXLA4 ROM but still the applications are frozen. I don't know enough about how Titanium freezes stuff...

**** FIXED ****
Use the info from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22695944
And note my additional comments: With a Galaxy Note running XXLA4 I find the text is {enabled="false"}
Interesting that YouTube, Maps, and a few other apps are marked: {enabled="true"}
Everything worked OK when I just deleted the (enabled="false"} ... Thanks OP

Its more easy to use power defrost than manually change packages.xml
You can use power defrost in batch -> run power defrost.
Its still need to reboot though.

FM Radio Cyanogen 6.1 RC1 no sound?

Hey guys,
I've got a problem on my Nexus one running Cyanogen 6.1 RC1. Basically I wanted to try out the FM radio so I plugged in my headphones and no sound comes out at all. I went on the setting and changed it to UK, I've used loads of different headphones, bluetooth is definitely on etc and I have no idea why it won't work. I watched loads of videos of people just turning their FM radio on and it just works straight away.
Any help?
Thanks
You did turn the radio on, right?

Yeah pressing the power button right? Because it says 'turning bluetooth on' when I do and then nothing. I press the loudspeaker on/off so many times to no avail.
Strange, works fine for me.
I have noticed some apps behaving weird with some of the nightlies, and usually a clean wipe and clean install fixes...
You probably don't want to hear it, but that's about all I have to offer...

titanium backup pro. it costs very little, and restores with a press or two.
i've used the fm radio app on my n1 several times, on several roms, and it's fairly consistant / fast / usable. currently i'm using 6.1 RC1
Use TuneIn radio from the Market. Its the best radio app now in my opinion.

I've actually got it but I don't know I guess it's kinda like when you format a PC haha.
So how would I go about sorting this? Wipe data and reinstall ROM?
Is anyone else having problems selecting the normal radio stations? All of my radio stations display with an even number in the decimals place even if I manually enter in a radio station with an odd number in the decimals place, e.g. 103.2 instead of 103.3. I'm wondering if this has to do with the 5_12 kernel that I'm using. Thoughts?

Use Titanium batch option to back up all your apps and data. Install new ROM (first back up current ROM, just in case). Flash latest gapps. Install Titanium, and batch restore apps and data. Reboot.
I use App Monster to make a backup apk of Titanium on my SD. That way, when the new ROM is installed, I can skip the setup process (touch 4 corners at touch android screen, clockwise, starting at top left), open a file manager, install the backup Titanium apk, then restore everything. If you don't do this, you have to add all your details to log into the market to dl Titanium again, and then all your apps start to auto install without data... :-/

use dsp manager to see if it's a setting. if not, flash cyanogenmod 6.1 RC1, after using ti backup. the pro version will let you re-install all your applications AND settings easily enough.
nandroid is something you should do before anything else, and if you have, try reverting to an earlier known good setup.
personally, titanium backup + flashing fixes everything.

I did this but it won't let me uninstall the FM radio so it didn't do much...
You can uninstall the FM radio via Titanium or Root Explorer. Reboot, and then reinstall.
I prefer to simply add .bak to the existing apk file in the system/app folder, using Root Explorer. That way, if the new install doesn't work, you can always rename the old file back to its original name...

I did it and it simply didn't work. I installed the latest Nightly and it worked however Titanium backup was restoring really old apps and kept on restarting when I was restoring some apps so I recovered using nandroid, deleted all older backups, made a fresh copy, made a new nandroid copy and now retrying - fingers crossed!

O2x is Not satisfying

Hey all. I got the o2x for two weeks now. After the first week i decided to root it because lg stock ROM is ****. I am still Not satisfied! It is slow and laggy imo. Im currently using gilgamesh 1.2 ROM. I really think about getting another phone. I had a desire and to be honest this phone is Not really faster. I Eintrag care about playing games.
Sorry for my bad english.

well, then u should sell it now, get a good prize and wait for htc sens. or samsung sII
I had the amoled desire and this O2X is faster by miles. I think you didn't organize your apps properly.
The LG Stock ROM is **** I agree. I replaced the homescreen with LauncherPro and froze unwanted bloatware on the first week. The whole phone system is now much faster and light without custom ROM. Love it!
Not laggy
LOL dont know what your doing to your phone but 2x is one of the fastest phones on the market and may well be the fastest. You think this phone has problems i had 4 Sony Arc they are a nightmare soo many issues and problem with screen coming away from it housing, the LG 2x is well built and fast as hell cannot waiit for it to get Gingerbread and then Honeycomb will make this phone rock and roll even more
kan someone explain how to remove the bloatware from the LG ?
im still stuck @ factory rom, but i dont feel like flashing a new one
Root, install Titanium Backup and use it to remove the things you don't want.

1) get root
2) freeze/uninstall apps using Titianium Backup / use Root Explorer or sth like that if you know which apk's you don't need and simply remove them (remember to remount /system in read-write mode)
This phone has a rubbish stock UI but great potential, it makes it more a phone for geeks rather than the masses. I've rooted and loaded CWM along with applying the dexopt fix but am yet to go the whole hog, I'd rather see what tweaking stock does before i take the whole leap of custom roms.
By the way does anyone know where the facebook/twitter/myspace apps are so i can get rid of them? I've tried Root Explorer and Titanium but i can't see them...they are just unnecessary bloatware for me.
The apk of Twitter&Facebook by LG is called SNS.apk or very similar.

Well. I learned a hard lesson yesterday. I could root the phone and uninstalled bloatwares as I wanted and everything worked fine... Until I decided to do a factory reset. The first-run setupwizard cannot find a certain app and crashes at beginning (I think it was LG Home, not sure though) left me with endless bootscreen. After hours of headache finding solution to fix it I got the phone to revert to factory settings with nvflash. Now I don't remove system app anymore but to disable them. Easiest by "freeze" them with titanium.

Without Clockwork Recovery my hands are tied. The market version of Rom Manager does not have a compatible version and I totally missed the one posted in here
I don't know any other way to push files without using Clockwork :/ If anybody knows please teach me.
ROM Manager supports both the G2X and the O2X

Bionic 5.5.1_84_DBN-55 Auto_DeOdexer

For those of you that do not want to DeOdex their phone manually, here's a script I created to do it for you. I've created this same script before for the Droid X, and it's quite simple. Here's what you need.
1) Your phone must be Rooted.
2) You must install Bionic_Bootstrapper.
Below you can find these items.
COMPLETE GUIDE TO ROOT AND BOOTSTRAP
Once you have that.... download my DeOdexer and put it on your sdcard.
Bionic_AutoDeOdexer
MIRROR
Reboot into recovery. BACKUP YOUR PHONE!!!!
Once that completes, then go to install from zip. Choose file from zip... find the Bionic_DeOdexer zip file... and run it.
There is a script at the beginning that checks the build.prop file and makes sure you have the correct build. You must have 5.5.1_84_DBN-55. If you do not, I hope it fails.
Reboot.... and all should be good. Now that you are DeOdexed.... have fun theming!
As you should know, do this at your own risk. Yes, I've tested this on my phone and had no issue. This doesn't mean you won't experience a problem. I'm not responsible for what happens to your phone.
ENJOY!!!
Worked great. Saved me a lot of time from manually deodexing.

Have you removed or touched any of the system/app/ 's ?
I'm running the rooted stock rom. I haven't removed any programs or modified/renamed anything in /system/apps, however, I did freeze some of the bloat using TB. Do I need to defrost the apps first before running this script, or does it matter?

If you modified any of the APKs, to include freezing them, I cannot guarantee it will work. Best thing is to be completely stock and rooted. At least that's the way I did this script.
Thanks for the answer! TB has a batch defrost, so if I decide to go ahead & run this script, I'll defrost everything first.

Good to know. I do know that depending on how the person downloads some packages, they may get corrupted during download. If it fails one time... try again. If it continues to fail, re-download and try again.
So the file isn't available any more?

Worked great here, didn't unfreeze anything before running it and no problems to report.
Kind of a goofy question, but is there any reason that deodexing the stock (rooted) rom would worsen data loss issues?
The reason I ask is that I reverted to stock yesterday after experiencing substantial data problems with UNLEASH3D 1.5. Ran well for the entire day and this morning. Then, a couple hours ago, I ran this script and have had nothing but issues since, with both WiFi and cellular data dying, and not coming back without a reboot. Reverted to stock again, and all is normal.
Any ideas?

I have these same issues on stock, on .892 and on any roms - I really think it is just the phone :/ - there is a known bug on the bug list about data connectivity issues.
Btw the .892 radio is complete crap.... at least on my phone it is...
Market Apps
After running this script, I noted that my normal list of around 60 or so market apps is now showing only around 13 apps. Also, the market app asked me for authorization when I started it up. So, I don't know if this script, or maybe an automatic update to the market app has caused my missing downloaded apps.
They are still on the phone, and still backed up with TB, but they are not shown in the market My Apps page.
Any thoughts or solutions?
Corey
...Argh, never mind, this phone seems to have a mind of its own. The account chosen for My apps was not my main google account but another one. Not sure how this happens, but I find little things like this all the time with Android. My favorite is that my email delivery settings (push vs. manual vs. schedule) seem to change on their own!

Stock HTC ROM

I flashed the stock htc rom i downloaded from here and then got titanium backup and uninstalled a bunch of apps i was never going to use, like the original internet, email and kid mode apps) and they keep reinstalling themselves. What am i missing and how do i make them disappear forever?

I have not tried removing system applications using TitaniumBackup on my HTC One, to be honest with you, and I am running stock, non-rooted and odexed 4.2.2 which I am going to root in a few. I think the only option you have at the moment is to freeze them until you can figure something out. The only other option I could think of is installing a custom ROM which I believe lets you delete them without having to worry about them coming back, like TrickDroid, for instance.
Tried to dl that app yet? I had the same prob when running stock for a while. Sorted my issues.

Factory Data Reset does not restore deleted system apps. Until an odin/oneclick is released for MJ5, your best hope is getting the apks from a phone that is on MJ5. I'd hook you up but I'm happily rooted on MI9.
