Have you tried tubemate?
You will need to go to the Amazon app store or directly to the developer website since Google pulled it from the market...
Here is the dev website: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...VpYzL8cxlLcGtqrSw&sig2=7D9i_d5wgvCBt-8-B59cEg
+1 for tubemate :-D
Thanks, that's exactly what I've been looking for.

You can easily convert any YouTube Video to YouTube to mp3 format with the help of online converters. But, how to do it without any third-party software? As you know, all the third-party software developers are trying to make money from their software. They want you to install their software and use it for a long time. They don’t want you to easily convert your YouTube Video to mp3 format. So, to save your time and money here is a trick that will help you convert any YouTube Video to mp3 format without installing any third-party software. There are several websites that help you to convert YouTube videos to mp3 format without any third-party software. All you have to do is follow some easy steps.
I would suggest By Click Downloader - it's one of the best converters, in my opinion. Also, I recommend checking this article about the best youtube to mp3 converters for additional options to compare.
Hi there! If you're looking for an Android app to convert YouTube into MP3s, I'd like to suggest checking out a website called CrazyConverter.com.
It offers a reliable and efficient YouTube to MP3 conversion service. Simply visit their website on your Android device's browser, paste the YouTube link into the provided input box, and select the MP3 format. The website will handle the conversion process for you and provide you with a downloadable MP3 file. It's a convenient option for converting your favorite YouTube into MP3s. Give it a try and see if it meets your requirements. Happy converting!

Can the camcorder on the Dream record in mpeg4 or wma format?
If not, then is there a way to convert the native video using the phone, so I can then email the converted video immediately afterwards?
I very much doubt WMA will ever be able to record, Maybe a third party app can do mpeg4, As far as converting, best off taking it off sd card to a pc. I wonder if ffmpeg could run on android. but i would be afraid, and it would take 4 months to convert the video
I believe the camera records in .3gp
If you are on a hero build you have the option of mpeg4 or 3gp. If you are on cupcake it is just 3gp.
Thanks for your replies. Im on cupcake so just 3gp it looks like :-(
I wanted to make a short video and share it immediately via email to work colleagues (who dont have the luxury of a media player that can play 3gp, and work computers block all streaming video from the net, so uploading it somewhere is a non-starter).
I'm a novice but have flashed a few different roms onto my G1 - can anyone suggest a stable Hero build that's not too laggy and awful (as I gather most of them are)?

JACHero and TouchFlow 3D are the ones to go to. If the co workers are able to download anything just tell them to download vlc player it has all codecs built in.

I'll look into these roms, thanks.
Unfortunately my colleagues can't install anything on the work computers, so VLC player is out of the question.
Sorry, just noticed you said that Youtube wouldn't be an option. You could still try Qik - perhaps it's not blocked. I'll leave my post as is...
Another option would be to use the YouTube upload option and then just send them the Youtube link to the video.
Or, if you'd rather keep the file from public viewing, you can use the "Qik" app and upload it to a private Qik file and provide them with the password.
You wouldn't have to worry about converting the video at all that way and everyone could play it.
Depending on the length of the video you might be able to send it to them as an MMS.. I'm pretty sure .3gp is a standard format.
Another thing to consider, if they have quicktime installed on their computers it *might* be able to play the .3gp... well, let me rephrase that, it should play it, but might not have the proper codec for the video so it may come through as audio only, but it's worth trying anyway

PortableVLC ftw
I have a few different video converters that I legally own, but none of them list the Xperia X1 as an option. What other media device would be the best option to convert my movies to? And if you don't mind getting technical, what would be the best video size, compression, video and audio quality, etc.? Thank you.
WMP is the only player that is hardware accelerated on the Xperia. Convert your movies to mp4 with this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467590
For other formats use CorePlayer or its free version TCPMP, but be mindful that the playback will NOT be perfect. CorePlayer is perfect for YouTube vids as well.
P.S. Use search next time. There are dozens of threads about this. The link I posted is a "sticky" on the front page...
I did use the search, but couldn't find any specific data so that I could try and create my one device format to convert it to...like for CloneDVD Mobile. But thank you for the link.
I tried some sites and discovered wp7 video player can play mp4 and 3gp vids but not avi ones.
I wanted to try write an app for homebrew to collect online movies such as http://www.mp4mobilemovies.net/.
Does anybody know other sources which might include some series too?
check out icefilms ... they apparently have an API of some sort since XBMC plugins are written and some android apps also tie into it .
edit:
i completely missed the point on that one haha
im pretty sure icefilms uses avi . my bad
I need your help with this app, well mostly the content. So now google play offers movie purchaces but in order to play them back you need to install Google's Play Movie & TV app, basically a video player. The app works well and all but i am wondering if there is a way to play the content on the tabs stock video player. I want to take advantage of the 5.1 sound. Once you purchace the movie you are able to download it but i can not seem to find it anywhere on tab and it is not on the download folder. I used root explorer but no where to be found. I also tried launching the stock video player but it only sees the sample video that came with the tab. Looking forward to your suggestions.
Hi,
I might be wrong but doesnt that just steam the video when it tells you it is being downloaded, this could be the only way you would watch it but not find it after that in the file system.
Have you checked the players file system?
Not to promote piracy but would it not be easier to download it over torrent and watch it with your original player...

I have looked for the players file system but i can't find it either.
Tried to use torrents but they are a bit annoying to use so i would just rather pay for the movie, i dont mind really.

Which file formats are supported by Sony Movies? It can not play popular movie file formats, it seems.
Any recommendations for a better alternative? I am not looking for one which has the most features or the fanciest, but easy of use, low resources usage, and popular file formats support.
All right, I found this somewhere: MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV player.
It does not play my *.wmv. My version is 5.0.A.08. I'll try another one.
I find movies plays all my files, however, you can try
MXPlayer
or
VLC player
I settled for the VLC player. Thanks! After I installed it, it recognized and played my video files instantly and before even rebooting,
VLC
So I found that VLC is called a beta but it works actually reliable. It plays not only videos but also music. It has a real interface which is similar to many other newer Android apps, and it has real settings, such as to define the media directories. I hope the release edition will not go the way of a heavy pig, as some other Android apps did.
Deleted Movies and Walkman from my phone.
Thanks again for the advice, Greg. Getting more familiar with things.
