How to create shortcut to file

Hello,
Does anyone know how to create a shortcut to a file on the Android home screen?
Basically, there are several pictures/maps that I refer to and I would like to be able to click on an icon on the home screen that would open up a certain program and load the picture.
I haven't been able to find any apps. I'm using the File Manager app but that will only create shortcuts to folders. In surfing the web, it appears there use to be an app called Any Cut which allowed you to create shortcuts but it's no longer available.
Thanks for any assistance.
+1
any help here looking for the same thing for my atrix. I want to directly open either an excel file or a pdf
Use Astro file manager or EStrongs File Explorer. I believe they both allow that feature. You can't set it directly from Android launcher.
LauncherPro
LauncherPro supports this feature, if you're willing to change your launcher. Not sure about ADW Launcher, but from what I've heard has many of the same features as LauncherPro.

[REQ] Valut or Secure app

Preferably free but not more then 10 bucks am looking for an app that I can securely store my bank account information and passwords I guess. Desktop sync is not needed but would be nice.
KeePass Droid just doesn't do it for me. Even an encrypted notepad would do the trick.
Hey What I do for such things is to just get a file manager that can open docs and make a word document and save it encrypted. It works great. You can also do same thing for pdf. If you don't know how to encrypt then google it. So all you need to do is:
1) make doc with whatever info.
2) save it encrypted
3) copy it to phone sd
4) open with file manger and type in password to view it.

LAN File Manager other than Astro ES?

So I'm trying to open files from my LAN... What a pain.
EStrongs: Doesn't really support Domain logins. ie: domain\username So basically unusable for my needs
Astro: Cannot open any files. Get java errors and crashes. But at least I can logon to my domain. Even opening a basic jpg gives a blank screen.
Ghost Commander: Love this, log on to my domain, VERY fast. Can't open files from the LAN though, have to copy to SD first.
Anyone else have a suggested file manager that can do SMB, domains, and open files from the lan?

Click to collapse
You can try File Expert free from market.
it works pretty good for me on Gtablet.
Close, but none of my office docs will open directly. First have to download with my browser then open.
Real nice and fast interface though. Did let me logon to domain.
linda is a good explorer, but not sure about the domain log in.
have you tried ES File Explorer?
try File Expert

CIFS
Use 'Cifs manager' to mount any SMB share and view content locally without having to actually transfer it.
EDIT: works for streaming network shared movies, music, reading and editing documents, installing apks, etc.

ES File Explorer Remote Manager doesn't work

Hi All,
Had a Galaxy S4 forever, but it died a few days ago and I've picked an S8. Nice phone, bright screen, faster than the S4 and I don't have SSL issues with the browsers.
I was running ES FIle Explorer Remote Manager and an FTP client on my Win7 computer (Wise FTP-6). It was easy to transfer files from one to the other in either direction.
So I have ES on my new S8 and the Remote manager isn't even listed in the menu. So I found the APK file that I was using in my S4 and installed it into the S8, it installed without issues, version 4.1.7.1.16 (market).
Now that I had the identical file on the S8 as I had on my S4 I figured I had it beat. But it still doesn't show up in the menu. Having the S4 and S8 side by side and doing the same thing it is clearly missing from the menu.
Anyone know why this is? Is there some sort of permissions I need to turn on in the S8 to let this function work?
Thanks
OK, looks like I figured it out. They moved it to a new menu and renamed it to View on PC. It doesn't have the same functionality of the one on the S4. It's missing the ability to rename it from Anonymous and no way to add a password. It has the button to make a shortcut, but it doesn't work. It lists the client name as Anonymous with a capital A but it's really anonymous with a small "a"
But I've got it to work so I can transfer my files back and forth again with ease.
Thank goodness.

Question Simple way to transfer file from phone to watch?

Hi. This should be straight forward, but I'm not finding it so using Oneplus 7pro phone and 5 watch. Right now I change the file name to ".mp3" and use the galaxy app to move the file, then change the name back on the watch. What's a better way?
Solved: MyWear File Explorer on both devices.
Via adb wifi "push" comannd
