Hello,
I'm curious as to the stock voltage of the captivate's CPU at 1Ghz. I've done some searching, and can't find it anywhere (maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places)
Because my 24/7 setup is:
Cyanogenmod 7
Launcher7
Glitch v13.1 kernel
1.4Ghz @ 1.325v
1.3Ghz @ 1.275v
1.2Ghz @ 1.25
1Ghz @ 1.2v
stock down the board from here
I/O scheduler: noop
Conservative governor
I'm just curious as to how much damage I'm doing to the chip, I'm not sure if 1.275v is the stock 1Ghz, just came here to check.
Thanks
(With the phone at 1.4 and running cyanogenmod, it absolutely screams, scores >2700 points in quadrant. It's no sgs2, but it holds its own)
1ghz stock is 1275mV
Here you go with all the defaults

Thanks guys
I remember reading somewhere that 1300mv was the max safe voltage.

Could you source that for me? I normally run 1.325 for 1.4

I heard from someone else that told me where he heard it. I don't know where you might be able to find official documentation on it. You could always email Samsung.
Technically anything past 1275mV and you are shortening the life expectancy. Don't really need to know much more than that. Simple rule about OC any device. More voltage and/or heat the more you kill the life of it. Since no one knows "that" number per device it comes down to how much you are willing to gamble on it.

This is true. Electromigration would take years on the 40 (or 45, I forget) nanometer chip, especially if it does not maintain that clock constantly. And temperature remains at hand because it only peaks at 1.4 in short bursts.
Thanks for the reply, I think I'll just keep it where I have it and not go any higher.

Your quadrant is not an accurate depiction of speed. You want faster flash a 2.2 rom then flash oc kernel. But from your set up description I would suggest allot of reading and allot of questions before you start
I mean no offense, you want a fast phone, not a dead one

+1 on reading up...There is soooo much to take into account on what you have to do with your phone..to get it all to work right...Sometimes you get lucky and everything melds properly...other times you don't..and get nothing but instability...Mostly though...it's all trial and error finding what works best for your phone...since no 2 are 100% alike..

Ok, so where would I start? I have some very basic knowledge of roms and flash.

Some people were hitting 2400-2800 with that set up, and it had WAYYYYY more lag that the ex4 fixes now that score like 1400-1700 lol.

I don't really feel like when I am using my phone that it is running slow. I actually decided to run a linpack and quadrant test because I saw someone on here getting 5 something MFLOPS and a 700 something on the Quadrant and I thought my phone would out preform when in all actuality I didn't come close... I am running AOSP's newest version of Gingerbread with Darktremor's latest version of Apps2SD and kifno's Build.prop v0.8. So does anyone know what I might have done wrong or what I can do to help improve my phones speed?
Thanks in advance for any and all help offered.
PS. I have my phone overclocked to 768 MHz with SetCPU.

Anything much over 475 on quadrant is a dream. Whoever said that they got 700+ is a liar, and you can tell them I said so.

I feel quad scores are useless in telling how quickly your phone feels to you.
The second you run a quad score test... is the second you think your phone is slow.
Also I've seen some people suggest that a recent update to quadrant made everyones scores go down... I have not personally used it, just reporting what I've heard.

Benchmarks are useless. Also, the Hero is almost 3 year old tech.

I don't care for benchmark scores, but some do. But when testing something out on mine I had 635 in quadrant. I'm sure I could have made some more changes and gotten it higher, but to me it ran just as fast as my pre-testing state.

Have you set up a task Killer? Don't troll at me but I firmly believe it helps my phone run, but i have noticed AOSP's gingerbread is a step down in speed from the Froyo Rom

Using either of the cm6 roms either 6.1 or 6.2 will give you better scores. I have noticed that my fps on a sense rom are better than with cm6. If you want higher scores go with anything that isn't sense based. Personally I run cm6.1 as I was having some issues with text messages not coming through on 6.2.

for seemingly no reason whatsoever. yesterday it did it when the cpu was at 95 degrees Celsius, but today it did it and the cpu was only at 71 degrees. note that 71 degrees is not much for my computer, it usually sits on 80-85 degrees.
anyway, i'd just like some help, i know its not related to phones, but surely someone would like to help a fellow android user in need
THE 90s ARE BACK!
prebuilt computer fail ...
a lappy that heats up to 80-90 belongs in the garbage .. good news tho , its already headed there(pretty fast too)
Haha, should I go get it replaced under warranty?
so listen ... the 96 mhz you got there is the cpu throttling down itself to prevent it from turning into coal
according to the ark the shutdown temp is 100C so it should be throttling down at ~95C (core temp)
in your monitoring program your cpu case temp is lower but individual core temps are usually higher by 15C .
also , cpu case temps above 67-72 for prolonged time will cause perm damage , maybe thats why its shutting down earlier and earlier
any kind of solution to this? i already have a logitech cooling pad thing, but what else?

i dont think that would suffice ... theres either alot of dust or some crack/disconnect in a heatsink or a fan is dieing
you can try canned pressured air if youve had the lappy for a good few months for dust
Im taking it back tomorrow to the retailer, see if they can replace the cpu or something

Guys with a rooted HTC One, please confirm what CPU governors are supplied by default on the device also what IO schedulers
ie: ondemand, interactive etc...
there should be an MSM-DCVS governor which would bring the most performance out of the device
please confirm
you can find out by apps like SetCPU, trickster mod and system tuner

yes it doesn't mean much
GL benchmark already demands full performance regardless of the governor, unlike 99% of games which require CPU governor change to prevent fps stalls usually caused by ondemand governor
but i was still kinda hoping...
anyway many thanks mate, very helpful :good:

Seems like the fps is locked down on 34fps on kernel level. If this was the maximum the gpu could provide it should fluctuate to lower or sometimes higher score instead of giving a consistent 34fps score.
How It is posible to get up to 5000 points in Antutu ?

Easy: find a kernel that will work with your P970 and flash it to your phone. Then overclock your phone. You should get 5000.
Official record from xda forum for P970 is 4109
Hellmanor record, he overlock graphic card and procesor to maxiumum, So what I can tell you it is not so easy.
4.1.2, its CM10 i guess.
Maybe disable all apps and run only Antutu. lol

Yes. It is easy. You overclock it and if that does not yeild enough performance you can edit your build.prop file.
Why do ask for help just to end up telling me you know how to do it?
Do what you like. I'm not able to help you any more.

So this means the record is not real performance of Optimus Black. This record is a Fake
For the nexus 4, It's proved that benchmark scores are more when the phone is kept in a freezer....maybe the same case here, but such a large difference isn't possible...
Is there kernel which overclocks to 1100mhz in cm10.1?
If it doesn't, it is fake
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda app-developers app
Yes it is Zero Gravity Kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2082740
Score is from official Antutu ranking list. So score is real one but the way to get that performance is kind of cheat. Or tricky way of combine performance from strong accord kernel and zero gravity.
I can submit any score, there is a way...I hope its real. I also looking for stable oc kernel for cm10.1..
Highest I ever got was 4100.5031 is just horse****.Unless someone managed to over clock like crazy
