hey guys, im running cm7 with the platypus kernel which supports BLN. and its been working flawlessly even for handscnet messaging. however about 2 days ago i noticed the backlights would turn off about 5 seconds of staying on. In the setting there is so timout selected at all. and Even when i "test" the backlight notification it turns on and then runs off after about 5 seconds. Can someone please tell me what to do to fix my problem. I want my backlights to stay ON when i have a missed call or txt.
This should be on the kernel thread, the rom thread or the rom's Q&A. I assume you are using BLN app to set it up? It can be a kernel setting. Does that kernel or rom offer any special app for settings? Those would be the places to check.
BLN wasn't working for Glitch kernel on v13 either; same problem. Not that it helps you, sorry...
yea cyanogenmod has some settings everything is there though. BLN is working its not just fully working lol

Glitch v13.1 got rid of BLN because it wasn't working and is using LED Notifications, if you're interested in switching kernels
Well as I said. Its BEEEN working for a while it just recently messed up

Which is exactly what happened to many people on Glitch. Even the developers don't know why it's happening, so they dropped support for BLN.
The platypus kernel has no one saying anything about bln failures. This happened after a normal reboot

I've had this problem on pretty much any Froyo build I've installed (tried Doc's, Darkys, etc).
When I press a button (power or home) to wake the phone up, I get a 10 second delay before the lock screen appears. The only time I don't get this delay is when the phone is charging: in that case, it wakes up instantly.
I tried using SetCPU, but it didn't make any difference for me.
I've followed the install steps to a T, and I still get this. This never happened on my Captivate (I have both), and I've flashed numerous ROMs without any problems on the Captivate.
Any thoughts?
As a side note, the ROMs are usually very fast and smooth. I'm currently on Darky's Legendary Steel ROM, v4.0 and aside from the wake up lag, the ROM is very smooth and fast, and this is without having applied any lagfix (used his SpeedMOD version). This is what makes the delay I'm experiencing all the more confusing.
Its a kernel bug, although I thought all the devs had it fixed on froyo.
Try another kernel

Thanks I'll give that a shot. Do you have a particular kernel you know for a fact doesn't have that bug?

Does a stock rom do this?

No, stock ROMs work just fine.

I was posting from my Captivate, but this issue is with my i9000. I have both phones.
So I mistakenly installed the i9000 voodoo lagfix kernal.......problem is.no voice calls on my phone. I'll tell what state my phone is currently in, and where i'd like to be, and any help i can get would be greatly appreciated.
Current State:
Firmware Version 2.2
Baseband Version I897UCKB1
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9
Build number Froyo.UCKB1
Phone build 1006
rooted/shell rooted/market enabled with SuperOneClick
I disabled the voodoo lagfix but still have the I9000 kernel apparently (splash screen and no voice calls)
Where I want to be:
Stock Froyo
Rooted (which I know how to do)
Voodoo Lagfix built on captivate kernel, not I900 (because I like to talk on my phone)
That's all I want. Odin1click seems to not want to work for me anymore, unless I'm apparently doing something wrong in my method of operation.
I cannot seem to find a stock Froyo rom? Maybe I just don't know how to search the forum, because I can't ever seem to find anything very easily.
Please someone help me, this is my only phone, and I had to borrow a laptop for the night, to fix my phone.
well........nevermind, imagine, after a giant pitcher of amberbock and a shot.......
first thing i do when i come home is get the correct kernel with voodoo lagfix installed
wtf. no more I9000! So I think I got to where I wanted all by myself, well i mean I didn't make all the oneclicks but you guys know what I mean!
edit: i did a quadrant, I feel I have the stock kernel installed but not lagfix as my quadrant is only 900 something? doesn't seem right cosidering
i was close to 1800 before on i9000 *sigh* Still would like to find a stock ATT FROYO rom Just in case
Quadrant means nothing. I ran two benchmarks one after each other with the same setup and got 900 and 1500. It only looks big when you compare it.

Just look for the voodoo folder. If it is there then it is installed. As for your scores that seems about right for a stock Tom, the i9000 Tom's will always be faster as they are more updated

Well its there just dunno if its from before. Also before whem I rebooted into recovery I would go into a 2nd screen that was red that would let me enable or disable lagfix.....doesn't happen now.....dunno if I really care though cuz at least I can talk on my phone now lol....anyone know if supercurio is working on voodoo sound built on captivate 2.2?

Yeah that was for the universal lag fix. Not voodoo. As long as it is there and no disable lag fix folder then you are good. It would not have carried over as the stock flash wiped it when you flashed the update. Not sure if he is as he doesn't have the device. And they are building kernals on more updated stuff then 2.2. Only time will tell if he does. I am more looking coward to the 2.3 port lol

It's the kernel I've seen people post about reboots
What you are experiencing is called a "hot reboot" the phone itself doesn't reboot just the os.
+1
I'm having issues all over the place - hot reboot is one of about 5 or 6 I've noticed on the last couple of days. Just flashed v5 from v2.3 and I'll be going back ASAP.
Thanks studacris. I thought maybe I did something wrong. No way im going back though. Gb on the cappy is great. Again thanks to all.

I had the same issue before. I wiped user data and rebooted. That seemed to fix the issue. I figure when in doubt...clear and reboot.

What other problems are you having? I'm running Beta 3 as well (I missed when they put up the download link for RC1, now I have to wait until they fix whatever problems there are with it.) and I'm not having any issues whatsoever. Battery life is great as well, which was my only real gripe with CM7.
I was on RC3 and now 5.1, and I haven't had any such problems. I was running another ROM (not Continuum, which I will not name) before, which suffered from terrible sleep death. About every other day, it would not wake up from sleep at all. I had to pull the battery to get it to work again. I have had NO such problems with Continuum at all.
Oops. Posted too soon. Continuum 5.1 was extremely laggy. Tap something and the screen blanks out before the app comes up. That's bad lag. Also, it completely crashed on me about 4 times in a couple of hours.
I just flashed 5.2, and it seems to be better. However, icezar1 says the problem was with TW4, but I'm using Launcher Pro. I hope these problems don't persist.
Well, 5.2 was almost as bad as 5.1. I installed the previous version of the kernel (Talon 0.1.4) and all was well. Some kind of high memory freeing something or other. Then today Cezar released 5.3 which is even better. This is a great ROM.

Is it possible for someone to create an app like this one https://market.android.com/details?id=com.martinborjesson.o2xtouchlednotifications but for the Nexus S? The backlight of the capacitive buttons flash when you have a notification.

Running the AOSP ICSV43 and NoLED works fine on my phone. I don't play around with kernels for now since all is being tested, don't want to be flashing the phone at every second.
Nexus S 4g sprint
nstool can set BLN to flash.
I really like NoLED but it sucked my battery, so had to quit using. Found a couple others on the market, loaded on kids phones, seems to be working okay without major drain.
Most custom ICS ROMs have notification LEDs preloaded now

Try to reflash rom. Shouldn't have such issues on Temasek at all.

i think it's a rom problem,i face it when i'm on that build, but now i change to gueste.. and everything works, try to change kernel.. or rom..
I also had this problem on Parandroid CM10, no sign of life from the phone at all.
However, I reflashed the rom and now it works great.
Ok rom issue then. I will reflash it with a different one and kernel. Any kernel recomendations?

Happened to me on gueste2x v3.8 last night while I was USB tethering...and I was just pushing for a record time running made it to 160 hours and had to pull battery out to get it working again. As mentioned already, it's probably something to do about background data/wifi activity.
Nevertheless, I still recommend gueste2x v3.8  Give it a try
