[SOLVED]Hero Rom for HSPL

Micro Hero Rom Installed
Hi i am looking for a Hero Rom for Hard SPL if any. i know that there is a micro Hero rom for any SPL...but after i install the micro hero rom i get lot of forecloses..and a blank homescreen with a notification bar ....
I use Amon RA recovery for Dream and i have switchrom so i have backups...
I have posted for help in the Micro Hero Rom and i talked to the Author of the Rom but so far no luck....

these are the instructions from the Author
"How to install:
1, Copy update file to sdcard
1b, If using a recovery older than Cyanogen 1.4, rename to update.zip
2, flash from recovery and if first time with this build, alt+w to wipe
3, in adb, type adb shell mount /system/sd; rm -r /system/sd/*
4, Reboot"
i have setup adb but when i type "mount /system/sd; rm -r /system/sd/*"
it says that "cannot remove /system/sd/* " or something...
Is there any other way to do it like from recovery??

That's it. The microhero, MAYBE Eugene's Espresso because I think he mentioned not having it made specifically for Haykuro spl. I would check it out

i did that...still i am getting forecloses after the htc logo boots up..

Try v2, it wasn't until today that it needed the Danger spl

finally i flashed it....now instead of homescreen there is a htc logo....

Ok, that happens after all hero roms. In about a minute it will show a loading window

yeppieeee i finally got it to work...thankx a lot man.... YOU ROCK....
i can use APNDroid to block 3g right....and other apps (cyanogenmod apps) should work right...
One last question....it seems kinda laggy little bit...is there any way to speed up...like increasing the swap size...i already have 96 mb...

No, most of cyans apps are made for 1.6, this is 2.0 (2.1?). Some may work, but bluetooth won't, spare parts won't, contact and phone won't, etc...
And apndroid should should work.

It's laggy because it was made for the stock spl, if you had the danger spl it would be faster. And Hero isn't exactly the kind of rom you should be running if you want speed

yea...i didnt flash danger spl because some people said that it might brick my phone...so i didnt wanna take the risk...and if i have danger spl...i cannot run cyanogenmod...

You have a possbility of bricking yes. And that is wrong, spl allows you to have more space for apps and such. It doesn't limit your ability to flash roms, flashed cyan yesterday actually.

so the cyanogenmod latest will also work with Danger SPL? wow i didnt know that...i might take the risk of changing to Danger SPL(haykuro)....
Last one to add...its faster now..i ran a fix_permission/fix apps uid mismatches...and its faster...

Cant get Rogers DREAM to boot!

as the title says i cant get my Rogers DREAM to boot.
i have root
radio 2.22.19.26I
HBOOT 1.33.2005
was running CyanogenMod v4.2.14.1 then wanted to try KiNgxKxKlair Eclair Hero 2.1 v1.3 but was stuck at the HTC logo (after the ROGERS then HERO logos) so i reflashed CyanogenMod v4.2.14.1 but now its just suck at the ROGERS logo
can someone help me out?

Did you wipe before you flashed the rom?

Can you get into ADB after waiting a good 15seconds?

i forgot to wipe but remembered as i was booting and did the talk + home + end to reboot then wiped then reflashed

sry but im a compile n00b lol im a ubuntu n00b user as well and i was able to get the android sdk and get to ADB however when i did ./adb devices nothing came up? am i doing something wrong?

You have the 2.22.19.26I radio so you do not need the 32A/EBI1 kernel.

Phone only boots to recovery, nothing else!!!

Hi!
Yesterday my msging app wouldn't open so I rebooted the phone, something I do at least once every 2 days, and it booted into recovery without me touching anything.
This error would also show up:
E:Can't read MISC:
(No space left on device)
I can't do ANYTHING. It ALWAYS goes to recovery mode. reboot bootloader goes into recovery. power + camera button goes into recovery. letting it boot goes into recovery.
--all with the same error in recovery, the can't read misc thing.
Did anyone have this problem? I didn't even flash anything, i was just rebooting the phone like I always do and it just appeared. Any ideas? Is this bricked? I don't want to get a new phone until I know I've tried everything. I've already scoured the net for this error with no results.

What recovery do u have? Do u know your phone info? Running a custom Rom? What have u done to the phone before now?
Not bricked btw if u can get into recovery it's fixable

I'm using RA 1.7 recovery, not sure what phone info you want, its a G1, I'm using CM 6.0 RC1 and have been using for a month now, and before that I've just been using CM, keeping my phone up to date with the stable releases (I don't flash the nightlies)
I'm glad that its not bricked. The problem is that it ONLY boots into recovery, even if I don't press anything...

Ok. I'm looking for spl and radio. Do u have danger spl? Or firerat mtd patch? Sounds like u ran out of internal memory somehow and now won't boot into os is why I ask

Oh Gotcha - yeah I followed the guide on the CM wiki, so I have danger SPL i believe, and yes, I used firerat's MTD patch
If i remember correctly I used the "all" thing so it went through everything in that patch.
I did that maybe around the time I got CM 6 - so I've been using CM6 and firerat's patch for maybe a month before this happened.

Interesting. U don't need danger and mtd patch they do the same thing. I'm confused but maybe u have conflicting internal memory partitioning and that's causing it. Do u have a nandroid backup u can go back to that will boot into the os?

I do but it gives me the same error:
"Can't read MISC: etc etc etc"
This happens when I try to do anything, data wiping, wiping the cache, anything!
I don't even know if it acutally restored the image or not or if the wipe actually happened, because the progress bar is always present for whatever I'm trying to do, its just at the end the error comes up.
In terms of wiping I've tried wiping everything and installing CM6, to no avail. I can't re-reroot the device or downgrade it because recovery always comes up instead of fastboot... I'm stuck!!

If u plug your phone into the computer and select USB toggle does your sdcard show up on your computer?

Yep! I can select that MOUNT SD thing and I can transfer files over. Thats what I did to try and flash the rom again, but like always it just gives me that error after its done.

Well i hope you have a spare phone for the time being. I will try to figure something out and keep you informed. Or someone smarter than me will come along and give you the answer. It seems several people have had this prob. but i have not found the solution. Has to be something you can do from a shell in recovery mode to create some space or something to get back into the os. Ill get back with you hopefully with some good news.

It would appear that you can run adb commands while in recovery using a shell. Maybe you can do that and use df to see what has low space. When you find that out you can cd to that directory and type ls and get a list of what is in that directory. Maybe delete a few things to clear some space? Can anyone confirm this?

Yeah I saw that post but I didn't try what the guy suggested - I will definitely try this when I get home. Too bad that post ended up having no resolution.

Yeah, when I do a full wipe it says wipe completed and then right after I get the same error.
What could be wrong!!

Ok, looks like you are in the elite group....this issue is not that common...

Yeah I found that thread already... but like me they didn't find a solution either. Plus I do not have a backup misc image so me deleting it would be rather disasterous.
Any other ideas or things I could try?
I'm just about ready to wait for the desire Z or the galaxy S instead of trying to tinker with this old phone...

Red Trackball "of death" - need some instructions

I followed this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726258 and run into serious problems that i can't seem to fix.
To be exact I am refearing to a user in that thread that mentioned he has a black screen, since version 0.33 of bootloader doesn't work for "lcd" (?)
However, since I had the same problem i followed his suggestion to use PASSIMG_Passion_KT_KR_2.15.1010.2_FRF91_release_si gned.zip from shipped-roms to get stuff working again. And it did - except the side effect that since then i have a red trackball as soon as the phone finished booting up.
I've tried all, followed the exact instruction for back to stock, formated sdcard, didn't succeed either, so now I'm stucked with this battery draining red light and researches on google gave a lot of hints in terms of moisture or overheat, no solution though.
Any help is highly appreciated.

I think the issue is in the misc partition, something might not be right there...
You currently have the misc img of a desire on your N1...
Maybe you could try to flash a default N1 misc image and PASSIMG of a non korean N1 that matches your current hboot?

I did use the original stock image provided by modaco, unzipped it and fastbooted all the images like system, recover and so on.
Now my current boot is:
NEXUSONE PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.35.0017
MICROP-0b15
RADIO-4.06.00.12_7
jUN 14 2010, 12:02:27
So could it be that there's a conflict in a "protected area" that can't be solved, except by the approach you suggested?

You did follow the thread in your first post and flashed the Desire misc image (mtd0.img), right? I would try to :
1. unlock your bootloader so S=OFF (fastboot oem unlock)
2. get hold of an N1 mtd0.img dump with S=OFF and flash it

I have the same problem and I tried to do the same method as Amon_Ra posted. But I get the following error message when flashing misc.img:

What do i need do get you? I havev nexus one unlocked with br and cm7. It is slcd version. Just tell me the command

I think that it's poosible to dump the misc partition with

(as root)
I'm not sure i dumped it correct, file is an attachment.
It's a vodafone nexus one with AMOLED.

Just to confirm, there is no personal info in the misc partition right?

I looked into my dump with an hex editor. The only readable part is something like "Google" and the stock firmware version number. Don't think that there's anything personal

In order to flash this try the "flash_image" command.

Help! no reovery

Hi,
I tried to upgrade my Dream to a version of And 2.2, after flashing my phone was boot looping, so re reflashed to rc29 using xda's return to stock guide. It boots fine now in normal mode, but now I can't get into recovery and I cant get anything to flash, not even rc29 again. If I try flashing using the phone I get Model ID incorrect, with fastboot I get remote: not allow. Very few threads mention HBOOT 1.33.0014, maybe its the problem? Any help would be appreciated

Forgot to mention, its Rogers but I don't have a sim card

Use the telnet method to flash a new recovery, in the future if you ever get stuck and have to flash the orange.nbh not the dreaimg.nbh

I tried reflashing with orange also, same message, though I didn't try with telnet because I couldn't get it connected to localhost.
typed telnetd at home screen
started telnet when I click connect
I get either server refused
or null

yeah 2 times, then type telnetd (ignored the contact search), press enter.
open telnet, click connect. Does the port make a difference? I left it as it was, its set to 23

you should make a gold card (just goole it)
or well can you update via ota, under settings look for updates, if you can get to 1.5 then you can use androot or maybe see if THIS GUIDE helps.
ive only rooted one rogers branded g1, and you dont do the dreaimg.nbh method rather
LIKE SO but at this point you need to move on, try some of the above stuff

ok went searching for update in settings and noticed firmware is at 1.5 , I didn't think it could update automatically without a sim? so I'm guessing DREAIMG.nbh didn't take? Just messed my recovery? I installed Androot and it says I'm "already rooted, root again?" The first guide you pointed to THIS GUIDE says for "Tmobile G1 only", should I go ahead anyway? The last one LIKE SO , I would like to try the rogers_1.89.631.1.nbh but it seems to have disappeared from the net. I'll look into the gold card idea this weekend. Thx for your input :good:

Well made a gold card, but got a message "main version is older" when I tried to update the image, I think the problem is finding the right image file. I thought Gold cards got around that? I guess I'll just use 1.5, doesn't have everything I want, but its working at least. thx for the help just the same

The gold card didn't take, may need to use a different sd.
But did you say you have root? Do you have a custom recovery? Maybe you can go about this in a different way, can you post everything on your bootloader screen?

ok heres what I have: see attachment
no recovery btw
cant seem to get telnet to work
fastboot works but wont successfully flash
adb works but wont succesfully flash
bootloader gives update fail
Androot says I'm rooted
Adb gives me # when I enter superuser which means I should be rooted
I also get superuser request popup on my phone

I read your post to m3talmouth:
Find amonra recovery in xda, latest is 1.7 something
Put on root of sd card and name it recovery.img
Open a terminal and type
su
If you see a # procees
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
If you have an error it could be you need to add the flash image bianary or you have a bad download or named it wrong,
I figured It might work for me, now I have AmonRA recovery 1.7 :good:
So now following the guide you posted earlier http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Dream/Rooting_Branded_EBI1s, I should install the engineering SPL, then the EB1 port file, then flash cm 6.1.zip?

Hey good! Well if you have a custom recovery you are most of the way there, now remember you have a rogers dream and need tgo flash the proper radio and spl, make sure they are listed for your phone, check md5sums, flash radio first then spl then id recomend cm5 (faster) flash rom and gapps
Do this right, just the other day someone flashed either spl first or a curropt image and got a brick. Only warning so you don't but as long as you do what I said above you'll be safe

Well...I i did a nandroid backup, tried i now have the eng SPL installed, tried the CM 6.1 as it was easier to find for my phone + the port file, but it stuck at rogers boot screen. I've seen some posts for 2708 kernel but it never mentions this in any of the install guides. I have found CM 5 roms but only with the 2708 kernel and no mention of rogers, so I'm staying clear of those for the moment. Will search some more for CM 5, its not Android 2.2 though is it?

Cm5 is 2.1 but smoother than cm6 on these phones. You can flash the one in cm wiki just flash the right kernel on top of it. If you want to do the 2708+ update (I say a good idea) then just follow ezterrys instruction in his thread. Download radio and SPL, check md5sums, and then flash via fastboot. Now they can also be flashed in recovery but I don't recommend it. After that you can flash any of the newer ROMs and it won't mater that your phone was once rogers. But older ROMs (mostly eclair and older) will need a different kernel flashed on top of them

Success!!!!! I have CM 5.08 + 2708 installed and working, thx for everything, will try this mod for a while to see if it covers all I need, if so I'm good to go. :laugh: :good:

Awesome! You may need to move to froyo if apps you need aren't avalible on 2.1, there are many good aosp and cm variants just straight cm6 is kinda poor on these phones, try a few out, make nandroids so you can change back easy, there are about a dozen 2.3 and 2.2 roms that I feel run great on the dream and I personally keep a back up of each for a quick change

Do not forget that your phone is no longer EBI1.
You will no longer need to flash EBI1 ports.
On a side note, looks like you somehow got the 1.33.0014 update.
1.33.0014 is a bootloader released by HTC somewhere last year for HTC Dream. They claimed it was unlockable, and you could flash with it. I did the unlock process, and I can promise you that HTC duped us. It's not unlockable. The unlock does absolutely nothing other than change the text at the top. I even had someone reverse some of the code, and they claimed the code for doing fastboot flash doesn't seem to be there.

yeah the .0014 official unlocked bootloader is a crock, when it first came out i was about to test it and someone else here tried first, turned into a nightmare for him so i tell all to stay away! some phones it actually isnt too bad if better ways like hacked bootloaders or radio s-off has been found for it, but its a pain and you usually need to flash a rom in recovery, extract the kernel from the .zip and then flash the kernel through fastboot.
so yeah any phone that you dont need this option, stay far away from it!
