Searched but probably did not know what to look for exactly...
I flashed OneCosmic's ICS RC2.11 a few days ago and since then, my carrier "name" does not appear anymore in the notification menu nor does it on the lockscreen.
I only see it's "number" ... 302610 which stands for BCM - Bell Canada Mobility
The question : what do I need to edit so that I no longer see a number in there?
EDIT : If there's an app that would do the trick, that would be even better!
EDIT 2 : Solution here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916738
Thanks in advance
Anyone ?

I used the carrier name app since i have the same issue on Telus..only added to the existing though.
Where did you get that app?
Can't find anything by that name on the market...
Do you have a link or can you post the app here please ?
Thanks

I swear I got it from the market the other day... not there today. Check your pm
This problem happened to quite a few people. Check the threads for cm7 and Onecosmic ICS. I've read the same question and answer there.

I flashed teamhacksung's ice and the carrier name shows correctly AND is changeable using this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1452217
(Didn't work on onecosmic's)
Wish I knew more about how/why but it's totally doable.
Any definitive way to fix this on Onecosmic's? I know it didn't show the right carrier name on CM7 either.

I'm not willing to give this a try unless someone can confirm me that it worked for him on OneCosmic's as it clearly states not to try it on any other ROM than Team Hacksung's.
Still searching for a solution...
I tried to change the apns-conf.xml and eri.xml, tried an alternative ICS settings app and carrier name app but nothing works, I still have 302610 instead of Bell. If someone has a solution, please post it in here! Thank you
Here You Go mate. after changing carrier name you will have to restart your phone.
It doesn't work, nothing changes... thanks for your help!
I finally got it to work on Team SGSICS RC3 but it should work for any CM7/CM9/ICS builds for as far as I can understand.

Hi there.
I recently flashed the KRATOS Overcome ROM to my Galaxy Tab. Everything is just perfect about this ROM, except for the fact that the nice Samsung tune at start up has disappeared. I quite like it and would like to get it back.
I know it should be located in system/etc and the name is PowerOn.snd
Would somebody just copy it from there and send it to me or just attached it here for further use. Thank you!
I think even if you put any sound file if it is not coded to play at startup then it would be useless.

Damn! Are you sure about that?
I am not a developer so I can't be sure 100%. Yet I have asked before on another post(sorry I can't find it) how to put sound on boot animation and it involves scripting which I don't know how.
Maybe you know scripting? The best you have to do is go to the overcome site and ask this.question there.

Thanks, dude!
In fact I have asked this question in Team Overcome's forum first, before bothering anyone here, but since I got no reply for a couple of days, I decided to ask here, because I was sure that at least I will get some answer. And I wasn't wrong!
Cheers!

And ps. If there is a way to remove this cyanogen mod 7 can sombody please guide me through or give me a link to remove it please? it would be great
Thank you
Hi. Sure there is a way to remove cm7 from your phone. You first have to clear what you will do!
I mean stay on a custom Rom or go back to stock Rom.
For custom Rom look at the android development thread. There at the top you will find a thread with all custom roms here.
For stock rom you can go for ginger 2.3.4, 2.3.5 or 2.3.6. These are the official Samsung roms.
There are many sites on the net showing and describing how to do that. Try google and search for something like update gt s5570 to android 2.3.5. You also can use threads here at the xda forum.
Hope this helps something.

you can flash another custom rom using CWM or flash to a stock f/w using odin if you want to remove your CM7..
Hey guys,
I understand that this is probably the wrong place to post but due to my new account and low post count, I couldn't post this in the relevant section. I do however have much experience of messing with android, just have never given any input here.
I have just flashed my phone to the latest Stocklite ROM and all is looking good, however I am having a problem in that the stock XT9 predictive feature is seemingly not working. I have looked around the forums and haven't seen this reported before.
Anyone got any ideas or seen this issue before?
Cheers

Hello!
Let me just say I have been long overdue with registering here. I have been looking for help threads here for about 6 months on my Galaxy S3 phone and other questions. Awesome forum and really loving it.
And also, if this question is somehow "overdone" (I can see it being a question at a regular basis) OR posted in the wrong forum. Then sorry! I am however very thankful for a reply to it, and if this thread needs to be moved then go ahead. (And if it needs to be taken down, I would be very thankful for a reply)
I installed a custom rom on my Samsung Galaxy S3 i9305N a while back. First I used clockworkmod to fix a loader, rooted and all that stuff. Then I installed the only Cyanogenmod I could find. (It wasn't an officially supported one at the time, I have no idea how that rom is doing now however)
I then reformatted everything to the original loader and rom. It looks mostly the same as it did before, but with some new features.
However, I need to send the phone to repair. The battery is defect and the charger seems to drain its battery.
A phone support guy that I know, told me that it is possible to see a "history" on all the roms and roots and etc, that has been done to the phone. In order to make sure that nobody reloads the warranty Rom and sends it off to repair. Is this true?
If so, how can I fix this? Is there any way to just reboot the phones so called history? Or did he just tell me this to scare me off?
Is there any way I can test my Samsung if it is eligable for warranty, without sending it off to their repair? (And do they check all phones for custom roms?)
Thanks for any help! Sorry for the LONG thread.
I am not that good with computers and programming. Could be worth mentionning! I managed to load the rom through tutorials, that's it. =P

Edit: also How do I hide any possible traces of having had a custom rom? Thanks for any help.. Or URLs with help!
Fine
Hi..don't worry asking as long as you have stock ROM and zero flash counter and stock kernel..I did the same sent phone off and received phone back within week..good luck...

Thank you very very much!
In fact, thanks to all good replies. The triangle thing was what I was looking for! I am a total rookie but I feel as though I learned quite a lot. Perhaps I should root my new phone now. "Haha".
No but, I actually got one question.
How do I know if it really is my official rom? I read somewhere, that every telephone-operator has their own Rom. So just picking one of the Roms might not work?
How do I know if the source is correct? I'm a bit concerned that I might format the phone, send it in, and they notice that I flashed with the wrong Stock Rom.
I have a Galaxy S3 i9305N with the operator Tele2 in Sweden. Sammobile.com has 3 stock Roms available (One only for members though) Which one is correct? Or does it not matter?
Thanks for any help again.
Many apologies if I am a bad googler. This is one of my first issues I have never been able to Google my way out of ;P
EDIT:
GT-I9305N Sweden 2013 March I9305NXXBMC2 I9305NCOVBMC2
GT-I9305N Nordic countries 2013 January 4.1.2 I9305NXXBMA2 I9305NNEEBMA2
GT-I9305N Sweden 2012 September 4.1.1 I9305NXXALIA I9305NCOVALI7
Those three are my result. How do I know which one I should go with?
EDIT2:
I was looking around a bit. I think the right one would be 2013 March (Top) right? Thing is, I find another one through a Swedish forum with a thread just like this one.. and it puzzles me what to pick. Does it matter at all? I used the one from the Swedish thread a while back, and I noticed it differed a bit from the Rom I had on the phone from purchase... Is it best to go with one from Sammobile? (And if so, which one.. )
Okay my friend! I checked it out...
On http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9305N are only 3 firmwares for the I9305N
BMC2 is for Sweden and 4.2.1
BMA2 is for Finland and also 4.2.1 but
ALIA is for Sweden an 4.1.1!
Now is the question with which firmware your phone was coming?
I guess, my friend, I don't know the answer... you could try each firmware...
I'm sorry, I really don't know!

From what provider did you buy the phone (after you know that search the internet for the firmwares it provides to your phone). You only need to search a bit then you will find the rom you need. Gl.
