[Q] Mobile Odin and CWM - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
I flashed a Tar file ROM using Mobile Odin and enabled Everroot, CWM, Super User. Everything went fine and the install went great. For some reason my keyboard wasn't functioning well (showing 'null') and I saw in the forums that flashing the CSC file from Mobile Odin will fix that issue and it did fix it.
The problem now is, every time I boot the phone in recovery mode..It always says updating CSC successful and It doesn't show other CWM options which I used to have in cf-root like Backup, Restore etc. Anyway to fix this? Do I have to install a different version of CWM?

Yes. Find cwm for your kernel. Then use it with already rooted option
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App

you need to use a cfroot kernel or a custom kernel that supports CWM

Follow the instruction in the website:

You can put back the appropriate kernel into your SGN.
Can it be possible that my rom kingdroid 1.6 cant work with this kernel?
franco kernel ics(r1/r2/r3) is ok for ICS stock rom and also for kingdroid ICS
check your root
And how do i do that?

If you can paste a file into the system folder then you have root. You need a root file manager like es explorer available free in the Market. You need to go into the setting of this program, enable root and allow write on the system folder.
I checked and my phone is rooted, when im trying to flash the kernel from cwm app it says zlmage not found.
Whar should i do?
Install a kernel using the odin?
Can u just extract zimage and flash it using mobile odin... pc odin wud increase the flash counter and even bring triangle with exclamation on boot screen...
OK, that's what i did,
i downloaded the r3 kernel zip, turned it into a tar file using this method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1644240
flashed via odin and that's it. everything is back to normal, i can enter the recovery
By the way, that yellow triangle, i got it since my first custom rom, what that means? and the counter to?
Thanks for the help guys.
that means, your warranty has been voided if you show up to a service center with that yellow triangle. there are ways to remove, but that includeds re-flashing kernels and/or roms, removing the triangle notice (and flash counter) and doing everything from scratch.
search the forum.

[Q] Remove CWM from kernel after ICS Root?

Hay all,
I've just rooted my SGN by using this method: here
I want to now remove CWM-Recovery from my phone as it has no more use for me (can't safely make back-ups with ICS at the moment). Am I right in saying that I can use Mobile ODIN to flash a stock version of my kernel and that will remove CWM-Recovery from my phone?
If so, does anyone also have a copy of the stock version of my kernel that they can upload (see attached image)?
Why don't you read "Unrooting" part of the instructions from the same link you have supplied?
BTW you have the very same same stock kernel you started from on your phone right now.
The unrooting part of those instructions is for removing busy box and supersu which I dont wish to do...
I am only looking to remove CWM-Recovery and I am led to believe that flashing the kernel with the stock kernel will remove CWM-Recovery but leave root intact.
I am aware that the kernel showing in the picture is the stock one, but I dont have that stock kernel with which to flash using Mobile ODIN. I only have the GB one which will not work.

Alternative Option...
Ok... Would this work as an alternative?
I download the full stock ICS ROM from here.
Then install them on my phone using Mobile ODIN Pro and Enable EverRoot, Inject Superuser and Inject Mobile Odin. Would that work?
Many thanks all.

Update to ICS from Rooted GB,which is the best: Mobile Odin or PC Odin?

I want to upgrade/update from stock GB rooted. Which one to use? I have paid mobile odin and also access to pc odin. Which one is guaranteed not to have binary count and/or Yellow triangle?

If you're going to Stock ICS then use PC Odin, It will not increase the Binary counter - either way you will lose root but follow Dr. K's method to root once on ICS.
I believe the Yellow triangle will only trigger if flashing a non-stock (Custom) Kernel via PC Odin. I use Mobile ODIN for kernel flashing.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have just watched Cursed4eva youtube video using Mobile Odin to flash German ICS stock on rooted gb. I think that was also ok. but he did mention if binary count is triggered. It also has everroot enabled. Seems ok ?
If you want to flash just stock ROM, you can use either.
Stock ROM won't raise counter in anyway.
But i do recommend is go with PC Odin. as well clean.
You are already rooted so make backup with titanium
Hard reset (wipe cache and data from recovery) on existing GB ROM
-Flash ICS using PC Odin
-Root it, and restore appl using TB (avoid restoring sys junk, just only restore user app)
And yes above menton method won't increae flash counter.
Use first link on my signature to get ICS ROM + installation N rooting instruction

Successfully updated to DXLR2. Now another question- How do I install a custom kernel like Speedmod without triggering the binary counter?
Follow Dr.ketan's Rooting guide for ICS and install a custom kernel through CWM recovery or using mobile ODIN. :good:
Pc odin is more safer than mobile odin

I usually flash kernels with Mobile Odin or CWM.. I don't like to flash custom kernels with PC Odin as the Binary counter increases. Yes, I know that you can use Triangle Away.. But this for me should be a last resort when there are other methods available..
I rooted via Dr. K's method and flashed the latest Speedmod Kernel via Mobile Odin - I am running Stock 4.0.3 with SpeedMod K3-11. NO Binary count increase and no need for Triangle Away...
I think there's a few people getting to used to using TA to take short cuts to do things....It is itself, not without risk...

I've searched for hours about this and you might have just answered my lingering question. I am on stock rooted 4.0.3, and have been looking to flash a custom kernel, while avoiding pc odin, and binary count. Just wasn't sure if mobile odin was safe or not to flash kernel, while running stock kernel.

Mobile Odin is safe to flash a custom kernel.
Download the kernel you want to flash to your SD card (internal or external).
Run Mobile Odin, grant access through Superuser and go to the kernel section inside Mobile Odin pro and look for the kernel that you earlier saved from the download.
After that, just tap on flash firmware (inside Mobile Odin still) and that would restart your phone and once booted, you now have a new kernel.

Thanks for all the replies- sorry for further asking. Suppose I want to get back to GB from present ICS stock with Speedmod kernel can I use Mobile Odin right away to flash any stock GB? Or go the PC odin route? Which is safer?

[Q] How to install CWM on stock 2.3.3 (not rooted) ?

Hi All,
I got a SGS for my wife and it has stock provider's 2.3.3 ROM.
I want to preserve it, so I need to install CWM somehow (without root), do a clean NANDROID backup, then flash in CWM the "GamerzROM Legend Edition v2.0" without rooting the phone first.
I'm guessing this new rom comes with ROOT so no need for flash rooted kernels via ODIN ...
How can this be achieved ?
You must root first
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
in order to root i need to upgrade to 2.3.6 first, right ?
No
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
Hi,
I don't know how to instal CWM without root! but you can flash semaphore kernel with Odin and you have root and CWM.
Download the tar file containing the kernel from here
Start Odin application
Select the tar file as PDA (do NOT select Re-Partition)
Put the phone in download mode
Connect your phone through USB to your PC and wait for the ID:COM to become yellow
Press start button
I hope it helps!:good:

Samsung Galaxy Note Stuck on Splash Image/Boot Image

My mom's Samsung Galaxy Note is currently stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 screen. Tried removing the battery and reinsert then turned it on same problem.
Also I am unable to access the recovery I remembered that I have philz kernel installed on the unit. And im only able to access the download mode.
Also when I flashed the stock roms that I have stored on my computer specifically GB roms it shows that it was successful but when the phone rebooted it is still stuck on the same screen. Not willing to do any more steps as im really out of ideas here. Hope you can help.
BTW my mom is only using the phone for standard use meaning call and text and a few game words like crossword and some solitaire games. And sh said that the phone just turned off then thinking it was due to low battery she charged it then when the battery shows 100% full she disconnected the phone and tried to turn it on that is when the problem occured.
Here is the screenshot of odin. And im a bit concerned about the line where it says "RQT_CLOSE!!!" I don't know what that means.

Some more useful information, the phone was on Jelly Bean Stocked Jelly Bean with custom kernel I forgot if it was Philz or speedmod. Phone is already out of its warranty.
Stuck on the Gt-N7000 screen? It doesn't go into bootloop when you flash the stock GB ROM ? Can you access the stock Android recovery? Remove battery, put it in and then try to access the recovery using the same the button combo used for custom recoveries.
The Odin flash went perfectly, nothing wrong with it.
Friend of mine is having the same issue, flashing to stock UK Jellybean.
Same issue
I'm actually having the same issue as the OP I'm bookmarking this as I am looking for a fix I flashed the Vodafone rom for the united kingdom and am now stuck on the bootscreen for all samsung devices.
Try booting into recovery and reinstalling one of your backups if you can - usually works for me. Clean all caches etc first though.
PC Odin may take a couple of attempts to flash it correctly I've found when I'm trying to repair a major stuff up.

Not working even though flashing stock gb/ics/jb and custom kernels and unable to access recovery only downliad mode. Was trying to use the pif file is it safe I mean it was said to use it as the last option.

Have you tried flashing a kernel through Odin PC and then booting into recovery use one of philz .tar files for the kernel and see if you can get in to recovery sounds like you have lost recovery. This has happened to me and I fixed with philz kernel through PC Odin good luck and also you may need to do a full wipe after flashing a ROM through PC Odin to get it to boot
sent from the darkness
Yup already performed that but stuck on logo snd cant access cwm recovery.
Got mine fixed by doing this procedure which is really weird. Flashed pit with stock gb rom then once finished im still stuck in splash screen decided to flashed ics with pit same results then i flashed jb rom using pc odin with pit after a few minutes i was able to access the menus and all those icons. But the apps and games installed are still on the device which should have been removed when i flashed stock rom.
Flashed philz kernel via mobile odin and wiped factory data and it seems device is working now. Still under observation though.
Sent from my Titan TV S320 using xda premium
you are flashing a non wipe rom so the apps will still be there
