Has anyone got the amazon video app working on the Xoom yet? I can open it but when selecting a movie it simply closes (perhaps a HC/ICS issue?).
Any thoughts?

Same here. I was able to install the app and login by following this thread, but get FC when trying to play any content. Would be great to get this working on the Xoom.
Wanted to bump this hoping someone has gotten this to work in the last six months.
It's not going to work until they release an ICS/HC compatible version. The Kindle Fire is based on Gingerbread. Hopefully they put out the Kindle Fire 2 on ICS or JB and then we'll have some better luck.
If you have a GB phone or tablet, it will work on there...

I side loaded it and it runs as far as the app but video is a bunch of green crap with no sound.

That's what I got. But seconds after the green crud... the phone rebooted itself.
Weird, especially given this: http://www.droid-life.com/2011/07/0...cation-droid3-just-got-a-lot-more-attractive/
did you upgrade all adobe flash to the latest.

I know, you'd think it'd be no problem, which is what I assumed. Perhaps support for the OMAP4 is coming via update?
That would be my guess. I think the D3 is the first with OMAP 4 in it, the Bionic is next so once a few devices have it and are selling Netflix will see a reason for it.
There is also multiple different netflix's out there, have you tried all of them?
Hi I tried netflix on cyanogenmod 7 and it worked fine, but when I try to do it in coredroid it said my phone was able. What sup with that.

I used the deviceless apk I snagged for my nook and tried it on the d3. I got the green screen bit, then it just kicked back to the netflix queue, no reboot.

They need to hurry up with this ****... Hulu too!
I don't want to pay some other company every month to use their software to watch something offered by another company I pay money to.
Well if you can't wait just use a 30 day trial from playon.tv and get netflix that way.. I would imagine they will have the app by the end of this month or early next
Same here with the green crap. Audio actually does work, by the video decoding is busted. I used 3 or 4 different version of Netflix, some crashed my phone, others had the busted decoding.
It's compatible now, or so it says. Mine isn't working. It streams but everything is all green.

Yup same here. It will allow me to download and install from the market, but I get the green pixelated screen followed by a reboot.
Confirming, officially supported, and still officially broken.
The version you are downloaded is the 1.2.2 and we have to wait for the "official" 1.3 update. It seems Google is possibly being a little slow?
The 1.3 update just hit the android market and it now works for the D3... Although the colors are not as good as it looked on my old Droid Inc.
Maybe some tweaking can resolve the color issue...
Confirmed, updated version is working for D3 quite nicely.
Hello,
Has anyone tried using Amazon Instant Video in the android browser? My device is on its way back from HP and this would be useful to have. Otherwise I might sell it without rooting it and go for the Kindle Fire.

Plays just fine through most Android browsers including Dolphin HD. When I first tried months and months ago it did not seem to work, but in the last month or so I found that it plays just like it does on my notebook PC, so all is good.

I have been able to play them in Dolphin. I do have the Hulu modified flash installed. I am not sure if that is necessary for Amazon though.

It should work in the browser. There is also the app ripped from the Kindle Fire which installs fine on the Touchpad but won't play on rooted devices.
Hi All,
Seems like optimum (cablevision) has a app for kindle fire, that can stream cable tv, similar to the app they have for the iphone. It is available for the kindle fire on Amazon. Can someone get the apk, see if the app can be ported to android in general ?

Ok .. found the link https://www.dropbox.com/s/c7ld876le6j5pqy/com.optimum.rdvr.mobile-1.apk
thanks to the kind soul on the Kindle fire forum
App installs fine, and then once I login I get an unsupported device message
can someone please look at this and suggest a fix ? I think getting the right build fingerprint spoof would resolve the issues ??

Works great on my HTC EVO View
This APK works fine on my HTC EVO View 7" tablet.
Correction:
Now I am getting the dialog pop-up saying: "This Application is not supported in this device"
Very strange, since it did work at first and I was watching Two and a half Men.
I also installed it on a Samsung Tab 7 with the same result.
I also did see that the app was asking for superuser permissions.
Hard to believe that it needs a rooted device.
Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.
Addition:
I cleared the data and logged in again, accepting the Terms & Conditions etc.
Then I am good to go again. Wonder for how long?
(This is on the HTC).

ok got this to work on the gtablet ... however had to downgrade from ICS to froyo (beastly-clemsyn) ... same behavior as mentioned in the post above. Need to clear data before every login
There is another discussion going on here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785945
seems like the app rejects the device if certain build.prop parameters do not match that of the kindle fire

Got it to work on my gtablet, which is running JB (ParanoidAndroid for gtabet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1966544)
I updated the following in build.prop :
ro.product.brand=Amazon
ro.product.name=Kindle Fire
ro.product.device=Kindle
ro.product.manufacturer=Amazon
ro.build.product=tate
I would like to put the CM 10.1 ROM on my Kindle Fire, but I don't want to lose Amazon Video. I'm assuming that Amazon Video doesn't work if I put a different ROM on my Fire. Is that assumption correct? Is there a way around this?
Thanks for any insight.
Funny I just installed it yesterday(amazon video)... I'm on the tablet version of cm 10.1, and I installed a version of amazon video I found laying around in the forums that is said to work on other android devices, here's the catch, the device can't be rooted, or so I have heard just like on kindles once you root it the instant video won't work, though k thought that was only prime so I am not completely sure how this affects it. So my answer that needs to be improves on is yes the app will work, as to actually watching the videos I am not sure, you may have to de-root the cm os, which I am not sure if that is a good idea. That's my 2 cents, see if anybody else can be of more use.
Edit: ever time I try to watch a free video I get a "unfortunately this program has stopped working" error
Seems like a stupid move for them to not release an android app for us to use their services, they'd rather we buy a kindle, or in this case not flash our kindle if we want to use it.

My Kindle is already rooted and prime videos work. I have the stock rom with the play store. I want to use cm 10.1, but don't want to lose amazon prime videos. It's disappointing that this is even an issue.

I have CM10.1 on my Kindle now and live abroad so I cannot even use the Amazon video store. I'm curious though - can you access the videos by logging into Amazon in the tablet's browser instead, like you would if you were on a desktop?

You can if you have flash installed and working.
I just discovered that the Kinology ROM allows the use of Amazon Video, plus all the google framework and 3rd party launchers. It's not CM 10.1, but it is better than stock.
I have CM 10.1 and live abroad, I use a VPN and Firefox to watch Amazon Prime Videos.
I have a Touchpad with both WebOS and KitKat 4.4/CyanogenMod.
It's rooted and runs like a champ, but when I try to watch Prime movies I get a message that my device isn't supported. Amazon gives you a choice of using Silverlight or Flash, so I choose Flash and then installed the modded Flash apk from another thread, but still nothing.
Do I have to do something to make Amazon think I have a different device?
I would love an "easy" way to do this, but I'm not opposed to playing around a bit to get my feet wet with modding (within reason).
Thanks!

Based on a few other threads on this subject, I uninstalled my browsers and Flash and then tried them one at a time, but still no luck.
Puffin browser gets me to the video page, but it then says I have to pay for the upgraded version for Flash support.
I'd consider it (only 1.99 a year) but I'd hate to pay for it and then still get the message that my device isn't supported!

Following the directions here http://nexus7.wonderhowto.com/how-t...r-nexus-7-running-android-4-4-kitkat-0152824/
I'm able to view Amazon Instant Video. The howto provides a custom flash apk, but I was successful using the last archive version from adobe. http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
FYI, I'm running jcsullins' 04/09/14 CM11 build.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I may not have used the correct installer for Flash.
I just hope its not blocking me because of the device I'm on.

Unfortunately I think I'm out of luck.
I can get Flash installed, but the Amazon site doesn't load the "Play" options and instead refers me to a list of "Supported Devices" and indicates that I'm not using one.
I guess I could edit my device somehow so the Amazon site thinks it's something else? Not sure about the cascading effects of other things though.

Thanks.
I'll check it out when I get home.
OK, I now can successfully watch Prime videos!
But only in Dolphin browser...but that's fine with me.
I followed the Flash install instructions in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785091
I then attempted to load Prime in Firefox and Chrome with no luck. I loaded Prime in Dolphin and it appeared to be loading for a LONG time (circle in the video screen), and I was about to give up, but on a whim I re-sized the screen and then shrunk it back again and presto! It worked.
Maybe stretching and then re-sizing the screen forced it to reload somehow, but my Touchpad now gets me the movies I wanted.
Now if I could just get the Optimum app working!!!!!
Thanks!
